The rebates will continue to be around and get better as long as the cars are not selling. It's a buyers market for the Mazda 6. Unfortunately that means residual value will be terrible for a long time down the road.
AT, Steel Grey, non-sport packedge, SAB/SAC. So much for exclusivity!
However, it is nice to see the volume picking up.
Mark. : (
Sucks about the lost exclusivity, though, You sure it wasn't yoour evil (or good!) twin from another dimension?
Same thing happened to another MZ6 owning friend recentl, except he has clear corners on his Steel Grey!
Shoulda bought Blue - I have yet to see a clone (although my dealership had a clone in stock at the time I bought mine!)
i w/LeftLegFlexor...although listed.

Or the owner died.
Or went bankrupt.
There could be 1000 reasons.
Or more.
I think probably somebody traded it in for a Lincoln or a Mercury. After all can't you get a discount if you buy a Ford product if you previously bought a Mazda The S-Plan comes to mind. But your right there could be 1,000 reasons.
Are you going to get them in the next one?
Thanks for letting us know.
Are going to get another Mazda6?
Please let us know if you had SAB/SAC.

I still think it borders on immoral for Mazda to bundle this safety equipment with what amounts to high profit gee-gaws...
All I KNOW is my next car WILL have SAB/SAC and it will NOT have a moonroof OR leather.
Years ago, Mazda used to package ABS with moonroofs for the same reason. Apparently the Mazda way of thinking is: They want safety equipment, make them pay for high profit options. It isn't a matter of money for me, though. It's a matter of I do NOT want a car with a moonroof (sacrifices some structural integrity and for what?) or leather (hot in summer, cold in winter, environmental issues as well for some)
This may actually move me down to a Mazda3 (talk about unintended consequences) or into a Subaru or even Malibu Maxx....
Simple packages:
ABS/SAB/SAC - Safety
leather+moonroof - Luxury
GFX - spoiler, skirts, foglights, 17" rims
BOSE - stand-alone
This would make everyone happy.
The 3 looks to be better in terms of packages at least in Canada.

It certainly makes good sense to choose a car with the head curtain air bags.....richard
Not exactly. It's basically impossible to make everyone happy. Some people like leather and want it but don't want a moonroof. This seems to be one of the tougher combinations to get on any car. Getting a moonroof without leather is a lot easier. Personally I don't want a moonroof under any circumstances but on a more expensive car I expect leather to be in it.
STOP IT! I can't take all this common sense discussion. It is just so frustrating to be told that the car I would like to buy cannot be had without a sunroof because I want some safety stuff. Especially after reading that article from a few posts ago, the SAB/SAC is now mandatory for me.
Hopefully, as you suggest, maybe the wagon will not require a moonroof to get the SAB/SAC. Better yet, since most states require motorcylusts to wear approved helmets, maybe they should require all cars to be sold with SAB/SAC ???

Is there anyone out there that has driven both types repeatedly, who can attest to any marked difference and lend a word of advice that will assist in my decision-making process? Quick note -- the Sport Package car I'm looking at comes to about $800 more than the other one. Is it worth it? Also, that same Sport Pkg model is a 'demo' car with nearly 2000 miles on it. Is that a risky purchase? I already have a quote $300 below invoice and am contemplating going lower. Any thoughts on all this would be much appreciated ASAP as I'm looking to make a purchase this morning (Mon 29th).
So get a new one.
Dinu
IMO $300 below invoice for a demo with 2000 miles is way too much.
Between a Sport Value Pkg (85 miles) and a demo with the Sport Pkg (over 1900 miles on it), which one would you choose -- all other things being equal...price, looks etc.?

Probably not for that reason. PA just dropped that law a few weeks ago. The motorcyclists are already riding around al fresco. They're all crazy!
Yes. He should do a little more reading and a little less BSing.
If you like the handling with the 16s, I would take the one with the Sport Value Package. You can always add the 17s later if you decide you really need them. If you gotta have the 17s, take the demo.
Dealers sometimes get compenstated for demo units, but they'll never tell you about it. They should be able to give you a better price on the demo unit. Was the demo unit ever registered? If so, it's actually a "used" car and you are the second owner. And, I've heard that in some states a car can not be sold as "new" if it has more than a certain number of miles on it. Can anyone confirm this?
The Sport Value Package with less miles - no question! Miles on a car may or may not be a good thing, but chances are its been driven hard! I refused to compromise on that issue when I bought mine with 2.7 miles on it. In fact I would probably even refuse a car with 85 miles on it, but that's just me
$300 below invoice? Lol. Demo is another word for USED. That offer is an insult in my book.
It was pointed out the A/C stinks in the 6 in the MAXX-vs-6Wagon-vs-Jetta wagon-vs-etc forum.

Slander doth a stink raise, although my Mazda 6's AC system doth not! (Bless its soul!)
Twisties anyone?
Dinu
What should I look for as far as problems? This morning everything seemed to work very well.
Does this effect my regular braking?
Cookie...I doubt you hurt anything, just don't do that anymore. If the brake was set hard, you would have noticed the drag. Even so, Three miles would have done no noticeable damage.
AC works fine, never cranked the fan above the second to bottom notch; it doesn't cool down super fast but then doesn't feel like a blast either, more like central air in a house.
Had a lot of fun driving around southwest West Virginia (Coalwood, home of Homer Hickam author of Rocket Boys) Far Western VA and Eastern Kentucky. A lot of twisty valley roads on beautiful days. Unfortunately, if you get behind a slow driving car or a truck you're screwed, very hard to pass. You could kill some people, crusing along at 45-50 in a 55 mile zone with a tail of 6-7 cars right behind them... Pull over, dadgummit! Oh well. The car handles wonderfully in this environment especially in places in Kentucky where the road is washing out: you really want to know where your wheels are. But again, the same twisties that make it hard to pass are wonderful when you get 10-20 minutes of clear road ahead. My 4 cyl was fine for these roads and hills, the 6 would have been useful for the short opportunities to pass.

I guess someone has 6 envy???
