My thinking is the comp knows exactly, to the tinniest drop, how much gas is being used, and exactly how far you’ve driven if so, why would this be inaccurate?
tidester, host
Guess I could be mistaken I just assumed.
Odometer is what is used by the comp and for manual calculations, so either way it would be “off” by the same. Now that I think about it most cars speedometer is set slightly lower than actual; meaning if a cop is “clocking” you, your speedometer may read 65 but you may actually be going 62.
I guess in reality keeping track of mileage is only good for noticing if you’re developing some type of engine (or other) problem. Too many variables, even from one day to the next to be “really” accurate, especially if you want to compare to others.
I've mentioned it many times already - I am getting 1.5 - 2 MPG more on any car than my wife. I am listening to the engine more.
However, she gets 16.7 - 17 MPG on our 2.5T AWD using premium (91) under very unfavorable driving conditions - short city "hops" between her students and heavy LA freeway traffic. Just @ EPA figure.
My V 70 is right dead on. Got a ticket for 70 in a 55. Cruise control was on. Cop said 70. I didn't disagree. Ended up getting off. He forgot to sign it or put a bail amount down. LOL Must have been ready for change of shift. It was 430 am.
My previous 03 Accord was clocked by those road side displays (ones with out cops in them) my speedometer said 40, but the road side display showed 32...maybe it was the slower speed.
Question....would the T5 or V8 perform any better or worse at this altitude? What about mud/snow/ and rough dirt rutted roads? MPG at high altitude? I'm used to a 4 wheel drive truck that I can engage according to conditions. We are trying to decide between the T5 and V8 and wondering if there are any opinions out there about these subjects re. mtn./tough road driving? Thks for any words to help us make a decision.
I was quoted a lease on the XC90 T5 - with premium, metallic, rear-park, climate and versatility: first month down, $506.12/month, 4 years, 48k. I was shooting for a little lower after chatting in the "lease questions" forum, but wondered if (in the real world) these numbers look good/bad to others. My figures may have been skewed by mixing lease vspurchase incentives.
Any feedback would be appreciated. I think the dealer incentive
Thanks in advance!
Has anybody tried it? The V8 won't be available up here until August, and the quoted prices seem to be much steeper than in the States.
What about the impact of customs duty and GST (federal taxes). As a permanent resident of Canada, would I have to pay sales tax for the state that I purchase the Volvo in?
I think I can live with the MPH gauge versus Kms per hour. Thanks for any input.
I suspect the duty will hammer you pretty good too. You could buy a car in Oregon (and a few other states) and avoid sales taxes down here, but you'll most likely get hit with your GST and other fees when you import and/or register it in your home province/territory.
The Importing Car into Canada from US discussion isn't very active but you may want to ask in there too.

The T6 is a good engine, but it does have limitations that some people don't like.
The 2.5T is the slowest and most fuel efficient.
Volvo Raises Prices on 2006 Models (Inside Line)

Seriously, feel free to send in a note on the Contact us form and maybe a different article will come down the pike. Thanks!

While there I noticed they had 8 XC90 V8's. Are the V8's not selling well or did they just get a large shipment? They were closed so there was no one to ask, like I would get a straight answer anyway.
For overseas deliveries, 2006 model of XC90 is availabe in August.
It's been a long time since I have bought a used car, and I'm wondering how much room the dealers generally have when negotiating the price of their used Volvo's?
However, this area seems to be more Ford and GMC oriented, so used Volvos are rare anyway.
Certainly, the only used XC90's are at the dealers right now (lease returns, mostly). And, Volvo's don't depreciate very quickly...which is what we want if we hang on to them.
One of the reasons that we've put a deposit on a new one is that even the used ones are still so pricey.
thanks.
Dealer was asking $49,000. It's the 2.5T with convenience, and premium packages, running boards, and trailer hitch (04 model, but on the road june/03). Managed to get it for $47,000 with a 7yr, 160,000km warranty included.
Very happy about it and can't wait to get it home and show it off!
The extra warranty seems like a nice bonus, how many kms on it so far towards the 160K?
The FWD version is 1 mpg better.
We sell quite a few FWD's here in AZ.

True or not?
free scheduled maintenance is not being offered on 06 cars.
Still available on 05's.
Thanks
Thanks
I'd place the order sooner.
My wife now informs me that she can't miss work the first 2 weeks in Oct. so it appears I don't have time to order and pick up mid-September so we can be back by Oct. 3. So I guess I now need to figure out when to order so we don't have to pick it up any earlier than Oct. 15. We are planning a 2 week trip whenever we pick it up. I was hoping to have it back before Xmas but with a drop off no earlier than October 27 that is getting iffy. So the question is when do I order it to ensure pickup no earlier than Oct. 15? Say they tell me it will be ready for pickup earlier, how much leeway do I have to delay pickup?
Thank for any suggestions/help

Also does anyone have mud guards, opinions, and did anyone install them themselves.
Thanks
Actually, its a moot point. All Overseas cars are paid for prior to pickup in Europe.
The deal would be done long before the car makes it to America.
A drop off end of October would be hard pressed to be at the dealer before Xmas.
Only if its an East coast dealer is it really possible.
Yes it will on 87, just not as efficently as on 89 or 91 or 93 octane.
Also, it depends on your driving habits, if you drive slowly and don't accelerate hard lower octane is ok.
If you drive quickly and are a fast accelerater your better off w/ high octane gas.
