Thanks Ikdog. I have found several Altima's and will go check them out. What is your opinion on rebuilt titles? I found a 2007 Nissan Altima S with 27,500 miles on it. Its being offered for $10,000.
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
    rebuilt titles?

I wouldn't touch it unless you want to keep the car forever. Plus, 10K for a base 2.5S w/ rebuilt title is too much, IMO.
  • lkdoglkdog Member Posts: 14
Would not touch a rebuilt title.

    Take your time.
    It is a buyers market.
    Good luck.

I got a few quotes from some dealers in DC area. The lowest price for a 2010 2.5S without any options is around 17000 + TTL. This sounds like a pretty good deal, right?

I guess 17000 already included the $1500 rebate. If I do financing, will I still get this rebate? thanks,
  • lkdoglkdog Member Posts: 14
    That is a good price.
You will have to check about if that is with Financing or not.
Some dealers give a better price with Financing, some charge you more.
It is crazy as the dealers and Nissan make money off of financing-they should charge you less on price then. The Nissan factory financing rates were higher than most banks and credit unions last month, but not sure now. You will have to compare.

One option on the financing would be to take the lowest dealer price and do financing somewhere else.
You should be able to get 3-4% at credit unions.
    Good luck. Nice car.

I have a 2010 3.5SR. Build quality on Altimas is great.

You can get the 2010's for $26,000 or so nicely loaded up with Prem and Sport package.
A lot of car for the money.

I just received the following quote from a dealer in my area.

    2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 S
    Conv Pkg
    Splash Guards
    Alum Kick Plates
    Floor Mats
    MSRP - $24,170
    Quoted - $18,250 + tax.

I thought this sounds decent. Any feedback?
  • mazda6dudemazda6dude Member Posts: 283
I think this is a good deal. The price quoted is almost $6000 under MSRP. The Altima is a great all around car. Where you located?
  • chenbatichenbati Member Posts: 7
    Thanks lkdog!

Unfortunately I found out today that the 17000 is not the final price for a 2.5S.
The dealer actually offered 16888 for a 2.5S. However when I asked the OTD price, I was told that I will be charged a $870 freight fee which was not included in their inital offer. This brings the price up to $17758.

The MSRP is 22580 which should already include a 750 destination fee.

I've called a few dealerships and this is the best price I've received so far.
  • mazda6dudemazda6dude Member Posts: 283
I'd say go for it. The cheapest I have seen 2.5S go for is $16,988 with the MSRP being $23,070. The convenience package runs about $1000 extra. So factoring in the $1000, you are getting a good deal. Regardless of what you decide to do, you are getting a great vehicle.

Paid $23,000 (MSRP $28,100) for conv. and conv. plus pkgs, SL-leather and audio upgrade pkgs. Think I may have been able to do a little better, but I'm happy with it.

I just bought an Altima 2.5S automatic no other accessories included for $16800 inclusive of the 2500 rebate. Is that a good price? I noticed that the rebate for the nissan altima will end Nov.1 so i grabbed that price from the dealership who offered the lowest quote.
  • gooddeal2gooddeal2 Member Posts: 750
That's a crazy price if they don't add $500 or even 1000 fee or the destination charge.

    2010 Nissan Altima 2.5 S
    Conv Pkg
    Splash Guards
    Alum Kick Plates
    Floor Mats
    Rear Spoiler

    Quoted - $18,300 + tax. = $20,436 OTD..Should I go for it?
  • chenbatichenbati Member Posts: 7
    Just made a deal for a 2010 2.5S.

MSRP: $23030 (basic model with splash guard, floor mat, etc)
OTD price: $18050 (including 6% tax)

The downside is that I only got 5.9% APR for 60 months even though I have pretty good credit score. I was told if can get lower ones if I do not do the rebates. but I still think this is a good deal, right?

Feel like crap now...I panicked coz the rebates were ending and pulled the trigger..On the stickjer they had something Conmfort and Convenience..I asked the salesman if that is the convenience package and he said yes..I bought the vehicle for $20,436 OTD (MSRP 20,584)...But now I realize that there is convenicence package !!! The Salesman basically misled me to beleiving that the Comfort and Convenience listed on the sticker is the Convenience package....now i feel lie crap :(..others be careful)..

NMAC's non-special finance rate on Altima's is 3.89% with excellent credit.
  • mazda6dudemazda6dude Member Posts: 283
So you bought a 2.5S with the convenience package for $20,436OTD? Or it didn't have the convenience package?
  • sy_mansy_man Member Posts: 6

nope..it didnt have the convenience package,,,guess i overpaid huh
  • mazda6dudemazda6dude Member Posts: 283
I hate to say it, but you did overpay. I have seen 2.5S's go for as low as $16,888 with a MSRP of $22,785. At least you have a nice car.
  • alwayslooking8alwayslooking8 Member Posts: 5
Went looking, but didn't get the deal I wanted

    What I turned down-

    2010 Altima 2.5s (23,070 MSRP)
    Sale price of 21,7XX
-3000 rebates (all rebates plus college grad)
    +129 doc fee
    = 18,8XX- OTD

Got offered 4.59% with 750+ credit
Needed better sale price and better rate.

Tmorr2k- What is excellent credit? over 800?
  • tmorr2000tmorr2000 Member Posts: 6
My wife's FICO was 825, and was given 3.89% from NMAC with all rebates. I would assume 800+ would get this rate.

Does anyone know if there are November incentives available (either financing or rebates)?
  • skyfan1skyfan1 Member Posts: 37
That sounds like a great rate. I am wondering, how do you find out what your fico score is?

We got the deal of 18000 + tax(which added another 3000)= 21000 IN NJ. We didn't do financing. After reading the replies here I feel ripped, since our deal is for basic package.

He gave 2000 cash rebate and added tax on it, is Cash Rebate tax liable?? We just gave 500 token yet and have to get trade in, so can back out, please tell us if it is a good deal and if not, and does anyone have any suggestion in NJ area.

    Thanks
  • skyfan1skyfan1 Member Posts: 37
Since my Altima has a convenience plus package, I am not sure if your price is good. However, as a general suggestion, did you get quotes from at least 3-4 dealers over the Internet and then negotiate to the best offer you could get? This is most efficient and, from my experience, the best way to get a decent price. I always do better than walking into a dealership and dealing with a sales person on the spot.

No :( we didn't go to 2-3 dealers, we looked at internet and they had best deal, but in fine print they had two more incentives that we didn't get(NMAC and College discount each $500).

Since the cash back was over on Monday, we nogotiated for it. Did you get this price in NJ since in TTl we had to pay (desination handling fee of 750 + Registeration and title fee of 750)

And they added some security package (just some scrath off under backside door for 329:)

Thanks for reponding me, we can still backoff I think..

In CA, new 2010 2.5S go sale on the weekends for $16,888 plus TTL. That is the lowest I have seen on ad. The MSRP is $22,735. I would say use this as your benchmark and go from here. Personally, I wouldn't pay more then $16,888 plus TTL. Good Luck and keep us posted!

    I'm looking at at a 2010 Altima 2.5SL (27,100 MSRP)
    Conv Pkg
    Conv Plus
    SL Pkg
    Splash Guards
    Alum Kick Plates
    Floor Mats

    My Offer was $22,000 OTD,
    Their Offer was $26,000 OTD.

    Is my offer reasonable?

    Hi guys,

I found this 09 Altima 3.5 SL with 13k miles, the dealer is asking for $20,844. I did some searching and found that for a similar year & trim, the dealer was asking for $22900, and it was a certified car. I tried negotiating the price with the dealer and he wouldn't reduce more than 500$ on it. Based on this experience, I am thinking of quoting anything between 18k-19k, do you think I stand a chance,

    let me know,
    Thanks,
    K

I got an offer of 24477 for a 2010 3.5 SR with Prem. & Sports Pkg, 26k for a 2.5 seems way too high
  • alwayslooking8alwayslooking8 Member Posts: 5
I think that's a pretty close offer. If you are not in a competitive market, you may not get your offer. I'd make sure to check a few places. I had major price variations on cars (up to $1,800 on a 2.5s with MSPR of 23,070). The dealership I bought from new 5 years ago was the highest. Thought they'd give me the best deal since I had bought there before and had most of my service done there.

I know you must get this a lot, but I'm looking at a 2011 Altima 3.5 SR with the Sport package and the Bluetooth (which I could take or leave, it's not important to me). With an msrp of $28,140, he offered $25,549 (with all available discounts incentives, and rebates (through an internet quote as special internet pricing) ), but I'm pretty sure I'll only get the $750 cash back so that brings it up to 26,299. My brother said I should offer 25k with floor mats and to say I'd pick it up on Monday. Do you think I should offer him 25k with floor mats or just go 25.5k with the floor mats and not push it? (I live in upstate New York if it matters).

So, what do you think, should i try for any more or let it go?

I'd appreciate any help you could give
  • damiancdsdamiancds Member Posts: 2
I couldn't figure out how to edit my previous post, but I wanted to say to forget my questions, I've decided to go in a different direction for my next car (used - subaru (awd for upstate NY winters) )

    thanks,

    where do you live?
I am looking for 2010 Altima S with SL package.
I live in NYC, but i will travel to find a good deal.
If I dont find a SL package, I will simply get the basic model.
    any help is appreciated
  • zoom08zoom08 Member Posts: 75
how about paying invoice for base model altima S?
is that a good deal or should I aim lower?
  • alwayslooking8alwayslooking8 Member Posts: 5
    bought this weekend-

2.5s with mudguards and floormats- MSRP- 22,9xx
(Found kick plates on ebay from another dealer)

    17,901 with 199 doc= 18,100 OTD (after grad rebate)

Would have gotten better deal last month (extra $500 rebate), but I gambled and lost. Still happy with 23K well built car for 18K.
  • mazda6dudemazda6dude Member Posts: 283
Congratulations! Thats a excellent deal. Can't beat getting a car with a MSRP of $22,9xx for $18,100 OTD. Its a great car!
  • kenleslie76kenleslie76 Member Posts: 22
Dude.. $18,100 OTD???? I don't believe in that deal. No such deal for $18,100. Did he add the taxes on? Gotta be more than $18.1 K.
  • tmastmas Member Posts: 8
I've seen "crazy" deals the GM takes to steal market share and your offer isn't even close to those. Nobody needs to sell an SL that bad.

Sounds like you should remove the SL package and ditch Conv.+ to be happy in the purse.

You offered on OTD? That means taxes, fees, registration, tire, title, adverts., AND a full tank of gas? If you can get under $24k as a price, you deserve a pat on the back. Tax and fees are non-negotiable and thus you should not negotiate OTD figures. But to be $4k away on your offer means they're not expecting you to show up again anyhow. I think you should lease it.
  • alwayslooking8alwayslooking8 Member Posts: 5
For an apples to apples comparison-
The sale price was 17,901 and the Doc fee was 199. Total 18,100.
I also had the grad rebate included in my sale price ($500). West County Nissan in STL. I priced many dealers...Fitzmall in PA was also very low, but too much to get it shipped to me.

In Missouri, you pay taxes when you register the car. Sorry for the confusion.
  • sy_mansy_man Member Posts: 6
So OTD- you paid 18,100+ taxes (inlcusive of grad rebate) ?
  • chenbatichenbati Member Posts: 7
    edited November 2010
FYI, I got a 2.5S (MSRP 23070) for 18060 OTD a couple of weeks ago. This includes 6% sales tax.

The dealer is in VA around DC area. But the car will be registered in PA, so paying PA tax.
  • alwayslooking8alwayslooking8 Member Posts: 5
Sy_Man-Yes. I didn't include tax figures b/c those are different for everyone and I sold my last car for close to half of the Altima's price.

...an offer of 18800+TTL for 2.5S with conv. pkg & mats...

Do you like the car and are you "under sticker"? Honestly, if you don't like the car no price is good enough. If your total purchase of the car you love is under the original sticker price out the door...You got a great deal. Take it and stop wasting everybody's time!
