I was able to purchase an LE without power seat for $19888. No grad. discount
  • dfwdewddfwdewd Member Posts: 14
Got it! That is actually a very good price IMO. I'm fairly confident that your sales tax will be 6.25% for a new car. Its not the same as regular sales tax. Around $225 for both DMV and dealer doc fee. (i.e. OTD $29,870-$500 Edmunds rebate) Did you specify the VIN number or did they just find one for you? Which dealership was it? I have seen cars online with the same exact specs but their discounts are all over the place, very puzzling! Thank you.

seems like a very good deal. What state do you live in?

We are considering to buy 2012 Camry SE V6 with conv package and w/o leather. We have been quoted $29000 OTD price with taxes and fees. Is this a good price? Or should we negotiate more? I was hoping to pay around $27000 OTD with taxes and fees. Is this realistic? Also, we have been quoted $1895 for 8yr/125000 extended warranty. I read on this forum that we can get it for around $1000. Is that true? Where do I buy if not from the local dealer?
  • auttautt Member Posts: 20
29k wit taxes and fees is a good price for a v6 with the conv. pack. However right now the financing is pretty crappy. 2.9% over here in Columbus, Ohio. I would wait until the end of the year and aim for 28500 for this car with 0.9% financing.
  • auttautt Member Posts: 20
I don't like the crappy cloth seats on the Camry and I hate the white/ivory cloth inserts. I found a SE V4 with leather and black inserts that was more appealing. I suck at directions so I really need a nav. I don't mind getting the cheaper smaller screen nav. I could also live without the conv. package and the sunroof/moonroof.

I was quoted 25k + tax and fees for this car. OTD price is to $26900. However the financing is 2.9 - 3.5%. I want 0 - .9% financing and 25k out the door price on this car. Is this reasonable? I am willing to wait until the Toyotathon event or end of the year. With the competition in mid-size car what it is, I am hoping Toyota will pull out all the stops to sell this car by September - December 2012. What do you guys think? Am I being completely unrealistic? I don't understand why car makers price V4 as high as a V6 with just a couple more options! I would think the bigger engine would be much costlier than a couple of patches of leather and a navigation system that probably cost them $150. Heck even the lcd screen is standard now, we are talking only a little chip that is crappier than my iPhone!!

I recently bought 2012 Camry SE with power seat and mats for $21360 + tax and title.
OTD $23000. If anybody interested in this kind of deal let me know and I will give the information of the dealer and sales person. If you want to add any other option then just add the invoice price of that option to $21360.

The sales person told me that he will able to do this kind of deal with the available incentives till 03/05/2012. You can contact me at ahtexas07 at gmail. :)
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
That sounds like a good deal, did you qualify for any special incentives?
  • mj78indmj78ind Member Posts: 8
Just bought a Toyota Camry LE 2012 Cosmic Gray Base model auto trans (w/ floor mats - front and back, no power seat and no other extra features) for $21,691.
With a $500 Edmunds rebate should come out to $21,191.

    Here goes the break up:
    $20,079 Base price + $760 dest fees + $161.3 Doc fees + $25 EVR = $21,025.3 + 7% tax (on $21,025.3 = $1,471.8) + $194 Tax and Title = $22,691 - $1,000 Grad rebate = $21,691 OTD price

Also got good financing, so overall am happy. The forums and people such as Aish were really helpful.

    Thanks!!

    Mayank
  • ahuahu Member Posts: 14
I qualified total of $1000 incentives. $500 for financing with Toyota and $500 for owner loyalty.
  • alamocityalamocity Member Posts: 680
You got a good deal, the San Antonio dealers are difficult to work with, and most of the vehicles have a lot of add-ons installed on them.
  • ahuahu Member Posts: 14
Why not you talk to the sales person agree on the price and pick the car from Houston. (If the difference is enough to consider buying in Houston).
  • auttautt Member Posts: 20
    Hi,

I bought a Super White Toyota Camry 2012 SE V4 with Nav & Entune plus Black Leather Trim with Black Cloth Inserts. It had 500 miles when i bought it.

No other options. (NO heated seats, NO Conv. Package, NO Rear-view Camera, No HD based GPS, No backseat ac/heating vent).

    Price Break Down:

    Dealer Price: 23260
    Document Fees: 250
    Selling Price: 23510
    Sales Tax: 1587
    Title: 33.50
    Total: 25130

    Financing Breakdown:

    Down Payment: $10000
    Financing: $15130 for 60 months
    Interest Rate: 2.74%
    Financing Fees: $195
Total Cost of financing for 60 months: $1294
    Early Payment Penalty: $150
Final Amount with interest after 60 months: $16425

Final Amount Paid for car after Dealer Price + Tax + Title + Fees + 60 months of Interest =
    $26620

All Toyota's come with 2 year 25000 mile warranty. That is at least 2 Synthetic Oil changes and 2 years worth of road side assistance. That is 3 oil changes total including the original oil. Plus they do checks of all fluids and tire pressure every 5000 miles or 6 months plus any recall info. will be checked and car fixed.

Please use Toyota Recommended fully synthetic oil: 0w20

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Its better to buy a 2012 Toyota Camry SE with Nav and Entune with leather trim.

    1. Better Tires
First you get 17' Michelin Tires even with the v4. These are much superior to the 16' energy tires that come with the LE. I found that they where definitely better in the Snowy/Rainy conditions of the Midwest. The 18' you get with the v6 are ridiculous for a family level sedan but hey I doubt many will complain! Then you get alloy wheels!! Gosh that makes the car look a lot better.

    2. Fog Lights plus better grille and front facia including laser cut headlights
The fog lights by themselves would be 350 to 400 but Toyota is also throwing in a different grille as well as sportier looking headlights. Add this to the better tires and you are already talking a lot of value over the LE.

    3. Leather trim
This is a very important choice as it makes the biggest difference in the kind of car you walk away with. I got black leather trim with black cloth inserts. I would recommend this for any 2012 Toyota Camry. Stay away from cloth seats with ivory inserts and IMHO the other type of non-netting solid cloth seat inserts were pretty crappy looking as well. Just get the black netting cloth insert with the black leather trim. (Ok fine its not real leather, its Soft-Tex Leather). I actually got the :
Sport fabric SofTex-trimmed front seats with seatback pockets; 8-way power-adjustable driver's seat with power lumbar support; 4-way adjustable front passenger seat

    4. Navigation with Entune
How cool is it to have streaming Pandora or iHeart Radio for free through my Sprint Unlimited Data plan! (Really, Really cool). Then you add that it also updates real time traffic and road construction! That is really, really cool. But it does from you smart phone so you pay nothing extra. (OK fine in 3 years you will pay something for Entune but I am thinking it won't be too large an amount and may end up being free!)
Plus throw in a voice controlled Navigation system with very precise turn by turn directions. It not only lets you recall fav. addresses by voice but also lets you look up POI by voice. For example, I was able to say: "Point of Interest Library". Then select from a menu of options very quickly to go to the nearest Public Library. It took around 3 minutes total by voice command!!
Then you have integrated Bluetooth handsfree dialing and phonebook sync. I could say: Dial 366099999 and it would dial it! Sweet! Finally you add the bluetooth streaming audio if you forget to bring your USB cord with you and you got yourself some music still!! Finally if your cell signal isn't working, it does come with 90 days XM Sat radio. Free OTA HD Radio and FM, AM channels. If that was not enough you also get a CD player that plays, MP3's and WMA files on disc. Come on its a steal! (Some of the features do come in the LE but IMHO the Entune system makes it feel like a complete system.)

Thanks, so OTD $23000 is the price after your incentives $1000 off? In other words, the OTD is $24k if no incentives? Look forward to seeing your reply.
  • sergeymsergeym Member Posts: 284
Fine arguments, but where are you going to find a Camry with V4 engine? Never heard about such an animal.
  • skiezskiez Member Posts: 1
    2012 Camry SE V4 with power seat/moon roof/ mats/ vehicle shield

    Sticker price= $25,804 + $300 for dealer add on.
    Dealer price = $26,104

Got it for $22900 + tax and title.
Did I got a good deal?
  • dbabladbabla Member Posts: 10
We are getting a SE V6 with navigation, moonroof, conv pack, no leather for $26900 OTD including all taxes and fees. This is in California.
  • ahuahu Member Posts: 14
Yes, that is correct $23000 OTD includes $1000 incentives ($500 owner loyalty and $500 for financing with Toyota). Without incentives will be $24000 OTD.
  • auttautt Member Posts: 20
Lol!Yeah I agree but this may be the last time I can get a vivti engine. Toyota will move to other engine type soon and I just love the reliability of this engine. With gentle driving and 5000 mile oil changes it could last for 20 plus years and 250k miles with only wear n tear basic maint. That to me is why I buy Toyota!
  • auttautt Member Posts: 20
I just bought an SE v4 for 25100 OTD. I guess thats 2000 extra I paid for softtex leather and gps entune. I know it's just vanity n stupidness to pay that much more for synth leather n crappy gps but couldn't bear the ugly cloth IMHO seats and blank ish LCD screen without GPS. I guess they got me!!! Good Job staying above the sales tactics n Toyota crap!
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
What he is saying is there is no such thing as a "V4" engine. It is an I4, or "Inline 4". The Camry 6 cylinder engines are V6, because the cylinders are in the shape of a V (3 on one side, 3 on the other, at approx. a 45 degree angle). The 4 cylinders are not v-shaped, they are in line, and vertical above the crankshaft. Hope that clears things up, as I see LOTS of people making this mistake.
  • ahuahu Member Posts: 14
I think you got similar price as mine, I think GPS invoice is around $900 and approx $1000 for the leather so roughly $2000 difference for the extra options.

Has anyone bought camry (I am looking for XLE trim) in bay area?

Can you please share the target price I should be looking at ( I am receiving internet quotes for dealer invoice).

Also if you can recommend a good dealer that would be very helpful.

Did you get Backup camera and moonroof ? ..
  • auttautt Member Posts: 20
    Hey,
    Camry SE 2012
I got it for 23260 or 25100 OTD. No moonroof/sunroof, heated seats or backup camera.

Just entune nav and leather trim power seats.
  • j06j06 Member Posts: 90
    Thanks…

Toyota site shows MSRP $28,500 for SE 4 cylinder with all options except Navigation. There is no navigation option for SE 4 cylinder.

I am thinking about getting new car… Thought about Certified Honda Accord, but the cabin is noisy. I am not well pleased with new Camry style. Thinking about getting certified 2009-2011 SE. What you think? How’s the ride on the new model?

I never drove a Toyota assembled in US. My Highlander is from Japan and corolla from Canada. Some people mentioned that the ones assembled in US feel different. I mean it’s not well build.
  • auttautt Member Posts: 20
    Hi,

The 6.1 inch entune Nav is available at the SE Trim level even at the V4. There is a 7.1 inch hard drive based nav that is not available except in XLE. Hard to find in Columbus most are equipped with only conv. package and soft tex leather trim. I bought mine for 25100 OTD price. Had soft tex leather trim, 6.1 inch nav but no heated seats or back up camera.
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
If you get used, get a 2010 or newer, because the 2010s have the newer 2.5L engine, which is smoother, quieter, and better mpg than the older 2.4L in the 2009 and before.

The engine in the new 2012 is basically the same as the 2010-2011, just with a bit different tuning, etc. I have ZERO problems with my Kentucky built, 85% North American part content Camry. I think the folks did a fantastic job. I don't think they are even building Camrys in Japan - either KY or IN. In my lifetime, I have had only ONE problem that could be blamed on assembly. The engineering is what counts. A lot of the engineering of the Camry is done here (CA and MI), by the way. Personally, I have had 4 Toyotas built in the US, 2 Canada, and one Japan. Guess which one had an assembly error? The Japan built.

Very quiet cabin compared to Accord. Suspension on an SE will be firm (too firm for some), but better handling, if you like that sort of thing. But the new (2012) suspension for both the SE and non-SE models is a bit tighter than the 2011 and older models. I read that most people really like it.

    Hey,

If you are thinking of buying a new mid-size sedan then you have a decision to make. The Toyota gives you a great ride, excellent fuel mileage, awesome engine, great tech package for a good price. On the other hand the exterior is pretty ugly compared to the Nissan Altima, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima. Even the Accord has a better front facia. I ended up buying the Camry mainly because of the practicality and value. If you want looks then this is def. not the car for you. I thought that Nissan Altima had better handling and sportier feel but it had a very loud engine noise and the engine felt strained at higher gears. Honda Accord was between the Altima and Camry in handling but it had a lot of road noise. Sonata and Optima would be great except I don't like their engine, its not a VVT-i. I have had 2 2001 toyota corolla's with this engine type from Toyota and I have to say that its been reliable and trustworthy even with lots of abuse over the years. Also if you are looking at prices other than the Korean's all the other car companies start their GPS tech package at a higher level that hits closer to 27500 OTD. You may be able to get a Accord V6 at this price level with leather seats and navigation. But that was 2100 more than my budget and I wanted a fuel efficient car. That is no V6. At that point the camry with 25100 OTD was unbeatable value.

It’s very hard to find 2010-2011 SE.. I checked many dealers nearby. They each have at least 10 LE… one or two SE… And most of them are 2008-2009. Found one 2010,
Super White, 20K miles with black leather interior. They are asking $18,900. I might have to wait for 2010-2011 models.
  • j06j06 Member Posts: 90
Thanks… Investing $20-25K.. No to Korean Manufactured Cars. But like their tires (Hankook/Kumho)… Nissan/Honda can’t match the ride and handling of Toyota.
  • auttautt Member Posts: 20
Best advise I ever got for car shopping. Japanese cars have good resale values meaning they are overpriced if you are buying used. German cars have poor resale value meaning they are overpriced new. Buy a 2012 Passat in a few years and you will get awesome value. Don't buy a 2012 camry in a few years used because it will sell for 4 or 5k below what they bought it for new while Passat will be selling for 8k to 9k below value. Why pay 3 or 4k premium on a used car. I love Toyota but since 2008 most car companies have matched toyota for reliability.
  • j06j06 Member Posts: 90
I can get the $18,900 car for $17,000 OTD.

Yes that is true… you will be paying less and taking big headache... It will be like a FORD >> Fixed or repaired daily : )

Also Mitsubishi have poor resale value… My brother bought 97 Galant ES 40K miles in 99 for $8,000 from a dealer.. Awesome car.. nice ride.. tranny went down @59K … fixed under warranty… car was totaled due to an accident… That model Galant have problem with belt designs.. I don’t know which belt.. but used to make so much noise from 60K

1993 model Diamante is one of my favorite.. Awesome Mitsu

Yes, buying a used Toyota, Honda, etc. is very expensive.

Toyota but since 2008 most car companies have matched toyota for reliability

I agree that most manufacturers have very high reliability to the point were there is not a huge difference like there used to be.

If you believe the latest JD Powers 3 year dependability just released, Toyota still beats just about everyone - #1 Lexus, #2 Porsche, #3 Cadillac & Toyota.

    1. Stability control VSC
    2. Traction Control
    3. ABS
    4. Break Assist
    5. 10 Air Bags
    6. High Strength Steel columns
    7. Electronic Power Steering
    8. Crumple Zones
    9. Stability bars

I bought a Camry 2012 SE V4 with leather trim power seats and Navigation/Entune package. It does not have heated seats, rearview camera, back passenger air vents. Price I paid was 23260 and it was 25100 OTD with fees, tax and title thrown in. With SE you sacrifice some low speed ride quality for better handling, fog lights, better tires and less body float in higher speed road bumps. The SE comes standard with 17' alloy wheels, fog lights and projector-beam headlights plus paddle shifters. Overall impression: You are buying a Camry so you are not buying it for the looks. If you are like me you are an aforementioned 'sheeple' who buys for low maintenance costs, gas mileage, comfortable ride, reliability and low final price. This Camry gives me all that plus 10 airbags of safety and ultra high strength steel construction. Also VSC, TRAC, ABS, EBD, BA, Smrt. Stop. If you are looking for a new car that has navigation and smart phone connectivity for less than 25k, then you can't beat the new Camry. I checked against Optima, Sonata, Altima, Accord, Passat. Each had at least a 2k bump up if you opted for the navigation/tech package. Camry came with power Soft-Tex leather trim seats with power lumbar support and side bolsters. A few nice touches for this SE: Paddle shifters, big sized cup holders, folding seats with trunk access, lots of storage space, better than average space for rear leg room, seat breadth and width, headroom etc.
  • mcdawggmcdawgg Member Posts: 1,722
You mean you bought an I4, not a V4 - there is no such thing as a V4.

Yes, it is a nice car - congrats.

Got a really incredible deal on a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE with all packages today in Virginia. MSRP $34705. I paid $31045 (including freight) + $389 processing + tax and fees. That's well under invoice and even under invoice minus holdback. This was the lowest price quote in the DC metro area I received by far.

Cosmic Grey Mica. I traded my 2007 Camry Hybrid with 104,000 miles--negotiated after the purchase price was agreed to. On that one, the dealer beat CarMax by $500 so I was satisfied.

Its a much different car than the previous version. Interior is a huge upgrade--materials in particular. I tested the 6.1 Entune system and really felt the Premium HDD system was worth the upgrade. Looking forward to figure out how to use it! Engine noise is also much less. I thought wind noise was a little more prominent, but I'm not really sure yet because when I got out of the car tonight there was a 30 mph crosswind! Love the Cosmic Grey Mica.

Has anyone purchased a 2012 Camry SE V6 in Southern California? I am willing to travel all over So Cal from LA, Orange and San Diego counties. Looking specifically for the Out-the-Door price on Camry SE V6 with the Convenience Package, moon roof and no leather.

This forum has helped me figure out how to buy my first car.. so I thought i'd help out and tell you what i got

    SF Bay Area

    Dec. 10, 2011

Silver Camry SE 2012 I4 with carpet mats, entune/nav (no JBL), powered drivers seat with the powered side view mirrors, and all black interior with leather trimmed seats
internet dealer quoted me for invoice price. $23500

so out the door i paid basically $2600 and 3 hours of my life.

and I was able to snag one of Edmunds.com Ipad2 rebate. which came less than two months later =)
all black 32g ipad2 worth $650. i thought i was going to get sent a check to buy it, but i was literally sent the iPad =)

Maybe, I could have gotten a better price, but the dealers were already fighting me to raise the price!
I agreed on the $23500 the internet sales pearson quoted me, and the salesperson i was dealing with went to check with his manager after I signed the quote, and they tried to upsell me to $23800. :confuse: :confuse:

told them, if they don't wnana give me the price I agreed to, I'll walk. I don't need to buy the car today and I got places to be. In the end, I got the car, and a price i was satisfied with, and an iPad.
careful though. after i got the prices, they tried to convince me to apply through their financing so they can shop around me after i repeatedly told them I had my own financing. They even try to pull a fast one on me, and told me for legal purposes I had to fill the finance form out with my name, SSN, and signature to verify I lived in CA, after I refused to apply through their finance department. I made a big fuss and another "floor manager" came over and explained what it was for. After more discussion, they conceded and said the credit check is not necessary, nor was my SSN, just my signature.

So be careful folks, don't let them trick you into touching that finance form unless you really intend to use their financing. I've heard stories of them running your credit when you were told you weren't.
in this economy, we can't afford our credit scores to get dinged by unnecessary credit checks.
    ::gets off soapbox::

anyways it's been 2 months and 2300 miles later and i'm still a happy camper with my car =)
hope you all love your car as much as i do.

I can't promise I'll be able to do that...happy to give a general idea. I would advise montoring the Green Car forum which tends to log that sort of information.

On my 2007, for the life of the car I probably averaged about 33 mpg. I actually got better highway mileage than city. In my very limited driving with this one, it appears that the in dash monitor is actually more realistic. The previous-gen model usually was optimistic by about 1 mpg. This one told me I got 38.6 on the highway trip home from the dealer, averaging around 70 mph. This tank is really not going to be accurate because I've spent a lot of time in the car idling while I got things set up and played with the nav. We'll see how it does. I'd be happy with 36 or so for my driving, which is pretty rough.

Base LE + floormat. Total is $27168 out of door in Southern CA. More than one dealer is willing to sell at this price.

For the initial 100 miles got around 40MPG when drive very gently. Overall very quiet, wind noise is noticeable,

The dealer in Round Rock, first walked by and quoted 1969 Down and 567/pm, after pointing out this offer, and a few trips of going back and forth, came back stating that the taxes at 6.25% on the MSRP and TAX on the monthly payment.

Roughly 3500.00 and 267.00 / PM. Why am I being taken for a ride, hate car sales folks. Please let me know what is the best deal I can get in Texas.

    Thanks

    a frustrated car buyer.
