36 month lease . $3000 total drive off. $500 per month including tax. 18k residual buyout. It was based on 1000 off sticker. I know... it seems high. I'm sure it will come down for those of you who wait. I guess I wanted the car now (and my old lease was up), and I always lease... so I probrobly should have bought it with low intrest rates the way they are. I got impulsive ... but at least i like the car.

here. Maybe you didn't understand the post. In the STATES Premium gas is 91 octane (or 93 which is the minium or above what is being asked) or what your manual refered to as "regular unleaded". Regular unleaded in the states is 87 octane. Maybe gas stations in Canada sell 96 octane all over the place, but they don't in the US.

Am on the cusp of purchasing a nearly fully loaded (no DVD but NAV, Cold, Popular, Dynamic Control) SE AWD. All the internet stuff (cars direct, edmunds, etc.) and the local dealers seem to want full MSRP ($37,885). Got one dealer talked down to $1,000 less than MSRP which isn't all that bad I guess since the MSRP is only $3,835 over invioce. I checked out car max (saw above) which looks like and East Coast thing. Anybody know of a Pacific NW dealer or internet place where the number's are better than above???. CANADA???? I don't want to wait a year. I've already taken 6 months having test driven Tracker's, Trailblazer's, Tahoe's, Escapes, Expedition's, Explorer's, 4 Runner's, Pathfinders, Highlander's, Cimarron's, etc. and the Murano is the one.

Thanks in advance! Happy New YEar!!!

Please re read my post. pppower you are confusing the two ways of measuring octane. What is posted at the pump is AKI or antiknock index. The recomended octane in the manual is the lower of the two readings (AKI)so an 87 octane. This is the 87 octane you have in the states for regular fuel. The higer 91 RON is a different measurement, not the measurement used at the pumps. I shouldn't have listed it as it can be confusing.

This further information should clear it up.

With so many independent factors influencing octane requirement, no single method best defines antiknock performance. A reasonable guide to the gasoline’s road octane number--that is, how the gasoline performs in a multicylinder engine operating under real driving conditions--is the antiknock index (AKI)or octane rating that is posted on the service station dispenser (87, 89, 92, etc.). This octane rating is calculated by adding two different measurements of octane number ("Research" and "Motor") and then dividing by two. Hence, (R+M)/2. Each octane measurement is done in a specially designed, single-cylinder engine. The difference between the two measurements is caused by the engine’s operating conditions, and the Research octane number (RON)is usually nine to eleven numbers higher than the Motor (M) octane number.

Parker Ford/ Nissan is offering $1500 off MSRP on a White with tan leather. I'm pretty sure they will go lower. There are just across the Pullman, WA border in Moscow, ID
  • ppowerppower Member Posts: 93
AKI rating is what you want. Thought the RON measurement is what was being used on the pump.

I spoke to several car dealers over the weekend and I actually got one that will sell me the SL FWD w/Traction control (fully loaded - except for the NAV) for $500 over invoice ($31,000). I live in West Los Angeles where there are at least 5 dealerships near me and have only seen 2 Muranos on the road. I would love to buy a Murano today, but I don't want to pay more than what I could get a fully loaded (with everything!!!) Highlander-Limited AWD for $29,000.
  • ppowerppower Member Posts: 93
what dealer will sell you a fully loaded Highlander limited with AWD for $29,000?! Heck, even carmax has a limited priced at $31,000+ for an invoice price and it doesn't even have AWD.

    From Consumerguide.com

AWD Limited 4-door wagon invoice $27,405
    destination charge $510
    leather package $856
    Sunroof $720
    AM/FM radio w/in-dash 6-disc CD changer $150
    Antiskid system $559
    Floormats $109
    Total invoice price $30,309.

Want to add heated seats to that above add $352.

Do a search on carmax.com for Highlander limited with 4WD and you will see the ones that are fully loaded or near fully loaded are selling for $31,000 and that includes the special $800 discount they have going right now at the DC/Baltimore location. At $29,000 the dealer would be selling you a loaded Highlander about $2k+ below invoice! You have to compare apples to apples.

I'm close to purchasing the Murano. The antenna looks fixed (not retractable). Does it need to be removed to go through a car wash, and if so, how easy is that? Thanks.

Happy New Year everyone! I'm in the Mississauga/Brampton Ontario area and I was wondering if any of you knew what the Muranos Canadian 'Invoice' price is? Thanks.

Why does my wife hate the Murano? I know she wants to replace her 1998 Outback with another Outback and doesn't want to drive a minivan or an SUV but to me the Murano represents the best yet execution of a cross-over. How can she possibly confuse the Murano with a mini-van? For that mater, how can she confuse the ML320 with a mini-van? Will her opinion change if I force her to drive it?
  • dklaneckydklanecky Member Posts: 559
I have a similar problem with my wife and the Murano. She doesn't like the looks of the Murano at all, thinks it looks "goofy". She also won't touch a mini-van and wants "us" to pick up a new SUV sometime in the next 1-6 months.

I like the Murano a lot and am about 90% sold on it being my next vehicle but I really wish I could get her to appreciate it more. Maybe it's just a male/female perspective styling issue?

For the record, I haven't been able to get my wife in it for a test ride/drive yet either and that is what really sold me on the overall performance and utility of the crossover design.
  • cookie01cookie01 Member Posts: 369
I love the looks of the Murano. The style, the interior, and of course, the drive. I find that woman have WAY stronger tastes in the "looks" of a vehicle than most men do.

My next door neighbor bought his wife a car as a surprise, but HE got the surprise when after about 4 months she said she just couldn't drive it. (Honda Accord, gold, she said "Grandma Car" and I agree).

My husband and I solve all this by splitting the cars, he drives what he likes and I drive what I like. So far, it's worked out. He's about ready for a new vehicle and unless he asks my opinion, I'm not saying a word... *unless he wants a crysler...*

Lucky me. My wife, who first introduced me to Nissans, is the one driving our plan to replace our '95 Maxima with a Murano. She LOVES it. She first found it on the Internet, loved the look. When we finally got to test drive one, she loved it even more.

I love it, too. The only problem is money. As a teacher in a one-income household, I'd like to hang onto our Maxima for another year or two, for it runs beautifully and it's not going to depreciate much at all. But my wife would like the Murano as soon as possible, and financially it's a real stretch.

We even got an offer for a fully loaded one more than $2000 below MSRP, but we couldn't justify the $2K for the Nav...

    Unlucky me.

the Pathfinder and the Xterra. From what I hear, the Patfinder is due for a redesign soon. A new Full-size truck will debut soon, as well as a full-size SUV (which could be the next Pathfinder) I am not sure though.

Clocked 27.5 mpg at 65mph on the freeway with A/C on. Went about 30 miles. Pretty flat on the 405 in Los Angeles. 2 people in car. The other brands cant beat that !

City only is still only around 14 mpg average with A/C. Hoping that will improve.

I'd appreciate it if anyone who has purchased the Murano and also got the satellite radio option installed could comment.

My wife and I leased our Murano in mid-December. When we asked about having the sat radio option installed, we were initially told it would cost $1250 (yikes!!), and then when we pressed the issue we were then told it was a "port installed" option and not available at the dealer yet.

It was my understanding that the upgraded radio can have either Sirius or XM radio installed (our radio has the "SAT" button on the face)via some type of module which would cost $200 - $300 installed. I love XM radio (I have it in my other vehicle) and am going through withdrawal without it in the Murano. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks!
  • dochsdochs Member Posts: 1
Motorman, I am in the same boat as you on the Satellite Radio. I have emailed both Bose and Nissan to check on availability of the XM Radio, but I have not received any answers.

The XM web site does list the Murano as a dealer installed option but my dealer knows nothing about it.

I bought a black Murano with tan leather interior. It looks nice together. Of course, the black looks best when it's clean and shiny. I've gotten compliments from friends, family, and strangers all over town. Kinda funny to get attention just because of the car you drive, but who's complaining?
  • badbillyboybadbillyboy Member Posts: 3
Motorman and dochs, you're not alone - I have been unable to find out anything about XM and my Murano - the service department knows nothing and referred me to a local car stereo place which does a lot of XM installations, but the guy there knew nothing, either. If you find out anything, please post a message and I'll do the same. Thanks . . .

In an earlier post I asked if anyone who had driven a Murano could tell me about compression braking. There were no replies. Today I drove a Murano and came down a hill I would normally drive 3 times a week. The hill is about 8 miles long and drops 2000 vertical feet. In drive, the Murano did not provide enough compression braking to keep the vehicle below, 60 mph, the maximum speed permitted. When I moved the shift lever to the right to downshift, the tach went up 4K or over and slowed the vehicle down to below 45 mph. To keep my desired speed of 60 mph I needed to be in the downshifted mode with my foot on about half throttle or else be in drive mode and ride the brakes all the way down.
Perhaps I am missing something but based on today's experience I would not wish to purchase a Murano. For Murano owners let me know if there is another way of doing this.
The Murano performed well going up the hill.

My wife hates the looks of the Murano too. Go figure. I think it has to do with the rear end and the huge wheels. She was really impressed with the interior though.
  • ppowerppower Member Posts: 93
contraire mon frere burning a CD only takes me the time to pick out the songs then let it burn while I do other things. As for the listening to the same old stuff, I get the latest music (for free I might add :) ) and burn it.

used to that style of looks. It is a coming trend. Infiniti FX35 and FX45, Cadillac SRX, BMW X3, VW Touareg, and Porsche Cayenne just to name a few. The cross-over SUV look is the next trend. Manufacturers are moving away from the tank size/gas guzzling Excursion look.

Been there, done that, went back to the radio (still on AM/FM though)

Of course I'm limping along on a PII-300 that'll be 6 years old next May, so it doesn't multitask too hot....

No responses to your post in the XM discussion yet eh? That'll be fun to watch :-)

The Murano isn't on our radar yet at the LA show (link ), but it's supposed to be splashing big at the Detroit Auto Show in a week plus.

don't like to burn CDs. You need burn-proof just so your cpu can keep up with the burner...LOL, I do feel for ya though. My old system was a celeron 300a overclocked to 450mhz with 128mb memory with a SCSI 4x CD burner. System still runs, gave it to my parents. As, for the burner I donated it. It is from the era of when they where hell to get to burn right. Need a set of matching coasters? I can hook you up! :)

Wanted to see what hornets would come out of the wood over there if I shook the tree some...>;)

Don't like to pay subscriptions, it is what the world is coming to. Everything is fee based now. You watch in another 10 years major sports will be all pay-per-view. You can thank the insane salaries for that. :(

I'm looking to buy the SL AWD, but without the Dynamic Control Pkg (which requires the leather pkg and sunroof). Anyone have any experience or thoughts on this choice?

Also, I have yet to find a Murano with cloth seats. Are they attractive/comfortable? I've been told availability for my choice (SL AWD Cloth) is anywhere from "today" to "two or three months." If the dealer needs to do a special order for it, how long should it take?

By the way, prices I've found here north of NYC are ranging from no discount at all to about $2K off MSRP when pressed. If I understand it correctly, Carmax doesn't cover my area and CarsDirect doesn't offer a discount yet on this car. Is there another way to go to get closer to dealer invoice. (Is $400 over invoice reasonable?)
  • dklaneckydklanecky Member Posts: 559
I'm using the CarMax pricing as leverage with my local Nissan dealer. My target price is now 8.5% below MSRP (Loaded SE w/Nav)

My point to him is that I can fly to SC for <$300 and drive my new vehicle back home over the weekend. He also knows that I always get them serviced at his dealership anyhow and we all know that the dealerships make way more money servicing cars than selling them (new at least).

We'll see how it goes but I have yet to see a Murano SE with Nav for sale anywhere so it's kind of pointless so far!
  • wildcorgiswildcorgis Member Posts: 84
I've seen and sat in several with cloth seats. Very comfortable, durable and nice looking. The one I liked was the Cabernet . which looked more like the clay soil you find in the South . It felt like a mix between nice terry cloth and felt. The only thing against it is I think there are some nice options with the leather pkg- HID lights and seat memory, etc.

My wife also doesn't like the looks of the Murano. I think the short hood and long dash gives it the kind of minivan look . Same with the with the Mercedes ML tall and kind of rounded which makes the hood look short.

I was at the Auto Show in San Diego and didn't see the FX45. Will it be at the LA show?

I have the charcoal cloth seats and I like them. My only complaint is the dog hair sticks to them. IMHO the cabernet closth seats were horrendous, the dealer said they would never order them again and tried to cancel their order on the other ones coming in. Here is a link to my pictures with the charcoal cloth. My apologies for the pictures.

I just bought an SE AWD with Navigation. The engine runs like if it had 10,000 miles on it. Does anyone know if you really need to observe a break-in period in this vehicle?

Something else, the Navigation in this vehicle is awesome.
  • vadpvadp Member Posts: 1,025
There are some universal rules for the break-in period if you're planning on keeping your car for a long time.

Here is a link(don't pay attention to the oil weight recommendation):

Does anyone have specifics on how to properly use the "S" gear on the Murano? The Owner's Manual refers to this as second gear, but I've seen other references to it as "Sport".

I've noticed more get up and go when taking off in this gear, but I was wondering if there were any restrictions on when NOT to use it, like a maximum speed or something.
  • cookie01cookie01 Member Posts: 369
Saw the first sign of any advertising for the Murano. Last weeks Sports Illustrated had a huge two-page color spread.

If you've seen it you'll know what I mean, I think Nissan really has a certain group of people in mind for this car. Bummer... Because I think cars appeal to folks for different reasons.
I'm not a yuppy wine drinking exec... In fact, from what I read in the news, very few people continue to be yuppy wine drinking execs. They're all losing their jobs.

But the ad is very nice. And I guess it gets the point across. It make the car seem smaller than it is tho... and that's probably not a good thing.
In the ad it comes off pretty little, like a Matrix.

I spent some time on the phone with a fewe dealers in my area regarding the satellite radio on my Murano. Nobody knows anything, the service departments tell me that I have the radio and all I need to do is sign up with a satellite service. I finally called Nisan USA and was told that the satellite radio won't be available for 3 to 6 months, but she didn't know why. She said she didn't think it would involve buying anything extra. However, she was just marginally less clueless than everyone else I spoke with. I called XM radio, they told me that, even if I am not signed up, I should still get something on satellite band and that if I didn't I am missing some hardware like the antenna(looks like I have that) or the tuner.

Just got my Murano over this past Saturday. AWD SL, Midnight Blue with Beige interior. Love the colors. It came with the sun roof, leather type of package and seat warmers as a bonus (not the heat package). Got it for $2400 under MSRP, roughly $1000 over invoice. The dealer didn't want to do, but after much persistence and a cash payment, he went for it. I believe that deals will get better over time, thought the supply has been somewhat limited here in West Michigan.

I have tested almost every single SUV in the market for the past couple of months. I drive 40 miles each way to work and travel often, so gas mileage was an important criterion in my selection. My first driving impressions were very good. Smooth ride (love the CVT), comfortable, quiet, very stable. Some of the minor drawbacks include: a) instrument panel should be raised slightly. Steering wheel covers all lower dials (I haven't tried adjusting the steering wheel yet). b) The interior rear view mirror does not adjust very easily. c) The blind spot on the right side when looking back (not a big deal, if you adjust the left rear view mirror).

So far I', getting 20.5 MPG in the highway at roughly 75 MPH. Reduced speed probably can increase that, but too slow for cruising to/from work.

So far I am very satisfied with the purchase. I used this board and discussion while making my final decision. Thanks for all your informative posts.
