The tan is classy. But I have a kid and at some point will get a dog. I need something that hides the dirt.
Now that I'm totally sure what colors and options I want, I can order the car from the broker and begin the long but happy wait for it to arrive.
As, for exterior colors I have narrowed it down to Sunlit Copper or the Polished Pewter.

What about cloth..? I think if I lived in a really hot, or a really cold climate I would consider cloth. And I've been very impressed with the Nissan cloth quality.
Ppower and Cookie...I have the cabernet interior and really like it. It looked orange to me in the brochure, so I held off until seeing it "in the flesh." There's just enough brown in it to keep it from being too "hot." I really like it because it's different without being jarring. I've seen the black interior and like its richness. My "fallback" position was the Cafe Latte (though I haven't seen it), but I wanted something a little more interesting after having driven a car with a gray-on-gray leather interior for five years.
By the way, my exterior is Polished Pewter...a phenomenal color. It dark gray-green in most light, but actually appears gold under some sunny conditions. The combination of Pewter exterior and Cabernet interior actually works well...it's even received kudos from some of my more conservative friends.
One of the reasons I was drawn to the Murano is that Nissan seems to have taken a "no compromises" attitude in designing it (this also seems to be their philosophy in the new "Z," Maxima and even Quest). Whether its the exterior design, interior design, features or colors, you either like it or you don't...no wishy washy in-between. With the interior colors, at least we're given a real choice, and not just a choice of shades of gray.
BTW, the best thing about this car is that...I can't wait to get out of work to drive it!
If I had access, I'd measure it for him, but that's a few weeks away.
Many thanks.

Yes, I did get a copy of Car and Driver and it is stated that a 73 inch x 46 inch panel or "sheet of plywood" will lay flat on the cargo floor.
Above the wheel wells, I think it would be quite possible to place a panel at least 50 inches x 73 inches. This would require support from underneath to raise the panel above the wheel wells. (An actual full sheet of plywood is 48 in. x 96in.)
The cargo area of the Murano is more than adequate for my needs. If I haul plywood I usually have it cut anyway.
I will be test driving soon and will report my experience. Hope to
purchase on Washington's birthday week. This forum is very helpful.
Kind Regards,

Sound reasonable?

also, would someone please give me any info on any aftermarket accesories for the murano. so far, the mod we have done is put a new K&N air filter in our murano. would love to get alteza tail lights if any one made some.
My salesperson was Sean Olson. Carmax is the best dealership in this area. I am from Union, South Carolina (Home of the infamous Susan Smith)
Not sure if the Copper with the Cabernet is over kill though.

That all depends on what your residual is! You might also try Lease Questions - Ask Here.
tidester, host
I could have done a 36month/12K sign and drive on a Pathfinder LE for $450 a month but after driving the Murano I decided I really liked the car ride feel and extras. Better gas mileage is nice too. The exterior has some MDX and RX300 characteristics. Those were two SUV's I was also considering but price tag was a bit too high.
If memory serves me there's one on the lower part of the console in front, another one in the back of the console, and in in the rear hatch?
At the time, I remember thinking, great, one for the radar detector, one for the cell phone and another "spare" in the rear cargo area.
Residuals .56 36/39 mo. and .46 48 mo.
Money Factor is .00231
$465 sounds like a great deal but you should find out what the cap cost is, or what the dealer is selling the car for. Here is the formula that you can figure it out for yourself:
A MSRP
B minus Cap Cost
C Residual (MSRP x Residual %)
D Depreciation (B minus C)
E Monthly Depreciation (D divided by lease term)
F Interest ((B+C) x Money Factor)
G Total Payment (E+F)
If you have any type of cap cost reduciton you need to subtract that off of 'B'.
Murano Example:
35000 MSRP
33000 Cap Cost
19600 Residual (.56)
13400 Depreciation
372.22 Monthly Depreciation
121.50 Interest (.00231)
493.73 Monthly Payment
Hope that helps.
I call them Saturday morning to make sure they had it and the guy told me they did. So I got there in the morning and they made me wait as the manager got "in touch" with the warehouse to prepare it. Well the manager sure made me wait a really long time and finally they told me that the car was "sold." When they said that, I knew I had been had. First of all this is a very big national chain with many different makes of cars stored in a centralized warehouses. Second of all this company only has one Nissan dealership in the bay area CA and a couple in So Cal. I think it is highly unlikely that my car would get sold while I was driving there in the morning because the only places the car could have been sold to are the other dealerships in So Cal and I'm sure they have their own warehouses down there as well. I don't have complete proof but I'm feeling that they never had the car that I wanted and they were just making me go to their dealership. I know something fishy was goin on because while the manager was getting in touch with the warehouse the salesman subtly asked me why I didn't like the Murano in the showroom (it was not the color I wanted and had more options).
So after the manager says its sold he says he will try to dealer locate a matching Murano from a different dealer. So he makes me wait again for a really long time and finally says nope, we couldn't find one. So I tell him that I'm leaving to go buy from the other dealer that we knew had the matching Murano and he asks which dealer. So I tell him which dealer and he immediately tells me that that dealer had sold the one I wanted. So I'm thinking.... what bad luck! That other dealer had the car Friday night when I had called to verify and has just sold it this morning? But I decided to call the other dealer anyways to see if he still had it.
Sure enough that other dealer still had it on the lot so I just left and bought my car there. When I bought my car I was told that they had gotten 4 dealer requests for my car and that they turned them all down. I'm thinking that the first place I went to requested this vehicle and got denied because my specific Murano was limited in the area, which then prompted the manager to tell me that the other dealer had sold it when they obviously had not.
If you are in the Bay Area and need either a Nissan, Saab, or Volkswagen then I highly recommend Diritos Brothers of Walnut Creek. It's about an hour drive for me but it was definitely worth it because they are a high volume dealership that doesn't play games. I called Diritos Bros up on Thursday and talked to Lawrence-Christopher and he was able to see that the Murano I wanted was part of their allocation and coming in soon. Then he gave me a quote over the phone that was $1,000 over invoice. I was able to work the price down a little bit but $1,000 over invoice is already a good price compared to other dealers that were quoting me MSRP.
The first dealership I went to where I had the horrible experience is the Autonation Hayward Nissan. I didn't appreciate the runarounds I was getting and they wasted a lot of my time when I could have gone straight to the much better Diritos Bros in Walnut Creek.
My new Murano: Midnight Blue SL AWD with Premium, Sunroof, and Charcoal Leather.
Pics to come soon.
That Sunlit Copper SE was downright sexy looking in the snow.
If the dealer gave you a great lease payment of $500 dollars and no money down, would that be acceptable to you if you found out that you paid $1000 over MSRP for the car? If so, then payment is all that matters. If you were able to get the car at $1000 less than MSRP you would have knocked around $60 per month off.
Just focusing on payment is how people get taken. To answer your question though, $465 for a somewhat loaded Murano, priced at 35K for 36 mo., is a great price if there is no other fees involved.
Someone said they bought the blue with charcoal leather. I saw that on the lot as well this weekend. Man... that is an amazing looking combo. Very cool, very classy.
The concern you voiced about how it would look in 4 to 5 years is kind of the sameone I feel. Is it too trendy.
I must say after seeing the Silver this week it looks very nice though.

Gust, from whom did your order these puppies? Do you have a parts number? We've been told they're not available yet and can't be ordered (by our local dealerships)
Maybe your parts number would help motivate them.
Thanks!

Why is F (B+C) which is much creater the the MSRP?
why is interest not calculated from just B?
A hardcopy is a stunning $315 and comprises 3 volumes, according to the web site. I passed on that one.
The CD is a whopping $210 for what turns out to be a cheap CDR in a cardboard sleeve. At least they bothered to print a label on it. It was about six days order to delivery via UPS. I called this morning about the defect and they said they'd send another out right away, so I presume they're generally in stock (maybe they make them on the fly?) Don't remember the part number for the CD, I'll look on the invoice when I get home.
The translation from Japanese to English is very poor to really bad, depending on the chapter.
Also note that the Murano has a local area network on board; six or seven of the modules communicate with each other over the LAN. It would have been sufficient to say any module can talk to any other. For some indecipherable reason Nissan felt it necessary to begin every chapter with a complete enumeration of every possible sender-to-receiver combination, and then include a diagram for each one. I suppose that's why it is three volumes instead of one.
The other day I was driving on the 405 FWY at 60 mph, and I was keeping more than enough distance from the car in front of me. Suddenly, the said car started braking hard, and when I applied the brakes on my Murano, it was taking too long to stop. When I realized that, I started to brake hard, and the rear of the Murano started to pull to the right.
I am taking the Murano in to the dealer to get the brakes checked, but I am curious if anyone else have had a weird experience when braking on the freeway.
Here's a link to where I might get it online:

I will log this all away.
Might still get them... but then, might not!

I'll be asking them to turn off the delayed headlight shutoff (if 45 secs is the minimum). Does anyone know if it's possible to prevent the horn from sounding when the keyless lock is used?
During an extended test drive of an AWD, I noticed the reported tire pressure was 48-50 PSI. This made for a rough ride (max PSI is 44). This led me to wonder, can we 'mere owners' change the setting for the auto tire pressure monitor?
Any other pre-buy issues come to mind?
I would think if you're paying in the neigborhood of 30 large, you should be able to get stuff like that changed gratis within the first month or so.
I'll be asking them to turn off the delayed headlight shutoff (if 45 secs is the minimum).
It has two settings: enabled and disabled. Enabled, it is 45 seconds if you simply leave them on and then exit, plus 5 minutes each time you activate the headlight switch. Both are designed to prevent the battery from running down. Any particular reason you want to have this disabled? This delayed shutoff is ONLY if you leave them turned on in the first place. If you turn them off before exiting the vehicle, they're off completely with no delay.
Does anyone know if it's possible to prevent the horn from sounding when the keyless lock is used?
Yes, the owner's manual tells you how to do it from the key fob. Two modes, noisy and quiet. Noisy is the default, honks the horn on locking, blinks on unlocking. Quiet blinks twice on arming the alarm, and does nothing on unlocking.

Not that I know of, but why would you want to? Also, the recommended pressure is in the usual place in the door jamb, thirty-something per wheel. If you want to run them as hard as 44psi you can, but the ride will be jarring. Just remember that all pressure readings should be made when the tires are COLD.
What did you drive before having a Murano?
