It's a real nice benefit given to hybrids, in some places even PZEV cars are eligible I believe.

As hybrids' share grows, they can't keep doing that. Maybe only for hybrids that are also PZEV? You have to limit the number some how.

would only apply to hybrids that get at least 45 miles per gallon

Real, real-world that leave only the Insight, even the Prius averages about 42-44 so it would not meet that standard.

I will actively seek out any brand of car that does not use it.

    inside joke for us nerds

i can see the pop up ads already.

might give a new meaning to carjacked.

you car wont start due to a denial of service attack.

if you wish to see your speed again, you will have to install msn!

so what service pack is your tribeca on?

    microsoft office for autos.

They should have gone "OSX Automotive," and have Adobe do the software, so you would need a 23" NAV screen (to handle all the menus) on the dashboard. ;)

Should help sagging Accord sales. They are off some 40k units annually compated to last year.

The catch is it might hurt the TSX and TL.

Sounds good, though, and the face-lift makes it look better too.

The Grand Caravan rip-off should have been called the "Grand Catholic," as it appears to be aimed at the right-to-life and/or anti-birth control folks.

It does look like the type of van a church youth group would get. They usually drive around in those old Dodge 15 passenger vans, but those are no longer sold.

That looks like a stretch Sedona. 235hp V6, now quite compeititive with class leaders. Hyundai will get a version too called the Entourage. It'll even have a NAV option.

I think it only has a 170 hp engine. With 11 passengers that should be a real hoot!

    Bob
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
US models get 235hp V6, and they don't seat that many!

Those do look like small seats, though.

    Bob,

What IS that on the nav screen by the person's hand???

Looks to me like a prop plane on a strafing run!

Got me Jim. It does look like a fighter jet. Maybe, like DVD/NAV-equipped Tribecas, it can show a DVD movie on the front screen when in Park?

Exactly! Specifically it looks like an F4U Corsair. Scene from the old TV series Baa Baa Black Sheep, maybe?

I'm sure that qualifies for some sort of tax/emissions exemption or something. Doesn't look very comfy.

Note the rear door handle that is tucked way in the black panel at the back end of the rear door window. This treatment has been used on Alfa and others—and was also used on one of the sketches of the all-new '08 Impreza.

I like it, I bet it replaced the Freestyle, which has been a flop.

Freestyle is space efficient, but it looks too much like a wagon, and it didn't have to. I bet these are a bargain on the used car market in a year or two.

Fairlane looks like an SUV, so I bet it would succeed where the Freestyle failed. But it might also cannibalize Escape/Explorer sales.

That Civic looks sharp, but small. Our coupe looks good, too.

That Civic looks sharp, but small.

It's sized like most small Euro hatches. I hope this is the approach the next Impreza takes, and from what I've garnered to date, that could well be the case.

    Bob
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
Perhaps, but I don't think they should call it an Impreza if they go that small. Call it a B2 or B3 something. And I'd use a different name for the sedan, B5 maybe.

    -juice
  • rshollandrsholland Member Posts: 19,788
It may look small, because of the lack of rear overhang, but I bet it has a longer wheelbase than our Impreza.

I'm sure it will have a "B#" prefix to the name.

    Bob
  • ateixeiraateixeira Member Posts: 72,587
They obviously shaped that to look just like the 3 door. A couple of compromises is the overall size is compact and the rear door itself is puny. That would make it hard to get in an out.

That's OK, maybe just build a wagon also, a little longer and with a squared-off back. Keep the nifty rear door handle.

Funny, but I really like the look of the Freestyle. I suspect that it is the current drivetrain that is probably a big turn off. I have not heard many positive comments about the V6/CVT pulling around that much heft.

Ford's working on a 3.5l variant of the Duratec, but it may come too late.

Freestyle might be a used car bargain in a couple of years. I dunno, though. Don't think I could take the dive. My dad sunk $6 grand into his Taurus. His Outback is running like a top. Do we really want to go backwards?

Maybe for real cheap with an extended warranty. Only while it's covered.

Honestly I think I'd get an MPV first if I wanted a Duratec powered people mover. Mazda uses a Jatco tranny.

Zetsche was just doing to Chrysler whatever Germany wanted him to do, so I'm not surprised. He's always played for the home team.

Jeff: I got mine done professionally.

Not sure if this helps or not, but I checked out a guy installing tint on a Land Cruiser, and oddly enough, he first put it on the *outside* of the window to get the sizing right. Then he cut it, and moved it to the inside, and just set it in place.

Get a new exacto-knife with plenty of blades. I think you can use a squeegee and water with baby shampoo, but ask someone who knows better before you start.

    Schrempp out, Zetsche in

I saw that at WSJ.com. I concur - no suprise that Zetsche is in. Whether folks like it or not, Chrysler is owned by Daimler and Germany calls the shots. But they've allowed Zetsche the room to introduce uniquely American Chryslers and Dodges with input from Germany and it's engineering.

    Tinting

I had my Passat done a couple of weeks ago. The installer put it on the outside as well to get the cuts just right and then installed it.

Because Honda has the industry's worst warranty, IMHO. 3/36 only with no roadside assistance.

    Not quite 100% but close.

The ankle healed pretty quickly, but I had also sprained my foot. That took longer to heal.

Plus the entire bottom half of my foot was purple from bruising. Even more odd, my 3 middle toes were purple! Yikes.

I'm walking and swimming without a brace, but not running yet. Don't want to push my luck.

    Thanks for asking.

OK, the Tribeca sold us on the idea of NAV, but the wife kinda wants one that is built-in.

What do you folks think of this?

    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-7eOoEqbAPAv/cgi-bin/ProdView.asp?g=182350&I=130AVICD1

$1600 ain't cheap but factory NAV is $2000. It's double-DIN so it fits most Subies except the 05+ Legacy and Tribeca. Would this fit a new Forester?
