What do you think I should be ready to pay for a 2011 MDX with Advance and Entertainment packages that I found at a dealer. It is not my first choice for color but acceptable and apparently not too many people are interested in for over a year...
I can get a 2012 at invoice with just the Advance or with the Tech and Ent packages at invoice, so thinking this should be at least 5 thousand below since
    there are 12's out there.
    Thanks!

Maybe the following may help someone.

I purchased my MDX at the local acura dealer for 11 % discount. Previously I purchased an RL 08 at the SAME dealership in 5 years ago, after I haggled with them and they finally wanted to sell a car and I got the vehicle for 19 % off sticker. (If you don't mind the stress and the b.s. and just hold your ground, they will discount.)

About 20 years ago, an old now deceased very good friend was the sales manager of a bmw dealership and he told me that they work with 18-22 % off sticker. So I apply that percentages at the local Acura dealer when I purchased our MDX. And its easier now as theyknow I intend to buy and also know that 11% / 15 % off is what i will pay.

Our son back in Illinois has made this discounting a family affair. His Acura TL was about 15 % off sticker. And no, I am not b.s. anyone, however, after buying over 40 years many cars, I have learned how to play the game and now it is much less anxiety and its nice to make friends with the dealership. And if you communicate to the salesperson/dealership the % you will pay they will mumble and gripe but they will work to "make a deal".

Good luck to all and oh, I live in "Disneyland er California. I am up in North Disneyland in the SF Bay Area.

Good luck to all and stay safe.

I have been trying to receive some quotes and some dealerships won't give you one online as they want you to come in first and discuss so that you don't shop their price around. But the first and only quote I got so far for the 2012 MDX w/ Tech was $43,078 (I believe this is including destination) + TTL of course

This seems to actually be pretty good after reading some posts. Any toughts on how this rates? Of course I will shop around but wantedto get some advice.

    Thanks!

Just purchase a new 2012 MDX w/Tech for $43000 plus TTL and .9% financing for 60 months. The dealer also throw in all season mats for free.

I thought it was a pretty good deal considering published dealer cost is around $42500. The dealer wasn't pushy or tried to make up the low price with extended warranty or financing like I had heard about certain dealers in NYC. The next best offer was near invoice at $44000 from 3 dealers in Long Island. I was told they wouldn't go below the invoice and tap into the hold backs.

The salesman also told me new redesigned MDX won't come out until early next year. BTW, I notice truecar.com isn't what it used to nowadays. Their prices are generally a couple thousands higher.
  • nycedmunds232nycedmunds232 Member Posts: 3
Yes, the dealers are smart about not giving prices out in writing to prevent you from using it to negotiate with other dealers. I've gotten a couple quotes via email at $42995 but they wouldn't confirm if it includes destination or the BS dealer prep fees. Instead I was told they gave out best prices in the showroom. When I showed up in person, the salesman pretended to forget about the internet quotes and begin negotiate from MSRP.

A good way to tell is if a dealer runs good business is to check the number of complains filed on http://www.bbb.org/.

From my experience, it'd be better to negotiate on the phone rather than email or show up at the dealership without confirming the prices. Stand firm with the price you want to pay. 90% of the time when you decline an offer, you will get a call from the dealer with an better price the next day.

Thanks for this post as well as your previous one. I am also in NYC and got the internet quote from a random NJ dealer. What dealerships have you dealt with or have had the best experience with in the area?

I have done tons of research so I am going in with a clear head, and am curious about your experiences or what places you might have dealt with.

    Thanks!

Got an quote for a '12 MDX base for $40,096 - $200 below invoice.
    Seems like a good deal.

I noticed the dealer still has 5 base '11's on the lot. How much can I expect to get off from these? Is $2500 below invoice reasonable or am I expecting too much?

Also, what is flex cash and how do I know if it is potentially available on my purchase?
Do I just need to ask? How much flex cash is available?
Sorry for all of the questions. I can't find anything about flex cash on the web or at acura.com.

    Thank you.

I happen to stop by at the dealership and got a deal for 12 MDX base for 40K OTD with %0 financing for 60 months. Is this any good deal? I will do some research about the price and probably pick up the car tomorrow.

40000 OTD? Seriously? I'd love to get a deal like that...what dealership was this?

    2012 MDX w/ Tech
    Palladium Metal Metallic/Ebony
    Purchase price 43,500 + TTL

Was only able to get wheel locks thrown in. But this was my max price and 43K wouldn't get it done, so I am fine wth this. Worked out the deal in like 20 min, no hassle. Only went back and forth twice each on price.

I hope I made a decent deal here.

We had a hard time pricing this new-to-us car. Edmunds said it was worth $10k-$13k. Kelley Blue Book and Black Book said it was worth $15k-$16k. We almost walked away bc the previous owner was steadfast at $15750. The tranny was replaced already (due to the typical MDX tranny issues), 70,000 miles and there was 6 months left on an extended warranty. Edmunds didn't have any options like running boards to add to the options. We couldn't find any other '05 or '06 with low miles so we bit the bullet and bought it. The dealers were listing similar cars for $19,000. Knowing that dealers will come down $500-$1500, we felt like what we paid was in the ball park. If so, why was edmunds so far off?

A reporter is looking to speak with anyone who bought a new car in the last two months. She’s especially interested in the economic and market factors (fuel prices, access to credit, pricing, etc.) that went into your decision. Please send a brief description of your experience and your preferred contact information to pr@edmunds.com by Wednesday, March 7th, 2012.

I just negotiated a 2012 MDX Tech with a price of $41,900 + $1500 cash back for using Acura financing, 1.9% for 60 months. Almost seems to good to be true based on the prices listed here. We'll have to see what happens tomorrow when we go to pick it up. Usually when something seems to good to be true, it is - what should we be looking out for? If they don't honor it we'll walk.

We just bought a Certified Used 2009 Acura MDX with Tech package this week. We were at first going to go with a new CX-9 because it's a pretty nice SUV too and it's cheaper than the MDX, but we went with the MDX because the resale value is better and it's nicer and the ride is better. The previous owner had leased the car and decided to trade it in and buy a 2012 model. So it's got low miles and the car is nice, it looks just like brand new. It was advertised at $30,997, I was going to try to get it down to 30K straight up, but when we talked price, the dealer said they were selling it for $29,997. I was confused but went with it, so I didn't have to haggle at all. All the other places around Chicago was selling this same package for $33K+, so I think we got a pretty decent deal.

    Hi,

Sound like nice deal. Can you please let me know the dealer name and the city. I am looking for MDX with Advance package.

    Thanks

Wow if you got an 2012 MDX Tech for 40400, you've got a ripping deal! I just closed a deal on 2012 MDX Tech with sliver roof rails and crossrails, Advance chrome running boards, side molding, wheel locks, All Weather Pkg I (also dealer had etched VIN on glass, stated MSRP was $299 - but I didn't even account for it since I never wanted it) for 46796.41 with 0.9% financing for 36 months.

Just wanted to give back some real world data from my purchase. This board was really helpful in finding my "go" price.

Any thoughts on a 2011 with Advance and Entertainment packages, what a good price on that would be. There are 2 of them at different dealerships a few hours from me and wondering what "loss" I incur by buying an 11 instead of a 12. One sales guy gave me a price of 49750 pus tax, tag, and title for an 11. I think since the few MDXs with Adv and Ent seem to sit on the lots for long time I should pay that for a 12 and the 11 should be less. Any thoughts appreciated.

    Dear ginamber

I live in Calif. I have a 08 rl, and an 11 mdx with advance and all the bells and whistles. I paid $ 48000 for the mdx advanced. That included all of the goodies inside including the multispeakered radio.

I think you may want to look around and also go online to the local dealer's web site and others close by and compare prices. I just checked the local dealer and an mdx with advanced is about $ 54000. i asked for and got a 15 % discount.

All I had to do was to tell them I would not purchase from them unless they discounted, which they did.

After I had purchased my 08rl, I then purchased the mdx for my wife last year, it was discounted for me by the manager at 11 %. So without any haggling and angst, we drove our new mdx home without any issues or secret add ons. I gave them their 9 % and I got my 11 % savings.

An old buddie of mine sold expensive german sports cars and he said they dealt with 20 to 22 % off list price. Good luck to you and I wish you well.

I just purchased a new 2012 Acura MDX Tech package in PA for $40300 and also got $1500 cash down (net $38800) with 0.9% for 36 months. Maybe you should have negotiated a little better :).

Which dealership in PA? Can you mail me the name of the person you dealt with? I live in PA and looking to buy MDX with Tech. Thanks
  • budcat1budcat1 Member Posts: 5
Great deal. How did the $1500 cash down work? The Dealer gave you a $1500 cash down credit ? Thus, reducing the purchase price by that amount?

I was negotiating for a 2010 base w 20 k miles. Got to 34,500. You have much better deal.

    thanks.
  • flydeepflydeep Member Posts: 1
I have been contemplating on the 2009 MDX with Tech package. I see the prices around $30K and 30K miles. How many miles did yours have? Did you look into whether the changes in the 2010 model are significantly different? I have read about the GPS screen and directions being messy, do you suggestions on the 2009 model? The premium for the 2010 model seems quite high, about $6K additional.

I was given some sound advice from jensad, so first check out his post to my post... anyway, I think if you are getting Tech and not Advance then no that is not a great price. There seem to be a limited amount of the Tech and Adv's but then they stay on the lot so that is costing them to keep them, at least in my state of Florida. Go for 15 percent below or right at invoice and be prepared to wait until they realize you are firm on that. Better to rent a car for a week or month than to pay an extra few thousand. My plan is to get an Advance, about 5 or 6 more retail, for 48 otd. Then again, if you feel good about the dealership you use, or want the MDX soon, you do the best you can and go with that. In FL is just know that they have been trying to sell me the vehicle you are getting ready to buy since there are less Advances (and they want to make a deal always today instead of tomorrow0 and I have been given over the phone quotes that are better than the amount you listed. FL sales tax is 6.5 so unless your tax rate is much higher, you can do better...

  • hlawhlaw Member Posts: 4
Yes, it included all fees except tax and DMV fees. To previous poster, the dealer added the $1500 to my downpayment in the paper work, same as knocking 1500 of the price. They through in free oil changes and tire rotation at the dealership for as long as we own the vehicle.
  • hlawhlaw Member Posts: 4

I emailed 5-6 dealers in MA and NH and not a single one would match the $40,400-$1500 incentive or even come close to it. The best offer I got was $41,400 final and this is only if I finance through that dealer. If you add couple of [non-permissible content removed] dealer fees that this dealership is known for, the deal is not nearly as hot...

What I found funny is that 2 of these dealers have 65-70 MDX sitting on their lots and the most they would've discount were $2000 down.

No dice for Boston I guess, moving on.
  • hdp203hdp203 Member Posts: 9
I contacted a lot of dealers in NY/NJ/PA/VA and not even one dealer can come close to the posted price ($40,400 [hlaw], or $38800 [grneyes4]). I even contacted Radley Acura.
  • sleepybubbasleepybubba Member Posts: 61
So it's safe to assume that these deals are non-repeatable. As for me - I was just probing waters with Acura and Infiniti. I guess it's time to switch Audi and BMW.

Bought new 2012 acura MDX base with few accessories at a really good price - thank you to everybody who posted their experience on this forum. This information was very helpfull.

I was buying replacement for a totalled mini-van, and needed new car fast. Started e-mailing dealers in the area that had a car I wanted in the stock on Friday noon-time. Had few back-and-forth with three dealers over e-mail, and then combined the best car pricing/deealer fees as well as pricing for accessories obtained from the web based retailers (plus my estimation on reasonable installation charge, where applicable) into a counter offer. E-mailed my counter-offer to all three dealers on Saturday morning, signed the contract on Saturday afternoon, picked the the car on Wednesday.

    Particulars of the deal:
Acura MDX base: $38,996 (Includes $300 back from Acura flex cash)
    Documentation: $ 129
    Transfer Tag $ 48
    Towing Pkg Installed $ 607
Roof Rack Pkg Installed $ 515
    Tri-Fold Cargo Tray $ 106
    All Season Mats $ 128
    Wheel Locks No charge

Total Out the Door $40,529 (Excluding PA Tax, 60 Mo 1.9% APR from Acura)

    $34,200
    $100 doc fee
    TTL

Acura certified, so the warranty goes to 62,000 miles instead of the original 50,000. I was very pleased. Massachusetts dealership.

I am in the market for a 2007-2009 used MDX. I am open to any model/package and most colors, but looking for a good deal on price. I have an offer to purchase a base 2007 with 118k miles for $16,500. The vehicle is in excellent condition and does not have any extras such as roof rails or running boards. It is an original owner with no accidents. This is pretty high mileage but seems like a good price. Opinions?

    Thank you

I am about 18 months into my 3 year lease on a 2010 MDX tech. Current payment is $622m and I had put about $2k down. At the time it was considered a good deal based on what others were paying on this forum.

I got a call from the original dealer offering a trade up to a 2012. No out of pocket. Same terms as my prior lease. The new offer is:

    2012 Acura MDX Tech
    M.S.R.P. $47,490+Fees and Accessories
Lease Special Pricing $44,300+Fees and Accessories

36 Month 10,000 miles per year lease
    Residual Value $26,119.50
    Acura Promotional Money Factor .00090

Zero out of pocket expense, just taking your MDX in trade.

    36 Months @ $581.48 Tax
    Monthly Tax $46.52
    36 Months @ $628.00 Including Tax
(Technically 35 monthly payments, as your first monthly payment would normally be made at lease signing, but is waived under this program)

Any advice on how to determine if this is a good deal? Seems fair enough. Thanks,

Just finished a deal for a 2012 MDX Advance with 12,000 miles in St Louis for $721/mo (with taxes etc. rolled in) on a 36 month lease...good deal? I think the actual sale price was $49813 in addition to the $1500 dealer incentive.
  • jvettejvette Member Posts: 70
I think you have some extra fees being added in or there is something being added to the lease price. If you have a 2010 you should have some equity in it and there should be a couple of thousand dollars over what the residual is on the MDX.

I just did the same thing and my payment is about $574 including sales tax. My lease is a 12,000 per year. You need to ask to see all the numbers before you sign anything.

Robbed, NO. An extremely aggressive and money losing deal, with car and accessories, yes. The dealer lost money and you got an amazing deal, if that is the case. Congrats on the MDX.
