It will be interesting to see how Honda reacts when the new 2004 Sienna becomes available. Meanwhile, DC is not sitting idly by as Dodge has announced a new GC CV model with 3.8L V6 215 HP and 245 Ft Lbs of torque with captain chairs in 2nd row for only $22,330 (read about it here in Edmunds New Vehicles Pricing Section). Ford might make a feeble attempt to hang on to the rapidly decreasing popularity of the Windstar. GM seems to be asleep at the wheel. Mazda, Nissan, Kia, VW sell in numbers too low to have any significant impact.

This minivan does not look like a competitive option. The styling is dated and knowing Ford products of late, quality will probably be lacking. Am I mistaken or is the entertainment system a VCR, the screen looks like a good size though.

I'm trying to compare the '03 to '04 for the purposes of determining an approximate sticker cost of a new '04 LE. In the mean time, I've listed some apparently standard features in the new model that were optional before. This list is substantial, IMO.

'04 CE model standard equipment that was optional or unavailable in '03:

    5 sp transmission, 240 hp
    captain's chairs in 2nd row
index seating (not sure what this is, but might be the repositioning of the 2nd row seats)
    pwr windows, locks and mirrors
color keyed bumpers and door handles
    16" wheels
    keyless entry
    6 speakers vs. 4
3500 lbs towing vs. 2000 lbs.

But I thought the '04 Sienna was only going to have 230hp (the current gen Ody has 240).

"Toyota also announced today that, in spite of the new model offerings and significant enhancements to the content of carry-over models, pricing of the 2004 lineup would be aggressive. The Sienna CE in 7-passenger configuration acquires over $1,500 in new features compared to the 2003 model, but the Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) decreases by $665, to $30,000. Sienna LE, with added equipment valued at nearly $2,600 goes up in price by just $1,365 to $34,750. The all-new Sienna 4WD LE starts at $39,160, and a fully loaded Sienna 4WD XLE Ltd, with DVD entertainment system, backup sensors, laser cruise control, HID headlamps, and more, carries an MSRP of $51,845."

I think gtahope wants us to wait til after 5:00 (east coast time?) to check it out. It seems that gtahope is the web designer working on it.

    Can't wait!

Posted by gtahobe--"The build your own website is up.
Includes option packages and msrp prices."

It appears to me to be the pricing for a 2002 Sienna.
  • gtahobegtahobe Member Posts: 42
You're right. Sorry for posting misinformation. I was just too excited about today's price announcements :)

That'd explain why the prices didn't match and why the transmission was only a 4 speed! Sorry that I didn't have time to print a retraction from work once I discovered that.
    My apologies to all.

    No, not the web designer

Wow, crazy day here. Funny how so many of us are caught up in the release of this new mini-van. With all the interest here one might think this discussion revolves around the release of the new corvette.

Anyone have an update as to when Toyota will start producing Siennas with NAV? The latest news what that the NAV option will be offered as a "late introduction".
  • richlavoierichlavoie Member Posts: 56
Tom, I was getting all excited by the US pricing and you just brought me on earth with the Canadian ones... I want an LE. Based on US pricing, each model seems to be the price of the lower version of 2003. Why would it be different here? Sometimes the packages in Canada are much more generous then in the US. Could that be the case?
  • seeingsiennaseeingsienna Member Posts: 4
To all on this message board, thank you. You are dedicated people. The posts had slowed down last week but today was wild. I am trying to keep up with all the data. Ken you are a saint among demons. Sequoiasaurus you are a dynamo.

Have checked out the cheesy Monterey Jack. [Sorry, couldn't help that one!] Being a windstar owner, it will probably be as unrefined and unreliable. Design looks too similar and dated still. And whats with the solid 3rd seat as Jack pointed out.

Now that we have MSRPs, does anyone have dealer invoices?
  • coolguyky7coolguyky7 Member Posts: 932
The Monterey looks WAY too much like the current Windstar! That's going to hurt...
  • gwvgatorgwvgator Member Posts: 2
Thanks Jack, everybody....but is there anything out yet on pricing the packages..specifically the BW package on the LE?
The fax mentions Sienna will go on sale in March...some have got to be built...will anybody have them before that or is there a set procedure with toyota to set a uniform launch date? Maybe a silly question but it didnt cost me anything to ask. A local dealer told me he had a Feb 10 build date on the one he is allocated and...of course I'm thinking I should get that one in a week...provided I'm willing to pay. -Scott
  • shabbycatshabbycat Member Posts: 65
I can't keep track :) But I really appreicate all of the information. And thanks to Jack too. Somewhere else to hang out while I'm waiting/making decisions.
  • zorax2zorax2 Member Posts: 12
Wow - I think the MSRP is a bit higher than I figured for these trim lines. I wonder what options will add to a typically equipped XLE or Limited?

I was sure we'd be getting a Toyota - but if we have to pay MSRP + Options - well this may be a bit much for me. I guess we'll have to wait to see a list of prices for the options and what the dealer pricing is. Hopefully, there will be room to negotiate. At this point, I'm feeling better about not pre-ordering.

BTW - Thank you Jack for posting the prices.
  • leknlekn Member Posts: 78
Richlavoie, are you saying that you are surprised by the Canadian pricing? To me, they seem to be inline with US pricing and both CE and LE are priced below 2003 model:

    CE (7)----- C$30,000 -- (2003: C$30,655)
    LE (7)----- C$34,750 -- (2003: C$33,385)
    LE AWD----- C$39,160
    XLE Ltd AWD C$51,845

These are 7 to 8% cheaper than US prices.
Still no mention of navigation system, looks like we won't get it in Canada. The Ltd pricing already includes DVD entertainment centre; I wonder if this means you have to get DVD with the Ltd option.
  • backybacky Member Posts: 18,949
Just add cruise (dealer installed if the factory option is bundled with a ridiculous package), privacy glass (aftermarket if it's bundled with an options package), and it's about all I'd need on a van. It is a bit ridiculous I think that Toyota makes you move up to the LE to get a one-touch-down driver's window, when the CE has power windows.
  • quantusquantus Member Posts: 6
So, should we expect to see more Sienna's hitting the market before Mid-March now? Or is Carson just jumping the gun?
  • jenr1jenr1 Member Posts: 17
I emailed quite a few dealers in my area a couple days ago. This is what one of them said:

"We have several 2004 Siennas coming in. They should be here by the end of Feb. or the first week in March.

I have several LE front wheel drives with the AM package an XLE front wheel drive with the FR package and a LE all wheel drive with the BI package due in.

I can take a deposit to hold one for you."

I wasn't too sure if they were just trying to get me in there or if they are really getting several that early. We'll have to see.
  • dyh555dyh555 Member Posts: 30
XLE limited should easily have a sticker of 40K+ with options. I dont think lot of people will be interested IMO.

Even XLE should see some discounting by may.

I dont expect any dicsount on CE and LE for a while though!

    any thaughts?
  • samnoesamnoe Member Posts: 731
Anybody knows already the fuel tank capacity? Since Ford Windstar and GM minivans offers 25/26 gallon fuel tank, I'm interested if the new Sienna will also have a bigger fuel tank than the '03 version.
  • wardewarde Member Posts: 26
or are they still unknown? All we need are the codes and price. We can go to Jack's website and compare codes to the options.
  • winedogswinedogs Member Posts: 102
Jack B. GREAT job on the website! My local toyota dealership even was impressed. Thank you for all the information. Now I just need summer to arrive to make my purhcase.
  • beckyokbeckyok Member Posts: 15
Now that I know I want an LE with no option pkg. should I email area dealers and ask them to contact me when they get one? I'm in St. Louis and don't expect interest here to be very high. I don't have a trade and I will be paying cash, the only thing to negotiate is price. Will I get a better deal if I wait until they have the vans on the lot, or if I let them know now it will be an easy transaction? Any suggestions from you experienced car buyers out there?

    Thanks for your input, Becky
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
how do you figure a Limited will top $40K? do you mean a Limited AWD model? How do you know the prices of options that are available for the Ltd?
From what I can see, the FWD XLE looks like a solid value, compared to the XLE from 03.
I think this van will sell well.

Is anyone going to the Chicago Auto Show? Will you be taking digital pictures? I would like to know your impressions, also, of the seat comfort, particularly the front passenger seat. Thanks in advance.
  • alpha01alpha01 Member Posts: 4,747
(which I just read on Toyota's website) about the new Sienna is that you need to purchase the Ltd. model to get 4 wheel disc brakes. absurd!
    ~alpha
  • mgflmgfl Member Posts: 11
According to Ken, LE package BW includes rear disc brakes... hth
  • dtd98dtd98 Member Posts: 21
I agree with you absolutely. I think Toyota try to cut cost by offerring only rear drum brakes for the lower end models which is not cool.I guess a lot of people wouln't care.Another thing is they still use the rear beam suspension.
  • jwankeljwankel Member Posts: 13
I'll be heading out next Monday (hopefully smaller crowds than the weekend). I'll have my digital camera with me and I'll see what interesting pictures that I can get.

I too am interested in front seat comfort and seat cushion length. I'll post my thoughts Monday evening.
  • i_like_carsi_like_cars Member Posts: 2
Come on Jack, what's taking you so long to post package pricing? I figured you'd have it by now. . .

Also, will you please ask the folks at the auto show if they have info on the relase date for NAV Siennas?
  • shabbycatshabbycat Member Posts: 65

what do you mean by $0? Do you not have the information or is there no charge.

And a huge thank you for taking the time to do this! When should I send my dh out to your region to buy one? LOL....

Me, still a bit confused by options.
  • wardewarde Member Posts: 26
I was reading past posts about being a little more than expected. I am in the market for the LE so maybe on the lower end it is not so bad. I actually was shocked that it was lower than I thought. We are in the market for a 8 pass. and until stumbling on the Sienna, thought that the Venture was the only one with that seating. I went through and as best as I could compared the two.

    Sienna Invoice 8 pass $22,940.00
    Sienna MSRP 8 pass $24,410.00
    Venture Invoice 8 pass $25,498.88
    Venture MSRP 8 pass $28,170.00

and those figures don't even include the things like better engine, and little extras that Toyota has that Chevy does not even offer. I do realize that Chevy has rebates, but with the rebates they should be pretty close in price. Then look at resale, why would anyone choose the ventures now?

These are the pricing. So if I list $0 as the price, then they are a $0 cost option on some models.

  • shabbycatshabbycat Member Posts: 65
This might be better for the "ask a dealer" forum, but thought I'd try it here first....

So, the Siennas are supposed to be "on the lot" on March 14th nationwide. That is a lot of deliveries for the 14th. Will they likely be delivered *before* that date and the dealers don't actually put one out til the 14th? Or will the very first ones start arriving at *some* dealer's on the 14th, with others to follow at other dealers?
  • toyotakentoyotaken Member Posts: 897
From experience, Toyota is pretty efficient in their distribution. That being said, it isn't an exact science. So more than likely, some dealers may get one a day or so early while others may be a day late. But most should get them on the 14th.

You're a pretty nice guy Ken. Thanks for spending your evening with us. I wish I could buy my Sienna from you.

One question: I didn't see any mention of a NAV option on the limited packages. Any idea why?

Also, on the XLE GT package which offers NAV, It looks like you don't get heated seats. Are things like heated seats available outside a package? As a matter of fact, do I need to purchase the entire GT package for $7000 just to get NAV on an XLE model?

    Thanks-a-million!
  • toyotakentoyotaken Member Posts: 897
I don't really know. This is the first release of pricing and specific options for the new Sienna, so I haven't had the opportunity to ask any of our Toyota Reps any questions about them yet. But I'll ask when I get a chance and post the updates.

looks to be the LE FWD (in either 7 or 8 passenger configuration) with Package 7 (trip computer, Homelink, power RH sliding door, rear seat audio, driver/front passenger side and three row curtain airbags, VSC and traction control, rear disc brakes, rear windshield wiper de-icer, DRLs, and alloy wheels)

7 passenger $27,155 (which i believe doesnt include dest.)

Not bad for a sharp, powerful, versatile minivan with every safety feature in the book.

All of the posted info here and on sierraclub.org shows a "late availablility" navigation system available for the standard XLE model but not the Limited. Is that right? I would hope I could order nav if I buy the top of the line model.
  • ronghaironghai Member Posts: 1
The RH power sliding door on LE AM package costs $810. I would like to pay $1600 for both LH and RH as an option on CE or LE. That should be all I need. Will Toyota offer such package or why not? This package will sure drive Ody EX to ground.
