2015 Kia Sedona Prices Paid and Buying Experience

I test drove a 2015 Kia Sedona SX 8 seat model yesterday. The family and I checked out the car in the parking lot, but my wife and I opted to not pack the mess makers into the car for the test drive.

In the lot, we checked out the seats. I was able to sit all the way to the back (I'm 5' 7") and could hold out back there for a few hours if need be. The third row feature latch only on the 40 seat of the 60/40 split, but we did find anchors in the back. The middle of the second row can be removed like in the Odyssey.

I did not get much time to play with the infotainment system or try out the siri-eyes free. The vehicle feature heated and cooling seats. Heating was also there for the second row seats (not sure about the cooling). The driver seat had memory for two which is something I want since my wife is six inches shorter than me.

The electric steering felt too loose for my hands, but that's not a bad thing. The vehicle accelerated nicely onto the highway - I had to speed up to stay ahead of a truck. It handled well enough for well mannered driving in the rain.

We were hoping to see an EX model since that's in the price range we're looking for. The SX strikes me as Odyssey Touring competitor. The dealership quoted us a price of $34.9k which was higher than we wanted to pay. Looking at the MSRP, I feel like there is another $1.5k to bargain the price down.

Nice review - I'm not going to inquire if your mess-makers are dogs or kids.

Minivan prices have gone up it seems. And yeah, telling the dealer that you are cross-shopping an Odyssey won't hurt your bargaining position.

Test drive of the SX on 10/13 on Route 17 in Mahwah, NJ. This was brand new vehicle that hadn't gone through dealer prep yet, so it still had plastic wrap over all the seats and covers over the alum rims. I am 5'9" and currently driving a 2000 Odyssey on its fourth tranny. The warranty on this replacement tranny comes up next August. Still trying to decide if I want another minivan. It is hard to give up the capacity once you've had it. One thing I don't like is the ever widening of the minivans which are more like maxivans these days.

I found the electric steering to be numb, so you are steering visually. Not much feedback from the road. I would say it is similar to a Toyota Sienna in driving dynamics. However, the Sedona is quieter.

The interior of the Sedona is very nice. Just too many buttons on the dash, but that comes with the new technology and all the features. I prefer too many buttons over scrolling through a menu to make a basic setting. Sitting in the 3rd row, my hair just brushed the ceiling. So, an adult can sit in the back, but you are very close to the rear window. Nothing beats the 3rd row of an Odyssey, so it was somewhat expected.

I think is it a good value overall based on Truecar pricing. It's got everything that I need. I just need to determine what I really want (2 rows vs 3). I happened to test drive a Mazda CX-5 GT yesterday, and I much prefer the driving dynamics of that car. But, it is a different vehicle, so it is not an apple-to-apple comparison. I'll probably want to see the 2016 Sorento and 2016 Honda Pilot before deciding on anything. The new Highlander has a disappointing 3rd row, want to see what the upcoming Sorento provides. I'm expecting the same as the Highlander with regards to the space in the back.

That confirms the figures they were giving us last night on the EX. I just didn't realize the money rate was so different between the models. Makes the SX overall a better deal, on a lease anyway.

Just to share, we leased our Sedona SX yesterday. Negotiated (pretty easily) to dealer invoice less $2,000 incentives (Competitive Bonus Cash and Lease Bonus Cash), with the rates stated above by Michael and kyfdx.

MSRP $37,445 (with 8 passenger package and cargo net), dealer invoice $35,207. Cap Cost of $33,802 with acq fee. 54% residual, .00038 MF.

Nothing down other than first payment - $398/month (plus tax).

I just wanted to chime in about purchasing my Sedona SX with 8-passenger option and a towing hitch installed for $32,500 + TTL with total OTD $34,340. The sticker was $39,193 not including the towing hitch package (it was ordered separately). Any opinions on the price, how did I do? My family loves the car, I have some questions though I wasn't able to find answers from the owners manual. Does anyone know, what is the little yellow symbol next to the temperature displayed in the dashboard? It looks like a road with a snowflake on it. The temps here are 34 to 38, and the roads are fine, no ice, so not sure why the warning. The manual has no mention of this icon, or at least I couldn't find one. Another possible issue is the center armrest suddenly started squeaking when the front passenger rests their elbow on it. I removed everything from the inside and it seems that the squeaky sounds come from the top cover only, not the entire console. Any ideas on how to deal with this (possible fix or TSB). I just bought the car yesterday and it didn't do it up until tonight... Thanks for your thoughts.

I think (but don't hold me to it), that the snowflake symbol is just a warning of cold weather. My daughter's MINI does something similar when the temps get into the 30's.

Thank you, you are absolutely right, it warmed up here today to 40-43 and the symbol was gone. I guess, I freaked out a bit Now, lets just figure out the front armrest squeak and I'll be dandy...

I'm showing .00076 and 56% for the EX, and .00032 and 54% for the SX for 36/12. $1000 lease cash.

The numbers you are quoting are the 42 month numbers with the maximum mark up of the MF.
