It is quite weird that the sales man refused to talk about the OTD before I finished the finance application. I already told him that I have a pre-approved letter and kind of flexible at the rate (If Honda provides equal rate, I can do it at Honda). He just kept mentioning that the manager won't talk about the final OTD until I finished financing application, insurance quote and etc. I will probably try it again one week later. Talking directly to the manager is a better choice.
And stupid me lost my id there. Do you know whether the dealer can sell the car with a temporary paper version ID? Official one will be mailed to my place in 7-10 days I think.
I got a quote from dealer for $30,400(Includes delivery fee) in Albany NY. @Stever- is this a good deal?
Thanks
Sundeep
Please send me the breakdown for your EX
Did you get the dealer added options in it too..?
Thanks
Now you have my radar up - did "you" lose your ID at the dealer or did the dealer "misplace" it trying to keep you there to wear you down for hours?
In any event, the temp. license should work ok (or whatever the ID was you lost).
Please tell me ( find out ) what's in the protection package for $1595.. that sounds extremely high.
Call dealer back and ask ???? What is pre delivery sev. $699. ....( This is a BS charge )
Where is this dealers doc fee charge did he not disclose it to you yet . Ask this dealer what there doc fee charge is? And where in this quote did they hide it.
above questions will help determine if this is a bad deal or average at this point.
The 2 fee's that hurt this deal if its a FWD model are :
1- pro pck
2- pre-delivery
3- Possible did not disclose doc fee charge yet ?

My apologies I see you text me certain info a few days ago . Your in Florida and its a 2wd model . Looking at this new info I want to know where dealers doc fee charge is? That might be anywhere between 699 to 899 .
Check into my prior post and questions then report back . We will take a look at this deal again and really break it down for you.
23 Telluride SX-P X-Line, 23 Camry XSE
Thanks
I did get some more info
the pre delivery service fee is = dealers doc fee $699.
also the protection package for $1595 is the dealer added options:
1. Wheel locks
2. Nitrogen fill tires
3. Mud flaps
4. Custom fit trunk tray
5. Window tints
thanks again.
That's the whole story. No matter for what reason, I will never go there again.
Invoice w/ dest charge ...............................................$24,867
SALE PRICE............................................................. -$22,592
$2275 BELOW DEALERS INVOICE . Then MINUS DOC FEE OF $699 = @1576 BELOW INVOICE
Your pro pack of $1595 is a total rip off and where you could negotiate this deal down. dealers Invoice is less than 400 dollars on those items. Paying dealers full $1595 lowers your 1576 below sales number. Every dollar you pay above $400 on pro pack subtract that from your below invoice number.
The doc fee charge $699 and pro pack $1595 are the area's to negotiate price down further.
Genuine Honda Online pricing for Mud flaps are $65 trunk tray $90, wheel locks $38, Nitrogen $0, Window tint $100. Dealers invoice price on above items are lower than online pricing.
Good luck

The AAA Study puts the average annual cost of depreciation on a new vehicle at $3,392 per year, but there are significant variations depending on the type and model.
One certainty is that the steepest period of depreciation is in the first year of ownership, indeed some would say in the first mile. That is the point at which your “new” vehicle becomes “used” and even if you were to head right back to the dealership, they would quote you the wholesale price to buy back the car that you just paid retail for. Also any fees or sales tax you paid on your vehicle will not be counted toward the value of the vehicle.
Most leading experts put the average first-year depreciation somewhere between 15 and 20 percent of the price of the car. After that a vehicle will lose around 10 percent of its value annually for the next four years though there can be very wide variations among models and everything is dependent on the mileage driven and condition.
The speed of depreciation only becomes important to most of us when we come to sell our car. It is depressing to know that you have been making payments for years only to learn that your car is worth less than the amount you still owe.
This wont be the problem in your case even after 7 or 8 yrs. Bmw and Mb are very costly to maintain after the 3 / 4 yr warranty is up. That's why a lot of people lease them instead of buying . I don't like to lease. I keep my vehicles in good shape and then sell private .
Any good dealer will match a CarMax quote if not find another DEALER. In your case if dealer is a lot lower priced ( 3k ) there trying to rip you off or hoping your to lazy to sell privately. Take your time and don't rush this deal.
I would continue negotiating with other dealers asking each one will you match a Carmax quote for my trade in. plus meeting my price of xxx for the sale TODAY. If they (dealers ) wont consider that price sell vehicle private or to CarMax.

My thoughts are Honda's don't deprecate as much in the first years of ownership as American cars do. My above scenario does happen . Just something to always consider

Anyone in the SF Bay Area please consider contacting Manly Honda in Santa Rosa. Quickest and by big chunk most competitive price. No hassle, no need to drive down price. The quote I got from the internet sites was the lowest price.
Finance people only once mentioned extended warranty and never pushed this.
It was a busy Sunday at the dealer so it took 2 hours to drive out the lot but good car buying experience
All you recent buyers (or disappointed buyers), please take a minute and write up a Dealer Review. Thanks!

Did you get your first color choice or is inventory thinning out?
So the selling price is $1,200 below invoice. Pretty good - when you figure that TMV is an average, you can see that some people are getting a bit more off. Some others are paying more.
If you want to play the game, you can offer $26,622 plus taxes and fees and let them think on it a couple of days.
If you're ready to start enjoying the new ride, your price isn't bad at all (assuming the fees aren't nuts) and it's still below average.
The color choices and selection could push you toward buying sooner than later. But they show 38 AWD EX-Ls on their webpage today.
$250 for document fee, $33.50 for DMV fees and sales tax on top of this price.
Is this a good price.
I will make them pay on the Honda Survey (which I know Honda with its new younger management team takes and punishes dealers very seriously).
Go shop around, Criswell in Germantown and Sport in Columbia, usually have better prices than Herson's because of larger volume. You do know Sport Honda's BF specials included a EX-L AWD for $24882 + freight + doc fees + MD tag/taxes. And a CRV Touring AWD for $28,495. I got the CRV LX FWD for $ 19,382 + ......
The catch was I was 2nd in line (got there around 7 for 8:30 opening, and first guy bought a 2016 Accord LX for $18000), and, I had to finance the car at 3.9% for 60 months, which I did but will pay cash or refinance before Honda Finance process the paper.
This was the 4th Honda I bought at Sport Honda's holiday specials (Labor, Memorial, BF and day after Christmas) in the past 2 years, and prices have been great. But today's sales service was terrible and I will rip them a new one on Honda sales survey.
Call them to see if they willing to sell you a EX-L for something like $500 over BF prices. It will still be far below what you are offering Herson's. Or, wait for another sale the day after Christmas, which I bought a Civic LX coupe 2013 Christmas for $12000'ish.

Best deals this Month on any vehicle will be the last 6 days after Christmas. That's when the real Negotiations and Buying should start.
If you guys are opting for a 2016 model CRV wait till the very end of this month also. End of the year sales / 4th quarter sales incentives that are needed will pay off this month.
Good luck

AWD I'm assuming - I get a slightly different MSRP from you though - $30,475.
TMV is coming in at $29,259 and Invoice is 28,659 (all these numbers include destination).
I didn't use a NW zip so TMV could be higher in your region. Seattle at least has a reputation for higher prices.
So your selling price is close to invoice. That's good for your region I think. People in NJ down to VA report $500 to $1500 below invoice often. There may be more room for you to negotiate, but I think you'll have to be pretty hardball about it. Easiest way would be to shop the current quote around by email.
And yeah, waiting until the end of the year could save you some money. But there's a lot of stuff going on over the holidays that interfere with car shopping.

But for $800 more for the latest and greatest... I'd go newer. That said, I drive them forever and will be spreading out the extra cost over a good 5 to 10 years.
I ended up with a 2015 AWD EXL. I ended up trading in my 2012 honda accord LX as it needed the bumper replaced, a new windshield along with the 30,000 mile service.
My estimated trade in value on the accord was 10,500 and I owed 12,000 on the car.
So the deal I ended up with is:
They gave my 14,500 for my accord. They then applied 1,250 in honda incentive cash. So the breakdown. is:
Gross capitalization cost with deal add-ons: 30,870
Cost Reduction: 2997,38
Adjusted Capitalization cost: 27,872
The dealer paid all my tax title and license fees along with my first months payment. I put zero down and didn't have to spend a penny driving the car off the lot. It is a 39 month lease and I have 38 more payments of 329.48. It almost seems too good to be true and feel like I am missing something. Any thoughts? I am also located in the North West Washington/Oregon region where it is tougher to get cars at around invoice.
I'm looking to lease a 2015 CR-V EX-L model (i'm in NY) and this is the offer they made me:
Honda CR-V EX-L (it's a new 2015 model)
Lease Term: 39 months
Taxes: 8.625%
Acquisition Fee: $595
Cap Cost: $29,301
Money Factor: 0.001750
Cost of Car: $28,472
MSRP: $30,275
They said they are selling the car for $29,572 (they said $500 over cost)
Residual: 60%
They said the payment will be: $368.33 / month (this includes taxes)
This is *after* I'm trading in a car they valued at $2,000.
What do you think? Someone told me that because they're only charging $500 over cost that there won't be any wiggle room and I wouldn't be able to get them down unless I asked for more for my car (trade-in) or I put money up front. Thoughts?
CRV EXl awd Invoice = 28,471 with destination charge.
Your numbers look like your getting ripped off majorly. Today that new 2015 vehicle is considered a 1yr old model .
In NY target 1500 to 2000 below any 2015 models invoice price . Or buy a 2016 model at Invoice price.
Stand clear of Hillside and Paragon Honda they are crooks and big liars.
Never lease any vehicle where the months exceed the warranty. Your asking for trouble if something goes wrong after the 36 month
If you want a 3yr term................. do a 36 month.

Brian thanks so much - just to confirm so I have something to talk about with them, what is the part that alarms you? the listing price? So they said it's 29, 575 and the cost is 29k. You're saying it's actually 28, 471 and that already includes destination charge, thus it's actually ~28k?
..When I googled this online Google said the msrp is 29, 645 so i'm still confused. Thanks so much I just want to understand more so I can be armed and ready to have a good conversation with them
Awd or Fwd model?
My numbers are dealers invoice price with the destination included. Not MSRP

He said: MSRP is 30k, and they're (and I quote) "Selling the car for only 500 over cost, so 29, 572"
The link you provided (thanks) says $28, 491 so in theory I should be paying that and nothing more for it?
Another thing that I am thinking about... they offered me $2,000 trade-in on my 5 year old, 99k mile toyota yaris with no accident history (just standard options nothing added on). And I'm thinking i'm getting ripped off on this too, because I traded in my 2015 Nissan Altima a year ago with 168k miles on it for $1,300. I feel like I should get at least 4k for the Yaris. The more i'm talking to you about this the more concerned i'm getting. Could you help me not get ripped off?
