I may also look in the Atlanta area as we have family in SC and could perhaps combine things into a family trip.

4WD is a must for us and we will not be taking advantage of the financing special.
Thanks for your help!

Honda web site says 2009 Pilot on May 22 hitting showrooms. Anyone have any idea's when Edmunds would have prices and more info?
Overall, very happy with the car but would not recommend the dealer, despite their aggressive pricing. Since I saved about $2k vs. an EX-L I'm going to replace the factory radio with an aftermarket pioneer double-din touchscreen unit with DVD, bluetooth, ipod integration, backup camera and overhead LCD (for the kids) that should run me $1,300 installed. Can't complain - new Pilot with better tech than a 2009 touring edition at a savings of ~$10,000.
Thanks to everyone on the board for sharing their prices and experiences. Happy hunting in Pilot-ville!
Not too bad. If you assume that the holdback on this vehicle is around $1K, then this represents a "profit" of about $500 for the dealer on the car at this price.
Hillside honda (queens) - would not recommend, high prices and won't negotiate over email
Paragon honda (queens) - poor communications, high prices
Potamkin honda (manhattan) - good communication, but prices were $400-500 higher than other dealerships even after adjusting for fees :surprise:
VIP honda (NJ) - reachable, but had the 600 mile car that they did not disclose to me
Paul miller honda (NJ) - would recommend you talk to jeremy, very practical, realistic guy. We did not buy here, but came close. That said, I am still waiting on a refund of a deposit I placed for a locate a week ago that I cancelled last Friday.
Open road honda (NJ) - aggressive prices, but shifty with inventory. Salesman confessed, unprompted, that the internet reps always tell people who inquire about a specific trim / color combo that they have one in stock when they really don't just to get people in the door
Planet honda (NJ) - very low internet prices, but then bump up when you get in with a high doc fee, VIN etching / security fee that they add to all vehicles (~$300) and PITA sales managers. If you can believe it, they refused three forms of payment from me in order to push honda financing (that I didn't want) and just told me to pay off the bill when it comes in. I bought here because they sucked me in with the low internet price, but after all is said and done the end price is comparable to what you'll get elsewhere and it's not worth the aggravation of dealing with their staff. They offered me a $100 referral so if you don't mind some battling with the sales manager I can direct you to the most reasonable sales rep I met there - just email me.
Good luck!

Ping me via e-mail as listed in my profile if you want more info, but it sounds like you can do about the same closer to home.

Thank you so much for all the info. I will let you know where I decide to go. I live on Long Island and it seems like all the inventories here are very low. Maybe a missed my chance. Thanks again

So if its coming out on the 22nd then pricing should be announced very soon.
Do you know if that special financing is nation wide for the 2.9% for 60 months?
Thanks,
0.9% APR for 24-36 months or 2.9% APR for 37-60 months
For well-qualified buyers.
Special AHFC A.P.R. financing available on all new 2008 Pilot models. 0.9% APR financing for 24-36 months or 2.9% APR financing for 37-60 months available to customers who qualify for the AHFC Super Preferred credit tier. Example for 2008 Pilot: 0.9% for 36 months financing at $28.16 a month for every $1,000.00 financed. Dealers set actual vehicle sales prices. See participating dealers for details. For well qualified buyers. Not all buyers may qualify. Higher rates apply for buyers with lower credit ratings.
Offer valid for 3/29/2008 through 6/2/2008, on new and unregistered 2008 Pilot Models and only on approved credit by Honda Financial Services through participating dealers. Honda Financial Services' standard credit criteria apply. Example for 2008 Pilot: 0.9% for 36 months financing at $28.16 a month for every $1,000.00 financed. See dealer for details. Dealers set actual prices. Limited time only.
It is listed as a national offer on the Honda current offers web page. Taking the cheap money costs the dealer $1,000 of their incentive on the Pilot, so the price will go up $1k.
There COULD be regional offers with cheap money that CAN be combined with the full dealer incentive - there have been in the past.
My credit union is doing 4.25% for car loans. So $27k at 4.25% is $500.30 per month for 60 months, $28k at 2.9% is $501.88. CapitalOne online is 5.29% and $513.12 per month on $27k. So you need to check with your bank or CU and see what the rate is and figure the model you want and your taxes to get the amount to borrow and see if taking the $1k and using your own financing nets out cheaper than paying $1k or and doing 2,9% from Honda.

I bought a 2008 EX for $24,838 before tax, title and license (just under $27,500 out the door). I thought that was a pretty good deal, $4000 below invoice/destination. Truth is, I was originally looking at the VP, but with only $2500 dealer cash vs. $3500 on the other models, it was definitely worth stepping up to the EX.
BTW, I got it at Carr's Honda in Chicago. They were a pleasure to deal with and also gave me a great price on my trade-in.
Now let's hope I don't regret it when I actually see the 2009.
You will not regret your choice when you see the 2009 PRICES

I felt the deals on the '08s were (and still are) extremely compelling, thus our purchases.
I got multiple email quotes from several dealers in the Chicago area, negotiated with each one through email, and then walked into Honda of Lisle with all the printouts, and they beat the lowest one (their original quote was 24,120).
Not sure if anyone got a better deal than this on the VP in the Chicago area. Please post if you did.
I will definitely get a quote from them... Would you be willing to let me know who you worked with?
You can let them know I was the guy who bought the gray one last night. My wife and I were there pretty late so they will probably remember us.
Good luck.
What color did you get?
Dennis
3 oil changes are about $66 at out local Honda dealer on special, about $100 at another local dealer that never has a special so that is not bad.

http://www.boch.com/bochhtml/bochhonda/pages/promotions.aspx
I didn't buy mine there, so I can't vouch if there are hidden add ons to the price. Boch is a high volume dealer in the Boston area... Good luck.
Is it possible to have the Ads starting this coming Saturday? I will go to the dealer on Saturday, and not sure whether they will hornor this week's promotion.
Better check Boch's inventory online. I got friend visited Boch last Saturday, found only 3 EX-L AWD left, they are all NOT 100%, like bumper scratched or dented. The only stock still lots are AWD SE (with DVD) at the same price. SE does not come with leather, heated seats.
Fxcai, I'd suggest you look at cars.com new inventory search. When we did our search, I found that a lot of Honda dealers listed their new stock on this website. That's how I found our Silver 4wd w/ Navi at a dealer 350 miles away. Are you looking for a specific color/trim level?
I did business with his Boston location. To make long story short, only the general manager knows how to do the job. Their Honda dealerships are running guarantee 120% of KBB Fair Value for your trade, but I don't think they will match Boch's promotion prices.
My experience is I have to go to the dealership 4 times and my deal hasn't been completely finalized yet.
Check Herb Chambers out, he owns lots of car dealerships in New England, from Maybach to Vespa.
Thanks
- Financing will allow up to 10% of MSRP value to be added (usually for add on accessories, etc)
- With MSRP at $31,595 and invoice of $28,610, I should be able to heavily negotiate down to the $25 range (with $3500 incentive) leaving about $6k in room for add on balance. So, should result in need to provide $1k or so cash assuming taxes, etc can be added into loan (big assumption).
This is not a position I have ever been in before...and certainly don't like it. But with 120k+ miles on the trade in and with a high interest rate...I figure I will be helping the cause with a potentially lower rate (payments are all on time, etc) on the remaining balance and getting a much more reliable form of transportation.
THis scenario came from some financial times that were harsh from some medical bill hits so was unavoidable. Now I'm just trying to emerge as quickly and as well as possible.
Thoughts on if this deal would work? I figure the pricing should get aggressive if a dealer knows he'll be adding a larger financed balance back in...
:confuse:
If buyer uses Honda special lease or finance, then dealer can only get 2,500 incentive from Honda.
