The dealer is currently willing to go about $1000 below msrp ($22,964) on a car on his lot. Is it reasonable to ask him to additionally pass on the savings from lease cash and dealer contribution? I.e. reduce the price a further $850?

How is the tax being handled? MD is one of a few states that applies sales tax to the entire selling price. Not sure that the $2000 at signing will cover taxes plus all the other up front costs (bank fee, dealer fee, license costs).

Good question there—I'm asking now. Is it better to apply as a cap cost reduction? And is it necessarily better for them to show me more for my trade against MSRP, or a discount off MSRP and less for my trade? I really thought my monthly payments might get closer to $200/mo, but I guess that's not possible with more money down, yeah?
We do not recommend using trade equity as cap cost reduction - if the car is stolen or totaled, you lose that money. Better to use it to cover your up front costs - bank fee, dealer fee, first payment, etc.
Regarding trade value vs. discount, it's all the same in the end.

Applying it to the up-front fees, not net cap reduction. And actually, they gave me a MF of 0.0007, so that's a bit lower. It's still a good deal if my monthly payments are $259, right?
If you're comfortable with the selling price and the payment, no reason not to pull the trigger.
I don't make decisions about other peoples money.

I live in northern Virginia and am negotiating a lease on a 2016 5-dr Impreza Sport Premium, w/ CVT. MSRP is 23564, with .60 residual at 14,138.40. They're offering a money factor of .00130, which seems a bit high. The net capital cost is around 23906.72.
The lease term is 36 months at 10K miles/ year.
What do you believe the MF and residual should be?
