Good point, the reduction appears to be from something like from 2.14% down to 0.98%. However, it's not an apples to apples when you compare the cost of the security deposits.

It's the interest expense on the lease that I'm comparing. Based on the residual value, my lease is basically costing me $20,600. or $572 month. There is only like $660 bucks in interest here to begin with. My calculation shows that it better to get the lower rate, since after taxes on the interest income on the $5600, I'd have less money. (Essentially i'd get the same amount ($660) in interest, but have to pay tax on that).

Actually runs about 10-14% APR, depending on your deal..... and that is a tax-free return, as it is paid out via a lower lease payment..

when you say that 10%-14% APR you mean the return, not the rate charged for the financing in the lease.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,604
Exactly... Hmm.. maybe APY would have been the better term?

But, yes... the rate of return on the amount of money you put up for the security deposits.. Almost without exception, it is a good deal.

    Hi Mark,

I would love to track my car, since the dealer told me it would be here by Dec. 18th and I have a close deadline, since I am driving down to San Diego on the 20th.

If you find out how to track a car please let me know a.s.a.p.

    Thanks so much,

    Mark & Barbs:

    Here is the link:
    https://oc.bmwusa.com/CFALogin/AccountSetup.aspx

Its the "owner's circle" link off of the bmwusa site. You need to ask your salesman for your production number - it usually takes a week from the time you put in the order for the car.

I just ordered my 525xi on Thursday so I CAN'T WAIT to get my tracking information.

BTW, I got my $54,040 MSRP car for $2300 up front ($649 Security deposit included) and $649 a month. MF was .0005!

    Have fun!

Thanks Rosie for the Web site.

Today I called the dealership to find out the production number and guess what they ordered the wrong color. Now it is too late to change. The person I ordered it from was not in......i left messages for her to call me.

I cannot believe this. I am going to ask them to loan me a car....because I had plans for Christmas to drive this car to see and be with my son. I am so upset.

    How could this have happened?

I ordered a 525xi, as well, however I placed my order on Tues, 10/31 and got a MF of .0018. I was wondering if you negotiated your MF of .0005 or if that is what the salesperson offered you. If that is the stated rate for November, then my monthly payment (presently $599) for a 525xi with automatic, premium package and park distance would be about $495 with zero cap cost reduction....sweet! If anyone could post the captive lease rates for Nov '06, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    '07 525Xi..

    November rates..

    Base MF is .0010

    60% residual for 3yr/45K..

If your dealer gave you the base rate of .0018 for October, they should have no problem changing it to the new base rate of .0010...

Cruelshoes - My dealer just gave it to me. When I commented that it was such a good rate, he said that was a special rate on the 525xi for November. I would definitely try to renegociate to be under $500! (Is that with tax - it seems so low!) :surprise:

Barbs - OMG - that sucks!!! I can't believe they ordered the wrong color! Is it a bad color? Could you live with it? UGH! I would be so angry!

    Folks:

Just a post of my buying experience in the Chicago Market. I just ordered a 5 series car at $1,500 over invoice, paying the current "buy" rate for a lease. In interest rate terms, the 525i and 530i are at 1.2%, and the 525xi is at 2.4%. With high residuals, you can get into a 525i for the same money that you can lease a toyota avalon.

Check out the lease forum for the current rates on the car you are interested in. I was told by 2 dealers to take my business elsewhere when I asked for the car for less than this. I checked 4 dealers, 2 being "in the game" with a lease payment based on 1,500 over invoice (in their terminology, $2,500 off MSRP).

on these boards I saw where people were discussing $800 to $1,000 over invoice and buy rate deals. I simply could not negotiate that good of a deal in the chicago market. Perillo in Chicago told me to walk after I rejected a $2,000 over invoice deal with a marked up money factor.

The November lease rates and residuals on BMW's seem to be as attractive as ever. The dealerships don't tell you this, thinking they can simply "split the difference" on a payment and keep more profit for themselves. I might not be the best negotiator, but without this information, I either would have paid more or not gotten a BMW.

    Hi Rosie,

Yes that does suck about my car. I was in complete shock last night. I called my salesperson at home and now hopefully it will get resolved. Anyway they told me i could have a 7 series to drive if they made a mistake....so maybe it won't be that bad after all. We'll see!!

Would you be able to provide a link to where you saw the base MF of .001 for November? My CA has not contacted me about the lower rate yet and I would like to be able to show him something should he be resistant to re-working my monthly payment. Also, I am taking delivery in December and can't be assured the rates will remain at the same level. Thanks again for all of your helpful information.
  • cruelshoescruelshoes Member Posts: 3
That monthly payment excludes sales tax, but since my new payment will be lower than I expected, I will probably roll the tax into the monthly payment. I am still confused about the MF of .0005, since other posters have mentioned the Nov. MF for a 525xi is .001. Could it vary by region? I am located in the NY metro area. :confuse:
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,604
    .0005 is for the 525i and 530i..

    .0010 is for the 525Xi...

All I can tell you is that without me asking, my dealer put in .0005 for the money foctor and 62% residual for my 525xi. I'm only about an hour south of NY (commuted for many years!) so I would think we'd be in the same region. He DID say that this was " a great deal that just started in November". HTH!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,604
It's always possible that their are special regional programs... BMWFS doesn't do that often, but I know there were special 7-series factors on the west coast last year..

Or, your dealer screwed up... then decided to eat the difference, instead of trying to renege on the deal..

Either way, it is good for you... at .0005 or .0010, the lease deals are great right now for the 5-series..

i just got 2007 530i with 5spd, premium package, cold weather package, sport package and navigation for $581 per month including taxes, 36 months, with 12k miles per year and 62% residual in northern nj. Is this good?

 Well Rosie, Thank God that you told me the link to watch my car through production because as I said on here, I found out it was the wrong color, wrong options, wrong interior.

Because someone in the dealership went in and changed my order without anyone knowing. So the person i bought the car from ordered the car i want Black Saphire, black dakota leather, prem.pkg, automatic, sport pkg, heated front seats, navigation, folded down rear seats and she threw in a satelite radio because of this mess.

If I get it on time I will be a very happy camper.

Please tell me if this seems to be a reasonable deal. I understand dealers in this are can be pushed to 1,000 over invoice, but I am happy with this pricing. I am not receiving a very positive response so far.
    I have proposed leasing a 2007 530i:
    MSRP = $54,530

discount = $2,635 (should be 1,500 over invoice)
    sell price = $51,895

    initial payment = $2,092
(title & registration 786, security deposit 700, first payment of 559.40 plus tax (our tax rate is 8.25%))

36 month lease with 12,000 miles per year

    residual value 62%

    money factor .0005

this should equate to a payment of 559.40 per month , plus tax (approx 606.00 per month)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I am a novice at this. Thanks for all your wonderful information.

While researching pricing and leasing on a 2007 BMW 530i I cam across the website fleetrates.com. Their pricing is competitive with the better deals listed on this forum. I know nothing about the site and was wondering if anyone had any experience or knew of anyone who had purchased or leased a vehicle from this site.
Thank you very much for your help and the wonderful discussion on this forum.

You have to read fine print, namely "All advertised lease payments are based with 10% capitalized cost reductions plus standard drive-off fees. Typical terms are 48-63 months with A tier one credit and are based on between 10-12K miles per year. Etc...". With such terms, it is not difficult to get low monthly payments. I believe that almost everyone can do better with just forcing the dealers to use non-increased MF!

I bought my 2005 Infiniti G35-6MT through fleetrate.com. I paid $1000 less than MSRP when all dealers were at MSRP. It was totally painless as the car was delivered to my house along with all the necessary paperwork to sign. I plan to use them again this winter when my wife's lease runs out. You do need to know exactly what you want though.

What kind of discount can you expect below MSRP or above Invoice on a strickly cash deal. No lease.

    Hi Everyone on this Board,

I am in the market for a 2007 BMW 550i and would like to know what kind of prices I can get. Is it even realistic for $500 to $1500 above invoice.
I am looking to include the sports package, premium package, navigation system, rear shade and manual side shade, heated front seat.

Is it true that BMW doesn't discount as much for the 550i than the 530 b/c there are many out there?

    Any information would help!

    Thanks,

I am about to lease a 530i / 3yr. / 15k with the following options, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    MSRP $54,070
Cap Cost $51,345 (Includes MACO $380.00)= $990.00 ovr inv.
    Invoice $49,975
Drive Off $2,387.90 (includes 1 sec deposit & 1st months)
    Monthly payment $567.26 + tax = $611.22

I may do 6 additional sec deposits, this would bring down the monthly payment to $531.78 + tax, debating if I should just invest that money and possibly do better there.. any comments would certainly be appreciated.
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,604
That looks like a pretty good deal.. and the 5-series lease is great right now..

I doubt you'll be able to better by investing the money... Any reduction in payment is "after-tax" money... 10% after taxes guaranteed is not something I would hope to beat.

Find a thread on this board from blueguydotcom. He seems to have the buyers perspective down pretty good. From a dealers perspective it sounds like you are getting the straight story. Markets vary across the country but generally speaking 550i's are rare and like in any business if the product you are buying is rare it should cost more.
How much more depends upon you.
Good Luck and enjoy the car, its amazing!

I'm in Los Angeles, CA, and I was wondering what's considered a good deal for leasing 530i. I was quoted on $3,500 down and $660/mo for 36 mo, but that's way too much for a $54,500 price I was quoted. I see that many of you don't pay down payment at all, and just put approx. $2,500 drive off along with 6 security deposits for a low MF.
Can someone please explain how that works, and which payments I should expect for a BMW 530i w/sports and premium packages + navigation. Now I'm wondering why do dealers want down payments on leases. :shades:

2007 530i with steptronic, premium, heated seat, shades. MSRP of $52,345, with a $2,265 discount, with a MF of .0009 and 1 SD ($650). My monthly payments: $614.99 for 15k miles per year for 36 months. Barely got in before the tax credits ran out. As of 11/28, no more tax credits!

Thanks for 2 forum posters who helped me with this deal.

I just bought a 2007 530i and I am wondering what you mean about Tax Credits. I ordered it in October but it is on the ship and should be here middle of Dec. Do you get tax credits with leasing and buying?

Also I didn't get the feeling the the 550i was any different than the 530i as far as supply. In fact I was going to buy the 550i until I found out it is exactly the same size as the 530i but with the bigger engine. I didn't want a bigger engine with the gas prices. Plus I just sold a Turbo Porsche which was plenty fast for me.

Thanks for any help on the Tax Credit.

I was quoted $670 (incl tax) for the 530Xi with Auto Trans, premium package, sports package, cold weather package, and Sirius sat radio. I was told that the MF was .0014 and the residual was 62%. Based on what I have been reading here, is this a fair deal? It seems that the money factors have been all over the place. Inceptions are 1st month, $675 bank fee, and the usual NJ fees and taxes - comes to about $2,000. The vehicle is on the water and should be here in about another week and a half.

I'm preparing to lease a 2007 530i, the lease on my 2004 is up. I have enjoyed the car except for the seats which do not fit my 6'4 frame. I was told yesterday by a BMW dealer (whom I believe to be very reputable)that the money factor for a lease on a 2007 530i is .002 and for the 530xi it's .004, both good through Jan 2. Can anyone tell me what dealer is quoting .001 and .014, I would like to contact him.
  • awzawz Member Posts: 3
The current buy rate from BMW is .0005 add .0015 if no Sec. Dep. The dealer can mark it up to .00105 if they want. I've had most dealers start at the .00105, but will go to .0005 once you call them out on it.

    Good Luck!!

Thanks. I'm quoted .002 for the 530i with no security deposit, so that seems OK. However, he is saying the factor is .004 for the 530xi with no security. Do you have any knowledge of this?

I just ordered my car an 07 530 with Euro delivery MSRP was 59750 and slaes price was 52900 from Nalley in Atlanta

My payment will be 447/mo including tax and 2700 down.

money factor was .00041 with 7 security deposits

Downside is just the wait to pick up the car.

    I got 12k a year and 24 month term.

I think it's a killer deal and if you have the time more people should try it

I am currently in the last year of my 4/50 for a 2003 540i. I'd like to get some price quotes for the Maintenance Plan Upgrade and an Extended Warranty.

Bear in mind that in three years (over that) I have only put 30k miles on the car (it's in for 30k inspection today).

Does anyone recommend a dealership or an aftermarket warranty plan that will do what I want? I am not totally sure that the maintenance plan will come into play because of sheer mileage numbers (I won't hit 75k miles in time) but I would like the warranty extension.

    Thoughts?
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,604
When does your current 4yr/50K warranty/maintenance expire? If it is soon, the extended maintenance would be pretty pricy for just two years of coverage, and not even getting to the 60K service..

    Ditto on the extended warranty..
