What dealer has quoted you the lowest so far?
  • tjw7tjw7 Member Posts: 25
hi, which dealership was it? did you try other dealerships? thanks ted

I just purchsed the Honda CRV EX 2wd from Fenton Honda at Ardmore, OK for 22k before TTL. All the Texas dealers were no willing to bring down the price so I waited and purchsed it from FentonHonda at Ardmore, OK. Texas dealers are no willing to go down on price and add accessories to increase the price. They want to bring the customer to the dealership to waste time and are very rigid in quoting price over email.

Heritage Honda in Parkville, MD had three Glacier Blues sitting on the lot as of yesterday.
  • lyndamdlyndamd Member Posts: 12
Was this the initial price they gave you or did you have a lot of back-and-forth? I just got a quote from them for $24,445, $1445 more than the lowest price I've received so far. Hmmm.
  • zswxzswx Member Posts: 55
Including free wheel lock (after negotiation). Spent 7 hours at the dealership, but overall happy with the price and service. Best car sales I've ever met.

The $22,265 base sales price, not including dest., tags, taxes, etc. for a 2008 CR-V 4WD EX from Apple Honda in York, PA was their initial quote. I haven't sent a counteroffer back yet to all the dealers who responded (21 total!) to my RFQs but will be doing that this week.

Thanks for the advice. I will look into those other dealerships. I've only dealt with two dealerships in the area, Philadelphia/Piazza Automall and MainLine/Ardmore Honda since they are close to where I live. York is about 2 hour drive, as in Lancaster, but I'll request a quote from them and see if I can get a couteroffer from the other dealers in my area.

I also, requested a quote from Apple Honda on sunday, but still haven't heard word yet. I asked if they could give me a quote with a fog light add-on, but to date no quote yet.

    Thanks for your help.

Thanks for the input. Parkville, MD is about 2 hours from where I will, but I will consider it, but apparently Glacier Metallic Blue is out of stock in my area unless I drive at least 1.5 hours in any direction. May consider, but dad not keen on going that far incase in the future there's issues with the car and it needs to be brought back to dealership. :)

Just purchased Honda CRV 08 (EX 4 WD) for 22300 including destination. Sales tax, title, plates and document fees extra ($ 23650 including everything).

They also gave 2 years of free oil change. How did I do?
  • zswxzswx Member Posts: 55
I think it's very good price. The oil change is worth at least 240 dollars?
  • xxazngrl2000xxxxazngrl2000xx Member Posts: 11
    asingh66 --

I think that's a great deal. We asked the dealer for $24,000 out of door (tax, title, destination, etc), but they said heck no, but dropped the base price to $23,600 from MSRP of $24,745.

Did you have any add on accessories? Where are you located? Was the 22300 a price quote, or did you get it to go down to that? I'd be lucky if I can get it to go down to 22300. :( The lowest they went for me is around 23000.
  • smackldogsmackldog Member Posts: 82
    asingh66 --

Based on your post, that would put your base sales price at $21665 + $635 freight + taxes + fees right? If so, that's a great price! That actually beats the lowest of the 21 quotes that I got from all the dealers in MD and VA!

Which dealer was this? The 2 years of free oil change is a nice touch too! :)

I just got a quote of $22,735 (incl destination charge) (not including tax, registration, tax and trade) for a 2008 CR-V EX 4WD. I am waiting to hear what is included on it. The MSRP was $25,100 so I'm wondering what options are on it. JUst in the last week I'm starting to see some good quotes. Maybe it's the end of the month/year and they're anxious. I kept wavering on the FWD v. AWD but this price helped make the decision for me -- the AWD.
  • zswxzswx Member Posts: 55
2WD is not necessarily a worse deal. I got my 2WD EX at $21000 and couldn't get 4WD EX close to $21500.
  • lyndamdlyndamd Member Posts: 12
What price did you get for the EX 4WD? How long have you had you 2WD? The price wasn't really my concern on whether to get the 2WD or the 4WD. I just don't see the need for a 4WD where I live because the winters are very mild. I'm also hearing maintenace and oil changes, etc. are cheaper with a 2WD. The only stickler is the trade-in is going to be lower and the dealer is going to have to search harder to get at 2WD. I keep my cars to about 150,000 so maybe I shouldn't worry about the trade-in. Any thoughts on the AWD v. FWD would be greatly appreciated.
  • taxlawyertaxlawyer Member Posts: 29
Can I ask where you got your quote from? The best I was able to find for the EX 4WD was $23,500.
  • taxlawyertaxlawyer Member Posts: 29
I think most of us don't need 4wd. However, it fits the image, style and utility of the vehicle so they add it.

But for toting kids around to the mall...off road capability probably isn't a necessity. However, if you live in Buffalo, NY its probably a different issue.
  • zswxzswx Member Posts: 55
I second your opinion as I'm in CA. Most difference between 2WD and 4WD for me is in the resale values. That's why I'm indifferent when the prices differ by about $500 (considering I'll keep the car for about 5 years). Since I can't get a 4WD at $21500, I bought the 2WD at $21000.

Email me privately at msbech@comcast.net. I don't want to "jinx" any pending deals until I get all my info together, so I don't want to publish details publicly because I don't know if the dealers are reading these boards. I hope I don't sound too paranoid!

Has anyone gotten any good quotes in or near Salem, Oregon for a Honda CR-V EX, or EX-L 2008. Maybe even 2007 We are just starting the search. Thanks
  • jere2jere2 Member Posts: 5
I live in Lancaster and Jones Honda quoted me the worse price even though I bought my last CRV from them. Piazza Honda in Reading was $1,000 less and Ebersole Honda was 1,300 less. Ebersole gave me another 200 off and I bought there. I traded in a 05 CRV and the difference was 6,285 plus TTL for a total price of 6771.

The base price of the CRV went up 920 dollars since 05 which comes out to a 22.48 percent depreciation in 3 years.

    Hi all,

Am looking to buy a CRV anyday now. Can anyone recommend a 3rd part warranty company? I'm in CA and I've read that you can't get 3rd parties online in CA although I'm not sure what the best option is beyond that.

    Thanks,

Just put a deposit on a CR-V EX 4WD - $22,456 ( price included destination) + trade in of 1500, tax, tags, doc fee, (mud flaps, wheel locks which I didn't really want but were already on the car) -- OTD price $22,458. This price was $58 cheaper than my next lowest price. The other three quotes I got ranged from $1,200 to $2,400 higher. Highest trade, $700 (told me even Carmax wouldn't go higher) to $1,700 at another dealer who didn't make up for that anywhere else. Other dealers couldn't believe I could get the car for that amount and told me to definitely buy it at that price because the dealer wasn't making ANY MONEY on it. I'm happy with the deal. Pretty straightforward, no BS. Can't wait to get it.
  • szerszer Member Posts: 80
Dealers say buyers are liars and so are they! If they are not making any money, why would they even sell u the car... they're in the business of making money and are not charitable organizations who give out cars at cost or at a loss

I am now negotiating with dealers in Missouri for 2008 CR-V EX-L 4WD with navigation. List price is $29,035. Is this what yours listed for that you purchased for 27,434? The best price so far is $27,990 + $199 doc fees. Has anyone else got a better price?

where did you get the price for $22,456 including destination? That's got to be the lowest I've seen. Is that the price quote or did you get them to go down to that price? I want to get it for that price, but it seems all dealers think its too low. The lowest quote I got was 23,000 but I'm not even sure if that includes the destination. :confuse:

I asked for a price quote from Apple Honda and got a initial price quote of 24,445 (include destination charge). This is even before I wanted to add fog lights. I wonder why your base sales price was so low, even with destination charge on there it's almost 1,500 lower than my initial quote. i wonder how they come up with their price.
  • lyndamdlyndamd Member Posts: 12
Where are you located? Come on down to Maryland. I got it at Schaefer & Strohminger in Bel Air. Brown's Honda in Glen Burnie also pretty much matched the price but $50 less. But Brown's would have to get the car from Bel Air. In fact, I used Brown's initial price and presented it as a take it or leave it proposition at S&S. They didn't believe me until I showed them my paperwork. He went back a couple times and kept saying that he didn't know how they could give it to me at that price because it's basically right at invoice, yadda yadda. He caved but he really looked "sick" about it. However, my face sure lit up and I was grinning from ear to ear. O'Donnell Honda told me that same thing. O'Donnell felt they were pulling a bait-and-switch because they would be losing money. Heritage Honda's bottom line price was $2,400 higher. I still don't understand it but all I can say is that I'm picking it up tomorrow and I'm happy.
  • lyndamdlyndamd Member Posts: 12
Need to correct the above post. I wound up buying it from S&S for 22,502 and not the $22,456 from Brown's. It was only a $48 difference but S&S is a couple miles from my house as opposed to Brown's being 40. And like one other poster said, if I have any problems with the dealer, I'd be spending a lot of time and gas dealing witih them. Brown's is already giving me a "hard time" by making me come in and giving them my credit card to take the deposit off instead of doing it over the phone.

I am located in a suburb about 10 mins out of Philadelphia. At times like this I may consider going down to Maryland. The lowest quote I’ve gotten was 23,200, but since my parents/relatives have purchased from this dealer we can probably get it for maybe 23,000 at most for the base model ’08 EX 4WD. Was thinking of fog lights ($636) but may re-consider buying it elsewhere and having relative put it on since they have done it before on another vehicle, not CR-V. Another dealer has them for $471. A friend who works at a difference dealer told me to ask for 22600 base, but I highly doubt they will go down that low since invoice/destination is about 23100. He said walkout if they say no. I wonder if they will chase after you. Afterall, we send relatives/friends/etc. there all the time. Tricky, I know, but I wonder. What has been the price range from other buyers for base model ’08 EX 4WD that you have come across in or around your area? Just curious. :D

btw, what color did you get?
  • zswxzswx Member Posts: 55
I bought a glacier blue EX 2WD at $21000 including destination. The dealer only had a black one left after my purchase. It's not the best deal I knew because they sold some EX 4WD on Thanksgiving at $21500. But that was due to a one-time special incentive and I couldn't get that price myself. However, for me, 21000 for EX 2WD is almost as good as $21500 for EX 4WD.

If you are in the bay area, I can share the dealer's information with you. The prices I got seemed much lower than those reported on this board. The sales manager was very polite, patient and helpful.

    Hi sid78,

I live in South California right now. Would you please share with me the dealer's information and price you got before tax and processing fee. I am trying to buy one 2007 LX now, but no dealer wants to sell me one at $21,000(out of road price). My email is haifengli502@hotmail.com if you feel it is not a good idea to publish the information here. Thanks a lot.

  • xxazngrl2000xxxxazngrl2000xx Member Posts: 11
    Hi urmaha,

I live near the Philadelphia area, and looking to purchase an '08 CR-V EX 4WD though. I did get a quote for a '08 LX 4WD for 20,871 (that's without tax, tags, destination, etc). Apple Honda in York, PA quoted 21,395 (include destination) for 4WD LX. All the 2WD price quote on their table they sent says "Special Order Only". Since I'm looking for the EX 4WD, I can't really help you out. Which parts near Philly are you from? I think you'll have trouble finding 2WD in our area.
  • smackldogsmackldog Member Posts: 82
    xxazngrl2000xx --

Unfortunately that's how the business is. Unless the quote is automatically generated by a computer (based on factors that were specified) for a predetermined amount, there is no guarantee that one person's quote is the same as another's. It can depend on the sales person, the inventory, choice of colors, the weather, you name it!

That's why it's only prudent to get as many quotes as possible to have a baseline statistic for comparison.

    Excellent Deal on '08 Honda CR-V EX-L FWD w/NAV
Fellow Edmunds member "Rasri" and I teamed up (we both live in the Los Angeles area) and bought two (2) 2008 Honda CR-V EX-L FWD with NAVI in glacier blue from Hardin Honda in Anaheim, California for $27,750 (out the door) as follows:

    Vehicle Price w/Destination: $25,360.47
    Doc Prep Fee: $55
    Sales Tax: $2,096.78
    License Fee: $229
    Tire Fee: $8.75

I think I got a great price and am very happy with the deal. :) Hassle-free transaction (a sharp contrast to our earlier experience w/another dealership). I would definitely keep them in mind for the future.

We stood firm on our price and was prepared to walk out if we could not come to terms. We had an excellent salesman (laid-back, honest, patient and knowledgeable). We also had an excellent experience with the internet sales department (very responsive and great follow-up). Rasri drove his car off the lot (less than 3 miles and with the plastic still on the rims) while mine is en route from Japan.

It definitely pays to research the vehicle and get the MSRP and invoice prices from Edmunds, Kelley Blue Book, etc. I spent over 2 weeks getting over 20 internet quotes from dealers and communicating with them via email and phone (also a great way to get a feel for the dealership and how they operate). We ended up w/a short list of 4 dealerships to visit that either had the car in stock and/or were willing to pre-sell en route car. It was hard to find a dealership that had two glacier blue cars in EX-L FWD with NAV.

Sorry this email is so long but I think that knowledge is power, especially when it comes to buying a car. Good luck all.

I am looking for 08 Honda CRV EX in Houston, TX. Can anyone tell me what's the best deal on 08 CRV EX? I haven't gotten any quotes and not sure where to start. From the information I have seen online so far i think 23000 drive out would be a good deal. Please help!

Just purchased an 08 CRV EX AWD from Atamian Honda. Received initial quote through the Atamian internet sales department via e-mail of $22,408 including destination (no haggling). Total deal as follows:

    $22,408+tax (5% of balance after trade)+ $299 doc fee + $65 Registration + $29 MA inspection sticker.

Traded in 2006 honda civic ex sedan, auto. Trade value of $13,800 which was fair due to bumper needing to be replaced. This was also only a few hundred under the Edmunds fair trade value (which didn't account for damaged bumper).

Lastly, they not only matched the 6% rate that I got through Costco, but beat it with a 5.24% rate through Honda (60 months).

The total process was quick (in and out in under 2 hours) and very professional. Overall, I highly recommend Atamian Honda and will do business there again.

I've been car shopping this month, and have met some not-very-good salesmen. Today I ventured into the Honda dealership, and test drove both a Fit (out of curiosity) and an LX CR-V. I was very impressed with the salesman; he seemed like a true professional. The sticker on the CR-V said $21,900 MSRP + destination charge = $22,535. I was willing to buy the car and thought $21,300 out the door was a fair and good deal. He offered me an alternate deal, showing me some kind of invoice and claiming that it would mean a $500 profit for the dealer. That is meaningless to me, and I suspect I may be the target of everyday BS. The end price of this alternate deal is $23,545.38 out the door. The specifics can be seen at http://yana.sent.com/honda2.bmp I would really appreciate input/advice, and also want to know whether my offer of $21,300 out the door is reasonable.

I just leased a glacier blue CRV LX 4WD for three years 15000 miles/yr. Base price 21005 which is invoice including destination charge.
Monthly Payment is $278 with $2000 total out of pocket upfront.
Monthly payment includes all fees and sales tax except $75 registration fee at DMV.
Money factor .0027 with residual value of 13900 (62% of MSRP).
No real haggling, transaction went smooth at friendly Honda in Poughkeepsie NY.
