Considering your location and then factor in the supply & demand, I think you did fairly well on your negotiations; about $140 over dealer invoice which is way less than the MSRP. Good job!
  • sophi1sophi1 Member Posts: 5
What planet did you purchase your CRV on. You did fantastic!! I'm in the process of acquiring a 2010 CRV and have done all possible research and could not come up with the figure you acquired yours. Good luck with you CRV, you've got a great head start.

Actually euglee...I thought it was about 1,000 BELOW invoice. Edmunds lists Invoice as 25, 806. I paid 25, 500 which included 710 dealer prep, so it came out to 24,790.
  • judyepjudyep Member Posts: 8
Sophi-funny...I purchased it from Planet Honda on Rt. 22. I emailed the dealers and asked them to give me the best "out the door" price and to send me an itemized proposal. At first a few dealers said I should come in to discuss it with them. i held my ground and told them "nothing doing" send me the figures first. Go a decent quote from Paul Miller but Planet Honda said they would beat it. Their initial email quoted me 25,500 and I called 2x and spoke with the internet manager to confirm that it included the 710 destination fee. She said yes and i said I'll be right over.

We were also getting multiple e-quotes in the Boston area all around $25,600 for the EX-L AWD and $23,250 for the EX (both including destination) with a $299 doc. fee added. These were quick Internet offers from multiple dealers. Honda must be offering some dealer incentives since they all quoted what is showing as "below invoice" according to various web sites.

As soon as I emailed multiple dealers through this site most sent low quotes quickly since they knew I was shopping around online where over the phone and in person I kept hearing stuff like "the CR-Vs sell themselves we don't need to discount much on them."
  • sophi1sophi1 Member Posts: 5
I'm sorry to disagree with you, but I believe the 25,806 pertains to the CRV EX model; the dealer invoice for the EXL, which is what the person purchased, is 27,205. These figures apply to this area of the country (east coast). If I'm wrong, then I apologize.

can you tell me your saleperson name please. I need a car asap. thanks
  • judyepjudyep Member Posts: 8
I don't think sales people matter that much. Planet Honda is a factory. We were handed off to three different people, but it didn't matter because there was no negotiation. they were either going to give me the price they quoted or we were leaving. i got the internet price from "Marsha."
  • malachai1malachai1 Member Posts: 40
Thats who I'm talking to right now, There hard to get a price from.

Do not..I repeat, do not speak with them (or any other dealer) on the phone until you have written prices. Send her an email that reads something like this. I am interested in purchasing a CRV...(state model and color). I do not have time to come to the dealership to negotiate. Please provide me with your best itemized out the door price that includes destination charge, dealer prep, taxes etc. She will give you push back, but be firm that until you see all the prices in writing, you won't come in. she also told me that they will beat any other quote by$500 so it helps to have another decent quote to prove that you are playing one dealer off the next. good luck.
  • chiragwchiragw Member Posts: 3
Can I use you as a reference in negotiating the price? Also did you choose the color or was the price offered on only a specific car?
  • judyepjudyep Member Posts: 8
Sure...I don't think the color affects the price so much, i just wanted to be sure they had what i wanted and they did.

thanks...i have to say the information i learned on Edmunds gave me the confidence to deal with the sharks in the car dealerships. the one piece of advice that I would give is don't talk to anybody until you have all your figures in hand.

Just got an email from a Chicago dealer saying the CRVs are overstock and offering 1.9% to 2.9% financing.

Thanks for posting the details of your recent purchase. It sure is a great deal. I was close to making a deal for the same model with a NY dealer for Invoice price when I saw your message. Could you please share the email address for Planet Honda so I can get an Internet price from them? Thanks

has anyone recently bought with Leather and Navigation?

could not tell from the OTD prices posted if any of these recent purchases had these two options.

am looking to buy another CR-V and based on prices in S.Florida am expecting to pay out-the-door around 27,500 (how does that compare?) for a 2010 with Leather and Navi

    bought a 2009 CR-V LX new last year for 20,228 out-the-door

    thanks.
  • gecoffingecoffin Member Posts: 6
I got one in March for 27.560. Was in NVA

    They added Taxes and such
  • laurilalaurila Member Posts: 18
was the 27,560 OTD or was the actual price you paid 29,000 OTD ?

do you have your invoice? if yes, what is the price at bottom with prep, tax, tax, title, fees?

I am currently in the market for a new SUV and I am choosing between the CR-V and Hyundai Santa Fe. I was just tying to see what others were paying. I am in the Phila area and my current best offer is:

LX: 21895 + tax and tags
EX: 23895 + tax and tags

    Hi Folks
I have been working on getting quotes from our local dealers here in Boise, ID along with a couple over in Portland, OR for a 2010 AWD CRV EX-L. They have all come in at a little over $27,000 for the car (no options). One dealer has quoted about $26,000. When I sent this quote back out to the other dealers they are all telling me that the $26,000 quote is for the 2WD model. I see prices posted here as low as $25,500 for the AWD EX-L. Why the big difference? Is $27,000 the west coast price maybe? Anyone else in the area? What did you pay and where at?
  • js492810js492810 Member Posts: 2
We bought on the East Coast (Boston area) at the end of April and were getting e-quotes for AWD EX-L in the $25,500 - $25,900 range (that includes the destination of $710 but not dealer fees, etc).

They just announced low finance specials on the CRV this month they were't offering in April so maybe that is where the incentive is moved? At least that was what I was telling myself . . that maybe I wouldn't have got the lower price and the promo finance rate. Or maybe it's just more expensive in your area or prices will drop at the end of month push?

What was the selling price? Tax and License will run $2,600 here in California.

The best price received for the AWD EX-L is $25,800.

Honda financing is offering 2.9% for up to 60 months and 1.9% for 36 months.

That's $1250 savings in interest vs. the credit unions best rate for 60 months.
  • kmm227kmm227 Member Posts: 4

EX - 23758 + tax and tags so around 25700

Hi.. Just got a price quote from a central NC dealership for a 2010, Honda CR-V, EX-L, Navigation/Leather/2WD. $27,945 final price.

    Base price: --------------$26,672.00
    Tax (NC-3%), --------------$800.16
    Dealer documentation: ---$398.00
    MV fees: -------------------------$74.00
    ==================
    OTD - -------------------------$27,945.
Anyone getting better deals in the NC area? Is this a good price? Glacier Blue and Urban Titanium are available. This is the MSRP $29205, Invoice $27,211. So, I guess $439 under invoice.
  • richbf2richbf2 Member Posts: 73
Hi all! i just took delivery of my new crv silver. The OTD is 23.7k. I am here in Annanadale VA. How am i doing? Thanks
  • rkj1rkj1 Member Posts: 11
Is it 23.7 OTD for EX version (Including TTL + Desstination) ? If Yes then you just broke a record. Congratulations.
  • gecoffingecoffin Member Posts: 6
    Depends on what options? Navi?

Bought a 2010 CR-V AWD Nav and leather in March for 27,560
  • kmm227kmm227 Member Posts: 4
I just bought mine last night and the total was 24797 OTD including everything
  • keninnc1keninnc1 Member Posts: 9
I actually have a new offer from a competitor dealership:

    Base price: --------------$26,576.00
    Tax (NC-3%), --------------$797.00
    Dealer documentation: ---$398.00
    MV fees: -------------------------$74.00
    ==================
    OTD - -------------------------$27,845.

    $635.00 under invoice.
  • justaveragejoejustaveragejoe Member Posts: 268
Wow! $23,700 for EX AWD? That's great!

How much was the selling price and how much in taxes and license?

    and.....

    How did you do that?
  • richbf2richbf2 Member Posts: 73
here is a breakdown cost of my EX AWD not EX-L. MSRP 25,095 (this is Alexandria VA) + shipping 710 + floor mat + documents fee...some other things. Depends on city, here in Alexandria is 3.2%. Oh, i did not get the special financing rate since they said it was a good deal. It does not matter. I will refinance it with my credit union.
From my experience, dont get distracted from his analysis and explaination bull *&*). Do your research and focus on final price. If he says, he cannot do it, take your business somewhere else. They need you.
  • justaveragejoejustaveragejoe Member Posts: 268
Since every state, county, and city has different tax rates, license fees and registration fees, the best way to compare prices is to tell us the selling price before all the fees are added. The total fees in my area equals 10% of the sale price for the CRV.

If total fees are 3.2% that gives a selling price of $23,000
  • lisa90lisa90 Member Posts: 4
Currently getting quotes at approx. $19,500 plus taxes/tags/shipping. Plus offers of special financing. I'm in the Wash. D.C. suburbs.

    Does this seem reasonable?

    Thanks.

Very good price and the 2WD LX is a good overall value. Ask them to put in print what the other costs are (shipping, dealer prep, reg fee) and see where those come out - they sometimes try to make the discount out in those areas. the 2wd will give you better gas mileage (slightly) - i average 28-29.5 highway in my 2007 FWD EXL and the 2010 engine is more efficient and has more power.
  • richbf2richbf2 Member Posts: 73
my apology for not making it clear. I am not sure what the % is for dealer's fees but the tax is 3.2%. My final drive-out price is 23.7k.
  • lisa90lisa90 Member Posts: 4
    Thanks for your answer!!

I have an OTD price of $21,153.

You are right. I need to make sure what is making up the difference between the quote of $18,850 and $21,153. The majority of it is tax (6%) and delivery.
  • kmm227kmm227 Member Posts: 4
Does the 18850 include the destination charge of 710?

If so with the tax of 6% is should be 19981 plus there doc fee and tags. My tags and doc fees were 172 the cheapest that I had found them

If the 710 is not added in then the price should be 20733.60. It looks like there fees are high
  • lisa90lisa90 Member Posts: 4
No, the $18850 does not include the destination.

I agree they are charging high fees. $100 processing, $780 for destination vs. $710 and the tags/doc fees are $239.

I am negotiating w/ another dealer to see if they can do better.

    Thanks.
  • dodgerdealdodgerdeal Member Posts: 21
How are you getting it for 19500 including destination. In north texas, a week and a half ago, I paid 20800 plus tax and doc fee. And it was a literal pain to get that price.

Paid $25,500 including Destination and Doc Fee. Tax (6%) and title extra. Dealer threw in front mudguards, cargo mat and stripes. 2.9% financing.

My total drive out was $27, 051.

    Metro Atlanta area.

Just found a great website by US News & World Report. Great database on what is being paid for any make & model in your local zip. Check it out! All the info you want and need. Dealer hold backs, rebates, incentives, etc. Very easy site to navigate. Printout info and take as ammo to your dealer. The site is http://usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/cars-trucks/

    $1,186 Maryland Sales Tax @ 6%
    $240 Tags, Title, and Registration.
