D S T, my quote came from a dealership in AL. I realize that is not remotely close to CA, but wanted to let you know.

Do you mind sharing how you managed to negotiate $1,000+ below invoice on 2013 EX-L AWD? What were other fees (doc, etc)?

I live in DC, but for $1,000+ below invoice it may make sense to come and pick it up in Boston...

    I am interested in 2013 EX-L AWD w/Nav...

Who is the dealer and city, pls let me know ASAP

Hello, i am looking for the exact same trim and for that price also and live in NYS.

was wondering which part of NY and which dealer you purchased from. thanks.

    Albany, NY - Lia Honda

You could probably get this or better if you call them today - end of the month.
  • pantrupantru Member Posts: 14
The Honda care warranty price is a good price. Was it D80? Did you buy it from the same dealer. I got quote of 1235 for the same 8 year/100000 mile 0 deductible warranty.
  • pantrupantru Member Posts: 14
I started with the CarWoo iPhone app and requested quotes. Three dealers responded and the best price I got was 26900(including destination). But this dealer was 60 miles away from me. I showed this price to Commonwealth Honda that was closer to where i live and they beat the price by 200 and offered it for 26700 and also gave free Honda floor mats.

Other dealers around Boston area were offering like 27150+free remote starter,
    26900, 27152 etc.

The only other charges were doc fee- 283, MA tax of 6.25%, title and registration fee.

    Good luck with your shopping!

Thanks for your reply and advice.

Just tried CarWoo app and it does not work for me - it asks me for login info, even though I just installed it and do not have an account there. I could not see any other options, or an option to create an account...
  • tp2009tp2009 Member Posts: 7
I believe it is D80 - 8 years/100K. Got it from HyannisHonda - search for links in these forums. Dealer would match that price with only $100 deduct.
  • roxxiroxxi Member Posts: 9
    !!!

theres a Lia Honda here in buffalo and I was quoted 27700 from them.

Did they just give you the 27000 price or did you bargain with them?

is there anyway i could private msg you so i could get some info? thanks!
  • pantrupantru Member Posts: 14
You need to first create an account at www.carwoo.com. Select car your are interested in and enter zip code, then it will show list of dealers that carwoo works with. Then it asks you to create an account. Once your account is created, you can use that userid/passwd on the iphone app.
  • tp2009tp2009 Member Posts: 7
They had advertised at invoice price online - probably still there and I asked for 27K and they agreed to it as long as it is before month end. From recent messages, I see people getting 1000 below invoice now. So what I would do is try and get a quote by email for what ever price you think below invoice and take that to the dealership closer to you and find out if they'll match that price. If you are ready to buy today - they might give you a great deal! For Lia Albany I was dealing with their internet sales team - hondaalbany {at} liacars.com. They are very quick to respond.

Not sure how to do PM here.
  • roxxiroxxi Member Posts: 9
i've emailed a couple dealers out here and the lowest i got was 27667.

lia gave me 27000. i just went to the lia honda albany site and cannot locate the invoice price deal that you've mentioned.

anyway you can post a link or just the first name of the sales person (it says no last names on forum rules) so i can mention it to the lia honda internet sales person that im in contact with out here?

i can't figure out a way to PM you on this forum. grrrrr

I just looked on Honda Financial services web site and there is nothing, although it may be that info has not been updated yet as it still shows previous info with expiration date of 10/31/12.

Anyone knows if there will be any incentives this month?

I guess if I wait a few days I may see for myself. I am ready to buy but waited until November as they did not have anything in October, so I am not losing anything, but would liek to buy this month...

    hi guys

    i purchased a 2013 EX-L AWD yesterday. black ext/ black int.

I said above that Lia honda quoted me 27000 but i meant 27500. (sorry!)

I just went ahead and got it for 27500. i got 9000 for my trade. They said 8000 for my trade at first so i said no way and they came up to 8500. I said thats not possible, and we got up to leave and they agreed to 9000.

So i paid 18500 + NYS Taxes + DMV fees.

    Hi,

Which dealer offered you 24406 (out of door). I am also planning to get 2012 CR V EX. Thanks.
  • foxbeautyfoxbeauty Member Posts: 3
    Congrats on a new car!
Can you share the dealership info? Also what color is your new vehicle?
Did you get any extras? Thank you .
  • roginrogin Member Posts: 2
Thanks! No extras. Honda Village in Newton. Mountain Air Metallic (the new blue green color).

I emailed a bunch of dealers in the area and after shopping the best quote around for a bit Jim had the best quote. He was also one of the nicer sales people I dealt with. I walked in with the deal already done (negotiated the OTD price so I knew the final cost going in) and there were no surprises.

If you do use them, say Igor sent you. They give referral bonuses to past customers.
  • kumar_shrnkumar_shrn Member Posts: 6
Bankston Honda Lewisville TX, not sure if they have that deal, they said it was there till 31st Oct. I bought 2013 from other dealer for 25865, this was having pro pkg included.
  • nick1976nick1976 Member Posts: 2
So the difference between 2012 & 2013 EX is about 1400. May be I should try for 12 first. Thanks for info.

I have noticed my steering wheel is not properly centered when driving on a flat level straight road. The car appears to be tracking straight when I take my hands off the steering wheel, car does not pull left or right. Steering wheel appears to be off centered about 5 to 7 degrees to the left. I will be taking my car to the dealership (Terry Lee Honda Avon Indiana) to have them address this issue. My guess is the Toe alignment maybe a little off. I would be interested if this is a trend with this new model CR-V or if its a one off condition. Vehicle has 15,000 miles.
  • puhl64puhl64 Member Posts: 1
Hello everyone... I appreciate all the advice given here on purchasing. Just came home with our new CR-V.

Here are the details. Maybe I did ok, maybe I screwed up - but in any event, someone can learn from this!

Purchased at Smart Honda, Des Moines, IA

Paid Invoice Price - 23320 (included the 830 destination charge)
+ 197 for Mud Flaps (probably 90$ overpaid)
+ 300 for Honda Advertising Fee (think I got screwed on that).
    Total Purchase Price = 23768.

Subtract $2021 for trade in on 97 honda accord with 114000 miles

    Totals so far = 21747
    Lein Filing Fee = 10
    State title fee = 25
Title and License fees = 135 (think I got screwed here)
    Taxes (5%) = 1087
Doc Fee = 185 (think I got screwed here)

Total Financed = 23182. Total if no trade in = 25203

So, if I am correct in all the places I got taken - then I paid about 600-700 too much. But, I do love the car.

Hope this helps someone out there negotiate the best price they can!

Puh, you worked a good deal. next time you buy new vehicle you will be aware of the out the door price. when you negotiate a car price you then need to find out about doc fee's and ad fee's etc.. Try buying online or by phone next time its fast and easy .. enjoy your CRV

    Hi everyone,
I just bought a 2013 CRV EX-L AWD for $27360 plus taxes and DMV registration fees in Maryland.
I think it is a good price for the car, am I correct?

    Regards.

Wow, that's a good price. Would you mind to share your negotiating skill with us?
I only can get $28500 in WA. Maybe I should continue to negotiate the price with the dealers here.

Raejune, target 10 to 15 dealerships in your area. Wait till the last 2 days of the month. Call each dealers Internet Manager. Tell every dealer that for 200 below Invoice Pricing and no Doc fee's or Ad fee's you will purchase your model of choice and color with a credit card deposit that moment. Be firm tell each dealer thats the number that gets it done today. let each Dealer counter your offer till you feel comfortable with YOUR buying price. This is how you get the best deal on buying a car. GO DOWN YOUR LIST . I guarantee you by the end of your calls you will have the best price in your area. When i buy on phone or online i have bought my car of choice in 1 hour or less. Never failed me in over 30 yrs buying Cars this way. Supply and demand do play a big part in the process. After calling the dealers and you have not hit your target price of 200 Below Invoice i would suggest you take the closet deal to your price and home area, Or wait another month or two till dealers have alot of CRV's on there lots. Then you will find pricing at invoice or below.. Make every Internet manager you call give his best price before saying good-bye. The dealerships that cant give you a price right there on the phone hang up and xxx them off your list. Bad dealership. This is a fast and simply process. Its a Yes or No from each dealer you call.. Remember any Dealer that sells you this car for Invoice price still makes money from the Dealer Hold-back, and factory incentives back to the Dealership....... Good luck.......Brian

You sure did! The idiots in Danbury Ct are still asking $29 K for the 2012 ( but not selling them)....
  • brian125brian125 Member Posts: 5,244
POST DEALERS NAME..For that price in Danbury CT, let them keep it. Its a shame to say but some poor mis informed HERB buyer will get roped in and the dealership knows it. MAKE SURE YOU POST THAT DEALERSHIPS NAME SO BUYERS WILL BEWARE OF THAT BAD DEALERSHIP IN THAT AREA.....

I was able to reduce $200 from the original quote. The dealership was around 60 miles from my house.

All - just purchased 2013 AWD EX-L w/Nav in Silver and Black Interior from Ourisman Honda in Bethesda, MD.
Got a good deal (below invoice) and waived processing fee. Great guys there and nice to work with - very pleasant experience.
In order to get that price and have that experience I have done a lot of homework and research and brought in an offer from another dealership that they matched. Another dealership did not have color I wanted and Ourisman had almost all color variations in my desired trim.

Ama, Diego, Jose and Robert are all great guys there. Detailed my car, filled up full tank of gas, etc. Highly rated customer service.

    Hope this helps prospective buyers..

Do you mind sharing what you paid with taxes and fees? I'm in the market for the exact same but with a spoiler and crossbars. I've gone thru 3 dealers and could only get 29k.. thanks.
  • marinskasmarinskas Member Posts: 13
Paid $28,850 ($321 below invoice) plus $200 for appearance package (listed cost of this package is 3 or 4 times greater). No processing fees or any other fees besides registration, license and tags. Also bought 8yr/120k mi $0 deductable extended warranty thru Honda Financial for $1,120 (could have pushed for $1,070, but agreed to pay $50 more since already getting a great deal on a vehicle)..

    Hope this helps...

Really happy with the level of service I got from Ourisman Honda thruought this process. Highly recommend!

I just bought a MY13 Honda CRV EX, and today I noticed that the power door and power window switch at driver side blows cold air in. Is your car this way?

After a bit of negotiating involving a couple of dealers, I was able to score an EX-L AWD for a few bucks less than $26,500 including destination, but not including TTL, from a NW suburban Chicago dealer. I feel I was treated fairly and believe I got a pretty darn good deal.

I live in Birmingham and just purchased a 2013 EXL FWD for $26596. I removed some of dealership charges including dealership care (another local dealer was charging $1000+ for a clear coat "paint protector" probably a bogus charge) Add $698 for mud guards, pinstripes, wheel locks, cargo net, moonroof visor for total of $27294 before tax and tag. Add $499.50 for billing and clerical fees. I got fair mkt value for trade in and very pleased with service at the largest volume dealer in Birmingham. They found me 1.79% financing with my credit score. Because I traded in my 2011 civic lease to a honda dealership I received almost $1000 off my payoff quote which the dealer paid off. Lease had 12 months left but low mileage and monthly lease payment was just $69. Dealership gave three free oil changes. Overall I was pleased with transaction.

Thanks edmund forum members! Digested as much info as possible on this thread and purchased a new 2013 CRV LX for $24,300 OTD in Vallejo, CA (tax rate 8.375) and had them LEAVE ON the 3m door trim, mudguards, and wheel locks.

Whole process from test driving, negotiations, to car warranty/financing papers took a LONGGGG 4 hours. I mentioned prices that I had seen on Edmunds and gave them the price of $23,360 OTD to beat...they wouldn't match it, and we could have fought harder but...caved in at $24,300.

As for warranty, they did offer us $1,489 for the 9 year warranty, bumper to bumper...and even was offering to knock our financing rate from 2.49 to 2.25 to make it more appealing (this made me irritated...why not just give us the 2.25 rate on the get go). Either way, we didn't get the warranty although it became very very tempting.

Could you post the dealer's name? Shame on them. I'm assuming it's Fair Honda. I know my sister went there a while ago and walked out.

You can PM me if you'd prefer though they deserve a bad rep if they earned one. There are plenty of Honda dealers in CT/Westchester.

Car buying experience has been truly miserable. First I went to Paragon Honda- didn't want to haggle, had USAA price that said at least $800 off MSRP. They 1) refused to accept my financing through USAA- guaranteed that if my credit score was above 700 (it was) my interest with them would be less than 4% (it came back 7.25%) 2) agreed after much drama and handwringing to take the $1000 of MSRP that I asked. But when they gave me the invoice, they had clearly added the destination fee back in on top of MSRP, hoping I wouldn't notice. When I did, showed them that that price was included in MSRP on the car's window sticker, and was ready to leave, they called me back to talk to the "big super boss" (aka Finance manager) who said they had to have some way to make money on this car. Maybe they could take $1000 off and maybe they could give me 4% financing, but only if I agreed to sign up for Honda Care for 7 years at $3800(!). Knowing I could cancel that prorated at any time, I agreed just to get my car and get out of there. He made sure to state the total amount several times.

But when he brought back the revised invoice, he tried to direct my attention to the total amount, but I noticed the price of the car was listed at $2775 (Honda Care included gratis) meaning if I canceled it, I'd get no refund. Completely, totally outrageous. I'm sure they would have added on more fees, too.

So then tried Planet Honda in Union, NJ, armed with the USAA price (which was much lower than at Paragon). Again, didn't want to haggle. But was in a bad mood and not predisposed to add-ons. They do this awful pinstriping and door protecting that they charge $595 for. I thought it was ugly and refused to get this. Sales guy said they had a new one in that didn't have it done yet, but manager came over and said it had to be done so they could get their "cushion". I refused- was forced to get all dramatic about walking out and made a big stink about making complaints, since they had said they had cars in stock at the advertised price. Ok-fine. No pinstriping. Then they told me I had to get Nitrogen in my tires as part of a mandatory pilot program the manufacturer requires for a one-time charge of $199. I insisted on calling Honda who said of course it's not mandatory. So that came off. They told me Key Care would be a guaranteed 30% off my comprehensive insurance. Of course, USAA said nope. They did charge me a $300 documentation fee. But that was the only fee besides TTL, and I was sick of all of this, so I went with it. Also let me go through USAA financing. The finance manager seemed okay. Low pressure, nice. Offered me a decent $1400 for 7 years of Honda Care, that I'm sure I could've negotiated. But at that point I was just done and said no. The whole thing took upwards of 7 hours. I like my car, but it better be as reliable as it's supposed to be, because I don't know that I'm up for buying a new one any time soon.

Dealers to not set the finance rates for which a buyer qualifies. The rates a buyer qualifies for is set by the lender. Dealers will often pad the rate to achieve more profit. If the dealer offered you a rate of 2.25 percent that is the rate the lender qualified you at. You should get that rate regardless of whether you bought an extended warranty. This practice is why it is advisable to research the financing before entering a dealership.
