Thank you for the information. To confirm, they're offering $1250 lease cash and those residuals on the not yet out 2015 ST? Or are those for 2014 ST's still in inventory?

We don't have MF information for 2014 Fords. The 36/15 residual for the 2014 ST is a dismal 40%. Add 2% for 12K.

The information provided above is for the 2015 ST; I wasn't aware they weren't at dealers yet.

Can you assist me with something? Yesterday my wife went into the Ford Dealer to look at the Focus lineup. Looking at the sheet they provided her it turns out she was quoted a 2015 Ford Focus Titanium Hatch with the following in Illinois:
36 MO/15k

Retail Price: $25,390
Savings: $693.00
Selling Price: $24,697
Fees: $389.43
**Sales Tax $1,742.33
Net Sales Price: $26,828.76

** Finance Tax 7.00%

Rebate: $1,750.00
Down: $1500

Monthly Payment Range: $371-$391

I'm trying to derive from what they provided her how its coming out to that Monthly Payment Range. The sales tax added into the Net Sales Price kind of threw me.

Here is my math. This assumes that the Sales Tax on the Invoice price is rolled into the payments.

Sticker Price: $25390
Residual: .5
Residual value: 25390*.5=12695
Invoice Price: $24697
Minus incentives: 24697-1750-1500=21447
Plus Sales Tax and fees: 21447+2118.22=23565.22
Monthly Depreciation Payment: (23565.22-12695)/36=301.9506

MF: .0008333
MF payment: (23565.22+12695)*.0008333=30.2156413

Monthly Base: 301.95+30.22=332.17

Sales Tax: .07
Sales Tax Payment = 332.17*.07=23.2519


Total: 301.95+30.22+23.2519= $355.42

Nope. Illinois just changed the tax laws regarding leases on 1/1/15 - only the monthly payment is subject to tax each month. Last year, the entire selling price was taxed, which made lease payments quite expensive.

If I use the MSRP of $25,390 and the price minus incentives of $21,447 as the net cap cost, along with the MF and residual you've quoted, I get a pre-tax payment of $271.45/mo for 36 months.

Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is, and how they arrived at that number from the selling price less incentives. I find it hard to believe that it would cost $350/mo for a $25K Focus.

It's possible the dealers (or their personnel) are slow to understand the change in the laws.

True, I also bet a lot of people in Illinois are not informed of it as well. Thanks again for your help. I'll go back and ask for a more detailed breakdown of the numbers they were using.

Ford uses percentages ... divide by 2400 to get the decimal equivalent.

44% and 3.75% for 36/10.5

I only see the $7500 incentives.

Engine doesn't matter, but manual transmission might.. unfortunately, I don't know that for sure.
