Carfax question!

I want to trade in my current civic for this EX 2013 PMM exterior that I found on carfax. Now it says it has 14 Miles on it, and the pictures of the car say the same thing (You can check the pictures in the link to carfax). So in carfax it says 14 Miles but when you click it, in the right bottom corner (Carfax Snapshot) it says 14,000 last reported odometer. So I called the dealership and they told me that the car does indeed have 14 miles on it and that carfax has made an error

it goes back to saying 14 a few days back if you click to see the free carfax report.
I'm really confused and I want to know what others think? Is this Odometer fraud? was it a carfax mistake? please help me!

Car Faxes are often incorrect especially when it comes to odometer readings. They report accidents that never happened and sometimes fail to report accidents that did happen.

In short, they are not to be relied on 100%.

Having said that, how can a two year old car have only 14 miles on it? 14,000 would be low miles and I'm guessing that is what it has. You should simply go look at the car and find out first hand.

Lastly, what is an " EX 2013 PMM"? I've never heard of a Civic like that!

Not sure if this thread is still alive, but I am looking at a 2015 Lexus RX that Lexus has labeled as a L-Certified vehicle. It's priced at $32,999, with nav/moonroof/etc. That price is about $6k less than comparable vehicles. I checked the carfax and it stated that the vehicle was in a minor accident, no structural damage, minor bodywork completed. Is this accident the reason Lexus would discount the car that much below similar certified cars on their lot?

If I was to purchase the above mentioned vehicle, would my future reselling of it also be effected by a carfax with "minor repair"

Something as minor as a key scratch can show up as "an accident" on a Car Fax. I see now they do mention the fact that the damage was minor. If I were the one buying that car I sure wouldn't worry. Heck, a runaway grocery store cart could hit it again next week!

As to selling it in the future. a lot would depend on how long you plan to keep it. On a ten year old car, few people would care or probably even pull a Car Fax.

If it's truly 6000.00 below the prevailing market I would jump on it!

Thank you for your input! I am looking at either this Lexus or a new Hyundai Sante Fe Sport. At the end of the day, both vehicles will be right around $30,000. I plan on buying and keeping one of the vehicles atleast 5-6 years. Any thoughts?

Not that it matters today, but I suspect the value of the Lexus will be higher in that time than the Hyundai.

Probably ought to drive both vehicles and see which one appeals to you more - ride, refinement, equipment.
