Owners, have you encountered any problems with the engine? Does FORD still stand for Fix Or Repair Daily, or has FORD cleaned up their act? I am asking this because there is no problems/solutions discussion for the fusion.
Hmm, actually there's none, and the warranty claim level is the lowest in it's segment. Don't be surprised if the vehicle ends up in JDPower's top 3 of long-term reliability (which is still 2 years ago to take into equation), the numbers are dramatically low in comparison to others...specifically the Milan.
I am a little confused with your message. I am not sure what you are trying to tell me. So if i was right about the F.O.R.D. then why the flying pig things? Anyway i am going to try to make it out as best i can.
I wasnt trying to accuse the Fusion of being crap, i was just asking if their were any engine problems seeing as my neighbor has a 1991 ford taurus in which within the first three months of purchacing had to replace the entire engine/trani. All covered under warrenty of course. Also a friend of mine had a windstar which was in the shop more than in the driveway. My mother also had a ford in which she had to replace almost half the components in the engine. Knowing this i want to make sure there are no problems. Please be more clear in your next message.
I am sorry, i may be blind, but i could not seem to find it (the problems/solutions forum for the fusion), if u do kindly send me the link.
The Fords of today are nothing like 5 or 10 years ago. They've made big strides in quality - the Fusion has been more reliable than the Camry and the Accord V6 so far. Ford's problems lately have been lack of features and materials, not quality.
Yeah, but if you ask C&D (or MT or Edmunds) to perform comparision test they most likely will put Fusion after Honda, Camry, Sonata and Kia Optima. May be even last. I am almost 80% sure about it. They will find a reason. In Edmunds midsize sedan test Fusion actually came last after all mentioned above sedans. Or just read comparo in C&D where Aura was superior in many aspects like style, cabin design and performance to other cars but came only 4th after dated Accord, Altima and Kia Optima (!).
This is Mazda also and was designed just for the Fusion and the 2.3L engine.
I personally have only seen one and only got to drive it across the parking lot
The Five speed automatic is probably one of the best automatics I have driven and it is definitely tuned to make use of the torque available at the higher RPMs from the 2.3L.
...the one in the glove box...cute...is the left-leg flexor hydraulic or linkage, did Mazda design this also and does it have its own reservoir(for pressure) or is it piggy backed with the brake reservoir as is our 626? Are there any adjustments for personal tweeking?
There is a large Fusion/Milan/MKZ forum/club out on the internet. Do a search and it should pop up for you. I would link, but Edmunds doesn't like it when you link other car forums.. They have techs from dealerships that visit this site and have given very good fixes for noises... Good luck..
Has anyone out there seen or heard anything concerning the upcoming(?) Fusion coupe? I recently saw a poorly shot photo of this coupe in either Car & Driver or Motor Trend, I believe. (I can't remember which of the two magazines it was in). There was NO info as to whether this 2dr is a definite go or not. What's up, Ford? :confuse:
The coupe is supposedly to compete with the Accord and upcoming Altima coupes.
We purchased a 2007 Ford Fusion from Ken Grody Ford, Buena Park, CA, on December 20, 2006 and on January 13, 2007 the engine blew. The dealer is going to rebuild the engine and put it back on the lot and sell it to someone else that does not know anything about this vehicle, and then dealer will not give us another one! :lemon: :P
Of course it was covered, we only had it about 3 weeks. They dont know why it blew or anything, so they are just going to rebuild it and re-sell it. But now the dealer wants to give my daughter a used vehicle because now they say she doesnt qualify for the Fusion. That's all bull to me. I will NEVER buy a ford and DO NOT RECOMMEND KEN GRODY FORD, in BUENA PARK, CA on Beach Blvd. :P :lemon:
Sounds fishy to me (the dealer, not you). Typically Ford would replace the engine (not rebuild it) and send the old one back for root cause analysis. Makes me wonder if the dealer did something wrong and is covering his tracks. There has to be more to the story.
Contact with Ford directly. When my friend had issue with Camry and dealer refused to help (wanted money) he contacted with Toyota directly and in the end it solved the problem.
Normally, Ford would have sent the dealer a brand new engine (off the assembly line) and have the old one sent back for RCA. And you'd get a loaner. The fact that the dealer is rebuilding it and giving you a different car doesn't smell right.
Yes, there is supposed to be a 2 door Fusion coming around 2009. Visit other Ford Fusion chat rooms around the net. There are a few really good pictures...
This doesn't sound right... First the car is covered under a warranty. Second, the dealer would be in some big trouble with both state and Federal authorities for putting a car back on the lot as new when it has a history. Dealer "give us another one"???? What?? The dealer first would not rebuild the engine. They would probably get another off the assembly line. It is way to cost prohibitive to rebuild an engine. I'm sorry but there seems to be more to this story.. How did the engine blow? If the dealership finds out through the computer codes that you are at fault, then I can see why the dealership is being not so cooperative...
I bought a keyless entry pad online from a Ford dealer for an 06 Fusion. The programming instructions that came with it only covered Ford vehicles up to MY 04. I have emailed customer service 3 different times only to get less than helpful responses.
I know that on older vehicles, keyless entry pads were programmed just like the remote entry key fobs (you push the 7/8 & 9/0 buttons on the keypad instead of the unlock button on the fob). But as all you Fusion/Milan owners know, the "Integrated Keyhead Transmitter" is programmed differently and doesn't require you to push any buttons at all.
Have any of you installed a keyless entry pad on your Fusion/Milan, and if so, could you kindly tell me how to program it?
Well, as stupid as it sounds, is how it is  . They checked it and the engine was blown. We only had it three weeks...come on. Brand new car off the lot and this happens. But that's fine, I will never buy Ford :lemon: again!...we just bought a 07 Chevy Cabolt SS Supercharge for the same price we got the 07 Fusion and we are very pleased with it.
There is so much consumer protection available, expecially in California, that I have a hard time believing the "story". There's got to be more to it. What was the cause of the failure. I'd sure want to know if it was my car. Get an attorney. Contact the Ford Zone Manager. I'd be surprised if you couldn't get some satisfactory resolution.
I've incountered some less than scrupulus Used car salesman but a New car dealership have guide lines they must follow in order to stay in buisness successfully. Maybe the dealer was having a bad day,his feet were sore or his daughter just brought home her latest boyfriend that would even scare Jason...who knows...fecal occurs?!?
There is a PCM upgrade/re-flash that can be done to your transmission if you have the V6. This upgrade is supposed to make the vehicle far more responsive and give you a solid 0-60 of 7.0. Get out on the net and visit other chats. Its covered by warranty also... :shades:
please let me know what your trouble is??? cause my milan has slow pick up and not normal shifting and upshifting....then takes off like a bat out of hell ..V6 6speed
Its not a "trouble" issue. There is a PCM/computer upgrade to all 06 Fusions/Milans. Talk to your dealer. It is a TSB 06-21-11. Have the upgrade your car. I am reading around the net in other Forums that is new calibration updates make a world of difference in the way the car responds. I am reading a solid 7.0 0-60 time is one of them. I'm going to have my Fusion done in about 2 weeks. If you get it done first let me know, and most of all spread the word!
"Ford Fusion, Mercury Milan and Lincoln MKZ also earned the highest individual ratings from IIHS for frontal crash test performance. In addition, Fusion and Milan achieved top performance in the IIHS side impact test. All three vehicles come with standard front seat side impact airbags and 1st- and 2nd-row side-impact air curtains."

Mark.
I can't wait to hear the excuses as to why Honda and Toyota won't have it.
Do you really expect Ford to be able to make a car/truck that doesn't have a Problems Forum the size of Federal Budget proposal?
Look out your window, there are probably some flying pigs you don't want to miss.

600 people, Car and Driver..
Copy this link! Spread it all over the net! Boy are the Accord/Camry crowd going to hate this one! :shades:

The Fusion is also maintaining close to 40% conquest sales, mostly from imports.

A similarly equipped 2007 Nissan Altima has an MSRP of $29,500.
For your $1,800 you give up AWD to gain bluetooth, "intelligent key", and 50 more HP.

What exactly does that mean, though? Sounds like the engine needed some sort of repair rather than replacement...maybe a gasket or something???

Great news for Ford!
