This is the same problem I have with my Pacifica. I noticed the floor was wet on the first day but thinking may be the dealer steamed the carpet before delivery. It's dry a few days after that... I only checked it again yesterday after seeing the forum and YES IT'S WET. I will bring it back to get it repaired.
The "drippling" sound...not to be confused with a "DRIPPING" sound is constant and it seems to speed up with the increase in RPM's. In my case the sound just got louder and louder over a 6-8 month period until i brought it into the dealer and it was the "lifters". If you do hear the sound you should take it back to the service department and explain to them your concerns. As you know this problem is a very serious problem if left unattended.
The changer (if you have one) is mounted in the center stack right below the main CD/tape/radio system. The disc up/down buttons on the main unit will control is (as will the up/down buttons on the steering wheel). I don't know if they will work with an aftermarket changer.
Is anyone else still having issues with the smelly seat belts. I had the TSB service in July, but still have an odor. Has been fine this winter but when the temp hits 60 or above back comes the onion/b.o. smell! Help!
I took my Pacifica in this morning to check for the wet carpet. The dealer has just informed me that they have to keep it overnight. They removed the seat and the carpet!!! To my surprise, "why do you have to remove the seat & carpet?" I asked. I told them that there is a TSB related to this problem and as far as I can see, the repair is not that extensive... The service advisor told me that the water leaks is coming from the area near the brake pedal... not as same as the TSB so they have to remove the seat & carpet to investigate!!! Am I hearing another new problem or what? Does anybody out there have the same water leaks (near brake pedal)? Please post.
OR may be I should just forget about this dealer (where I purchase the car) and take my Pacificrap to another Chrysler dealer in town.
I think you have a dealer a lot better than the average. The 1st time you went there with the TSB I gave you, and they found the real problem (not the TSB one) and they fixed it. So A++ dealer.
Now again, you go with a TSB in hand and they find another problem. It's very likely they will fix this one too.
Perhaps it would be better to forget about these TSBs and trust their competence.
Your Pac, given the birth date, will have other problems too. If you research these sites you could write a list (A/C display fading, radio reception etc). You get depressed too fast. The dealer is great. The Pac is an early Pac and you got a huge discount on it. If you get depressed so fast you should have bought a recently built Pac.
By the way, I just went for the 3rd time to fix my Honda Accord. They are still fighting to find the problem. I don't know how Pacifica rate vs. Honda reliability wise, but I can tell you that my Honda dealership is the dumbest I ever heard about. Your Chrysler dealership is heaven !
rodut, you're right. Anybody out there shopping for the Pacifica, I strongly recommend the later productions. I did not do enough research before making my purchase and now facing all the bugs. For as same as any other brand with problems in the first year, the Pacifica has its share. By reading this forum, I think it will be a good car once they work out all the bugs... The saving is not a huge one. Not to be considered. Definitely go for a later productions.
About the dealer, my frustration was that they said they would call me for an update at around certain time and never did. When I called back, they switched me to many voice mails and once I got the right person, he could not tell me what's wrong with the car. He's just saying "oh, we are working on it, will let you know...".
I did not go to the dealer with the TSB, I only mentioned the TSB to him after the 2nd call for update with no answer. Then he said "oh, yeah... we remove this and that etc... we think the leaks is around ..etc.. We have to keep it here overnight etc...". I just don't know their competence level on the Pacifica. By the way, this dealer does not have a 5* on their sign. I assume they are not 5* dealer?
Now I am prepared to face more problems with my "Pacificrap". I will become the Pacifica in one of these days.
okpacifica, had my seat belts replaced last summer and they seem to be fine now. Perhaps they only replaced your belts and not the foam insulation which was the root of the problem.
I have a 2004 Pacifica with the single CD player and it does have disc up and down controls, but is a single CD player....Your owner's manual should list all the radio/Cd functions, and I found that the Sirius satellite radio functions (installed after purchase at the dealer) also use the disc up/down buttons to change stations ......
I have a great 5 star dealer who has fixed all my issues so far (been there 12 times since I owned the pac)...
the issue is they can not get the part needed for the recall . the system says its on unknown backorder. ie. they have NO idea when they will be able to get the needed part for a known recall !! common Chrysler, why send out a recall and not make enough parts !
I managed to lose one key to each our two Pacificas. Is it possible to duplicate these keys like a regular car key (that is, onto a Chrysler-shaped blank key without the "clicker" head) and use that copy to start the car?
Your vibration and noise problem description fits my FWD 04 Poc also. I had it into the dealer on Friday and asked them to check it out along with a list of other maint/repairs. They said I have a broker engine mount and it is most likely the cause of the problem. They have the mount on order. If this is a fix, I'll post the information later.....
2004 Pacifica AWD had rotors machined at 10k miles and now they need replacing at almost 19k miles. Five Star dealer claims that anyone that lives on a hill will have the problem with warped rotors as they heat up each time you go down the hill. They claim that all my previously owned vehicles never had this problem because they don't weigh as much as the Pacifica so not as much needed to stop them. I've seen on other boards that warped rotors are a problem with Minivans and Trucks as well when it comes to the Mopar products.
Anyway, can anyone out there recommend a brand or where to go to get some aftermarket rotors that they have used on their Pacifica, Chrysler or Dodge Minivans or Trucks. It appears the ones Mopar manufacturers just aren't up to snuff to withstand the weight of the vehicles that must go downhill daily.
thanks for link...about wet carpet on the passenger side....but I now understand there is a directive from feb 2005 that updates this 9/04 service bulletin...can't find it. I bought my 04 Pacifica 4 weeks ago (now I know why it was traded in)...today is the 3rd time they've had it. Should've bought that 05 or is there still problems? Also, 1 time I started the car and drove 1 block realizing I had no accessory power--turned it off and back on and everything worked..anyone experience this?
I dont know if this could be your vibration problem, but my Pacifica had some vibration and noise coming from around the front passenger dash area,or the wheel area,I couldn't pin it down exactly, and it didn't happen all the timle. I tried to have the vibration fixed at the dealer but their fix did not get rid of the annoying sound. I thought I was gonna just have to live w/ the problem. Until I finally figured out what the noise was. It was just a plastic cover piece vibrating and making an annoying noise. The plastic piece covers the "arm" that goes up between the front windshield and the side window. And, it was VERY annoying, sounded like a serious problem. I kept thinking maybe its a problem w/ the airbag, or maybe the front suspension, the dealer nor I could figure out what that noise was until I went for a ride in the passenger seat and just started feeling things. I touched the plastic cover over that arm and it stopped...problem solved. This is a silly fix, but I just wedged a business card (ironically the Chrysler business card)in the area to stop the vibration, no more problem! So, this Pacifica Mom has fixed this most annoying problem. I could take it back to the dealer again to have them properly remedy the situation , but why bother the Chrysler business card works just fine Hope this helps someone else out.
The "arm" is called the "A" pillar. I had the very same annoying vibration noise on the passenger side. I took it in for the wet carpet (see my previous post) and mentioned this noise to the dealer. They did fix it and it's now ok. You should take yours back to get it properly fixed.
Here it what it said in the R.O: "Removed the A pillar cover found missing / partially installed shim. Install new foam shim."
I've got about 46,000 on mine now and a large portion driven in the Tenn. mountains. Original pads and rotors. Try 2nd. gear down those hills instead of heating up your brakes all the time. I go down all the mountain hills in 1st or 2nd.
I have a 2005 Pac Limited AWD and it has performed FLAWLESSLY since I acquired it almost 2 months ago.
"Goldie" has ~ 3,500 miles on the odometer and must have been built on a Wednesday! The only thing that I could wish for in the Pac is a bigger engine? I got rid of my 2003 GMC Envoy XL for the Pac and even though the Envoy is heavier and longer than the Pac, the thing would FLY. I did have the V-8 equipped Envoy, but since it's a bigger vehicle, I would think that it would have been somewhat sluggish. On the other hand, my aunt has a Trailblazer EXT with the straight 6 Cylinder and I swear that would run circles around the Pac too. Chrysler needs to do something about this, even the UGLY Nissan Murano has more "scoot" than the Pac.
Does anyone know what production changes will bring to the 2006 Pac?
Power is not relevant for lots of people. Think how many people loved the Volvo 240 series. They sold incredible numbers all over America. There are legions of people who love them "for life".
Trust me, all the brick style Volvos (240 / 740 / 940 series) are among the laziest cars on the planet. My 1988 wagon is still next to my house and will stay there probably till I will die. It still works. I won't tell my wife's opinion about this ...
I have a 2004 Pac that has a noise from the A/C when it cycles on and off. Other Chrysler/Jeep products have this problem and I have found TSB to cover this. Each says replace the A/C expansion value. I cannot find a TSB for the PAC to cover this item. Has anyone else experienced this problem
It still doesn't burn rubber but my 2004 PAC seemed to have quite a bit more get up and go after about 3-4,000 mile. I don't know if it's a matter of engine break in or adaptive transmission control but around that mileage it just seemed to settle in and not feel so sluggish.
I agree, my 2004 Pacifica at 20,000 miles seems more brisk now than when it had lower miles. I think it is a combination of the transmission adapting to your driving habits and you adapting your driving style to the Pacifica. The Pacifica is a great cruiser that is happiest when you are driving at 8/10 maximum or less. If you are "mash the gas whenever possible" driver , your driving style and the Pacifica's style just may not be a good mix.............
My wife and I decided upon the PAC when it was time to replace our 2001 T&C AWD with 136,000 miles. We would have bought another T&C but the AWD is no longer an option. The PAC with AWD seems to be the vehicle most like our old van for meeting our needs, but I am more than a little concerned considering all of the PAC quality issues raised in the forum. I am hoping I will be one of those happy owners that can report back a trouble free experience. We have a road trip planned the middle of April so there will be a real good test. Hopefully when I report back all the news will be good.
Except a muffled rattle/knocking sound while driving over bumps (or minor road fluctuations) at low speeds, my 2005 Pacifica is perfect.
The Cyrville Chrysler dealership in Ottawa, Canada, asked Chrysler to figure out the reason, because I test drove other brand new 2005 Pacificas and that same noise is there ! In US most roads are perfect, that's why you don't hear it.
So HEY CHRYSLER, can you make a dead silent suspension for a CAN$40K car ??? It's a FWD, so no transfer case or fancy stuff ...
This is unbelievable! I followed the advice of dealership mechanics and matched up the actual miles driven for the 20 gallons of gas i put into my 2004 AWD Pacifica and all i got was 171 gallons for it! That is 8.4 miles per gallon and i drive in NYC mainly locally and i am NOT a lead foot driver and i took great care to how i drove those 20 gallons. I must admit i did move up to the high octance and i did without question notice a better drive and better consumption of gas. 1 tank usually last me bout 8 days but with the high octane i got 10 days believe it or not. Now i have to deal with $2.57 per gallon and a $50 fillup!! I hope they can do better with the 2006 model on this issue or this is the end of the Pacifica in my opinion.
No way ! Either your Pacifica is very sick, or you made a measuring mistake, or ... measuring the mileage in New York City means nothing. On ANY car, if you waited still in a traffic jam for longtime, and you burned two gallons of gas, the calculated mileage would be:
0 miles / 2 gallons of gas = 0 mileage !!! Awfull isn't it ? The 2006 won't be better.
When you go on vacation, fill the gas tank on a highway gas station, drive on that highway 65 MPH or less, constant speed for as long as possible, then fill the tank again. I get 25 MPG on my FWD, if I can keep the speed low. Like the book says.
Hey Rodut, I feel your pain as I too have - well had - the same problem. have them do the last TSB on the front suspension that was put out on this issue about 2 months ago.
I had the previous TSB with the Lower Control Arm done, but that didnt help. it did tighten the steering up a very very slight bit. but still this clunking rattle like the shock is lose. well they released a new TSB (which isn't covered by my extended warranty by the way). but the dealer fixed anyway as a preexisting condition. They replaced BOTH Front sway bar Links. and tightened bolts on Lower Control Arm.
Oh the results = it got rid of 75% of the rattle. enough that I am satisifed with the solution. I just hope that this is an improved part and not a fix that will wear out again.
Now I hear a very quiet thump thump thump from the right rear wheel area. I think the bearing is starting to go. it sounds like a flat spot on the wheel but its new tires and I reballanced again and ROTATED and the sound is still there from the same right rear tire area.
Been a real problem, lately. Been back to dealer 5 times in last two weeks. They get on the phone with Chrysler and agree on trying something. Now it is to replace some module next week. Dealer says he has to do what Chrysler says or he won't get paid.
The light flashes on the dash and the message about serving tire sensor system soon displays and stays all the time.
Sure hope the new module does it. New sensors in wheels didn't.
I appreciate the response but i caculated the mileage exactly to the 1/10. I strongly belive your advice about the mileage on the highway because i got aorund 20 MPG on my way to Virginia but the digital readout is still stating 8.4 miles per gallon and i have filled up twice since the test. My vehicle is not sick because it just came out of the dealership for a checkup very recently. Congested city driving takes a beating on your MPH but i tell you no lie on that. To be certain i will do it again but you have to take into consideration that 98% of my driving is through congested traffic, stop and go environment.
gbmilton & amyb2 - Today I had a rear motor mount replaced and within the first quarter mile I realized the first gear vibration (under my lead foot) and noise is GONE! In fact the car is riding as quietly as it did when it was new. Hard to believe it was a motor mount. Thanks amyb2 for the tip on the pillar but my seems ok.
If your readout still says 8.4? it tells me you haven't re-set it before checking your mileage again. If you don't, it will take a lot of driving to show a change. Re-set it to zero and check your mileage.
Hi I just bought a 2004 Pac , with the DVD kit, and the headphones that came with it didn't work. I found out that from december 2004 Chrysler changed for KOSS headphones Infar Red(#5064037AA), and that all the Pacs made before December 2004 would use Alpine 900Mhz Headphones (#468593AE). In my case mine was built in November, and they supplied the wrong ones. The remote wasn't quite the same but seems to work.
I have a 2004, bought new in 08-2003. It ahs about 38,000 miles on it now. The EVIC is an information and electronic options setting device located in the dash display area. And YES mine died also. So has the alarm system, the radio died and the dashlights have been known to dim on their own (not through any setting, just weird behaviour), seat memory fades, power seats become non operational on cold mornings until engine warms up (more weird), Also sometimes while driving. Still like the car, but wow what problems, not big ones, just really annoying problems. Especially since the car cost almost $40 G's. And not much in the way of problem resolution at the #@*#%^& 5* dealership either...talk about teething problems whew!!
I own a 2004 Pac and have 25K on the odometer. Last week I noticed very small 'slits' in the leather of the driver's seat, in the area where my thighs hit the seat. Each slit was no more than 1/4", but spaced about 1/2" apart...three in all.
Took it in to my 5-star for an inspection, and really thought I'd get the "Not covered, considered a wear-item, blah blah blah." I was wrong: it took the service manager less than 2 minutes to decide it was a defective piece of leather. He pushed down on the seat and actually created three more slits from the pressure.
He ordered up the part and will have it replaced under warranty.
After 2 years and 25K, its really the only issue I've had.
Thanks for the response....i was thinking to myself i should have reset the mileage computer..on my next full fill up i will be sure to do it and report it.
Alright, I own a 2004 Pacifica. Other than minor problems and the "Clunking" sound that happens when I put it in reverse, CD player skipping, fan belt being replaced 2 x's and waiting for the "updated" version, rattling at window (kleenex shoved in there fixed the problem) and the fact that when they installed my sunroof the controls are all messed up - you have to use vent to close it and it won' t open with one touch... I have had this one miiiiiiiinor problem that is scaring the hell out of me. WHen I first picked up my Pacifica last year (bought it new) it stalled while I was driving it going about 30 miles an hour. I called the dealership and the manager dissed me and said thet they ALL do that "once" when you first drive them. I brought it in and they returned it later that day and gave me a look like I was crazy and said nothing was wrong. SO - around 8 months later, I'm driving in the left lane of the 101 going about 65-70 miles an hour - at night - listening to the CD player, singing along when I look down and notice MY VEHICLE SHUT OFF! The pacifica shut off -- lights, everything BUT the CD player. I nearly got hit by about 5 other cars!!!!!!! If it hadn't been at night, I may not have noticed the vehicle had stopped until it was TOO LATE! Because the CD player was going I didn't think to see if my pacifica was STILL RUNNING! If it was light outside I probably wouldn't have noticed and not had time to pull over to the side of the road. Not only did I narrowly escape death, but I nearly caused several accidents with me trying to pull over! It's at the dealership now and they can't find anything wrong with it. What the hell??? This has happened TWICE in less than a year and they can't figure out what's wrong?!! Does ANYONE have any idea what could be causing this? I am scared to death to drive this thing. Thanks
Finally have a problem at about 46,000 miles. maybe minor or maybe not. Its happened a few times that when i shift to drive from a park position, the accelerator pedal is stuck solid so that you can not push it down. It feels mechanical as though its up against a stop. A few taps and it releases and back to normal. Anybody have this problem yet. Is there a mechanical interlock to anything else that anyone knows of?. Thanks
I'm looking to lease a 2005 Pacifica. What is the actual mpg that drivers are experiencing, on the highway and in the city? Also is there much difference between the mpg for AWD and FWD? The salesman says the specs say both get 17 mpg in the city and the AWD gets 23 and the FWD gets 24 on the highways. My friends are getting 15 to 16 overall.
On the paper the AWD and the FWD have about the same mileage, probably because the tests are done on pre-heated cars. In real life though they are pretty different especially during the winter. The following explanation is what I think ... but I could be wrong.
During the cold weather the AWD has a very cold rear differential to spin. There is no engine generated heat there, so the oil will be very thick, so gas will be burnt to spin those gears.
Fact is, my FWD mileage is exactly what Chrysler wrote on my Pac window. I often heard AWD owners complaining about the mileage. Also the FWD is more reliable, simply because the most reliable AWD system is the one you don't have at all. Can't break, right ?
Any one have this problem? MY Pacifica is a 2005 , I just buy it for a week. Than some problem come up. Yesterday morning is a cold morning in Boston. So i try to turn on the Heater seat. something happen. The heater seat light go on for one second than turn off. and yje memory seat will not go back what i set. My office is close to my home about 2 miles than as soon as i stop my car. I try the heater seat and the power seat it working. It not happen once, it was 2 times now. this morning have the samething happen. I talk to the dealer, they tell me never hear it before. but they ask me to drop off my car at night that next day morning they will test it. I hope they find out what happen. Any one have this problem. I saw a post #1128 have the same problem Any help will be great.
I would give you the advice posted earlier in this forum about simply turning up the radio when your PAC makes noises or has problems....However, it seems you already had the radio turned up.
Believe it or not I had the very same experience with a rental Jeep Grand Cherokee! My Pac was in the shop for the day so I ended up with an Enterprise rental Grand Cherokee, with only about 1000 miles on it. Same thing that happened to you happened to me - I was cruising along about 65 mph on the freeway when the dang thing cut all power! It was morning rush hour traffic for me - no one was letting me over the two lanes I needed to get to the shoulder - so I came to a complete stop in the middle of a 5-lane freeway! I too felt like I was going to die in a crash - some folks did not see me stopped and almost hit me. Finally a long traffic line tied up behind me. I tried cranking the engine - it did not start. No help from anyone else either - so get this - I jumped out of the car and walked on the middle of the freeway down the row of cars stopped behind me, found two guys in a truck and asked if they would help push the stupid car to the side of the road. I sat there on the phone with the rental company - who could not come and get me because they were "swamped". So after about 20 minutes - I tried to turn it on again. This time it did start! So I drove on the shoulder to the next exit - got off and drove surface streets all the way back to return the dangerous vehicle to Enterprise. I reported it to them and told them get it to the shop ASAP. They probably ignored me. I have no idea the outcome since it was a rental. But very interesting that your Chrysler and my rental Jeep had same problem!

Hope this helps. Take care.

I was wrong: it took the service manager less than 2 minutes to decide it was a defective piece of leather. He pushed down on the seat and actually created three more slits from the pressure.
He ordered up the part and will have it replaced under warranty.
After 2 years and 25K, its really the only issue I've had.
The key hole broke where you attach it to a key chain (really don't know how) and the dealer said it would cost $150 to replace the whole key...
Should this be under warranty?
Got the Chrysler Slush Floor Mat's but in my opinion they do not fit as well as they could...any suggestions where to get ones that are better?
Please let us know what you think.
Thanks
Thanks
I saw a post #1128 have the same problem
Any help will be great.
I have the same problem on the power site and the heater seat. It will not turn on in the winter time.
Did you get fix on your car?
