I'm in N. Virginia. Have the following offer for 2016 Mazda 6 Grand Touring without any additional options. $27,497 plus tax and tags. This includes financing through dealer/mazda and mazda loyalty rebate. Is this a solid price?

@btcutter I helped a friend to buy a 2016 Mazda6 Touring With Moonroof/Bose and Technology package for $25300 three weeks ago in Southern California, which included destination fee too. Dealership required signing with standard financing rate through Mazda financing.

Is that the OTD or selling price?

@carperso it is selling price + destination fee. Tax title fee and document fee of $80 in California is not included.

Hello, trying to lease a Mazda6 GT w/out tech pkg in NJ. 36/12 and sign & drive. MSRP is $31,015. Just started and email responses very slowly trickling in. First quote was $399/mo... Lol. Salesperson also told me the sale price of the car didn't factor into the payment amount. His manager is calling me back... But, in the meantime, wondering what my goal should be. Not a current Mazda owner but am a Chase customer if that helps. Thanks!

Negotiate the lowest selling price you can .. that will determine the monthly payment.

    2016 6 GT 36/12 lease numbers are 56% and .00030.

This month, Mazda is pushing 33 month terms ... those numbers are 59% and .00001

    Michaell,

$389/month all-in or $309/month if paying the taxes and fees. Both payments have first month due at signing.

    MSRP - $31,365
    Cap cost - $29,063
    Fees - $2,500 (!!!)
    Residual - $18,505
    Money factor - .00001

When asked about the fees... I was told the "usual suspects." Loan origination, MVC fees, destination and dealership fees (honestly, not sure where the taxes are hiding). Collectively, these fees are killing the deal.

roubaud negotiated sell price, I am not certain how close I am because his sales price and net cap cost vary by $904. Again, I was hoping for a sub-$300 sign and drive because his was $335 all-in with the $2,100 tech package.

    Thanks again!

The taxes were actually separately stated. When I asked for a breakdown of the $2,500 fees, the salesperson told me if that was the only barrier to purchase.... I should go visit the dealership and we could negotiate those fees. Never heard of such a high number of random fees.

TN Tax title and license out the door $25750 for touring (RED) , I think I left a $1000 on the floor. Good--- fun to drive , great gas mileage. Bad--- noisy tires , weak radio,

Bank fee is $595, dealer fee is probably $300-500, first payment is due at signing.

In NJ, lease taxes are calculated up front and can be paid at lease inception or rolled into the lease cost. Looks like the $2500 included the taxes and the other fees I mentioned.

@Michaell - finally ready to pull the trigger on a GT w/tech after a lot of research. Wondering what this month's numbers are for a few different combinations. Also, seemed as though you noted Mazda was pushing 33mo leases last month. Is that still the sweet spot this month?

Thank you again as I've been schooled (in a good way).

Unfortunately I can't post the name of a dealership here in public. As you probably know the best bet is to contact as many dealers as possible and get them to compete for your business. In Los Angeles area Browning Mazda and Galpin mazda are two high volume dealers. Start getting quote from these dealers and wait for a the end of month promotions.

Do you know the numbers for 2016 Mazda GT w/tech package for 12k/36 or 39 months in TN. Dealer said they are pushing 39 months for November. Are there any other promotions I should be aware of?

    Does Mazda offer a 10k?

    Thanks

since I wrote my question I read on carsdirect that for North America distribution, the 6 is built in Michigan.
"While the bulk of production for Mazda product lines are still handled by Mazda's Japanese assembly plants, several popular lines such as the Mazda 6 are currently built in Flat Rock Michigan."
  • saratogastevesaratogasteve Member Posts: 186
apparently that story from carsdirect, which was dated July 2014 was false data. I read another story saying the last Mazda 6 built in Michigan was Summer of 2012. The car has transformed itself since then from a so so car to a great car.
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Wikipedia says "Production of all North American models was transferred to Hofu, Japan, due to ongoing efforts to increase global manufacturing efficiencies". That's for the third generation model that started production in 2013 as a 2014 model.

Someone else's scorecard may say different, lol.
  • mohabamohaba Member Posts: 3
My sticker says: "Final assembly point: Hofu, Japan". Pretty sure it's some Federal thing that those have to be accurate.

    Hello Folks,

I am currently in the negotiation process for 2016 Mazda6 Grand Touring. I got an internet quote for 2016 M6 GT w/GT Technology Package Crystal Blue with Black Interior in northern California area from one of the dealer. Do I still have any room to negotiate on internet price to get a final price from the dealer? Also please let me how these below numbers look.

    MSRP :- $33,195
    Dealer offered price :- $28,259 w/destination charges + TTL
  • m6userm6user Member Posts: 3,181
If that price includes destination and there are no outlandish dealer add ons it is a good price.
  • mirandaw1mirandaw1 Member Posts: 3
I'm looking at the advertised lease special for the Mazda 6 Sport as follows:
2016 Mazda6 Sport Automatic $22,995 MSRP plus $820 destination charge (Alaska $865). Payment based on capitalized cost of $22,650. Total payments of $9,328. Lease-end purchase option is $13,336 plus tax or price negotiated at signing.

By my calculations this deal translates to a 58.8% residual. I ACTUALLY want a Touring with Bose/Moon, but want a comparble deal. SO:

MSRP for the Touring Moon/Bose is MSRP 27140. They have quoted a purchase price of $23809, (includes $1000 Mazda purchase incentive) or $24159 if I lease it (includes $650 Mazda lease incentive). SO based on these numbers I calculate:

    24159 * 42.2% / 39 months = $261.41/mo plus TTT + dealer fee. Does that seem right?

They are telling me the residual is only 53% and quoting me 285.80/mo + TTT +dealer fee

Of course the numbers keep moving around and they don't want to put it in writing or tell me more details about how they come up with this.

So does Mazda set the residual percentage? If so what is it for this car this month, and how can I get them to use those numbers?
  • mirandaw1mirandaw1 Member Posts: 3
BTW I am willing to go for a different lease term or mileage if the numbers make for a better value. I am near the GA/FL state line

Mazda sets the residual percentage, and it can't be modified by the dealer. But, the residual is applied to the MSRP, not the negotiated selling price.

    2016 6 Touring automatic - 53% and .00001 for 39 months, 15,000 miles per year.

Sport residuals are higher (54% for 39/15), resulting in a lower lease payment, accounting for the lower MSRP and selling price.

Using $27,140 as the MSRP and $24,159 as the cap cost, I get $251/mo + tax for the Touring.

My guess is that the net cap cost is higher than the selling price due to fees and such being added in. Ask the dealer what the net cap cost is and make sure you understand what's been added.

Mazda numbers are national; no advantage going to a different state.

I got a crazy 4% APR with Mazda Financing, so I am looking for refinancing options. I have a question though, will there be an prepayment penalty if I refinance with some Credit Union and pay off the remaining balance to Mazda Financing loan?

Thank you in advance for your response
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Pre-payment penalties on car loans seem to have mostly gone away.

So probably not but you have to read the fine print in your contract to be sure. I bet the loan office could help with that too.

I received exactly the same rate with Mazda/Chase Financing and did the same just after 2 weeks. Refinance through my credit union for %2.1 60 months. No penalty what so where!
Just give them a call and ask for exact payment amount.

@laandrew - Thank you so much for the info. I called Mazda capital services and confirmed that there is no prepayment penalty. So far they haven't generated the account number for my loan. As soon as they generate the account number I will refinance through my credit union and will payoff the remaining balance.

Thank you for quick reply. How does the lease cash work? Should it be applied to the selling price of $19186? Sorry, this is my first time leasing a vehicle. Thanks again.

It's a dealer incentive. Use your knowledge of the lease cash to negotiate a better selling price.

What is the net cap cost? Looks good, given the tax hit for living in Maryland.

Thinking about picking one of these up. Went in for the 3 hatchback but the interior was just a little to chintzy for me (coming from a Jeep GC Overland). Money Factor available for now? I would be looking at the GT with tech package.
