Confusion about what may or may not be posted can usually be resolved by reading the "Rules of the Road" linked at the top of the page. This is a relatively new feature that is a lot quicker and easier to read than the Membership Agreement (which contains the full set of "rules" and is linked on the left).

If there are any further questions, you can always email me or our Community Manager, Sylvia. Our email addresses are our first names at edmunds.com.

No need to post and wait to see if it gets deleted, or be afraid to post because you aren't sure what's okay!! ;)

If I had ordered this car privately, I would have canceled it months ago. I have posted the shipment status for my 300 below. Based on what I am seeing in the TSB on the pull to the right, it looks like I will have to wait again once it gets to the dealer to have that fixed as well. Anybody actually believe the last line in the shipment status stating June 8th as the delivery date???
    I ordered a 300c via a company fleet plan on Jan 14th.

Here's my experience with the 300C:

I couldn't track it until Chrysler scheduled it for build-which meant they assigned a VIN number.

Chrysler didn't schedule it until I cancelled the sunroof part of my order. I ordered all other options except the $40 cigarette lighter.
Once I cancelled the sunroof-things went relatively smoothly.

Was assigned VIN on May 17, built on May 21, Shipped on May 22, arrived Atlanta May 29
I got the car May 29.

After careful study, I even understand most of the features and benefits.

    Good luck

I think we all have suffered a certain level of frustration with a dealership, and that's why its our responsibility to contact the manufacturers (especially if they are a Five Star, Blue Oval etc.) to let THEM know about our problems. I know that a Ford dealership near me was stripped of its Blue Oval rating AND much of their manufacturer incentives because enough customers complained. Needless to say this was a huge blow to the dealership. I suggest that those of you who have had a less than Five Star (etc.) interaction with a dealership to 1) take it up with a senior manager or owner and explain the "you piss off one customer and you're likely to lose ten" theory 2) if you're not satisfied with the dealerships response to your complaint then you should absolutely take it up with the manufacturer.
I know that through Ford they take a formal complaint, and not only put it in the dealerships permanent record but also send a copy of the complaint to each and every person that you named in the complaint!

Tibbune - I hope you're able to knock some sense into the service tech and get your car fixed. Good Luck!

I have been watching this board for months and waiting for my 300c(fully loaded..38K+) longer. Car was ordered in Nov. and was to be shipped on March 20. The car is stuck in quality inspection. The dealer has no idea when the car will ship. Will not give me the dealer code for security reasons. No answers from corporate. I will wait only so long.
  • kvilleboykvilleboy Member Posts: 45
The dealer code is on the sticker of every car on his lot. It is a 5 digit number, I believe right by the dealer's name.
  • mark_amark_a Member Posts: 22
If you want your dealer code, go the the chrysler website, do a dealer search using the map, roll ther cursor over the dealer and the status bar will show you the dealer code.

"We are excited about the response our new products are receiving in the market," said Dieter Zetsche, President and CEO, Chrysler Group. "The strength of our product offensive and consumers' response is what enabled Chrysler Group to post increased sales seven of the last eight months and achieve a strong rise in retail sales."
Chrysler brand posted its highest monthly sales total in history to 57,333 units, an increase of 27 percent. Led by the brand's new flagship sedan, the new Chrysler 300 experienced stellar sales performance, posting sales of 13,079 units, an increase of 350 percent over the previous 300 model. Additional Chrysler brand highlights:
    *
Chrysler Pacifica sales increased 179 percent to 6,633 units; and,
    *
Chrysler Crossfire sets all-time monthly sales record with 1,669 units.

Doesn't the plant build like 4500 of these cars a week? Where the HE** is the one I ordered!?!

hahah my disappointment has turned to tragic comedy with the recent news from my dealer that my order from over a month ago will probably not be built until August if I'm lucky.

My 300c sometimes won't start unless you give it some fuel by pushing on the gas pedal.Of coarse it doesn't do it at the dealer, after 3days of leaving it at the dealer with no fix they gave it back to me,unsatified that it will happen again.Does anybody have any suggestions about this problem.
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
uggh...should've guessed this would be coming soon...!

OH NO! That is unfortunate. Why anybody would glue a fake convertible top on a new 300, or any car for that matter, is beyond me.

Chrysler's made a good attempt here with the 300C but it is still far behind the competition in terms of style and quality. But, unlike the Pacifica, they are offering it for a reasonable price so thats a plus. Personally, I think it looks like a new Chevy Malibu from the rear but the interior is gorgeous. Chrysler may have secured a spot in a niche market (diehard American car loyalists) but for those of us looking at all brands, it most certainly is not at the top of the list. My advice to Chrysler: Start the rebates early before people get too used to seeing the car and it goes out of "fashion"

A comment by a Brampton worker in reference to a survey they did on the 300:

Dated 6/1/04 - "i work at the assembly plant and we're going full steam 7 days a week and about to add a 3rd shift soon. sales have been way over expectations and we're 75,000 cars behind on orders right now making only 970/day. That's why many dealers have stopped taking orders for the time being, since it would take more than 3 months for it to get to gateline."

Well, at least finally some numbers! Good news is if they add a third shift it should up their production by over 300 cars/day. No wonder my order is now in its 9th week and no VIN yet - -75,000 cars behind on orders! That's 77 days. If you add that 11 weeks to the usual 6 that makes the wait 17 weeks, but that probaby doesn't include the sunroof situation. Supposedly they only do 450/day of those and only a portion of those are US bound.

Thanks for your help.I can't believe my FIVE STAR salesman would not give me the dealer code. Car was built 3-12-04. Built-Pending Inspection, 3-20-04. Ship to Storage, 6-02-04. At facility, 6-05-04. Current, Truck Dispatch, 06-05-04. Will take this printout to my dealer and ask them to explain. They may or may not explain, after all I broke their security code.LOL
  • fsmmcsifsmmcsi Member Posts: 792
Well, post 2630 tells the story about post 2629. Plus, the Magnum version of the LX cars is just now coming out, and the Charger version is coming. If there is a problem with the LX cars, it will probably be lack of capacity at Brampton.
  • mark_amark_a Member Posts: 22
Glad to assist. I hope you don't get caught by the security code police ;) Sure hope you get yours soon. I ordered mine May 24th, so it looks like I'm gonna have to wait a while.
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
to each his own on styling...but why do you say chrysler is still far behind the competition on quality with this car? what facts do you have to back up your statement?
  • dkrhardydkrhardy Member Posts: 134
I'm with you emale - what does ensoccer have to make that kind of ststement? I'm old - sorta - and I've owned quite a few cars. This one is the 1st that makes me smile every single day. The ride, the performance, the feeling of quality - QUALITY? Yes!! I bought a new R/T in '01 and it was wonderful ... this one is better. Hats off to the Brampton crews!

We just went over the 2,000 mark, and not having been on the highway for the last two weeks,
we've been getting 14.8 mpg for in-town driving. We were averaging about 19.3 when combined with highway miles. What has been your best averages for in-town driving with the Hemi C??
  • eeeleeel Member Posts: 57
With over 75k in backorders and you want rebates ???

Somethings not right there my friend.
  • fooefooe Member Posts: 21
does anyone know were the antenna is at on the 300c.Is it in the front windshield or in the back window. And also I can't get hardly any am stations for sports and news. If I put an external antenna on the car where would I find the connection other than right at the radio.
  • sandbaggersandbagger Member Posts: 16
On the vents beside the fog lights on my 300C the right or passenger side vent has a hole in the top half of the black vent cover while the left or drivers side vent does not. Is this to allow the plug for the block heater to stick through when you want to use it? Anyone else have that?
  • arnoldwarnoldw Member Posts: 28
I also have the hole on the right side, but doubt that it's for a block heater. Maybe the thermometer sensor is behind it? The actual brake vents are moulded into the bottom of the bumper cover! Gotta go, time for a spin.....
  • arnoldwarnoldw Member Posts: 28
Does your nav system have detailed coverage of canada? I tried one out in winnipeg and only saw an arrow in the middle of a white screen. Major highways are shown but no city streets.....maybe it's the snow!!! Gotta go ,time for a spin......
  • sandbaggersandbagger Member Posts: 16
Its pretty detailed for London showing all the streets, gas stations and any other points of interest you want it to show, but we tried another smaller town and it couldn't find it. After we went to that town it seemed to almost upgrade itself because it showed it on the nav. map. The upgraded dvd's should be more detailed . My dealership told me the upgraded dvd's were free! I will be going to Toronto in a week so it will be interesting to see how it works there.
  • jeepjeep Member Posts: 86
I can't help you with a connection, but, the antenna is in the rear window.
  • kevm14kevm14 Member Posts: 423
It's standard on the 300C at least.
  • jbbw20jbbw20 Member Posts: 38
Ensoccer: I agree DCX should start the rebates soon as their offerings tend to go "out of fashion" very quickly ie the PT Cruiser sales started with a bang and recently have gone bust.
  • thematrixhasuthematrixhasu Member Posts: 17
The rebates will not happen till first quarter 06 the car still has not launched globally and European buyers are showing interest and the American market is rediculas and remember the awd version and the Srt version has not even launched so its 75,000 orders in limbo and two new models to be launched and you think you will see rebates anytime soon sorry think again.
  • jbbw20jbbw20 Member Posts: 38
You could very well be correct, remember 18 months is forever in the car/fashion business. The 300 should be a sound product, if I had the same confidence in the dealer network I might gamble and say rebates may be years away however that confidence is lacking.

i have had my 300 for 1500 miles, picked it up on premiere night april 22th. the car has been pulling to the right the entire time, thought it would be a simple fix. dealership here in Charlotte, NC has had the car for 8 days and claims to of tried everything, taken the front and rear ends apart, changed tires, struts, wheels even had a local chrysler rep come in, still no solution. just hung up with the service manger, states they are not trying any new procedures, and are now looking at getting me another car. my question is has anyone ever had this happen to them? how long will it take chrysler to get me a new car? feels like i'll be in the loaner car for a while. tks!
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
    jlm,

i'd think they'd let you drive your current 300 until the new one comes in. that should be pretty painless...
  • nvbankernvbanker Member Posts: 7,239
has been noted on several of these cars, but usually equalizing tire pressure has resolved it. Maybe there is something more interesting going on.
  • arnoldwarnoldw Member Posts: 28
my 300c pulls right MOST of the time...following the road crown. If the road is FLAT it goes straight. If the crown drops left it pulls left. I find the steering very sensitive to the uneven road surfaces. Is this normal? Anyways I'd rather wind up in the ditch than into oncoming traffic.

    Have dealer check tsb 0200304.

Has anyone had trouble with there thermometer?Mine sticks on certain numbers and won't change. Is there a tsb on this problem?
  • carnaughtcarnaught Member Posts: 3,583
not to buy a Chysler locally, Airpark Chrysler. Your experience with this service manager is contemptable.
  • saywhatsaywhat Member Posts: 63
If you've been around as long as I have, you know what I'm talking about. Ford, Chrysler, GM., etc., they are STILL trying to screw us. WHEN are they going to smarten up and start doing the right thing and if they ever do MAYBE they will then recapture the majority of the car buying public again. BUT FIRST COMES TRUST, A BIG WORD THAT THEY STILL DONT GET! It's still the usual B.S. AND BLAH, BLAH, BLAH. This is my opinion, what do all of you think? "I'm sure the powers that be have someone reading all these messages in the various chat rooms".
  • emaleemale Member Posts: 1,380
i don't know, i've had both good and bad service with gm, ford and chrysler dealers. one size doesn't fit all. right now i have a honda accord...and i'd rate the honda dealer where i leased it as barely average.
  • soozpksoozpk Member Posts: 205
Yes, the wife caught it stuck all day at a certain temperture. Supposedly, it never adjusted
over the course of the day, regardless how many times it was shut off and restarted. Now, this morning it seemed alright, as it was 76 when she pulled it out of the garage, and it adjusted downwards as she drove me to work, ending at 63. Just something to keep my eye on for now...if it happens again, I'll bring it to the attention of the dealership. It's more of an annoying nature, as the temp it right there in front of you.
  • randyrandy Member Posts: 11
Yes, my outside temperature sensor sticks at low numbers. There could be a 20 degree variance. I plan to have it repaired at my first service call. I have about 2,000 miles on my 300c and smile every time I get in it!
  • fuzzywuzzyfuzzywuzzy Member Posts: 958
Alot of Honda & other import dealers are the same way. Just comes down to which dealer you get.
  • intrepidspiritintrepidspirit Member Posts: 662
Sounds like the 300C has the same system as the 300M. We have had 4 300M's and the performance of the thermometer for outside temperature has always been sporadic on each of them. Sometimes it will stick for hours and then suddenly jump to the current termperature.

This problem is a perfect candidate for the "could not duplicate problem" response from your 5-star dealer...good luck!
  • morselandmorseland Member Posts: 25
The dealership that my wife and myself purchased our 1999 300M offered us $4500 cash trade in value for a straight 300C with a moonroof, 34,600 list price. Purchasing the 300m was easy when we traded in a Ford Explorer. The salesman himself showed me the blue book value of our car at $6800. They wanted list price for the 300c in their lot. Everything on our blue 300M works except a rear window motor and the tires and body are in good condition, the car drives great and has been maintained. Was I out of line to walk straight out of the showroom? I live south of Boston. Any experiences on 300M trade ins would be appreciated. the car has 79,000 miles

We have a dedicated Chrysler 300M discussion where the folks familiar with that vehicle hang, and then there is our Real-World Trade-In Values which is an excellent resource for, well, real world trade-in values of all sorts of vehicles. :)

Check them out - and good luck!

    Dear Pat,

We want to purchase a 300C!

    Bill
  • patpat Member Posts: 10,421
Heh, right, I heard that part Bill, but I set about to help you with your question on your 300M trade-in! I'm sorry for not making that clear. :)

Hope everything goes well for you and don't hesitate to email me if I can help you find any other Town Hall or Edmunds resources.
  • bigmike5bigmike5 Member Posts: 960
I did a quick check on Kelly Blue Book and just punching in estimated condition, etc., the dealer trade value was about $7,200.00. They are doing the double rip off on you. Screw you on the trade value, where they make about $2-3K when they sell the 300M again, and holding the line at sticker where they make $3-4K. How bad do you want to get screwed to get a new 300C? Oh, and I used a Milton zip code so the value should be right for your area.
