all you socal folks, could you tell me where you had the best success and least hassle?
  • kraikrai Member Posts: 16
Thanks for the prompt reply. Appreciate it!!
  • kraftjkraftj Member Posts: 6
I found Contential Acura in Naperville IL gave me a great price without any hassle at all. TL basic without NAVI $31,200 before the rebate so you are looking at a cost without financing at $28,700 though in IL apparently it is taxed before the rebate so this rolls back about $160 of the rebate.

Moot point as the paperwork is already signed, but I picked up a new TL w/ Nav this afternoon in Los Angeles. 3 years, 12k miles per year.

    Cap cost - $31,333.29
Cap cost reduction (out of my pocket) - $1,216.86
    Adj cap cost - $30,116.43
    Residual - $19,208.80
    Base monthly - $368.59
    Monthly with tax (8.25%) - $399.00

Total drive off was $2,000. ($1,216.86 cap cost reduction, $399 first month, tax on cap cost and registration)

May have done better, but I feel like I got a good deal. Hell of a loaded car for $400 a month!

Porchi, I came accros your post, and I wanted to ask you if your cas has the rattling problems that some posters has been experiencing. I am in the market for an 08 Type-s, but I've been getting the cold feet due to the problems that I've found in the internet. I want to see if perhaps the TYPE-s is "rattle free" since it is considered the top of the line, or the problem is accross the board.

Have you been happy with your car so far?

Thanks in advnace for your input
  • thebinkthebink Member Posts: 10
No problems so far with my 08 Type-S. Usually have the radio on though. I think another poster mentioned that the car is very quiet, so any rattle will come through loud and clear. Also note that Type-S has active noise cancellation, so that may help.
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
My 08 S is rattle free. Seems very solid - I was concerned a bit as well from other posts before I bought. I have a co-worker with an 07 TL and no complaints on that either. My suggestion is drive it around before you buy. The Service Rep said earlier TLs had some rattles but Acura did address this issue.

    Enjoy your car, I am.
  • rjorge3rjorge3 Member Posts: 144
    Thanks a lot guys for your feedback concerning the rattling noises. I test drove one today (dark grey, it was sick!!) and I loved it. I wanted to ask the forums as well, I emailed 4 different dealers in NJ (springfield, Ocean, Open road of East Brunswick with the following (only one has responded with a quote so far); "want to lease 08 auto; 36 months, 10k miles per year, no cap cost reduction (no down payment);

    The one that replied indicated
"With just fees down ($1650), plus the first payment, I can keep you at $485/month on a 36 month lease at 10,000 miles per year. Do you like lighter or darker colors?

This is my first time sending request to internet managers. Have any of you purchased your TL this way? Any pointers? I did not go over the details of the car, but I want to know if I can ask the usual via email (money factor; negotiate price of car; options in the car, etc). Or did you guys go in person to ask those questions. Please share with me your most recent prices paid on leases on your 08s Type S. I think that since the economy is not that great, I can probably get it in the low $400s (or am I dreaming??)

    Thanks again for your inputs.

I will post a question re: 2008 Accord versus 2008 TL elsewhere. A few questions to make sure my logic is correct. Per Edmunds: TMV = 31,990 + 179 (area adj) + $54 (Alabaster silver color adjustment) + $760 (dest) = $32,983 + tax.

Please confirm that this amount does not include Title and License fee.
Does it include Doc fee (I have seen numbers upto $400 as being reasonable in this forum)?
Does this include the $2500 incentive that is being offered per Edmunds (if I choose not to get financing)?
Edmunds is also showing a $1000 incentive, which is valid, the $2500 or $1000 or both?
There is discussion on this website on dealer holdback. Is that in addition to the dealer cash incentive that is being offered right now? If that is the case, is my thinking correct that I should pay somewhere between $31,776 (see below) and $32,983 (TMV) + TTL?

$33,283 (invoice) + 179 (area adj) + $54 (Alabaster silver color adjustment) + $760 (dest) - $2500 (dealer cash incentive being offered by Acura to the dealer) = $31,776.

    Thanks,

I haggled and got the dealer down for a MRP TL-S at 33,500 but they say that price rebate and the 2.9% incentive cannot be used together, its either i pay sticker @ 2.9% or get it for 33,500 and pay an expected interest of about 5.5 - 7%, can anyone validate this? thanks in advance
  • hoopla1991hoopla1991 Member Posts: 10
The $2,500 cash-to-dealer incentive cannot be used in conjuction with the 2.9% APR. You can take one or the other, not both. Refer to Acura's website.

    Hi,

I am new to Acuras and was wondering if you think this is a good deal:

2008 TL w/o nav, dealer demo w/ 6500 mi. $1000 trade-in equity. 48 mo lease, 15K mi/yr, no additional money due at signing,

Total lease pmt $405/ month including tax

    What do you think?

    Hi Home4sale,

I am looking to buy a TL in Virginia. Where r u located? Did you get answers to your questions?
  • poker3poker3 Member Posts: 12
    Hi rban,

I live in the DC area. Could you please send me the information of dealership name, city and state.

my email address is bb4550@gmail.com. I would love to talk to you about your experience on how you landed such a great deal.

    Thanks.
  • poker3poker3 Member Posts: 12
What prices have you all been receiving for '08 TL w/o NAV which is before Tax, Tag, Title?

    Thank you all.
  • home4sale2home4sale2 Member Posts: 16
Can anyone confirm if invoice minus $2500 is the way to start and then add tax, title and license fee for an OTD price? Where does the doc fee fit into this calculation? Any other fees that the dealer will come out with that I should know about?

Also, do I lose any leverage if I am planning on getting my own financing or if I don't buy any extras like warranty?

    Thanks,
  • poker3poker3 Member Posts: 12
Hi Home4sales. email me at bb4550@gmail.com to compare notes. i have the same questions as you and want to buy a TL by the end of the month.
  • home4sale2home4sale2 Member Posts: 16
poker, just sent you the friendly intro to carspace forum whatever on this site, hope you get it. Either everyone is too busy or my questions are not valid but I plan to start below invoice to share the dealer cash incentive and go from there. If you scroll back enough, there seems to be a pattern but everyone's definition of what out the door means seems to be different (is the tax included, is it not, etc.) so use your best judgement.
  • rjorge3rjorge3 Member Posts: 144
hottl, is your Type-S manual or auto? That is a great price. that is they price that I am hoping to get.

Do you mind sharing more details of your lease. I just got a quote today for an 08 Type S auto, $1,229 doc fees/dmv etc + first month $489= $1,788 total drive off.

36 months, 10k per year, no cap cost. I am in NJ. taxes are included in the $489. Additionally they mentioned that it includes the GAP insurance, no disposion fees at lease end and $1,200 of wear and tear allowance (at lease end if I happend to have additional wear and tear).

i was negotiating with several so cal dealers and got a quote in writing for a TL-S for $32,300 and $32,500.

dont' pay what they ask. tell them to east $hit and bust their balls. i found that they were SO desperate it was not even funny.. go in, negotiate, then when they don't sell at the exact price you want - which should be around $32k flat to $32.5 - walk out. walk. they will call you bakc.

they need to sell it a whole lot more than you need to buy it.
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
DOC fees are really additional dealer markup. I got this dropped from my S deal. How long does it take for fillout the registration info after all? I did not go for part of the hold back. Don't forget you buying a low 30's car (TL with Nav )and the dealer needs to make a bit more than with a 20's car. I purchased a Silver/Black S 4 months ago and all there was the $2500 which the dealer seemed willing to give me the entire amount.
  • poker3poker3 Member Posts: 12
Hi 2009Stype, how much did u end up paying before tax, title, tag? how did u negotiate?

    thanks,

Re cost on 08 Type S (silver/black/auto/standard tires). I have the bill of sale at home so I am working from memory. It seems the dealers are quoting the car alone without trans and other "required amounts such as DOC fees" to make the list price seem very low.

I bought mine in Chicago and the total cost out the door was a bit over 36K. and it was fresh off the truck from the factory. I got them to drop the Doc Fees of $400 and throw in mudflaps (installed). Chicago has a bit higher sales tax (+.5% as well as a $100 per car city tax - ganster markeup?).

Since the MSRP was $38.5 this seemed good to me and you can go crazy looking for an additional $100 off some where else. My time is worth something!

I have a few issues that are minor. The console is too small to hold CDs!. The trunk is so well finished you cannot tie down the trunk lid. I guess Acura owners are not expected to haul lumber! There is not a rain lip on the roof so if you open the door when it is raining the inside of the door gets wet. The Brembo brakes are a bit grabby so the initial application stops a bit faster than you might expect - I have adjusted to this lack of linearity however.

Nice finish on paint and interior. Very quiet, no sweaks as others have noted, great sound system, super power, and very good MPG considering 286 HP. I am consistently getting 20 MPG around town with a "lite" foot.

    Go for it!

Check out Rosenthal in MD. They are just outside the Beltway. They are a huge volume dealer and will never be beat on price or service. I am in Richmond VA but got the best deal with Rosenthal. I got about 6 quotes from all the Acura dealers in Newsport News, Norfolk, Cheapesake, Alexandria, Arlington. Rosenthal beat them all.

I actually drove to Crown, the local Richmond Acura dealer and told them that if they are $400 close to my best quote, they have the deal. Their best offer was like a $1500 away.
  • poker3poker3 Member Posts: 12
thanks Atopra. Do you mind telling me how much you paid excluding Tax, tag and title? Was this a '08 TL with no navigation?

    Thanks.
  • scojayscojay Member Posts: 8
    Atopra,
I am also in RIC and have been speaking with Crown (monopoly) and Radley who I found competitive. What did you get at Rosenthal?

Thinking about picking up a TL with no navi this weekend.

Any idea on how much I should pay? Most dealers in the San Francisco area are quoting in the low $28k's (before tax, title and license.) Are dealers running out of popular colors? Any opinions appreciated.
  • atopraatopra Member Posts: 9
I bought an 08 TL without Navi. I paid 29500 OTD (Tax, title, registration, processing fees, everything included). I don't recall the exact breakdowns (have to check) but price alone was in I think $28500.

Also, the best price crown gave me was conditioned on a least popular color which had to be avilable on the lot.
  • poker3poker3 Member Posts: 12
    Hi Atopra,

thanks for the info. Where is Crown located? When did you by the '08 TL? You received a great price.

  • atopraatopra Member Posts: 9
Crown is on West Broad just after the Parham exit. Right in the same area where MB, Cadillac, VW, etc and all those luxury and near luxury dealers are located on Broad. I bought exactly one month today.

I got a quote for 33,740 OTD in NY for a TL w/ Navi. However the offer expires sept 2nd because of the rebate. Does anyone know if there will be any more rebates after sept 2nd? How likely are they to come out with more rebates or extend the current one?
  • poker3poker3 Member Posts: 12
i think u better take advantage of it now. it will be gone. dont wait.
  • aznboyaznboy Member Posts: 9
I'm unable to purchase the car this weekend as i'm away. Dont they usually have more incentives after labor day weekend? Does anyone know?
  • thebinkthebink Member Posts: 10
My bet would be that they would have more incentives after the current expire, especially with a new model right around the corner. That being said, if you found an interior and exterior color that you like, you may not want to hold out for too long. I was shopping early summer and decided to wait until after the July 4 incentives expired. They ended up being the same, except the financing was slightly less attractive. Ended up picking up the car the next week.

Anybody have an idea on the price range of a used 04 or 05 TL with 50-80K miles on it? tnx

I received a quote for a 08 TL with Navi from a dealer in so cal. Am I getting a good deal?

    MSRP- $36,940.00
    Residual- $19,208.80
    Cap Cost-$29,448.00
    MF- 0.00133
$1,350 drive-off ($0 down, inc. 1st mo payment, bank fee, licenses)
Monthly payment: $380 (7.75% OC tax)
  • rjorge3rjorge3 Member Posts: 144
jae115, would you mind giving us more details (check your documents) of your drive off fees item by item. The quote that I received for the Type S, they want $1,325 just in DMV, bank etc with the first month pmt of $460 it came to $1,785 total drive off. I just saw some ads in the paper with 0 acquisition fees, so I assume that DMV, bank and paperwork fees should not be more than $900. Your came to $970 which is pretty decent.

    Thanks in advance.

By the way, that is a great price. You got your car for 20% off MSRP. They've quoted my Type-S lease with a cap cost for the car at $33,137 ($38,940 MSRP), but I will not pull the triger until they come down to $31,152. With the 09 almost in their dealerships and with so much inventory (and me being flexible about color choices), i will wait until they have to unload their inventories.I am not in a rush. I love the car, but I love the price of the pmts I want even more (low $400s) ;)

    Hi
I live in central NJ and looking to buy new 2008 TL with Navi. Here are the quotes that I got so far (I am going for special APR financing)

    Dealer 1:
    31, 911+dest. fee + tax + doc. fee

    Dealer 2:
    31,784 + dest. fee + tax + doc. fee

    Dealer 3:
    31, 860 + dest. fee _ + tax + doc. fee

Above prices are no where near by what I see others are getting in this forum. Can some one suggest me a good dealer where I can get a better price in central NJ.
  • poker3poker3 Member Posts: 12
I bought a '08 standard TL without navigation, silver exterior, black interior for $28,400 + tax, tag, title. OTD price was $29,347.

I purchased the vehicle in Maryland. It was the best quote and the salesman made it a headache free transaction. No bait and switch like many dealers that I have met in the past.

    Good luck to all,

    Poker

I bought a 2008 TL with Navi for 30500 (excluding taxes and tags) on Monday Aug 25. Tell your dealer in central NJ that you know of people buying it for that price. That is how I did it. I went into a dealership, told them I would pay that much, in cash. Two of them turned me down, but the third one took me up on it. I drove out the dealer showroom with a brand new (11 miles) TL with Navi manufactured in 07/08. I wrote a check for 32517.65 for car, taxes and tags and dealer docs (about 170 Dollars)

This forum was very helpful in giving me the courage to go in and essentially make a low ball offer.

Somebody mentioned the dealers are hurting. Same guys who turned me down first time called me back three days later and I was very happy to tell them that I got the car for the price I wanted..Thanks to all the guys who posted their buying experience on this forum..
