You have to choose one or the other. Acura cannot afford to provide both. My experience was that I got the entire $2500 off in my deal and the dealer did not keep any of it. I was happy. There probably is some hold back but I did not explore that issue. Don't forget this is a upscale car and the dealer has to make more than on a 20K car.

That is really no different then any other manufacturer, most of them have the same caveat. Acura is different in some respects, you can get the cash when leasing. Infiniti is running $2000 dealer cash right now, but you cannot get it on leases.

I think im cursed with always running into salesman who'd rather not sell me the car then give me $10 off.

Regardless im in FL and I've narrowed my focus down to the Acura TL. The one dealer I visted today had a 08 demo w/nav with 5000 miles on it and wanted 32,475 (which seems to be what everyone is saying should be the going rate for a new one?). I asked him to see what he could do and his response was "Nothing, its 32,475".

So, anyone have any dealerships in FL that I can get some decent quotes from for a new TL w/navigation? In all honesty if I can get a quote for a new one in the 32,000 range I'd be willing to drive to get it, if showing this salesperson that I can get a new one for the same price he basically wants to sell me a used with 5000 miles.

    Thanks in advance :)

You just need to let the dealer know you are serious, and willing to travel or pay shipping to get the right deal. I just bought a base TL for what what I believe to be around $200 over invoice. Edmunds can tell you what invoice is on the car. Deduct $2500 for manufacturer to dealer cash, and offer them 1-200 over this number. This still leaves them with their holdback money and manufacturer credits, as well as help in their market share numbers. If they have put some dealer add ons like trunk tray, all season floor mats, and mud flaps figure they are only worth about 75% of retail. I had to tell my local Acura dealer that I wasn't afraid to pay shipping or travel to buy my tl and no matter where I bought it they would be the one servicing it. They sold me the car. There is a dealership in Kentucky that has base TLs advertised for 28,990 on Auto trader, I'm sure they will make similiar deals on Nav cars, A dealership in St Louis that advertises on ebay told me they would sell a base TL with mud flaps, trunk tray and floor mats for 29,875 out the door. (included doc fee etc) The only thing additional would be sales tax and registration. They will probably make similiar deals on Nav cars. I paid $29,750 (with $400 worth of add ons) plus a 185 doc fee, but it was worth $60 not to have to travel to or ship a car. Just remember they are changing the sheet metal in '09 and the market is flooded with these cars right now, Take competing bids to you local dealer and they will sell you the car at a good price. Good luck.

Wow, the price in FL is much more than in MD. I got my brand new 08 TL with navi in early June. The OTD was about $32,600, which includeded all tax (MD 6%), registration, and fees. My friend got her TL Base for $29,900 OTD from the same dealship a week ago. Compare with her price, I think I payed at least $300 more

I live in Louisiana and have no idea what I can get the TLwith Nav for? I see that people are getting around $33200 OTD on the Type S. I just want a ball park figure of what I should shoot for on the 2008 TL with Nav OTD. Appreciate your advice!

    Zach 10:
I live in Kansas, not Florida. I was just trying to explain to the guy from Florida that these cars are selling cheaper elsewhere than what his dealer wants to do. He should probably contact your dealer to get a price + shipping charge to Florida. It looks like you female friend must have gotten pretty deep into the dealers holdback. I didn't even try. Our sales tax rate is 6.3 % here. Not too bad. Where they gig you in Kansas is personal property tax to tag your vehicle. Have not done this yet, but imagine it will be in the $500 to $600 range.

$33,200 out the door for a Type S???
That's about 2k less than what I can find.
Where did you see this price at?
  • joeolds3joeolds3 Member Posts: 8
I would say 31,600 plus sales tax and whatever it cost to register cars in your state. This works out to around $100 over invoice (slightly less) after you get the mfg to dealer cash knocked off.
  • quickshopquickshop Member Posts: 2
getting a base model for 28k even or lower sounds good. does that include destination and advertising fees? seems like dealers tack on several charges beyond registration and sales tax.

best price quote I've received so far for an '08 TL no nav has been 28,200 in the east bay. i'm guessing they have 2-300 dollars of wiggle room.
  • kingpcgeekkingpcgeek Member Posts: 1,051
Here in PHX lowest I am seeing is invoice - 2500 or $29.451. I would love to get 28k. I would probably get one this week at that price.

Well after getting a different sales person and hunting down quotes over the phone from dealear all across the state, I was able to get them down to $31,446, on a new with nav. Pick it up on monday :D

I am tempted to buy an 08 TL with Nav. A Maryland dealer offered to sell me one for $31,500. Is this a competitive price?

I like the idea of saving money but I fear that when I see the 09 I will lust for one.
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
I would go for a Type S for about 2 K more as you get some useful extras such as better suspension, better tires, Brembo brakes, nicer wheels, a few nicer body trim items, improved seating, and better sounding exhaust plus a few extra ponies for no real decrease in MPG. Rizza in Chicago price was about $33,289 plus delivery and tax and title. You can argue about the DOC fees. They move a lot of cars and are easy to deal with. I bought mine 3 months ago out the door just over $36K which was about 2K below MSRP. Good email sales staff (Chuck and Dale) I felt this was a good deal. I suggest you "splurge". The new 09 TL looks awful in my opinion and is a much larger car (a downside in my view).

Just landed a deal in PA for an 08 TL w/ Navi.

    36 Mo. lease
    12k miles annual
Only put down 1st month's payment of $450 at inception
Honda Financial wavied last 3 payments (Honda Promo) on my current 06 TL & since I was under miles they also will roll them into the new lease. My 06 TL cost me $540 per month.

With 08 Accord EXL-V6 with navi leasing for $420-430 how could you go wrong.
  • xpressxpress Member Posts: 8
Includes destination - add tax and licensing fees only.

I'm thinking the same - Give it to me for 28K flat and we'll do a deal. And it's the end of the month. :)
  • kingpcgeekkingpcgeek Member Posts: 1,051
I would say you got a good deal. The quote I got here was $477 with first month for 36/15k for a non-nav.

anyone think the incentives are going to get ANY better on left over 08 TL Type S?

I do NOT care for the look of the new 09s and I assume I may be able to get out the door for less money on an 08 vs an 09 since they won't deal as much on the 09s when they first come out.

another option is to look for a very low mile used 07 - but most dealers who have them are trying to get almost $30k for them. i found a 2007 TL-S with 10,000 miles and they would not go below 28k. seemed kind aof high when a new 08 will sell for $32k.

$4k off wasn't much given the car is one year used and who knows what the former owner did to it... one year less warranty.. for 6-8k off..maye.. but 4k..i'd just go new.

i also want to get the aspec body kit...think a dealer would put that on at dealer cost if i leased a new one? or will tehy tell me to pound sand? i've seen them for sale online for about $750.... so it's not that expensive...

Folks, I'm looking for a new TL-S and would like to pay around 33-34k OTD, is this realistic?

Also, whats up with the HPT's? I realize its not much of a cost difference but do they increase road noise etc?

Last but not least, what should the A-Spec kit cost for with installation? Is this negotiable?

    Thanks.
  • binnibinni Member Posts: 4
33-34k OTD does not seem likely right now.

I've been shopping around for awhile now and the lowest I've been able to get a quote OTD for is $35,600. -That's $32,500 before tax,lic etc....

Let me know if you've found anything lower!
  • thebinkthebink Member Posts: 10
Just bought a Type-S in MD for about $32,500 which included destination. Thought about waiting for new incentives in July, but financing costs are going up, and wanted a particular interior/exterior color. Very happy with the car!
  • hokieboosthokieboost Member Posts: 2
Wow that seems like a really good price. Which dealership did you go?
Was it Rosenthal Acura? I live in Northern VA area and I want to take that price to Pohanka and get them to match it. Pohanka still seems to have a large selection of TYPE S left.
  • thebinkthebink Member Posts: 10
If you want to post your e-mail, I'll give you all the details. I understand that Rosenthal will beat any written offer by $200, so that should probably be your last stop everything else being equal.
  • hokieboosthokieboost Member Posts: 2
Here is my email address: ULTRASANAI@YAHOO.COM

I appreciate your help. That comes out to about $6500 off MSRP for the TYPE S.
That's a heckuva deal for the magnitude of the car it is.
  • lightwaveslightwaves Member Posts: 3
Are you guys talking about 32500 OTD pricing?
  • thebinkthebink Member Posts: 10
No had to pay tax, tags, etc. Also got a few accessories which I just paid their price on (I didn't mention this as part of the deal though). Figured they needed to make some money.
  • lightwaveslightwaves Member Posts: 3
So the final price of the car excluding extras you picked up is around $35500 OTD, based upon 7% tax, lic and reg fees are normally about 2%. Ca tax is around 8.5% ouch...
  • atopraatopra Member Posts: 9
I am in Richmond, VA and went all the way to Rosenthal in MD. They had the best deal from among all the Acura dealers around Richmond, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Newport news, Alexandria and Arlington.

I am new to the forum but just wanted to let everyone know that the pricing on base TL seems very good in DC area. Bought a TL yesterday for $28k + tax, tag. I am not sure about TL-S. Let me know if you need more information.
  • kingpcgeekkingpcgeek Member Posts: 1,051
How the heck are you people getting these deals? That's about $4000 under invoice. Dealer here is only offering invoice - $2500 dealer cash.

At 28k I could lease one for $420 a month with only first months down.

hi rban, I am new to this forum as well. wow, 28K for a base TL non-navi is a heck of a deal. I live in columbus, ohio and the best price I receive from dealers in ohio is invoice - 2500 which is around 29K. I don't mind going to DC area if I can save almost $1000. Could you please send me the dealer name, salesman, and detail price with all the fees to my email: SUTANTIO@HOTMAIL.COM

    Thanks..

I see Honda has increased MDX incentives by $1000 from today, So the the total is 3500$ for MDX. That is a great news for MDX buyers.

But I don't see anything on TL. Even the existing one on TL for $2500 is not shown at Edmund's website. Is it the website is not updated or Honda has removed the incentives?
  • purchasingsoonpurchasingsoon Member Posts: 74
i spoke w/a sales person on saturday aug 2, and they were still operating under the impression that the incentive was still in place. the current offer to me is 32k for the tl w/nav.
  • zxttfanzxttfan Member Posts: 8
I'm looking at a '08 TL w/Nav as well. Which dealer was this?
  • sethnagasethnaga Member Posts: 50
I went to take delivery after getting the price in writing in the email from him, But at the last minute, the dealer added 600$+ document fee and I walked out. Sorry
  • purchasingsoonpurchasingsoon Member Posts: 74
i'm pretty sure thats the normal document fee. the dealer acquisition fee is the one that is listed on the tmv, and should be inclusive in the price of the vehicle. somebody correct me if i'm wrong.
  • sethnagasethnaga Member Posts: 50
The point is not whether the fee is normal or not. When a dealer sends you an email that says XXX+TTL, it means the XXX includes all fees. I also called the manager and spoke to him and confirmed that XXX includes all fees which he confirmed.

If the manager changes his word/email after you reach the dealership, than it is not professional. If a dealership is professional, they would be upfront in detailing all the fees. No hidden fees.

I leased an 08 TL-base non-navi this past Saturday in NY. The capital cost was $28,390 and monthly payment is $342.99. Total out of pocket was $2095.45, which included 8% sales tax, $595 acquisition fee, registration fee and first month payment. I am loving the TL.
