    Spark,

At $27,500 + TTL is a steal. No dealer came close to that. The best offer I received was $28,400. Where in VA do you live? When did you buy the car and receive this quote? I live in Arlington.

    I live in MD.
I just got 08TL with navi (black/taupe) at pohanka acura.
Rosenthal acura in MD can`t beat pohanka`s quote.

Hi aznboy, was this quote for special APR financing or without it.

I was quoted $32,500 for a TL Type S from Jeff at Tustin Acura
I was quoted $32,300 for a Type S by Rich at Planet Acura in Buena Park
I was quoted $32,300 for a Type S by Paul at Cerritos Acura.

in the end, i got disgusted wtih all th games some of the dealers played. i literally knew that some of them were lying about what colors they had on the dealership when i would call. one dealer called aying he had the color i wanted. ten miutes later another dealer called saying he had it, i told him the other guy also had it, he says "no he doesn't b/c he's calling me trying to trade for it". i call the first guy back and he says "the one you wanted just got sold i'm so sorry, but i have another color".

i had one dealer call me. i would not asnwer. 5 min later another dealer I had been working with in another zip code area calls me. this happened REPEATEDLY..as if they were all talking and trying to figure out what i was goin to do. i sweat i think they started tryingj to work on me as a group....

i ened up deciding to buy a totally different car.

the TL-S is nice but in the end for me i was settling. it's not the car i really wanted. it's pretty nice, but nothign special. the more i look at them on the raod the more I think they look outdated and when teh new TL hits teh streets. as much as I tink that car if fugly, the current TL will become even more dated looking.

good luck busting these guys balls to get a good deal. from the quotes above - you can get a much better deal than the nonsense they claim when you wlak on the lot or when you first contact them via the internet. my first offer was 33,300. i was able to knock $1000 off of that with about a day and half of phone calls.

in the end i didn't buy it. maybe my info will help some of you. good luck.

car dealers are the lowest form of life...

I should add - the guy Jeff at Tustin was NOT a prick. He was nice aned very pleasant to deal with. The guys at Cerritos were pushy.

I am looking to buy a 08 TL base model. One of the dealers quoted me the following price:

    TL base
$31200 (including destination charge, excluding TTL)

    I have two options;
    1. 0.9% loan + 1000 cash back
    2. no loan + 2500 cash back

however cash back is applied after the tax.

Does that sound a fair deal given the 09 is just around corner? Thanks
  • aznboyaznboy Member Posts: 9
I assume its without as he didnt give me an apr. I didnt get that far in talking with him as I'm not able to purchase it until the new incentives come out anyway
  • lena8lena8 Member Posts: 9
Can you tell me your MSRP please for this base?

I got offer 29,300( no loan) but the MSRP is 34,440( base)+protect package (795)
I live in NC , and they don't want to work anymore on this.Do you think I can get better with this price. or should I wait after Sep 2 deal.
  • 2ndacura2ndacura Member Posts: 10
MSRP is 34,440 like you said. Without the loan, you can take addition $2500 off the $31200 they quoted me (after tax is applied) , so roughly it will be 28700+ if you dont take the loan. I got the quote without any hassle through Edmunds.com within 30 min after the request was sent out. We took a look the TL yesterday, The sales people there are extremely nice. I decided to take the chance waiting for the new incentive which is coming out tomorrow. In fact all the quotes I have are within +/- $500. We are in Chicago area.

    Alright folks, here's my situation...

After reading the posts here and at acurazine, I headed into the dealer this past weekend, and the best they would quote me was $35,600 for an 08 TL-S. In reading other posts, I noticed folks getting deals anywhere between $33,100 and $34,500.

What posters haven't always been clear about is whether or not they took the financing or a $2K incentive. With the 0.9% that ends today (incidentally, I've decided to wait it out and see what the next round of incentives brings...hopefully there is one), it really doesn't make sense for anyone to NOT take the financing unless they're paying cash straight up, or if they can't qualify for the 0.9%.

So I'm wondering...is my deal on the level? or am I encountering a stubborn salesperson? Am I to read everyone else's deal as if they took the cash back vice the financing rate?

One other complicating factor in this is that I live in Albuquerque. There is only one dealership in the entire state, so I don't have the luxury of pitting multiple dealerships against each other. The selection right now is fairly slim (just two black/black TL-Ss, though I'm open to getting a non-S if the former doesn't work out).

As one last note, I'm also looking at a G35X, and the best I could get from them was $36,600. The Infiniti folks at least seem interested...the salesman there has called me back a couple of times, but without any better offers. I had to offer my phone number to the Acura salesman...he didn't even want my number to try and call me back at a later date if he were to reconsider his offer.

Please help...I'm interested to hear from others.

julio, I got a quote for a TL-S at $32,650 in central NJ. So if your dealer is only quoting you $35,600 walk away. My quote was to lease the car. But I dont' see them raising the price that much just because there is a financing incentive. Just sit tight and wait. I went to the dealership Yesterday and it was totally empty. There are lots of inventory left. I decided to wait until the end of Sept to see what incentives they are giving towards the end of the month.

    Happy hunting
  • acehawkacehawk Member Posts: 22
Incentive seems to be the same as last month.

Hi, I just check on edmunds.com.. Market supports was gone at this moment.
I don't know that it will come back on the board or not...Any ideas? I will wait and see.

Talked to the dealer yesterday- he expected incentives on the '08 TL to basically go away as they quit production on the '08 a couple of months ago, only have a few on the lot, and don't need that much effort to move them.

Noticed the Acura website today says "There are no current offers on the TL" under the "Current Offers" tab. Looks like August was probably the best month to get a great deal. We'll see if that changes. However, the dealers aren't getting any more '08 TL shipments - what they have is all they'll get. The '09's are already coming in.
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
Acura had the 2500 twice this year and also last year. Since the 09s are now out I suspect there are not too many 08 remaining (08s are better car in my view). Acura may or may not provide something to clean out the remaining 08s. You probably should not have waited as 2500 was a good deal on an Acura.
  • aznboyaznboy Member Posts: 9
Damn that sucks...with car sales down and all...I would expect at least something to come out to incent people to buy. Just don't want to shell out another $2,500 when I know it couldve been $2,500 cheaper. Anyone else have any input?
  • thebinkthebink Member Posts: 10
I have been following the incentives for about 6 months, and there's always a dead period a couple of days after incentives expire. My guess is that they will come back in a couple of days but stay at the same level.
  • rmn2rmn2 Member Posts: 2
I agree that the incentives will probably come back within a few days...unless inventories nationwide are low. It's all supply and demand, and if you panic, you will pay more because they know you want it more.

The best price I have seen posted is $27,500 for a base TL (supposedly from MD). The best price I have personally been offered is $28,206 (base TL) from SoCal. My local (Reno, NV) dealer said no way they could come close to $28.2, so they think it's either a bait and switch or I should take it.

Wasn't in the market for an S-Type, but I found a Certified '07 S-Type with 4600 miles (dealer car) for $29k...thoughts?
(add tax, doc, and lic fees to all prices).

  • hoopla1991hoopla1991 Member Posts: 10
Yeah - right now the Nissan website says "we are currently updating this page with our September offers" so maybe Acura will still be changing theirs. Problem is there are only so many '08 TL's left and fewer to choose from as each day goes by...you can sit around and wait to see if there will be additional incentives, only to find the color/model you are waiting for is no longer available...
  • scojayscojay Member Posts: 8
The $2500 rebate will return and remain until 08 inventory is depleted. They will also do a promotion?? for 09 inventory during the launch.
  • rjorge3rjorge3 Member Posts: 144
I just checked some reports that came out today and the sales accross the board are dismal to say the least. Acura sales are down 17%. TL sales are down 23% month to date and 23% year to date. Their only bright spot is the TSX and that is due to the shift of consumer to more fuel effecient cars. So sit tight. I know that they will not be making more 08 TLs, but they will not be flying off the shelves either. If you have the patience, end of this month should be a good time to buy, heck, I dare to say that there will be some nice invetory of 08 left until xmas.

If you are flexible with your color choices you will be rewarded with great prices. Trust me, I want to get my TL-S "yesterday" already, but I am sitting down until I get my lease pmt at $425-430

    Hi,

Picked up our 08 TL for 28,200+TTL with splash guards, cargo net, trunk tray, wheel locks included at Marin Acura. This was the cash price but it was by far the BEST price I got.

Actually, looks like the cash rebates are now $1000 and $3500.
  • julio2815julio2815 Member Posts: 4
    Hi All,

I'm coming to the conclusion that I'm seeing a limit to the bottom prices that dealers are offering. I posted a few days ago basically asking if peoples' prices were with or without the financing, as that would affect the final sales price.

Since the dealers can't combine the special financing with any cash-to-dealer incentives, folks can either opt for 0.9% or take the money (assuming the dealer offers it :) ). The best offer I got was $35,600 for a TL-S.

Prior to this weekend, the best deals I saw were $33,100 and $33,200. That would be $2,500 below my offer, which is what the cash incentive was prior to 3 Sep.

Nickatnite posts above that he got $28,200 for a TL w/o Navi. Taking off $4K for the step down from TL-S to base w/o Navi, and subtracting off the extra $1K from the new incentive ($3,500 total), brings my quote in line with what Nickatnite received.

Moreover, I've received three or four internet quotes for around $33,200 (prior to the 3 Sep increase in cash incentive...I think I could talk them down to $32,200 now). Without any haggling there, I'm immediately seeing what I think would be the floor price. Is there room to haggle on an internet quote? So far I haven't, as I think I'm coming to the realization that I'm seeing the best prices that I can get.

My point is: I think I'm seeing a definite floor to prices (~$28,200 for base non-navi, then add $2K for navi and $2K more for TL-S). Again, these numbers are all WITHOUT the financing offers.

Would anyone agree with this "analysis?"

Just bought it. Black/black, showroom car, 7 miles. Other dealer had the same car but it had been sitting outside, very dirty, and even the rotors were rusty. Grandson that was along said this one also had different wheels that he liked better. It has Michelin tires. Price was 33.5K WITH the 2.9 financing. Since I am retired, I need the financing. I hope all you guys keep working and paying my social security since that is what makes the payment. Trade-in car was my spotless 2000 TL with nav and 70,800 miles. This dealer offered $6700, $200 more than the other dealer for the trade. We didn't trade it and instead sold it to grand daughter for that value. The loss of the trade did not change the price we had to pay.
Have already put Zaino on it except for the clay treatment. What a beautiful car.

rvator4 Congrats: I promise to work extra hard to keep social security solvent until I retire, then your Grandson have to take over.

I got a quote for 32,740 OTD w/ Navi. What do you guys think?
  • 2ndacura2ndacura Member Posts: 10
that is lower than the BEST quote I got for a TL w/o Nav in Illinois. The dealer has since backed away from that quote after labor day citing the incentives has changed... when did you get your quote?
  • aznboyaznboy Member Posts: 9
from new york. Incentives since labor day have increased by 1,000. Originally they gave me 33,740 but now they offered it for 1000 lower

I purchased my 2008TL at the end of March and it has been a great car! I was hesitant at the time to wait for the 2009 to hit the streets, and knowing that the body style was changing sort of made me double think the car while I was shopping around. I was really close to buying the top of the line Honda Accord, but the truth is that the Honda Accord simply wasn't as nice as the 2008 TL, even though the TL's style is many years old.

I ended up getting I think $2000 or $2500 cash back since that incentive was better in the long run against taking the low interest rate incentive. If I remember correctly I paid just under $34K OTD with all-season mats, and wheel locks. I was happy to pay this price since I knew prices weren't going to budge that much, and I have been driving this car for almost 6 months. At that time, that was about the going price, and I competition shopped as far as I could reach locally a few close states. The only place where it was selling for maybe $200 to $500 less was on the west coast, and I am east coast so I couldn't really use that to my advantage. Most dealers were sticking to their guns and I found one that would give it to me for the price I wanted to pay, and luckily it ended up being the dealer in my home town where oil changes are free, loaner car is free, they wash the car every time, and some other random stuff which is a nice add on.

When I finally saw the pictures of the 2009, I thought it looked cool, but was definitely not the car I would be buying if I was still shopping. Something about it just doesn't show through in the Acura style I have come to love since the Acura Legend days.

So anyone on the fence about buying a 2008 TL, if you can still find an incentive to make the price right, you will not be disappointed. I felt almost no buyer's remorse when I got it, and now that I've seen the 2009 it backs up my reasoning for buying this style instead of the new.

New, Old, All TL's rock! :)

Purchasing a 2008 TL w/navigation, and protection package for $30,675. Taxes and tag extra. To my amazement, some dealers wanted to sell me the same car for $3,000 to $4,000 more. Can anyone tell me if dealers are receiving more cash back from Acura since Labor Day? If so, then I'll request more off the price. I'm picking up the car on Wednesday.

Greetings to all, I've decided to take the plunge and buy a TL. either the S or the standard, either with NAV. Question I have (I'm in Virginia Beach VA) is the pricing. I've looked on Edmunds for the TMV and it seems very high. The MSRP is 36,985 for the TL and 38,985 for the S model. Can I add the 2.9 financing with the rebate. And what is the rebate after september 2? is it 3,500? I'm trying to get a without TTL and processing fee so I can compare. Oh, does the S really ride that much rougher? I'm older (54) and like a nice comfortable ride, with a little spirit thrown in. I had my time at the track as a young man.

(Should I travel to Richmond to get a better deal?)

Thanks! I thoroughly enjoy reading these forums and will continue once I get the car.

Forget about Richmond. I live in Richmond and went all the way to MD to get the best price. My next best price was from Newport News. Go to autotrader and request for quotes from all the dealers around you. Crown in Richmond will not show up.

I purchased a 08 Type S with the standard all season tires (I am 64) and I don't find the ride harsh. The seats actually have a bit more bolstering and padding than the standard TL. I think the S is worth the difference in price if you are going to get NAV. I was going to get the standard TL but like the S much more and so far I am happy with the car.

    Hello everyone,

Thank you all for helping me buy my '08 TL for a good price. Here are the details:

$28,700 (No TTL, but includes Delivery & Admin fees)
    Base TL (No Nav)
    Polished Metal, Black Interior
$450 in accessories (Trunk tray, wheel locks, all-season floor mats, mudguards)
Bought it Friday 09/05/08 during $3500 incentives (Paid cash, did not use financing)
    LIFETIME oil changes
Jay Wolfe Acura - Kansas City, MO

I know there are better deals in cities nearby (STL, Chicago) but KCMO was easier and I really like the lifetime oil changes as I keep my cars for 8-10 years.

    I LOVE THIS CAR!

P.S. Oh yeah, I got a free Acura hat too. ;)

Did you drive both before buying? do you find the S more sporty? I'm weighing the differences between cost and value. I know this is a subjective question, but information is a valuable thing.

    Thanks,

As far as fees...this is how I negotiate price:

I tell the salesperson to give me the best price they can INCLUDING any and all fees the dealership feels they have to charge (except for TTL). I tell the salesperson if the number they come back with is acceptable, I'll buy right there and then. If not, I'll look elsewhere. This way there are no bs surprises at signing about documentation/advertising/ADM/ fees, etc. I normally aim for about $500 above dealer cost. YMMV

When you say you bought your TL Type S for $34K OTD did it include the local sales tax and all the dealer fees and tag tranfer fees???

    Thanks for your response

Can anybody provide us with information with respect to the best prices OTD or not including sales tax that they have paid for the 2008 TL Type S that currently has an incentive of $3,500 and extra $1,000 till th end of the month???

Gang, one thing that I see a lot in this forum is sometimes the lack of information that we provide to each other in terms of all the cost that we will incur or have incurred when we buy or lease our cars. Lets all be more specific so that we can go with more ammunition to make our deals. For instance; if you leased or are receiving a quote please provide:

    *MSRP
*Cap cost (negotiated price of the car)
    *term (months)
    *Miles: 10k; 12K; 15k; 20k
    *the residual
*Down payment (cap cost reduction) which is independent of fees
    *Taxes and your state
*Itemize how much you paid for your DMV, Bank fees, Document fees and any other fees (detail them, dont lump them together)
    *Money Factor

And if you are buying just let us know the details as well, dont just say "out the door" itemize the cost of the car, the taxes you paid and any other cost associated with your purchase.

I know, I know, it will be a little bit more typing (copy and paste it if you have to answer your question more than one time :>)

    I am still waiting to pull the trigger on my Type-S, but the money factor now sucks: Here is the latest offer I received in NY (I will be registering the car in NJ) on the first week of Sept;

Type-S; Silver, Carbon or White exterior (Hey I am flexible!); Ebony/Silver int
36 month lease; 10k per year; no money down
    MSRP 38,950
Negotiated price of car (cap cost) $33,137
    Money Factor I was offered 0.00270 (6.48% ouch! and I am tier 1);
    monthly pmts $500.34 + NJ taxes $35.14 (7%)= $537.16
$595 acq fee; $380 DMV fee(no way I am paying that much for DMV fees); 120 Doc fee; 8.75 Tire fee and first month payment of $537.16. So, with $1,640.91 drive off.

I am also waiting to pull the trigger on my TL-S, but not at these money factors.
  • smlull163smlull163 Member Posts: 15
Been looking for awhile. Wanted some ideas or comparisons

MSRP 37,238 (has pinstripe and glass etching)
    Car Price 32,950
    TTL 1524.55
I'm coming in with 6500 down. Dealership says because they gave a decent discount, they'll finance at 5.9 or I can go to my own bank and do 5.25.
