Here are the price quotes I got.. Its weird, but they are different for each person even at the same dealership, this is crazy

@nosmoking1, do you know who the sales rep. was at Pauly that you dealt with?

@needfordeals, what was the sales guy name at woodfield that you bought? I spoke with some guy called Peter ...

Here are the quotes I got, including dest.

    Woodfield - 30,390

    Pauly - 30,490

    Rizza - 30,200

These do not include any extras whatsoever.

In the best case scenario, I suspect that Acura will continue with the current incentives ($3500 rebate AND 0.9/2.9% APR) for October...
  • raj_acuraraj_acura Member Posts: 8
I spoke to Rizza again and they were able to bring down the price to 29,950. I wish they keep the offer open until atleast the end of october. I got a great deal in Indy, Indiana for 29k even, but too bad I can't go there now. Its already late today and I dont know if Acura would extend the offer to next month.

Mine is 8 weeks old and has the same problem on the driver side seat and headrest. I thought it was from getting soaked when I opened the door in a big rain storm.

Can anyone let me know the OTD price they paid for a Type S in the St. Louis area? I have an internet quote from Frank Leta for 33,610 (not including their protection package for another $399). I have no idea if the quote will still even be honored as I received it on Sep. 25. I don't think there are too many TL Type S left in STL, but I don't know. Anyone?
  • vanbuyervanbuyer Member Posts: 33
I picked one up today for $29,503 which includes the destination charge with .9% financing.
  • metalblazemetalblaze Member Posts: 40
Actually..on the contrary, Acura website is not longer showing the special APR offer on the 2008 TLs....So, I guess its all gone!!
  • kyfdxkyfdx Moderator Posts: 267,274
Those special offers always disappear from the website on the first day of the month...

Give it a couple of days, and see what comes back..

i certainly hope acura keeps the $3500 off or guess ill be purchasing another vehicles with some better incentives... :);)
  • metalblazemetalblaze Member Posts: 40
Assuming that $33610 is your OTD, I think its a pretty good deal. My 2 euros.
  • metalblazemetalblaze Member Posts: 40
I actually got an email from my local dealer few minutes ago stating that the incentives will carry over for the month of October....thats good news for potential buyers :shades:
  • rjorge3rjorge3 Member Posts: 144
Any news about the October lease rates, money factor and residuals on the leftovers 08s? My guess is that they will remain the same, but do share if you guys hear otherwise.
  • skeptic5skeptic5 Member Posts: 12
    I picked up a 2008TL yesterday.
Exhaust smells funny. Salesman says it happens with all the new cars...new paint
burning off a pipe or some such strange explanation.
    Did anybody esle smell this?
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
the exhaust on new cars usually smells like eggs or that smell when ladies get a perm...you will smell that for a few hundred miles usually....

if it continues after like 1000 miles bring it in for service...

    hope that helps

I spoke to one dealer and got an email another one. It seems the financing incentives have carried over but since it is the beginning of the month the dealers are not hungry yet so they are not hounding!

I am coming off a Mazda 6 lease this month. Going to a private launch of '09 6 tomorrow with at least $1500 incentives before any Private launch $$. The 6 has more HP, room, 6 speed, 18" wheels, Push Button Start and looks sharp (Also offers HIDS, dual climate
Do you guys think this is a fair comparison. I am going to test drive both and see. I did enjoy the handling of my 04 6 these past 4 years with no problems (definitely underpowered though). My biggest fear - 1ST MODEL YEAR but with TL - Last Model Year!

Anybody think 29K out the door in NJ for the TL Base is doable? At 7% tax that would mean 27000 with destination + title fees?
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
Im not a fan of mazda cars, i think Honda products, acura etc you will be much better off with . And your resale would be much better, Honda vehicles always sell well and hold there value great...Just my opinion. ;)
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
just got this email from a dealer....

just an FYI. Program has been extended until 11/3/2008

Cash back and APR can be used too.

    Thanks whit5.
    That's reassuring.
That's probably all it is. New pipe smell:)

I have an 08 Type S and on pickup I noticed some "puckering" at the front corners of the seats. Not all cars had this but mine did. The dealer was not interested in swaping the seats (S are slightly different in bolstering and are two color). Not seeing a lot of wear yet but it is slightly more pronounced now. Not really seeing a lot of new wrinkles just the existing are a bit more obvious. I think leather stretchs a bit with age hence one should probably expect wrinkles over time. Sliding across the wrinkles creats extra friction hence extra wear.

I plan to use a leather treatment periodically to manage the issue. This is the reason I perfer cloth to leather but that was not an option with the TL and I wanted the "big" motor and sport suspension so I caved on the leather issue.

    regards
  • whit5whit5 Member Posts: 65
    hi,
best way to prevent those seat wrinkles, get yourself a seat cushion or seat covers for drivers side and yes use leather protector also..ive used a seat cover on all my cars on the drivers side and my seat always looked like new even after 5 yrs...they work !! especially for leather seats !

    hope that helps

    Hi,

I would recommend a protectant and cleaner like Lexol for your leather seats and I wouldn't worry too much about the puckering, unless there is a defect that you can clearly see. The leather seating tends to wrinkle, pucker and hopefully soften over time with proper care and treatment. Enjoy your new ride!!!!

Just wanted to share my price with the forum, since I was able to use the information I read here to get a better deal.

2008 Blue TL with parchment interior. Mud gaurds, wheel locks, trunk liner included. 10 miles on the odometer.

$28,391.28 negotiated price (with the $3500 cash back)
$30, 287 OTD including 6% MI sales tax.

Also got the .9% financing. The $30,000 OTD price was what I was shooting for, but they came close enough. I know a few people said that they negotiated a price of $27,500, but I couldn't get the dealer to even acknowledge that price! I was close to my mark, so I was happy with this deal.

Great car so far. Very tight and quiet. I live in Michigan, so I am a bit concerned with the standard tires. From what I have read the Michelin Pilot HX MXM4s are not good in winter driving.

Anyway, wanted to share my purchase.

Congratulations on your purchase. Did you get the TL w/ NAV or base TL?
  • lexani18zzlexani18zz Member Posts: 13
Im picking up my 08 TL tonight. I got the price to 28,950 OTD With Tags/Tax included (base model) White/Preachment. Or With navi for $31,350 OTD, im trying to get it down to $30,500 OTD. Well see what they say, regardless ill be in the Acura by tonight. You guys need to call every dealer in 75mile radius and tell them a lower price then another, till you reach a price where the dealer says sorry its to low.
  • njspikernjspiker Member Posts: 18
that is a great deal! which state are you in? can you get us a breakdown on your price? good luck tonight and please keep us posted! many thanks!
  • lexani18zzlexani18zz Member Posts: 13
Sure Thing, Im from Philadelphia, but the dealer which matched my price is from Delaware right across the bridge. But PA/DE dealer's are both giving me the same price, where going to see which dealer will move few hundred more on the TL with Navi.

    2008 Acura TL Base
    Sale Price: $27990
    Tax/Tags: $960
    OTD Price: $28,950
    Financing Putting Down 15K

If i want Navigation add $2400 to above OTD Price, But im trying to get them to cut it to 30,500 OTD which is $850 lower then what they want.
  • drosadrosa Member Posts: 24
    hey lexani
Do you have a trade in?
I took out the old Abacus and the TAX in PA is 6% and 27990 X .06 is $1679. So I figure you have a trade in that is making your tax base much less than 27990? Or am I missing somethin ?
  • cobexuecobexue Member Posts: 7
Hello. Could you tell me which dealer you got to? I am also in Philly. Also how do you make you Tax/Tags that low? Isn't it 6% in Philly?
  • deuces74deuces74 Member Posts: 11
lexani18zz: I'm also from the PA/NJ/DE area and shopping around for the 2008 TL-S. What is the best price quote you got from your dealers on the Type-S? Thnks!
  • tlpomitlpomi Member Posts: 1
Pick up 2008 TL base model for $27106, include Destination Charges, 1st Oil Change, wheel locks, and splash guards. Got it from Sierra Acura of Alhambra, CA. I did $0 down with 0.9%. I don't have the exact OTD, but it was around $29600.
  • fsudreyerfsudreyer Member Posts: 28
Has anyone gotten sub 27,500 prices on the base model TL in the South Florida Area. I have seen great prices in other parts but no posts here in the South Florida area. Thanks, :)

lexani18zz, why not go for a short ride s/bound on AC exp to G/State Pky 1st exit to Boardwalk Acura located on Tilton Road I just purchase a 08 TL w/nav, matching color mud guards, matching color door edge guards, wheel locks, and painted pin stripe for $29,992. I was treated like a king by business manager. I've bought many cars in the past 44 years, and my experience at Boardwalk was without a doubt the best. I also had my 06 Accord as a trade. Most dealers are probably getting short on inventory. I think Boardwalk had approximately 9 or 10 TL's left.

can someone please give me some advice. i leased a 08 accord exl v6. absoutely hate it. problem is i rolled about 5800 negativity in from a 06 mustang GT LEMON.
well anyway wife just leased a 08 tl. i went to the same dealer to see if he can do anyhting for me on a 08 tl. this is what he came up with. i owe 30k pay off on the accord. they will give me 23k therefore rolling 7k negativity into the TL. I would need to put down 4k and my payments would be 529 a month for a 48/10k miles lease. i am pretty sure the selling price is 34k ( with the negativity) for the new tl. without the negativity 27k.
can someone please give me advice if the dealer is giving me a good deal or trying to pull a fast one. i hate to get in deeper but really want out of the accord.
i can be emailed at davidroscomcast.net any help is GREATLY appreciated before i pull the trigger on this...

Out of curiosity, what do hate so much about the 2008 Honda EXL V6 that you can't live with and therefore are willing to take such a loss?

2008stype: May I ask how much you paid for your Type-S?? What part of the country are you from. I am looking for the best possible deal in the Tri-state Philly area for a Type-S. Thanks!

    Mike,

Thanks for the tip. I was wondering what product to use. A co-worker has an older M-5 and was using a product called Hide Food. This seemed to work for him. So far the S is great. Getting the same MPG as my 01 Accord V-6, 86 more HP for the cost of premium.

  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
The transmission issue is old news. TL had a bad washer in the 01-02 which caused about a 5% failure rate. This was solved years ago and Honda made good on the bad trannies. My 01 Accord V-6 got a 73 month 70K mile extended warantee by Honda (I had no problems).
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
I bought my S about 5 months ago when they had the 2500 off. I bought mine from Rizza Acura in Chicago (southern burbs). I paid a bit over 36K out the door complete (including sales tax and Illinois title transfer). I got mudflaps and no DOC fee included. Chicago has a 1/2 % additional sale tax and an $100/car fee as well. Rizza has a good web sales staff and they seem to move a lot of cars so it might be worth your while to send them an email.. I worked with Chuck. Dale this the other half of the internet sales team. If your buying for out of state I believe you still will have to pay IL sales tax, if it less than your home state you will pay the difference upon registration, if it is less your stuck for the difference.

I think the S is a much better car that the "std" TL so I recommend spending the extra $.

Thanks in part to some discussion here and in the TSX forum, I purchased a used 2008 TL Type-S 6MT with 12K miles a couple of weeks ago for $28,900 from a Toyota dealership in Texas that had taken it in on a trade. The previous owner (and dealer) left the original owner's Aug 2007, $39K+ receipt in the owner's manual. The previous owner also left all of their phone numbers, etc. in the Nav system's memory. (Let this be a lesson to all of you when you sell your car later!)

Carmax had several 2007 and 2008 Type-S 6MT's for around $32K. (They have a blue 2007 with 18K miles in Raleigh right now which they've only recently reduced to $28,998. On Aug 31, they were asking $31,599 for this exact car.) The 6MT was practically impossible to find new from any Acura dealer nationwide last month. Even a used one was hard to find -- especially in silver or carbon bronze.

Getting 31 MPG Hwy and 21 MPG City. The most helpful search engine for my search was probably oogle.com, though I used several others, too.

hey my tax is 3.5% im a DE resident, i can ask about a Type S
  • mudshark405mudshark405 Member Posts: 1
Purchased a '08 TL-S a couple weeks ago for $33K (OTD was $36K here in LA county w/ 8.25% sales tax). That was the best price I could find in the LA/OC area and so, with inventories getting lower, I pulled the trigger. Silver with silver/ebony interior. They threw in floor mats but wouldn't budge on mud guards or wheel locks.
  • 2008stype2008stype Member Posts: 41
Hey the same car as mine. I paid a few hundred more in Chicago area 4 months ago but that was only with the $2500 deal. Amazingly I have gotten quite a few comments on the wheels from "non car types". How do you like the car? I am happy but dissappointed on a few minor issues: console does not have space for CD cases, no rain gutters so when you open the door in the rain the water runs down all over the inside door panel, not possible to tie down the trunk lid as the interior is fully finished. I would like the motor to be better finished (like my old 01 V-6 Accord) instead of covered with plastic panels (the motor looks like an appliance if the panels are removed - I tried that). Performance, handling, and MPG are great so enjoy! Glad I did not wait for the 09 as I don't care for either the looks or the increase in size and weight.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum!

So I just picked up my 08 TL base last night in Brighton, MA.

$28000 including remote starter, excluding tax and other fees...
got $14000 for my trade (07 honda civic ex w/ 28k).
Didn't realize that I could've gotten more for the trade until I did some more research today!! ARGHHH, I was too impatient!
  • rekcalsarekcalsa Member Posts: 10
I was considering getting the remote starter installed in my TL-S, but don't have the time right now to drop off my car for an entire day. Does it require a separate remote to carry around or do they have keys that integrate that feature into a lock/unlock key? Any problems with it?
