The deal was orginally 27900 and i made them throw in the remote starter for $100. I'm not sure if it requires a separate remote or you could just use the lock button... I've heard two different versions.
anyways, what do you guys think about this deal? Should I have gotten more for the trade?
It seems to me that there are too many posts that can't be used for comparison. Some people don't mention any dealer installed options or whether they financed or what the exact model and miles of their trade-in. Also, TTL varies by state so is it relevant to even mention? Just my two cents worth...
BTW, do you mind telling where you saw this pricing? Good luck!
I meant which location/zipcode.....
Looks like you got a great car at excellent savings. The hosts of this forum have mentioned in prior posts how one should separate out the cost of individual items so we can all make comparisons, but alas it is what it is.
I'm very happy with my TL-S, the only 3 "very minor" complaints I have is that the XM radio quality and reception in CT in my vehicle is sporadic, goes out when traveling under an overpass (not tunnel) - compared to CD, sonically it can't hold water - love the selection, but sound quality and reliability is absent.
The fuel gauge must be based on procrastinators, as the fuel low light comes on at approximately 12.4 gallons, when there should be another 4.7 gallons in the tank - I wish it would give me a warning at 14 to 15 gallons.
The last complaint is that the michelin all season pilot tires just don't cut it - not that great in the rain and I will use the wife's Rav 4 with 4WD in winter to commute as these tires surely won't keep one on the road in snowy conditions (confirmed by Consumer Reports).
Silverbullettl - enjoy your car!!!

I just have to say I did a lot of shopping around and found the experience at Acura of Thousand Oaks to be wonderful.
They have only been open for a few months.
I have purchased a few Acura’s in my time all from the internet.
They have a new General Sales Manager there that use to be at Santa Monica.
We purchased our car from him a few years ago because he was a straight shooter.
The selection is good and everyone in the dealership was helpful and courteous.
We paid just under 30K plus ttl including mudguards wheel locks and trunk tray.
We considered the 2009 TL but there does not seem to be much wiggle room yet however he did tell me that he would do something off the sticker but is was by no means compared to the discount on the 08.
They wanted $33,000 OTD for base w/ Navi, no accessories. I declined.
It's the Hopkins Accura at Redwood City, CA.
I suggest posting and asking for the bottom line cash price (including dealer add ons), but before sales tax . That's the only way to compare apples to apples, unless you are really into other fruits and useless comparisons. And if you are old enough to drive, but didn't learn decimal multiplication by the 4th grade, move to Delaware and you'll still be fine
In full agreement with habitat1 when he suggests that members of this forum inform the OTD as the price paid or quoted with all the fees... but before the sales tax.
I have been told that due to the current financial situation and the unfortunate timing for the release into the marketplace of the new 2009 TL they would be offering a some kind of manufacturer's marketing asistance... anybody heard about this???
Thanks
I've posted before that all we need to do is post the price of the car you are getting or already bought (cap cost in case of a lease) and that will help us, potential buyers, much better that that OTD crap. Also the details of the deal in case that you got goodies (mud flaps, mats, wheel locks, etc).
Anyways, let me go back to look what Apple is doing today to see if I can afford the car again...damm market!

Working with the dealer he agreed on $8,000 for my 03 VW Jetta with 90k miles, which they originally offered $5,500. I asked for $8,000 because Edumnds.com has that as the trade-in value.
After 3hrs the dealer dropped the price to $27k from $28k and agreed to $8k for the Jetta. Explained that he was giving a "great price" for my Jetta. Funny how that is the same price as edmunds this is a "great price."
I feel that they can come off the 28k original price and apply the $8k for the Jetta. These figures don’t include taxes or fees, anyone with insight?
I am looking to get a TL Type-S and was wondering if anyone had purchased one in the Chicago area recently. Would appreciate if you could share information on the price and the dealership.
Also -can the $3,500 rebate be combined with the 36 month 0.9% APR financing?
Thanks!
Even with the market being up yesterday, people are not buying cars right now and it will get worse by the end of the year for the dealers.
Unfortunately, the current market conditions also mean that dealers aren't willing to give much in trade in. And Edmund's prices probably don't reflect that. My Acura dealer in western PA offered me a spectacular deal on a new 2008 MDX Sport ($38,500 price on a MSRP of over $45k). But then only offered us $15k on our 2005 which, according to Edmunds, should be worth $21k+. They weren't trying to screw us, as the price on the new MDX was fantastic - it's just that used prices have suffered as well. Frankly, a 6 year old 90k mile VW isn't exactly a sexy trade and they may be planning on having to send it to auction.
My recommendation is that you first negotiate a good cash price on the TL. And then, if you don't like the trade-in they offer, sell your VW privately. But going back and forth on two negotiations simultaneously is playing into the hands of the dealer. And I also recommend that, if they don't get MUCH more realistic on the price of the used 07, you shop around for a new 08. The deals are out there.

people posting brand new 2008 base TL for around $28,000, some posted even less then that.
Plus you can get much better financing on the new model. I think 0.9% -36 or 2.9%- 60 month.
Check out incentives and rebates on the new cars section. And you can combine this with $3500 cash back
I just priced @ 29.3K one in on carsdirect.com in zipcode 44016 (Cleveland Heights area...use to live there while back).
As far as VW goes get a REAL value by posting on
real world trade in values board here on edmunds..
Then advertise it on craiglist
my two cents
Did call another and spoke to someone that I have delt with in the past. He said that his mgr would work with me when I came in. Might check it out this weekend.
Where did you hear your info? I have been checking around and have not heard anything as of yet.
Acura is providing $2,500 dealer cash on the '08 TL right now though.

There's a dealer in Baltimore advertising $28K for the base TL.
Add $2300 for navi and back up camera.
Search "2008 Acura TL" on Ebay.
Frankel Acura; Cockeysville MD
FWIW....or use this as a negotiating tool with you preferred dealer.
i tried both esserman and phil smith for a 08 tl with navi, esserman said if someone is offering me a navi unit at 29k to not walk but RUN to get it. they said there is no way they can even touch 29k!! phil smith wouldnt touch 29 k either!!!
Strange that one dealer told me they haven't sold one yet and another told me that they are a hot item? Then again, I am talking to a dealership.
If so, just slightly open another window -- it will go away.
If not, I don't know...good luck.
