trading my 03 types for a new TL. Not sure if I should purchase an 04 or wait
for 05 model. I cannot foresee many changes or additions except maybe a few more
color choices and a higher price. The dealer has an 04 Anthracite with ebony interior
and Nav being built on the 23rd of July. I know if I wait my trade in will be worth
less. Thanks in advance for any input.
Thanks.
My suggestion is go to the internet and check out Houston, Austin, and Oky City. If the dealers in DFW don't want to deal, move on to another town. A flight via Southwest isn't bad and it's a good way to break in the o4:-)
increase on th 05 TL?
Another thing, dealerships will give you a BETTER deal if you finance with them instead of bringing them a check. They DON'T MAKE as much MONEY when you don't finance with them.
Another thing, a bank won't give you a car loan without the VIN (you can't just get a check).
Also, try hitting the enter key once in a while. Paragraphs are our friends!
I dont know how it is in the mid west but here in the northeast. I know I can get a tl with nav for invoice. When I first went to buy I got the TL for $29.7k and that was a finance. Youre right a bank wont just cut you a check without the vin number but if you get pre approved first then go to the dealer and get the deal you want offering a check thats when you go back to the bank and get it.
As for getting nav at invoice, There are so many dealers that its not their business you want, its your business they want. You can get navi for invoice. Of course you might be right about your location but up here you can.
There have been comments on this board about dealerships not working with people who had credit union financing AND asking for good deals. They were told to get a better deal, they would have to finance through the dealership.
Typically dealers work with one or two banks depending on the type of loan and credit rating. I'm not positive about this, but this is what I was told by my dealership.
It seems the prices on NAVIs are coming down, but not around here or in CA. Two months ago, invoice was unheard of.
They sold him that same car for 20k He didnt go in having done any reasearch which I told him to do but he was able to get a pretty good deal even though I dont really think its worth it for an eclipse.
If people play their cards right they can get very good deals but it takes a lot of time and a lot of effort. This site has a lot of useful information that can be used to our advantage..i.e. cost, invoice, depreciation..etc
As for banks/credit unions vs dealerships...Dealership is always going to try and go the way for it to benefit itself. I belong to a credit union here in Boston and for a 60mth loan the apr is always going to be 3.5. However sometimes you do find special apr deals with dealers and there are so many dealers up here that buyers have the upper hand. You can just walk out of one cross the street and youre in another.
I shopped pretty hard back in March-May and ended up with one for $1,000 over invoice in Pennsylvania. The car was ordered to my exact color specifications with the HPT package. I took delivery with 3 miles from the factory on the odometer. The supposedly great deals that I checked out in New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts and Ohio were either not for non-Nav models, automatics or demos. After I had a done deal with the high integrity PA dealership, several others offered to "try" to match it, but couldn't guarantee me a delivery date.
As for cash, I always pay cash. Sometimes it helps, other times it doesn't. In the case of the TL, it made no significant difference other than making the paperwork go quicker. So, if you have a dealer willing to sell a nav TL for invoice, post their name. I have at least one friend who would be happy to show up with 321 $100 bills if that's what it would take.
I am going to use a home equity line of credit, so I assume this is as good as cash, right? Should I expect to do better this way?
If anyone has any good referrals in my area, please let me know. I am also considering using Fighting Chance, does anyone have any experience with them?
Thanks for any input you have.
I just saw your message after I posted mine. If you know a dealer in the Philly area that would do $1000 over invoice I would love to contact them. I also would like to order a car that has no miles on it in the color and interior I want. Im not in any hurry so I can wait for the best deal. Thanks for any input.
Wrong. They can and will give you a check before you buy your car even if you don't have any information on the car and even don't know what kind you are getting. You can get a check that has a max amount. However in order for the check to be valid they (the Dealership) have to write the car's information (like the VIN) onto the check before they cash it. I did this when I bought my TL. I took the check in and said I was getting so and so interest rate. They were able to get me an interest rate one point lower. So I ripped up the check and went through them.
However, if you aren't in any real hurry, I would consider waiting for the 2005 model, especially if you want or are considering navigation. It is my understanding that Acura will be increasing the production of nav equiped units for 2005 and that should help equalize supply and demand. Also, oredering a 6-speed in your exact color combo will likely be easier in September/October.
They ordered the car for me in Silver with black leather. I was also offered this car at inskip in Warwick, RI at 30,600
