Cant find the VIN on my Kitcar?

I purchased a 1929 Mercedes Gazelle kitcar, built on a1969 Volkswagen Bug, i cant find the VIN anywhere. The motor has been replaced so its not possible for it to be on there. Any ideas where it could be? Also could i buy a plate with the vin listed on the title and put it on there?

    I vote for your last idea. I did that once with a '67 model car.

    Maybe, we can scare up @Mr_Shiftright to come by and give us his opinion.
