You can give the dealership name and city. That would be helpful information. But remember, salesman names or phone numbers NOT allowed.

gguy - oh my god!....that damn spoiler crap is getting around!...this past Sunday, while going to a friends to watch the Fins lose in the last seconds, I passed a beautiful blue RX8. (Like yours right?)...and it had that damn carbon fiber, bolt on, whale-tail wing thingy...oh my god was it ugly....no, really..it was capital "U"-g-l-y..... and to top it off, they put on smaller rims and tires (??) and total black tint!.....lol...I was so upset, I just had to laugh!...sad...really sad...

as an update to the tint - a friend here with a vette bought his tint job on a sunny day - and got way too dark. He had to go back and get less tint. He mentions to always check the tint out at dusk....sounds good to me! I am not sure if there are any specific laws here in FL about tint, but if I find out, I will post here.

oh, and gguy, thanks for the concern! You rock! To be honest, I was more worried about about 'Shima' since she was in the complex parking lot during the winds and rain. The place lost about 100 old oak and ficus trees (!) and about 4 cars underneath them. My only 'damage' was leaves and dirt, thankfully! :-)

Glad to hear you're OK. From the reports I saw in the news, FL and the entier Gulf Area just got pummeled. I had read that SHIMA was the worst of the storms. That had to have you on "pins & needles"....certainly for your own safety, but secondarily for your beloved 8.

Gotta be there for our RX8 bretheren.....

Yes, mine is winning blue.....I like the regular spoiler from Mazda. I've seen some fairly hideous spoilers on other cars. I don't know what I'd do if I saw one of those on an RX8.......

Oh, one last thing....just so you don't think I'm going soft, your Dolphins got beat by my Bengals.....;-)

Had a service today here at my South Florida dealer. They had 17 RX8's on the lot all colors. All had the Sport option....they even had a 2005 White one with aftermarket 19" rims - I thought they were pretty ugly and they added $3K to the price (!). But the white was very nice - sparkly!

oh, and gguy, not my Dolphins - I am transplant from Wisconsin.....a mighty, beach cheezehead!....who hangs his head in shame for the loss, at home, to the Bears....ack....heehee :-)
  • graphicguygraphicguy Member Posts: 14,123
Yeah....that Bears game hurt. I do like the Pack, though.

"You'll never be able to get some super deal like your dad does on his Impala."

True, but you can get a decent deal on an RX-8.

I purchased mine last month for $500 under invoice. (-$750 marketing support, + $250 profit). Also, I financed a portion of the balance for 0 percent for 24 months -- why turn down free money?

I believe this month's incentive is $1,000, but no 0 percent financing.

It was a nice car ... Titanium Grey, GT, Appearance Package.

Then, I put what I saved towards window tinting, 3M paint protection, a radar shifter, RX-8 garage banner and die cast 1/32 replica.

    Now, it's a sweet ride ...

Anyone had a recent experience (last 2 weeks)getting a price around invoice or less in the southeast. I'm in Charlotte, NC and have e-mailed dealers all over NC and SC and no one is offering a decent deal. I'm looking for automatic with grand touring only and best price is $800 over invoice. I figured to get invoice or below considering end of model year and the $1000 manuf. to dealer incentive. I want to buy asap as this incentive expires Sept. 30th.

Tried to buy a 2005 RX-8 today from a large central florida dealership in northern seminole county...

Could get the salesperson to +$500 over invoice on the car, but we could not agree on the trade-in. Hidden fees killed the deal.

Just posting for your information... 2005's are arriving and there is significant 2004 dealer stock left.

Does anyone have the latest Lease incentives that Mazda is providing to dealers on RX8's.
I know last month it was approximately 4250. Has that changed or gone up?
    Thanks for your help.

I'm in the market for a stripped six-speed and ran across this advertised deal locally (seattle).

    2004 6MT w/ Sport package
    MSRP 28894
    Discount 4000
    Mac and lease cash 3500
    college grad rebate 500
    in market owners cert 500
    Your price: 20394

What's Mac and lease cash? And an in-market owners certificate?

I plan to buy outright. Do I qualify for these?
  • qbrozenqbrozen Member Posts: 33,740
well, i can tell you that, if you plan to buy it outright, you definitely don't qualify for the lease cash. its just what it sounds like, a discount for people who lease the car.

Does anybody know if you can get a 12 month lease on an RX-8?
  • mazdax605mazdax605 Member Posts: 89
    Hello greg,

I have not heard of a 12 month lease on an RX-8,but however I did lease mine for 24 months back in August.I got $4250 off in lease incentives at the time.I got the car for invoice minus these incentives,so I got it for a smidge over 21K.It is a base 6 speed in Nordic green, and I love it.My payments are a smidge over $300 including all taxes(MA sales tax 5%,and excise tax). All in all Car_Man said I got a great deal, and I think 24 months is really just like a long test drive.I have never leased before, but so far I like the experience.Good luck in your search.I would just shoot for a 24 month lease,12 months is just way too short especially if you live in snow country like me.I will not use the car for a couple of months during the winter so I can bank those miles for the spring/summer/fall months.

Picked up a 2005 6 speed black loaded RX8 last night at invoice, no haggles, no problems, located a car with the exact options I wanted which was impressive. In Maryland/Virginia area www.fitzmall.com, I highly recommend them.

What are people paying for 2005 Rx-8's, w/ A/T, and GT package. A dealer gave me a quote of 28,600. Would you offer 28K or less? I would appreciate any input people have. Thanks

I bought mine last week - 2005, 6 speed, GT pkg, Nav system. I used United Buying Service (UBS) through my company. They have pre-negotiated prices on most cars. Saved $2,500 on the purchase price with no haggling. A couple dealer add-ons added more to the price (exterior protection, LoJack anti-theft, etc.) Brown's Alexandria Mazda did very well, worked hard to get my Mazda financing at a good rate. Very pleased with the dealer.

I'm planning to purchase an 04 rx-8 w/ touring pkg in Mid/End January. I want it now but i can only get my finances ready in jan. Kind of a let down i guess but it may be better than rushing. I'm not aware of any specials going on this next few days but will i get at least the same kind of pricing if i purchase it later?

What's a good price for a Titanium 04 6sp w/ Touring? I'm in Atlanta area by the way.

    Thanks!

You can get a 2004 RX-8 for almost nothing in the Northwest. It snows here all the bloody time and rear wheel cars don't go for much. I know a sales guy who routinely sells them for way back of invoice.

Looking at an RX8 stick with Nav and Grand touring, MSRP approx 32.5K Dealer offering 4.5 off sticker. What do lease incentives look like right now. I was able to get a car last year MSRP 33k with 1k down 24 month lease for $310 month can I do something similar here?

    Is it worth a deal?

If its just a base 6-speed, then, no, that's a terrible price.

Is it a grand touring model, sports or is this a base RX8 If it is base I suggest you run from this dealership. I don't know where you are located but in New England you can buy a new RX8 base vehicle with six speed for approx 23 K new.
Also be aware that on a used RX8 they could be part of the buyback program. I would ask to make sure it is not. Good luck with your search for an RX8.
  • graphicguygraphicguy Member Posts: 14,123
Nothing wrong with those RX8s from the buyback program. Just as an update, those of us who bought the very first RX8s that hit these shores in July/August '03 (me being one of them) were told that the engine produced 247HP. After further testing, Mazda had to restate their HP figure to 238HP (which is what they advertise even today). MAzda offered us early owners the option of either having our RX8s bought back by Mazda, or we could keep the car and get free maintenance for the life of the warranty period + $500. I took the free maintenance and the money.

NOt many took advantage of having their's bought back (if memory serves, it was a number less than 100). Allegedly (couldn't confirm), MAzda was not going to offer the "buy-back" cars on the open market. Don't really know how true that is.

But, if this is indeed one of those buy backs, they should have little in the way of mileage and nothing is really wrong with them.

I would tend to agree on the buyback, unless of course the car is one that got beaten on by a driver knowing they were going to return the car anyway.
I took advantage of the buyback, since I had paid sticker for the car and had another ordered at dealer cost. Mazda refunded the full price of the vehicle and my registration and excise tax. It was a great deal. I got to put about 4k miles on the car before it was returned also.

The best part was on the second car I had ordered I got the maintenance and the 500 dollar debit card.

I think Mazda is a great company to stand behind their products. I have owned each generation of RX7's and have either made money or broken even after driving the cars for 1 to 2 years.

I think you will be happy with your RX8 purchase just watch the papers on Sunday to see what new ones are going for, that will probably give you some room to negotiate.
  • peachtree103peachtree103 Member Posts: 182
I concur on the buyback. I also had one of the first, and decided to take Mazda up on their very generous offer. I got to drive a RX-8 for almost 7500 miles for the cost of gas and about $150 in interest. Bought a non-Mazda from the same dealer, but wouldn't hesitate to buy a Mazda or even a buy back car if that fit my needs.

Anyone know the amount of the "marketing assistance" for new left-over 04 RX-8s?

Edmunds incentives page USED to list current and prior model rebates and incentives - but all they show now are 2005 numbers.

Based on the prices I have seen, there HAS to be some dealer money - since prices are below invoice - customer rebates - hold back. Somehow I don't think all these dealers are losing money on every sale :-)

Hi, I am planning to purchase an RX-8 by the beginning of July. I will be living in Long Beach, anyone know a good dealership to go to in Southern California? Anyone know about rebates on the 2005 models?
  • jlarx8jlarx8 Member Posts: 2
Just got my RX-8 - Silver with Grand Touring Package - nothing additional in an automatic.- I had to have that exact package. I live in Connecticut and I searched through about 5 surrounding states. Everyone (especially CT dealerships) were offering anywhere from $250-$600 above invoice. The best deal (well, maybe not the best, but I did everything through email and it was dragging out and I just wanted to buy the darn car) was at Pacifico in Philadelphia. I paid $200 below invoice. What made it so easy was the professionalism of the staff. No one was obnoxious and pushy. When I got there, the numbers were the same, there was no fooling around, had a Phili cheesesteak and went home!

I'm interested in buying a RX 8... There is a dealer here in Hawaii asking for $24990 for a Titanium Grey 2004 6 speed...

    - sport package
    - appearance package with rear spoiler
    - 6 disc CD changer
    - rotary accent package..

is this a good price or it should be lower??

dwynne asked pretty much the same question - there seems to be quite a few leftovers from 04 still on the lots and untitled. anyone know what kinds of deals are happening on these from the dealers? Friday is my b-day and my plan is to buy myself an RX8, except I haven't been working very hard on locating one and searching deals. I like to buy about a year used, lots of options, mileage is not a concern because I'm a low-mileage user, but I like to trade. Can't do that buying brand new off the lot. However, I thought some of the leftover 04's may be an option for me. PS I've got my heart set on a 6 sp yellow with all the bells and whistles - hard to locate right now. they all seem to be autos that i can find!!!
  • peachtree103peachtree103 Member Posts: 182
    lhess,

If your heart is set on yellow, go ahead, but if you like to trade often, yellow will be a slower sell on the other end. Most likely, the left over '04s are left over for a reason, they're the ones no one else wanted. They'll want it even less as a used car.

I trade often myself, usually buying used, driving for a year, and then selling, because I drive over 35K/year. I put as much thought into how I'm going to sell the vehicle as I do buying it. Terry over in the smart shopper "Real World trade in Values" forum is a great help here. He always says "buy and drive what YOU like". So if your heart is set, go for it, but you might do even better with a dealer that desperately wants to unload a used one.

    Good luck whatever you decide.
  • lhesslhess Member Posts: 379
peachtree... good point on the leftovers. I've always been a fan of red, but i really like having something unique and it seems as though every other rx8 made was red. i live in rural wv and i have to get out of the "woods" just to find a good used car. I have located a used red loaded with the navvy and all that I could live with, but i don't want to pine for my yellow ride afterwards... i have an 01 eclipse spyder right now and have the itch to trade... really like this forum, it's hard to get up-front info on a certain model car and these folks have no hidden agendas.
  • peachtree103peachtree103 Member Posts: 182
If yellow is what you like, the you should get yellow. I had red. Most of the first ones were. Yellow will be unique. But you should probably plan on keeping it a while.

Ultimately, you're paying, you're driving. Get what YOU want.
  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
It looks like there are $3250 in customer cash for the left over 04 RX-8s and it appears to be $750 in dealer money for a total of $4,000 off.

So it looks like if you can find a new 04 you like (or will take) you should be able to get it for around $4,000 under INVOICE price. You can use Edmunds 05 RX-8 prices as a guide for the 04 invoice then take $4,000 off of that. This would be an 04 6mt w/GT pack for $26k or so + TTL.

Keep in mind some of the customer cash (and maybe the dealer cash) is based on you financing through MAC so if you bring your own financing you are going to pay more.

What folks are doing is getting the MAC loan, then doing a refinance in 3 months to a better rate. You get the discount now, then a better than MAC rate later.

  • dwynnedwynne Member Posts: 4,018
A lot of the leftovers have some other options on top of the packages (sports, touring, or GT) like CD changer, wing, appearance package, etc. A lot of them seem to be higher priced GT cars - but I have seen all different package cars and all different color cars still on the lots. If "dealer a" got in 10 red ones and folks in his area chose other colors, then he ended up with more leftover reds. I really have not seen many yellow ones left over, now that I think about it.

I would get what I wanted, in any case. If you are the kind that trades in cars it may not make any difference on a trade in later (the dealer will hose you no matter the color), but for a private sale yellow may turn off another buyer. Heck, red (the metal-flake red Mazda uses) may turn folks off. Some may think silver or white is a poor choice for a sports car and what something flashier. It is hard to say.

What I CAN say is this: it looks like the 8 resale value is gonna hurl major chunkage. If the dealers can't even sell their 04 cars (it is now March of 05) and have to have $4,000 worth of help to move them AT COST then that does not bode well for future values. We may be playing this same game in a few months with the leftover 05 models as well. Right now, low mile used 04 s are just getting over $20k w/options. Why would someone pay any more when you could get a new car for just a bit less?

So if do don't plan on keeping the 8, you could be sorry down the road. Maybe do a 36 month lease. At the end, but it off the lease if you want to keep it or if the market value is less than residual just turn it in and get something else. You may come out ahead if the prices do not hold up.

Rumor of the MazdaSpeed 8 this fall - it true and it is "blown" with more HP then lots of 8 owners will be trading in and even more used 8s = lower value for yours.

Just be glad you didn't pay full boat for an 8 when it came out, you could be looking at a 1/3 depreciation the first year if you were trying to sell or trade now!

Just purchased an 04 8 in Seattle. auto, touring pkg., appearance pkg., accent pkg. and spoiler for 24,000. The deal with the rebate is sortof like what dwynne said. The total rebate is $3250. That's $750 from the dealer and $2500 from MAC. You have to finance a minimum of 10k for 1 year.(here interest rate is 6%) There is a debate about how soon you can pay it off without MAC coming back at you for a return of part of the cash back. It's either 4 or 6 months. I'll pay it off in 6 months and end up only paying $270 in interest.

i've spotted a yellow 6 sp in oh nicely equipped, less than 15k miles for a list price of $24,995. the price seems fair, but i'm getting shakey about future values on the rx8. my second choice is a 350z and the retail on them doesn't seem to be holding much better and i'm looking at a year older model (03) to get in the same price range. I certainly don't expect to stumble onto a car that will hold 100%, but you have to live with bad buys for a long time before the equity factor tips in your favor (or even break-even) on a trade. i may be in the wrong room, but what's the scoop on an rx8 convertible? i'm agonizing on trading my spyder because it's so darn fun in the summer, but some issues with it are concerning me (oxidizing paint, for one). I would probably hold for the convertible rx8 if they are a reality and arriving anytime soon. and, what are the rumors on the mazdaspeed 8? why would mazda do that to themselves??
  • mazda04rx8mazda04rx8 Member Posts: 37
I recommend you get the color that you want. Be aware that experience has shown that these are the cars that dealers have been using to get people into the showroom. $199 mo 24 months $2k down. The dealer I followed up on with this offer said it was only for the yellow one (which they were having trouble selling) Be aware that it may cost you in trade if you don't keep your cars long. My experience with Rx's both 7's and 8's over the years is that they hold their value reasonable well. It should be interesting to see when my 24 months are up on my current lease how the residual compares to Market value.
Good luck with your decision. I am sure you will be pleased with your RX. Be aware though if you are in a winter climate and plan to drive in snow you must buy snow tires or at least all weather to be able to drive the vehicle.

nix the yellow in oh - sold!! i'm a day late and a dollar short on all these yellows!! my closest mazda dealer has a yellow 04 that prices around $30,000. not to be nosey, but you mentioned a 24-month lease - what kind of lease payment are you doing and what was the retail on the car? i love the idea of leasing, but i hate the fact that the numbers are a complete mystery until you face a dealer and get some hard numbers. at least with financing, you know ahead of time what price range car you can reasonably expect to drive. i hope to keep my payment at or under $400 (that's what i currently pay on the spyder). what's your thought on a lease payment on the above?? and, i'm amazed on the yellow attitude - the flashier the better for me!! maybe it's a female thing!!

Anybody got any prices on the special edition RX-8 Shinka? I have a dealer who has quoted me $400 over invoice for the car (including grad rebate). He also quoted me $400 under invoice (including rebate again) for any 05 he has on the lot. What do you guys think? Most of the dealerships in Southern California don't have many 04's left so they seem out of the question.
