How much will DieselGate cost VW?

VW is facing fines up to $18 Billion for gaming the emissions testing on their 2.0l diesel engines sold in the US. They also face recall costs which could be relatively inexpensive via a sofware fix or costly if an AdBlue system retrofit is required. Then there will be class actions by consumers for lost value of their cars, lost performance and mpg if the recall fix affects those features and perhaps buyback costs. The stockholders may sue for lost value of their shares. And the dealers may sue for lost sales profits.

The numbers are so big, we're using a Capital B Billion.
