I have pricing on a 2016 REV4 Limited AWD in Frederick, MD (Basque Red Pearl exterior and Ash interior). The vehicle's included options are the tonneau cover ($90), carpeted floor mats ($130), and the roof rack cross bars ($315). So, the MSRP on the vehicle (including $900 delivery) is $34,345.

Offered price is $29,750 (includes $1250 cashback/rebate) with $300 doc fee, $1878 tax, and $351 tags/title. So, OTD is $32279. How does this look?

You've done your homework, @jimm5. Odd, we aren't showing the Basque Red and I get different price on the mats. But my MRSP only winds up $40 different from yours.

TMV is coming in around $800 below invoice, including the incentive. Or $31,274 before taxes and fees. I get $32,100 for invoice.

So your quote is $2,350 below invoice - good for a Toyota even with the incentive taken into account.

The doc fee is about $250 too high, which is usual.

    Good luck!

Thanks, SteveR, for the review and for working through my typo - Basque Red Pearl is a CR-V color. I meant Barcelona Red Metallic. That said, we picked up the car yesterday for the pricing I listed above, so thanks again for the help.

    Hi @stever,

Your advice on this board has been very helpful and i hope you can lend your view for our current situation.

We have decided on a Rav4 Hybrid XLE with convenience package. One dealership said it is out of stock anywhere in Michigan and been trying to push for the limited trim. The other two dealership came in pretty similar in prices for XLE with convenience package and is not really budging claiming similar reason, they have to get the car from somewhere else.

Currently the pricing stands at $30,788 with TTL the out the door ends up being 32,977. Does this seem usual?

    Steve,
Wish I had read this forum earlier. I bought a RAV4 hybrid XLE last night at Southern California, Orange County dealer with price of 29,500 OTD with 0 down and 0% financing. Is this considered a good deal?

Figuring 10% taxes and fees as a rough guess, your selling price would be around $27,500. Invoice is
$27,576 and the TMV average price paid is about $1,000 more than invoice.

Not sure if you got the $750 rebate to get your good deal, but the 0% is nice. Congrats!

The salesman said I got both the 750 and 0% financing. However , I just wanna see if I got a deal for the model.

Unless my guess at your selling price is way off, it looks like you got a good deal from here. You got OTD for around MSRP.

The guy at the dealer gave me a call today and said he has to rewrite that I have 0.9% financing and will adjust the selling price so I would pay the same. Never heard such thing but he told me to dim in tomorrow or any day of the week to redo the paper....

That happens - usually they try to raise your payments though. Best pay attention to the math and make sure they don't add another payment to your loan. Could just be a simple mistake though.

    Hi, Stever.
We negotiated a 2016 Rav4 Ltd AWD Blizzard Pearl here in Illinois 60192. MSRP of 35,012. Selling price proposed was 31, 742 excluding the tax of 2,659, VIN etch, 299, doc fee 169.27, Cook county new vehicle 15, license plates 196 and EVR (electronic recording)25.

We told the agent the vehicle tax was wrong & should be 2,618 (8.25% ) and we were not paying the VIN etch.
We opted for 0% financing, not the $750 cash offer.

Since vehicle was not around yet, we showed our interest on it by placing a 1,000 money down and returning next day. What do you think of the selling price & miscellaneous fees?

Hi @ritzy88, I get a different MSRP - $34,205, including the $900 destination and $395 for the nice white paint. Maybe you have some other options on it?

Invoice is $32,022. The True Market Value average price paid for your zip is close to invoice, at $32,302, with destination but without the incentive.

We don't get as many pricing reports on Toyotas compared to Hondas. My impression is that dealers usually split the difference between MSRP and invoice on Toyotas - we're late in the model year so TMV has come down close to invoice.

So your quote is about $300 below invoice and $600 below the average. I think that's pretty good for Toyotas and pretty good for Chicago too.

If you have another $1,000 in options on it, that would really sweeten the deal.

(I trust that your deposit is refundable or that you put it on a credit card. :) )

    Hi Stever,

Appreciate all the help you provide on this site. I'm looking to buy a 2016 Rav4 LE AWD in the NJ area. I understand the invoice w/ destination is $24977. What price before TTL should I target for my region? I also understand there is a cash incentive of $750 back but wanted to get an idea of target price not including this incentive. Thanks!

Hi @jellydoboy - the True Market Value average price paid for your area is $25,602, before the incentive.

Since that's the average, some people are getting deals below invoice. The trick is guessing how much below. I think I'd swing $600 for below invoice, add in the incentive and shoot for $23,650 before TTL.

The dealer is going be thinking there's already a $1,000 bucks off with the incentive (just a little rounding error). :)

What's working in your favor is that sales really slacked off across the board in August, it's the end of the model year and it's the end of the month. And when I look at our inventory listing, I see over 400 LE AWDs in stock your area.

Might want to solicit several quotes before tipping your hand in case my guess is too high.

    Hi Stever,

SF Bay Area Dealer gave me a quote of $34,200 MSRP after dealer discount for Limited Hybrid. Original MSRP was $36,300 with $900 delivery, $90 tonneau cover, $225 carpet and cargo mat.
    OTD is $37,700.

Think it's possible to get them lower to $36,500 OTD since 2017 Rav4 models are out?

    Thanks,

The dealer accepted my offer of $200 a month and $2000 down for a 17' RAV4 LE AWD. The down payment includes everything from taxes to first payment and etc. I'm new to leasing and I was wondering if this is decent?
