Thank you! Do you have any thoughts on the following? $34,300 on an XLE with captain's chairs. Also some other "optional" equipment which really seems standard, including Cargo Cover (Retractable) $179.00, Carpet Floor Mats & Cargo Mat $225.00, Rear Bumper Applique $69.00. This is in San Diego. Thank you again for your help!

I get an MSRP for that 2016 trim (assuming FWD in SD) of $38,963. TMV is close to invoice at $35,277, including that $750 incentive (invoice is about $250 more). All these numbers include the destination.

Your quote is about 12% below MSRP and that's good on a Highlander.

I guess I'd like to see you get a quote on a similar 2017 and see what the actual dollar difference it. When the spread is $2,000 or less, I'd go for the newest model. When the spread hits $3,000 or more, that decision gets harder. :)

That makes sense regarding the 2017 model. I will look into that as well. Thank you again!

    Hi

Can you let me know for a XLE FWD no other adds, what is a good price for Dallas?

    Thanks
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
True Market Value for Dallas on the XLE is $26,919. That's about $2,500 off invoice so the "average" deal is very good right now. That's about 16% off MSRP.

To beat the average, I'd try for $26,500 or more off.

My numbers include the $865 destination and TMV includes the $2,500 cash incentive.

Thank you very much for the details. Right now I am torn between this and the 2017 Sienna XLE base FWD.
As that has more room inside, my wife is pushing for that.

I don't see the thread on the Sienna price paid though. Any idea where I can find that information?

    Smart woman.

Here's the freshly minted 2017 Toyota Sienna Prices Paid discussion.

(I get $34,200 for TMV for the XLE base, assuming that's the 8 passenger one. That's ~$200 below invoice.)

Thanks for that. The 34.2K includes Acquisition fee? One dealer emailed me 33,598 + 650 acq = 34,248 which is matching what you have listed.

Acquisition? My numbers include destination ($940). That's typically a leasing term.

Thank you in advance for all your help, stever. Now the wife wants a bit more luxury in the car so I'm consider the XLE. Let me know what you think about a 2017 XLE FWD (Houston) with P2 Protection package, mudguard, running board & mat set including cargo mat. MSRP of $41k, quoted $37 + TTL. Alternatively, an offer is on the table for 2016 XLE FWD with Capt chair, remote start, running board, mat set = $35k (MSRP of $40500).

Another smart woman. :) You spend so much time in cars in Houston, you may as well have a bit of lux.

TMV is only about $600 off MSRP. No great shakes on "average" deals but your quote is close to invoice. That sounds good for a new 2017.

For a couple of thousand difference, I'd sure lean toward the 2017.

Thanks for the quick response. I'm trying to negotiate the 2016 down a few hundreds as that'd personally be preferable since I have an Aircheck certificate for trading in an old clunker but that cap the new car purchase at $35k. What's a good target price for the 2016 as optioned above?

Hello, I'm looking for pricing on a new 2016 Limited AWD in the Southern CA LA area. Does anyone know what they are going for? I'm new to this forum so I'm not really sure how this works. Ideally, I would like to see what the prices are before tax, title and license. I'm comparing the cost of brand new to buying a pre owned sedan or used 2013 Highlander. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

For the 2016, TMV is $35,269. So close to your quote.

A better target for that one would be $34,425. That would be around 15% off MSRP. Your quote is about 1 to 1.5% under that now (13%ish), so another $600 may be doable. Worth aiming for fer sure.

    Good luck!

Is ToyotaCare 2-year schedule maintenance standard without extra charge at all dealers?
  • steverstever Guest Posts: 52,454
Should be since it's a Toyota amenity and the dealers get paid by Toyota for doing the service.

I don't see any "dealer participation may vary" fine print at the web page.

I'm in trouble with the Mrs. since I closed a deal on a LE V6 AWD (barely any AWD left around here). Dealer installed option includes running board, carpet mat set, window tint and a bs cosmetic protection crap. MSRP of $36k. Dealt down to $30,300 +TTL, $32,500 OTD no trades. Couldn't get the 0% financing to combine with the $1500 incentive but I think at almost 16% off MSRP, I did well. In the doghouse since she didn't get her luxury add-ons but she'll thank me later?

I am in Houston and I got a quote for the 2016 XLE with CG - Cargo Cover, Cargo Net, Carpet Floor Mats & Cargo Liner for $34592 + TTL. It is a little under the invoice, is it a good price for this time of the year?

Looking to buy a 2017 Highlander xle in seattle, but everyone wants $1000 over invoice.  Any suggestions to get something like what people are getting here?

Looking at leasing 2016 Highlander AWD LTD with Technology package and some other items. MSRP is with Dest is $45554.00, money factor is good on a 36/15 (.0008) and Residual on this car comes out to 28699.00. Thinking about offering $39000.00 on the cap with an expectation of about 680 in acq and doc fees. Puts my pre-tax payment somewhere near 270.00 Seem reasonable?

It would be a steal at that price. I'll be shocked if you can get a $6500 discount. Report back and let us know how it goes.

TrueCar is showing 12% off sticker - Dealers don't seem to want to deal more than the current factory promotions even with 12+ 16's on the lot. I will just default to TrueCar.

Many times, and definitely with Toyota, incentives are only good for purchase, and don't apply to leases.

I've shopping for 2017 Highlander AWD V6 Limited Platinum via Truecar without much success-there aren't many of these vehicles at the local dealers in Austin, TX. Yesterday, however, I received an email from a dealer with an offer on a 2016 V6 AWD Limited Platinum Silver Sky Metallic/Black Interior: MSRP=$46,520, Truecar Estimate=$38,037. An 18% discount? Really? Something must be wrong with the vehicle. Any thoughts?

18% off MSRP would be at the high end, especially for a Toyota SUV, but we see that now and then. It's last year's model and it's the end of the year, when dealers are trying to make quota and earn bonus money for left over cars.

The usual range for deals is 6 to 12% off btw, with a lot of "depends".

Worth a test drive I'd say.
