The salesman wants me to put $1000 down and $465/mo. What do you think?
Since I have good credit, I think the rate is a bit high...

MSRP is $32915. I got the Costco discount and $500 dealer discount. 
Maybe that's why he we bumping the MF up to offset the discount??
still doesn't make sense to me. I may have to check another dealership.

Generally, the maximum bump in MF would be to .00171, assuming you qualify for top tier credit.

Can someone clue me in on MF and residual for both a 2015 and 2016 2dr hardtop base? ( in light of the national $199/mo lease special ) If you add on features does the residual % stay the same or vary depending on the features added? Danke!

I recently got quoted 00134 and 71% residual for a 2016 4dr hardtop, 5k

However they insist on applying an "adjustment" to the residual value that makes it drop as I want 7.5k miles. Is this normal?

Residual adjustments make the number go up.
Base residual amounts are for 15K/yr. If you want 7.5K/yr (assuming that's available), then the residual percentage goes up by 4%.

Unless it's a demo? Maybe the residual adjustment is for miles already on the vehicle?

I think they are adjusting to pad their profit (and slip it by). Here's the question: what's the correct residual in this case?

Unfortunately, we don't have the MINI lease numbers for November to confirm.

That said, the dealer cannot modify the residual - that is set by the bank. The only adjustment - as noted above - is to deduct for the miles already on the car. I think it's .25/mile for MINI.

So, the residual should be (25,000 * .71) - (5000 * .25) = 17,750 - 1250 = 16,500.

If $21,000 is the agreed upon selling price, then the depreciation is only $4500 (21,000 - 16,500), or $187.50/mo for 24 months.

As we don't have the MF information, we cannot calculate the rent charge portion of the lease. And, tax has to be calculated, as well.

With that piece of information, it looks like the cap cost is very close to the $21,000 number you provided earlier. That looks to be a pretty good deal for a $25K car on a 24 month lease.

1. That looks like a solid deal, relative to MSRP
2. Price should be negotiable, though that's a decent discount from sticker, already. MF can be marked up by the dealer - but, we don't have the MINI numbers for November so can't tell you if that's the case with this deal.

Sorry, we don't have any MINI lease information, this month.

There aren't any substantial differences between the model years, correct? If, so, all else being equal, you should be able to get a better deal on an outgoing 2016.

The 2017 model has the larger screen "Connected Package" as standard that used to be a $750 option on the 2016s.
