In my opinion, and based on what I've seen, most cars do improve in MOST ways through their various generations; certainly the Mini seems to have worked out lots of bugs, and made a better car. The base engine is peppier and the automatic transmissions are vastly improved.
Do I regret buying mine? No, not at all. I bought mine used for $12,000, spent 3500 in repairs and maintenance over 4 years, and put on 60,000 miles. The car now is probably worth $6500. So total expense with depreciation and repairs has been $9000.
If I had bought a 2009 Model brand new, with similar options, that would have cost me roughly $30,000. That same car today, with 60000 miles on it, is worth perhaps $13,000. So I'd have "lost" $17,000. At least.
Most of all though, I'd miss the supercharger. It sounds and behaves very differently from the newer generation turbo cars. Yes, it's rougher riding and lacks some of the 2013 gadgetry, but it's a very fun car to drive, flawed as it may be.
Does anyone know if mini dealers will accept an aftermarket warranty from companies like CarChex?
They are much cheaper than the dealer extended warranty plans and cover the same items (from what they have told me thus far).
Has anyone purchased/used this warranty at a dealership and what was your experience?
But, I would be shocked if a new car dealer would work with a warranty that they didn't sell you.
Also, I'll note that it seems CarChex is a warranty broker, and they aren't the company providing the warranty. They are just selling it.
