I received a quote over the phone from wayne mazda today for a Mazda 3i-touring for $17,600 not including sales tax which puts it at $18,832 OTD.. is that a good deal?

I took this deal to the manhattan mazda dealer and he basically told me that he couldn't go under $18,500 or he would be losing money.. he told me that there are no incentives or rebates for the dealers on this car...

any thoughts? is the wayne dealer not telling me of some hidden fees he is going to charge me when i actually go to the dealership?

    Hi gman70..

where did you get your mazda 3i touring? sounds like you got an excellent deal and i'd like to go get one... the best offer i could get was $17800 excluding tax and title...

    please help...

If thats a 18000 msrp 2010 touring model for about $17600, 500 or so off msrp would not be that appealing to me. Get 10 or more bids towards end of the month from dealers on the mazda website. Things can get interesting the last 3 days. I don't believe car sales will be that great the next 6 months

    Good luck

i made a deal with a dealership on a 3i-touring and they said that they would go find the color i wanted (white). i put down a $200 deposit. it's been two days and they still say that they are "searching" for the car. now i've gotten another quote from a different dealer for $500 less than the first dealer but it's for a color that's #3 on my list of colors i'd like (black). i was originally willing to pay more for the exact color i wanted but since the first dealer seems to be giving me the run around i'm willing to go with my #3 choice the black and save $500. does anyone know about the $200 deposit i've already put down? can i get that back? even though i don't get it back i'll still come out $300 ahead. allbeit it's not the ideal color i'd like to drive for the next forseeable future.

does anyone know about the deposit and a possible refund?
  • mack29mack29 Member Posts: 3
Just have the Guy at the wayne place fax you a copy of the deal, so there will be no "miss understandings".
  • mack29mack29 Member Posts: 3
Just my opinion, don't compromise on the color of you car. You will be kicking yourself down the road, I did once and I will never do that again.

Check any receipt / document from the dealership for information about deposits and refunds. Contact the dealership and tell the rep you need an answer on the white car by this Friday or you will want your deposit back. Escalate to the manager if you are not satisfied with the answer.

I'm looking for a used Mazda3 Sport with under 35k miles. I'm very near Wayne Mazda in northern NJ. They have a ton of used 2006-2008 models that would work for me. These are listed from $13,995 to $16,995. One specific car is a loaded 2006 Sport with 30k miles for $14,995.

How much room I have on these used models? What would be a good deal? I'd like to be at $13k OTD. Is that possible? Can I get it even lower?

Are there any big advantages to a 2008 over a 2007/06?
  • tstraubtstraub Member Posts: 25
Leased for 36 mos/10k miles/yr, cap cost $17,729, which is $500 BELOW invoice-very happy with the deal and the car. Got first color choice, and dealer had to trade to get it.
  • ejleeejlee Member Posts: 4
I got the red car instead... cost me $17600 with all fees included... i'm fairly pleased with my purchase.. i'm sure i could have gotten a better deal somewhere else but the red is very hard to come by in the northeast.. especially a manual transmission... i ended up NOT going to the wayne NJ dealership because i checked them out on the BBB website and they got an F rating... i'm sure others have had great experiences with them but regardless.. put me on edge...

thanks to everyone for their insight and input...

Has anyone used the S-Plan to purchase a Mazda 3? I am eligible to use the plan but I want to make sure I understand it before I go into a dealer.

The website says that rebates and incentives should be deducted from the S plan price including dealer cash incentives, top level dealer engagement or stair step programs.

How will I know if the dealer is deducting those items from the price. Is there a way to find out if any of those incentives and/or rebates are available now?

This is the best I was able to do on price around Worcester, MA for a 3i Touring with automatic, gunmetal color (numbers below approximate):
    $17,971 negotiated price
    $1,111,94 sales tax
$239 dealer fee (I asked them to remove this from the original negotiated price of $18,210 so they could add it back on at the bottom of the sales invoice, where it's pre-printed.)
    $125 dealer fee for tags
    $115 tags
    $19,561.94 OTD

I was helping a relative shop for the car and I found the two dealers in the area pretty immovable on price beyond their only internet offers. Both were initially willing to let me walk. Of course, where I live on Long Island, I'd have 10 dealers to choose from in the same radius, so there might be more competition. I would have liked another $500 off in addition to the dealer fee, which is largely profit.

I got a quote of $18,500 OTD for an i touring automatic. I emailed to a few dealers and ask if any of them could beat that price. I received one response saying they could but the difference won't be that much. Is it any good? Tax is 7% here.

    thanks,

    Hello,

Been shopping for 2010 Mazda 3i touring
    sedan with Auto/Bose/Moonroof.

Quoted 18720 (no tax in my state)

This was quoted by general sales manager and confirmed.
    The invoice is 19489.

Seems like a good deal to me at $769 under invoice?
However I know how these quotes can someti
es be when they tell you that "Internet quotes do not include floor mats so that will be $1,500 higher" and so I have to walk and feel like I wasted my time!

    Any advice? Thanks.

Looking to purchase a 3 Hatchback model/sport with Moonroof , Bose Option and Auto trans, MSRP aprox 22,700. What is best price less tax you have received? Am in Denver Colorado market area.
My company offers the Ford X plan, which in Mazda is the S plan, does anyone know if this is still available for 2010? Brochure this year does not mention Mazda like they did last year.

    Thanks

I'm looking for a 2010 mazda3 GT hatchback auto. with no options near Oakland Ca. $1000 below invoice is the best offer so far. They said from Nov the price will be much higher so got less than a week to decide. I've not bought a car before so I've no idea if this is as good as it sounds. Any recommendations?

Unless you're in a rush, I'd recommend that you continue your research. Work your way through all the local dealerships; it's easy with email. Quick sales obviously benefit salesmen rather than buyers.

Additional info would most likely be helpful.

    2.5L
Automatic - but they call this a 6-speed manual overdrive transmission - salesman says its the standard with this model.
    Moonroof
    Mazda3 S hatchback
everything else standard, nothing optional included.

    Location Oak Forest, Illinois 60452

The 6-speed manual overdrive transmission is NOT an automatic. It is a manual transmission (as in clutch & row your own gears). A 5-speed Sport Automatic is optional.

Picked up a Mazda3 s GT 4-door, black mica with black leather, 6MT, moonroof/6CD/Bose, and wheel locks from Ourisman in Laurel, MD. Internet quote was $23,060 OTD, after a visit and some haggling it came to $22,704 OTD, or $21,290 before TTL...roughly $1k under invoice. Not a perfect transaction, but overall a good experience.
  • soikidosoikido Member Posts: 2
Hey guy, I was in MD helping my sister to buy a car within 5 days. I picked the 2010 Mazada3 cuz my mom doesn't like the look of the civic nor the interior of a boring corolla. we own 2 Honda Accords so this was a change. Unfortunately the Mazda dealerships in this area were not very honest. They made up random fees and programs to try to trick you to pay more.

4 days before I left MD (Nov 11th) I requested online quotes from dealerships via edmunds.com. One dealership is willing to offer 17,800 for the car. Since there is a dealership name "congressional mazda" on Rockville Pike, MD right by my house (which they called and emailed me back without a quote) I decided to see if they would do a price match. After i took a test drive, set down with the internet salesman, he gave me as offer of the MSRP... (he got to me kidding me where is my internet quote?). I took out my iPhone email and said "Hey look, this is what I got from other dealership, can you match that?" he said, "damn, that's a very low number, I can try to see if my manager offers that." then he added "I know how this dealership do business, they charge you 400$ dealer fees on top of the processing fee, I would not lie to you and we only charge an 100$ processing fee that's it."

He came back and said "our manage would match it and we cannot go any lower". I asked him give me a OTD price please, he gave me a TTL 18,850$ = 17,800 + 750 destination + 300??. I was very confused at first because 17,800 + 750 = 18,550 not 18,850. What is that 300$? I asked. He said "if you compare to Apple to Apple, we need to compare the fees too you know" he told me he would minus 100$ so the "fees" for you would be 300+ 100 processing + TTL + tags

I asked him then "why would I want to buy from you if you would charge the same fees, plus can you prove to me that the other dealer charge that 400$". He just kept on saying Apple to Apple, Apple to Apple, he did not willing to take that 300$ off. I told him "I would have to think about it, I appreciate your time." and I walked out. It's not that I am poor and not willing to pay an extra 300$, I just found it's very unreasonable the way he does business. Apple to Apple my *beep*

Anyway my OTD price from "congressional mazda" on Rockville Pike, MD was 20,350$.

I ordered my car from other dealer but my family havn't picked it up yet. I will post my experience with this dealership after we pick up the car.

I live in the Dallas area and was looking to see if anyone has bought one of these and for what price. The only option I want in this hatchback is the bose/moonroof. Maybe the tech. pkg too (since my wife wants the indicators that tell you when a car is in your blindspot...think this only comes w/ tech. pkg).

    Any prices will be appreciated!

If anyone has leased this car for the 42mo/42K miles (or any lease) on mazda's sign and drive, how much did you pay/mo with the bose/moonroof option?

    Thanks

  • reignreign Member Posts: 20
Z2A, are you saying you got the bose/moonroof package and not just the moonroof? Did your car come with the floormats, homelink rearview mirror in the price you paid?

Edmunds site gave me a price of $21.325 (invoice) for bose/moonroof, homelink mirror, and floormats.

    Thanks

First time car buyer here and a bit overwhelmed with the process. I have gotten 3 dealership quotes. The lowest I have received to date is $20,940 (which is includes destination, $1192 in local taxes, and $165 DMV). The TMV price is $19,760 --- if I include taxes and DMV, the total is $21,117. This is for the basic 2010 S Sport - no additional options. If feels like it is a fair deal but am wondering whether it might be possible to do better. I live in the NY/NJ/CT tri-state area.

any insights would be most appreciated!

Thanks very much in advance for your help!

I was offered $500 under invoice without any negotiating for a 2010 Mazda 3 GT here in California. You should shoot for a least that on your deal. Just my two cents.

Last week I purchased a 2010 Mazda3i Touring automatic for a family member from Russell & Smith Mazda in Houston. The final price (as advertised) was $16,988 with 0% financing for 36 months. Texas has a 6% sales tax rate so the OTD price including TT&L was $18,270. Very easy transaction negotiated over the phone and by email with no hidden fees or dealer add-ons, and no high pressure extended warranty pitches, etc. I live near the dealership and it seemed to be a good price, so I did not shop it too hard. I was somewhat surprised that there was no additional savings available if I did not take the interest free financing. I was also looking at a 2010 Mazda6i Sport, but the lower price, interest free money, and resale value of the Mazda3 made it a better value for my needs.

I found this site (along with Edmunds.com) helpful during my purchase so thought I would pass along my experience and what I paid.

I got the 2010 Mazda3 iTouring in Durham NC on November 28, 2010 at Sport Durst (they were good to work with). I paid $18,123 before NC fees ($1057.76 total fees including $450 documentation). So out the door the charge was $19,181). For this price, I got the standard touring package, moonroof and wheel locks and the large spoiler (they came down on the spoiler).

They would not budge on the satellite radio which I really wanted and they wanted to charge me about $650 to add it it since they'd have to install it. They did give me a lower price for a separate one that was not Mazda but a few people told me I could just get that later at Best Buy for about $100.

I got this price at 2 dealers here and one was about 600 more. I found the trick was to find the car that has almost everything you want at a dealer - then go for that one. They are much more able to come down if it's on their lot and only needs a few things added to it. I started out at Edmunds and got them all to email me then we continued emailing before I visited. Boy it sure helped when they gave me a number - I could just pull my email on my phone and say, hey this guy is offering this and that and show them. Big help!

I got all the invoice numbers at Edmunds and wrote it out and emailed it and covered it in person with them (knowing they could still come down) - they gave me some flack but this helped me know I was getting a fair deal. Then I took a break, crunched the numbers somewhere else and then called them to do the final negotiation, then came back and picked it up. I did get the $500 Mazda loyalty and the $500 off because I financed but I got 0% - that was a snap and no hidden charges.

Hit me back to let me know your thoughts on the price I paid or if I can answer any questions. Thanks.

Bought a 2010 Mazda 3 GT with Tech package, Moonroof/Bose package, and Homelink. MSRP was $26,115, invoice was $24,249. I paid $23,079 minus the $500 loyalty rebate for a total final price of $22,579 +TTL ($1670 under invoice). I was able to finance for 3 yrs 0% interest as well. All in all, a good experience from Browning Mazda Cerritos (Los Angeles)

Best price I could find in San Diego for the Mazda 3 i Touring with the moonroof/bose package was $18,800. This includes the $750 destination fee. This was at the southernmost Mazda dealer. The other dealers wouldn't budge at $19,900.
  • ncwakeboarderncwakeboarder Member Posts: 5
Was that out the door including TT&L? That's roughly what I paid out the door including the spoiler.

Thanks so much for your response! I have since renegotiated the price and am at $350 below invoice, plus $5500 on a trade in for my 2002 VW Jetta (which is good and saves me $460 in taxes). I am doubtful I will get much better, everything considered.

I take it you've already tried the Atlanta dealers? It's a shame that most of them are so dreadful to deal with (all three located in the NE and NW areas suburbs of Atlanta, especially). I live in Atlanta and ended up going to Mazda Knoxville in Knoxville, TN to buy my '06 MZ3...but that was four years ago.

Did I read correctly that it's the i Touring 4-door that you're interested in? Automatic or manual transmission? Which options do you want and what color(s)?

Josh is the guy who helped me at Sport Durst. I think its best to go to Edmunds.com and request that dealers send you a quote and then start the emailing with them.

ncwakeboarder: Yea been doing that getting spammed like crazy haha! Went through this 2 years ago but I ended up getting a job overseas so now I'm at it all over again. The annoying thing is when they don't really read the emails and just keep saying to come in/ask what options over and over again even when I say I'm out of town and want the quotes ahead of time @_@

igozoomzoom- Yes looking for the i-touring 4 door, automatic, silver (or gunmetal blue, but not necessary). Atlanta dealers aren't the nicest... I've gone to so many in the past (honda and toyota too).

Call Josh at Sport Durst and tell him Paul Hayes recommended him...thats exactly what I got but I also got the wheel locks and spoiler, moon roof, bose all for 19.1 out the door. He is a college student between undergrad and grad school but he was a decent guy - they have to go check with mgmt on everything anyway but you will like him...you could get it rolling on the phone with him. Might want to check on financing - I got the 0 interest rate and it was easy.
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
Socal dealers are the same. I've contacted a bunch by email and they ask if it's a lease or purchase ... as if that matters to the negotiated price. Grumble.
  • igozoomzoomigozoomzoom Member Posts: 801
I did a little research and here's what I found-

It looks like there has been a base price increase at some point since the 2010 model was introduced. The base price is now $19,475, but it was originally $19,100. If you can find one of these, they've been sitting on the lot longer and you may be able to get the best deal because of that.

Gray Epperson Mazda (Cleveland, TN), Keith Hawthorne Mazda (Gastonia, NC) and Paramount Mazda (Hickory, NC) all have at least one @ $19,100 in Gunmetal Blue. Jim Ellis Mazda in Marietta, GA has one with the Moonroof/6CD/Bose package at the lower base price also in Gunmetal Blue ($20,495).

Mazda Knoxville (TN) has four silver ones at $19,100. Montgomery Mazda (Charlotte, NC) has one with the auto/compass mirror for $19,300. Jay Mazda (Columbus, GA) has one with the Moonroof/6CD/Bose priced the same as the Blue one at Jim Ellis Mazda.

I'd start by contacting all of those dealers for quotes. Try using the 'Search Inventory' feature on Mazda's website, then you can click 'Request Quote' on each particular model that interests you...

    Good luck!

Ok I'm getting a few quotes:

17.8K OTD including taxes (NC) and financing (silver, white is a little bit cheaper I believe)
18.5k OTD including taxes and financing (black.. not the color I wanted, but seems like theres a few installed options, nothing big
and a few others that are way up there and are really hard to get answers from..

    Does the 17.8k sound good?

This quote is for MSRP $20,590 in silver. Also qualify for 0% 36 mo financing. Is this a good price? Is it possible to get this car OTD $20K with 0% 36 mo financing in So. Ca., which sale tax at 9.75%.
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
I was quoted 1800 below MSRP on a car without much effort. Seems you're in the same place. You can push it but to hit 20k OTD you'll need the car at around 18k as title, license and doc fees should add at least $200. Do you really think they have $800 to give?
