This thread helped me decide on the Mazda 3 so I figured it would be the best place to ask about the best price. I've signed a P and S agreement for a 2010 i-Touring Auto, with the Bose / Sunroof package for $18,100.00 near Boston. The dealer fees are $300 like everywhere in Massachusetts and are not included in that number. The MSRP is $20,870.00. Is this a good enough deal to jump at?

Thanks for the help in advance.

My sister has the same car. She bought in Maine the same as yours. She paid $ 17750.00 . Then add 6% sales tax $1065. $299.00 Doc Fees and title fee $26.00 and she took it the town hall and paid an excise tax around $790.00. She loves to shop and dicker she told them that the car had felt for carpet and alot of plastic and was going to look else where. They called her and dropped the price.I told her the felt and plastic was to make car lighter for better gas milage.
It's a nice car, but the gas milage she says is not so great. I told that if she would slow down it would get better. She went to a tint shop and had a clear plastic mask on the hood to avoid rock chips in winter. You can't see it at all. Now she wants to have heated front seats put in for $850.00. It is 11 degrees here.
    I think you did well.
For $2K more she could of got a grand touring.

Sent out 10 emails to various internet departments for a Mazda3. So far only 3 have followed what I wrote. I listed the style, colors, exact options I wanted, only send me an email and when I'd buy. I received a batch of emails saying, "We'll call you in an hour. Please send to us the following..." And then they asked for the same info I provided.

A few places wrote back with totally wrong info - like cars with different packages than I requested. Two quoted the sticker. That group was baffled when I told them no thanks. "But why don't you want the moonroof?" or "So you want a stripped car? Those aren't made." I'd hardly call a grand touring stripped.
  • puffin1puffin1 Member Posts: 276
Yup, the GT is loaded with options. I never buy from anyone that thinks you're stupid.
My next car, I'm going through Fighting Chance.Com My wife's hair stylist (Who is tight with her money did It) She really got a deal. I think one of the guys who works here on Edmunds wrote about it.It's a fax attack. Check it out.
Buying a car is so stressfull.

after about half a year, finally pulled the trigger. today I purchased a i touring automatic with moonroof and no other add-ons. OTD (tax is 7% here) price is $19,500 (without the moonroof should be around $18,300). the experience is fairly pleasant, with no tricks played and no pressure on extra warranty. not a great price but good enough for me. thanks for everyone I've got a lot of information here.

btw I'm in NJ so if anyone wants to know the dealer name, let me know.

Dealer is offering a GT 5 door HB to me for 1150 under invoice. Not MSRP but invoice. Can't bring myself to pull the trigger. The car is nice but I think i'll go nuts driving a 167 hp FWD car.

Curious. There are quite a few FWD cars with a lot more horsepower.
  • blueguydotcomblueguydotcom Member Posts: 6,249
HP won't change the fact FWD isn't to my liking. A 260 hp FWD car is just as bad as a 120 hp FWD car. Still the wrong wheels.
  • puffin1puffin1 Member Posts: 276
    My Acura Type S H B was 200hp or 197 6 spd. and it ran great .
However, a Mada 3 is made alot lighter for fuel ecomy and price. You have felt carpet hidden by a capeted floor mats.I hope Mazda got rid ofthe RSA Eagle tires and the cheap plastic interior. The tires were noisy and if you got 15K out of them you did well did well.I really don't care for Mazda any more, but They are better than a Civic.I think they are over priced not to mention that smile they wear, but to each his own. You do get Zoom Zoom. I hope they insulated the hood and got rid of the ash tray.
I think they would have a hot seller if they offer a 2.0 liter 30 mpg, and offerd a moonroof, and offered a HB 2.0 and offer alot of options.Gas is going back up andI wouldn't want a 2.5 Unless it was a VW TDI maybe $1500.00 ,or 2k above Mazda's GT HB but, a more solid car and 40 mpg.Merry Chrismas.
Now watch all the zoom zooms come after me. :shades:

    Looks like good price

    I might visit them tomorrow
    thanks

We closed the deal at $20,500 OTD, $18,337 +TTL (9.75% LA county tax rate). And still able to take advantage of 0% 36 mo. financing. We had great experience with this So. Cal dealer, who was very helpful and attentive. I would recommend them to any one who is interested in a Mazda. Now...is the time to buy!

I went through this highly useful thread, and I got some idea of how much people have paid for their cars. But I couldnt get a clear idea of how much was paid for the model that I have mentioned in the title. The Edmunds Invoice price is $19,051. And I suppose it would cost around $2K on top of it for the mandatory charges.

I live in Virginia. And I have asked for Dealer quotes using this site now. I await their replies tomorrow.

Also, is a HB really more expensive than the sedan version? That is what the Edmunds pricing seems to indicate.

Any feedback is highly appreciated, bargaining as smartly as some of the posters here have done, is not really my forte.... :) Any advice is very welcome. I could definitely stand to learn from you all -- thanks!

Don't forget, you will need to add the destination charge to that which will come out to a an invoice price of $19,801.
I bought mine (via lease) for a price of $19,950. The dealer originally stated he would sell it to me for invoice ($19801), but after I signed my lease paperwork, they had changed it to $19950 (grrr...). So, you should be able to get this model for around what I paid. But, make sure you read the paperwork before signing it.

Dealers have a way of changing the price on what you verbally agreed upon.

Yes, the hatchback is more expensive than the 4 door model.

I've had my car for about 1mo now. I really like it (it's my wifes car, and I usually drive something with more power), and is a lot better than the '06 Vibe she had. But, backseat area is kinda smaller than the Vibe, but overall, my wife and I really like her car.

When you are bargaining with the salesman, just tell them straight up how much you want to pay (like invoice), and they will most likely tell you a higher amount. Tell them you already had a quote for invoice pricing from a dealership further away from this one. He will agree to match the price. But, beware of the other things he will try adding on to the price (like higher apr%, undercoat, extended warranty, etc).

If it were me, I would never pay for any extra's like what I wrote above, and would try get my own financing and not from dealership <--- they can easily add on a % point or 2 without you knowing. Most salesmen have a bad rap, and this is the reason why (what I wrote above).

Good luck and if you have any other questions, let me know!
BTW - I think I could have gotten one w/ more options and probably would have only increased my lease payment by $10/mo or so. But, since it's my wifes car, I didn't she she doesn't get into all the bells/whistles like I do.

The sale price is not disclosed on the lease contract, only the payment and buyout are disclosed.

How do you know they changed it? Did your payment change?

reign, that's all very good advice!

The best thing a new car buyer can do is shop for financing and get approved before walking into a dealership! The overwhelming majority of consumers don't realize that loans are just another product being sold by the dealer for a profit (which means they're also negotiable). The only way to know what a fair and realistic interest rate will be is to comparison shop. You can apply for a car loan on up2drive.com (endorsed by Edmunds) and should also try your local bank and any credit unionsn or similar.

For most people, I HIGHLY recommend trying to negotiate via email with a dedicated Internet Sales Manager (or similar title). It worked very well for me when I bought my '06 Mazda3 and I've helped a few friends and family members do the same since then. Every detail discussed is documented in the email exchanges, so you have hard proof of what was said and any prices quoted, etc. It's critical to print those out when you eventually go to the dealership! I even take my laptop just in case an unscrupulous (redundant) sales manager tries to claim the printouts were altered or some other bullsh!t...and, if you have a mobile broadband card or there's a Wifi connection closeby, you can pull up Edmunds, KBB, CarsDirect and any other website that shows invoice pricing, current incentives and even Dealer Holdback (they foam at the mouth over that one)! :surprise:  :P

What are you talking about? Not sure about your lease contract, but on my contract it states "Agreed upon value of the vehicle" IS as it says. So, this is the selling price. I have a Chase lease agreement.

I know they changed it because we verbally agreed the selling price would be invoice which is lower than the selling price they wrote. I wanted my payments to be a certain amount, so I didn't say anything about it. It probably would have only lowered my payment by about $2/mo anyways.

Interesting, you are right. That is rather new. Im in CT, and the sale price has not been disclosed on the contract in the past.

Did they show you the invoice when you agreed to the deal?

Thanks a lot for the response. Do you live in the DC area?

More responses would be highly useful, but I guess we are not getting too many of those.

Its pretty much redundant, but would like to state it anyways: Feedback like yours and of course the other useful details that other users have posted is what makes sites like Edmunds extremely indispensable.
  • reignreign Member Posts: 20
the invoice we agreed upon was the same as what edmunds states on their site ($19,801), but I noticed that the contract now states $19,950. Although not a big deal monetarily since I got my payments where I wanted them at. Just didn't like the 'ol switcheroo of pricing on the lease agreement.
BTW to the poster, I live in the Dallas area.

johnnybhai- I checked out the numbers for you here on Edmunds and over at TrueCar.com:

    Edmunds
    Invoice- $19,801
    TMV- $20,363 (True Market Value)

    TrueCar
    TrueCost- $19,703
    GREAT Price- $19,627
    GOOD Price- $20,081
*start at the GREAT price and don't pay over the GOOD price, according to them.

Neither price includes taxes, tag/licenses, title fees or any accessories or options.

The 'Search Inventory' function on the MazdaUSA website is a very useful resource, if you aren't already familiar with it! Just go to MazdaUSA.com, click 'Shopping Tools' then 'Search Inventory'. Click on the Mazda3 5-door and enter your Zip Code and choose the search radius (50-250 miles).

Just for the heck of it, I entered Zip Code 23219 (Richmond, VA) and searched within 150 miles. There are 180 Mazda3 s Sport 5-door AT in that area (and 97 have no additional options). My suggestion would be to look thru the inventory, find the ones in the color(s) that you like and click on the 'Request Quote' for at least one from each dealership within range.

By the way, it looks like Black, Graphite and Silver make up about 55% of the inventory in this area. The Gunmetal Blue and Celestial Blue appear to be the least common, so you might not be able to negotiate quite as good of a deal on those.

I think you should be able to get another 2K off, i was offered iTouring for $15,500 from $19,450.
  • schuko5schuko5 Member Posts: 1
The car - 2010 Celestial Blue Mica Mazda3 s Sport /w moonroof/speakers package. (Automatic Sport Trans.)

After the dealer worked out his numbers, the invoice was around 21,000. Somehow being a recent college grad, they said that I was eligible for the "s" plan and that i could save some money. They worked my final price out including tax, titles, etc. to be around 22,199

Is this a good price, or can it still be negotiated?

Any and all help, or pricing info would be helpful.

2010 3i touring with auto trans...17,223 includes destination charge...
    2010 3i sport 5-speed....14,842 including destination charge
2010 3i sport automatic trans...15,645 including destination charge
What do you think of these offers? They are also giving a $500 credit plus an additional $500 credit for any honda or toyota owners as well as 0% financing!
I have not spoke to dealer yet and dont know if these two credits have been rolled into the price or not. If not and they let you have 0% financing on top of it....any comments? This is from dealership on rt 22 in new jersey.

Are these OTD prices that include taxes, TTL, and all other crap they charge. If that is the case i think iTouring for $17,223 is good.
  • leadtongueleadtongue Member Posts: 13
seaurchin....you posted here you were quoted 15,500otd for 3i touring with auto....then in the civic forum you quote a price of $17,500?
  • mnbvcxzmnbvcxz Member Posts: 7
I 1st started looking at a white one
    window sticker was $17155
I got prices from 15155 all the way up to 16500
then I saw a gun metal blue one and got it for 15155 0 down at 2.9 for 6 years which is $252 per month for a total of 18144 otd
I think you might have the wrong person
I was never looking for a 31 touring with auto

I was able to take delivery just a few hours ago of a 2010 Mazda 3 i Touring automatic taking advantage of Mazda's 0% for 60 months which ended tonight. The car's color is the gunmetal blue mica with no options and the dealer threw the all weather mats for free.

    Price: $18,483.00
    Taxes: $1547.95
    Mazda cash rebate: -$500
    Honda Owner cash rebate: -$500
    Deposit: -$500
    Registration: $200
    Dealer Fee: $299
    Total Owed: $19029.95
    0% 60 months = $317.16

Ramsey Mazda is awesome! Great salespeople, managers and finance. It was such a hassle free and friendly experience.

is 20k out the door price possible for this car? the 2010 mazda 3 hatchback, automatic, with moonroof/bose package?

i read in another forum a guy paying 22k OTD for a mazdaspeed3! so maybe there's hope for the 20k out the door? what do u guys think?
  • seaurchinseaurchin Member Posts: 57
Hi there, i configured the Mazda3 you described, HB, auto with Bose came out to $22,485+$2,000 tax + 337 Title and Registration comes to $24,822. So you are getting 5K off. If you can get that deal it would be pretty sweet.

    Keep us updated.

Hi. I'd like your comments on this deal. It's for a 2010 3i Sport, manual transmission and no options. The MSRP is $16,955, and the dealer quoted a price of $16,142 (before all rebates, taxes, etc). He said that was the invoice price. Edmunds invoice is a bit lower but that excludes the regional advertising fee, and the $16,142 does match the invoice price including the fee. Is there much chance that I can do better? This price does slightly beat the Edmunds TMV. The two rebates available (for Mazda owners and for financing) are pretty attractive. Thanks!

the one i got was a Mazda 3 i sport 4 door manual transmission window sticker was $16955 no options
I got it for $15155 that's $252 a month for 6 years from liberty Mazda in Hartford
if you go there ask for Howie and tell him Neal and Megan sent you
    good luck
  • zott912zott912 Member Posts: 4
Thanks! I'm "Way down" in Stamford but it may be worth a trip. I just want to verify if your price of $15,155 before or after any rebates though? I ask because I see that a $500 rebate is available for current Mazda owners and $500 for the financing program as well. My price after these two rebates would supposedly be $15,142, and of course the salesman has said he can't do any better (we'll see). Thanks for any input.

That anyone has seen the sand colored ,or light goldcolored Mazda 3 on the right lower corner of your screen on the road. Why sow a color you don't offer?

because they didn't have a $500 rebate at the time
