Have you taken out the hitch? Some people have reported similar sounds with the hitch in.
  • lagerman72lagerman72 Member Posts: 5
Unfortuneately I've never had the pleasure of towing yet, so I haven't put the hitch in. But thank you and I will keep it in mind if I do.

Check your owners manual. They probably mention them somewhere.

I was under the impression that the cutouts were drain hole locations for tubes, such as the tubes used in Bak Flip tonneau cover install. The local Linex Installer removes the covers and then replaces tham after spraying, he alos referred to them as drain holes.

    2007 Toyota Tundra Dbl Cab 4x4 4.7L
    Nautical Blue
    Step Tubes
    Underneath tool box
    Rear Sliding Glass
    DVD Player

I have had the truck for a few days now and love it so far. It gets lots of stares everywhere I go. Will take it on my first trip this weekend so I will be able to see how the HWY MPG is. I was able to get 2.9% for 63 months and about $3k off the sticker price and I ordered it at the end of March.

Congratulations. Was your finance rate based on incentives at the time you ordered or when you took delivery?
  • driver56driver56 Member Posts: 408
Just saw a new Tundra rounding the corner on my way home from a job. Nice looking truck! It was a sand color, metallic, very nice. They look to me like a nicer looking version of the Tacoma, but with a Ram look. The Nautical Blue should look sharp.

    Enjoy!

Are most likely for the in bed rail cargo system mounts.
07 GM fullsizers also have them but they have plastic
    plugs in them.................
  • tomnfltomnfl Member Posts: 9
The finance rate was from when I took delivery. I had already been pre approved through my bank for 5.5% and they offered the 2.9%. It saved me about $3500 in the long run.
  • tomnfltomnfl Member Posts: 9
My first impression when I saw the new Tundra was the Ram as well.
  • ishinoishino Member Posts: 4
well i ordered mine today, should be in on the 21st. double cab sr5, 4.7l v8 in silver sky metallic. can't wait!
  • anythngbutgmanythngbutgm Member Posts: 4,277
yeah, that is the color my buddy got. Not my favorite, but it works. It's probably easier to keep clean than his old black Sierra (Although that thing spent most of the time in the service bay so it probably never even got a chance to get it dirty)

Does anyone know how to disable the seatbelt/door and key alarm?
And YES I do wear my seatbelt but I do not feel the need to have a buzzer tell me to put it on.
  • drfilldrfill Member Posts: 2,484
    Almost......

ALMOST as good, as fast, as tough as a Tundra....

But not quite gonna make it, even at $45k.

So rest easy, Tundra owners, you do own the baddest half-ton on the planet! ;)

I like the sound of that 6 speed auto. And what a beast of a truck!
  • braccugliabraccuglia Member Posts: 6
I would love to know this information too. This is one of the most annoying seat belt alarms I have heard in a vehicle. I would also like to silence the keyless entry and alarm horn beeps that came with the vehicle. The dealer that I bought it from didn't think there was anything they could do about this.
  • braccugliabraccuglia Member Posts: 6
    edge45,
I just took my new Tundra into my local dealer yesterday and referenced your post as a possible solution to my serious bounce problem on the South Orange County freeways. The dealer took it for a test drive along with 2 other brand new Tundras and they said they all bounced the same way and that they couldn't do anything about it. They said they did have the equipment to road force balance the tires. It wasn't clear from your post if the specialist that Toyota sent in actually did a road force balance or something else to "fix" the problem. Can you clarify what the specialist did if you know? I am probably going to talk to my regional rep tomorrow and see what they can do.

I am even more irritated with my local dealer since when I picked up my shiny new truck yesterday after their test drive, it had a big chip and crack in the center of the windshield that noone felt the need to tell me about until I drove away and noticed it. I am going in tomorrow morning to demand a new windshield. I love the truck and it is my first Toyota but this experience is getting ugly.
  • bugchuckerbugchucker Member Posts: 118
Didn't you inspect the truck before you drove off the dealer lot?
  • braccugliabraccuglia Member Posts: 6
I did inspect the truck for dings on the panels but I couldn't see the chip in the windshield until it was more obvious out in the sunlight. They brought the truck inside the carport area so I didn't notice it until I drove outside. They agreed that they caused and they are going to look at it more tomorrow morning.
  • bugchuckerbugchucker Member Posts: 118
My dealer gave me free glass chip repair and ding removal. It should be no big deal.

Well I finally received my new 5.7 DC Limited with Nav and things. I ordered it on February 23rd and picked it up on May 16. Traded in a 2005 Ford F150. So far 220 miles on it. Gas so far has been a disappointment but that will improve. The drivability is superior, the fit and finish is better, the quiet ride is awesome as is the sound system. The engine and Tranny is so far ahead of the Detroit 3 that it's like a whole new world!! Wow! Amazing what Americans can make with the proper management. Detroit, are you listening? I doubt it but you should get off your high paid horses and look at what can be done.

I have switched over and will never go back. And just think, my first GM car was in 1960 and first Ford was in 1971. How many can Detroit afford to lose? But Americans haven't lost work, they have just switched companies as they should. Get out of those unions that are screwing you over guys, the sooner the better!!!

  • yota4trukyota4truk Member Posts: 34
yep they are drain holes but were used during the manufacturing painting stage of the bed,,,,, my sprayed in liner covers them.....
  • yota4trukyota4truk Member Posts: 34
nope, Toyota National HQ said that they were used during the painting process for the bed,?????????????? oh well they are covered up with spray liner now anyway!!!!!
  • yota4trukyota4truk Member Posts: 34
you call it "bounce" is it like a "shiver" ,not just on a significant bump, but even on a patchy rough road? Guess it could also be called "rebound","hop","flex", ?? Haven't confronted the dealer yet. Don't like it much though/.,/.,
  • braccugliabraccuglia Member Posts: 6
If feels like you are hitting low speedbumps about 5 per second. I have trouble keeping my foot stable on the gas pedal. They are being caused by the small seams in the concrete highway but the suspension is not obsorbing them well at all. The dealer told me that the springs in the rear are not compressed at all when there is no load in the back so little bumps just cause lots of bounce. It may also be worse because of the particular spacing of the seams with respect to the wheelbase on this truck. Anyway, it is not very pleasant. Luckily I don't have to drive that section of freeway everyday or I would go nuts. Maybe there is a softer replacement spring that can be put in if I don't plan on pulling big loads?
  • braccugliabraccuglia Member Posts: 6
They attempted the glass repair yesterday but the chip was still pretty visible and it could be felt on the outside. They ended up ordering a new windshield like I requested from the start.
  • bugchuckerbugchucker Member Posts: 118
I have the same. Isn't the Nav great!I used the voice recognition to find my way to work this morning.

Mine just fits in the garage. The sonar goes nuts when I park.
  • tomnfltomnfl Member Posts: 9
I discovered this morning that if you allow the seatbelt alarm to sound off for about 10 - 15 seconds it stops and never comes back on. The light blinks and thats it.

Has anybody tried to install fog lights on the DC? It appears to be prewired. There are plugs attached close to the fog light holes on both sides. Given that the power mirror and back up camera are prewired, I hope so. If it is prewired, do you have to install a new light stalk? I am looking for a less expensive atternative here.

Is a 6-speed manual tranny avalible for the 4.7 liter V8 or is it mainly automatic now??
  • kdhspyderkdhspyder Member Posts: 7,160
    All Tundra's are automatics now.
  • wolfkillrwolfkillr Member Posts: 8
Picked up my new limited 4x4 slate grey 5.7 dbl. cab on may 5th. And i'm really glad i choose Tundra. I have driven and reserched all makes, and it came down to the G.M.C.and Tundra. What sold it for me was the the 5.7 6-speed combo. The back in you're seat power is unbeleivable!!I'm 60-years old, and the power reminds me of the muscle cars of the 60's.Toyota also has the build quality that is the second reason i choose Tundra. I sold my 95 Camry with 200,000 miles that i bought new, and my wife has a 03 Avalon, and not a problem with either one.In my opion the current major 3 companies are in major trouble, and it's sad it finally came to this, as my first car was a 51 Ford crown vict. To quote a phrase from an old country song,"Turn Out The Lights, The Partys Over"

    congrats wolfkillr!

    enjoy that beast.

I came on here to ask that exact question. I'm sorry I don't have an answer for you, but I am glad to know its not just my truck. Anyone else?
  • crazycanuck4crazycanuck4 Member Posts: 17
I checked back with the local dealer and have seen two other DC's sprayed. They do cover the plates with linex. However, I will use them to place the drain holes thru from the bak flip cover (once I get it).

Accessories, I am tired of dealing with Canadian accessories stores, both online and shop front. Our prices compared to U.S. shops are disgustingly expensive. Trying to bring parts in from the states is equally expensive once duty and brokerage fees and taxes are added. Also, they have few brands and tell me they don't have certain parts because the manufacturer doesn't make that item, eventhough I have spoke with the manufacturer and they say they are now shipping the item(s) in question. I am a little jealous of my southern friends. thinking of making a trip down south!

Overall impression thus far of my beast is excellent. The ride is a little stiffer than my 03 access cab but the seats tend to even out the stiffness.
  • yota4trukyota4truk Member Posts: 34
Yep!!!! I figured it may be a suspension design problem, maybe heavier-duty shocks??????? I am going to the dealer today and register , just to get on the record.....

I am looking for some feedback from current Tundra owners. I have a 28" race car trailer and currently pull it with a 2500HD. I am looking for a new truck and want to consider the Tundra. Does anyone have any experience with pulling a large load with this truck. I will be pulling about 7,000 lbs and although they claim it can do it I m nervous making a switch to a "smaller" style truck. Any opinions?
  • wolfkillrwolfkillr Member Posts: 8
Bugchuker, i was talking to another Tundra owner last night, and he was hitched to a 30-foot Airstream trailer with a tongue wt. of 6800 lbs.He had a crewmax 4x4 5.7ltr.and told me he was extremely happy with his truck, and pulled the trailer with no effort. He had a 06 Tundra and the 07 is no comparison. Hope this helps..

I found out how to silence all of the alarm beeps and horn sounds. The horn alerts when you arm and disarm the car were configurable in the alarm documentation booklet. They were easy to turn off. The keyless entry beeps on my particular model had to be disabled at the dealer with a handheld scanner device that the alarm technician had to use. If you have the multifunction display option in the center of your instrument panel, then you can configure the alarm beeps yourself using the select/reset buttons on the dash. It is all in the manual. Now my Tundra only flashes the lights when I arm and disarm.

Does anyone know how soon the factory oil should be changed? I have heard that its ok to take it the full 5,000 miles but then there are some who say that you shouldn't. Any other opinions?
  • usvet92usvet92 Member Posts: 19
I'm sure it will do it, but I have a simple answer for you. Go to your dealer and explain your situation. Tell them that you want to give it a "test-tow" and if it handles it well then you'll buy one. I know the dealers in my area would definately do it if they thought they'd make a sale. You could also start with your Regional Toyota Representative. Find out who that is and ask them for assistance.
  • usvet92usvet92 Member Posts: 19
My dealer said 5k but I just went ahead and did it at 3k just because it's just instinct for me. When I took delivery the dealer said 5k though.
  • tomnfltomnfl Member Posts: 9
The dealer told me 5k as well but I think I may do it sooner too.
  • kdhspyderkdhspyder Member Posts: 7,160
Toyota says to do it at 5K. It's right in the Service Manual. Every Toyota made for the US now has a 5K or 6 mo oil/filter interval.
  • iqbaldhillon2iqbaldhillon2 Member Posts: 116
It should be around every 5k miles, or 6 months whichever comes first.
  • cbuellgocbuellgo Member Posts: 12
I currently Own Both and The 2500 is now the beater and sits outside, They are both now work trucks and the tundra does the pulling and does it well! I only pull 5000 but that is in the mountains and I can pass on the flats or the mountains but there is a price, Fuel! ask it to go and it does. As for the Oil change, Its under warranty waiting until 5000 but, mine was drained and inspected at 750 and yes its like anything new shiny! leave the sparkles in as long as you like but mine will be changed twice before the 5K.........
