The picture of a new tacoma with the dirt bike in that back of the truck in the "05 Tacoma brochure is the pic I was reffering to and I know the specs states 2 tie downs. The reason I called toyota was because of the picture with the dirt bike in the back of the truck. It was tied down in the front of the bed in the pic and there are no tie downs there. I just thought toyota should not put a picture like that in the brochure if there are no tie downs up front. After speaking with them they explained how I could get the factory front tiedowns and they were very nice about it.
I'm not sure why you said "DO NOT show front tie downs" The pic I'm talking about SHOWS front tie downs, I have way too much to do to just sit here and make stuff up. Make sure in the future that you research what you are talking about before you start telling people they are wrong.
The only reason I posted the info in the previous post was in case there is someone else out there that needs the front tiedowns....I was just letting everyone know that they do make them and they are available.
With that being said, get a 05 tacoman brochure and find the picture that I was talking about and then you tell me where the bike is tied down, then you can come back here and tell us you were wrong. Maybe next time you should not be in such a hurry to prove someone wrong.
I went back to try and find earlier posts in your thread but did not. I too was dismayed at the picture of the dirtbike tied down to the front of the bed. I told my dealer I wanted the tacoma that was in the picture, complete with the front tie downs. They had no experience in this, so what they said they would do is order two D-rings and have them mounted up front. Are there special rings for the front? If you have a part number that would be great.
Also, I am concerned that they will not be able to take the stress of compressing a front fork to them. I was thinking about asking to have them bolted right to the frame rail. Any thoughts?
Thank You,
Justin
My earlier past was number 2695.
To answer your question "are there special rings for the front?"...Yes, I do not have the part number but if you go to this link you can order them there for about $19.00 and they have a instruction sheet that you can view. The front rings actually go on the side of the bed (in front) down low. If you check out the link, it will expalin it much better than I can.

I also thought about mounting some right through the bed into the frame but after getting under my truck and looking it will not work. The only place you could reach the frame would be where the front bed bolt goes through the bed and that is too far back for motorcycle tie downs. I'm thinking it may be best to just go to the dealer and have them order the kit above and also let them install it, the cost would be a little more but I think it would be covered under warranty.
Just give me a shout if I can help you in any way.
Thanks for the link. I printed it and will bring to dealer today. They are paying for this install, whichever part it may be. I simply played dumb. I bought an access cab, TRD Off-Road, even radiant red, exact same truck as the one in the picture with the dirtbike. I just said I expect to be able to tie my bike down the same way as my truck in the brochure and told them I want them to make it happen.
Any idea what the load rating is on this install? I'm dissapointed none of these options involve bolting to anything metal. Toyota may replace my bed if my bike tears these out, but I highly doubt they will replace my bike when it flies out the back.
I might just have to tie the two points together, across the bed, and ratchet away until I get a sense of how much pressure they can take before I risk it with my bike.
So, what's the load rating?
Thanks,
Justin
However, if you are talking about an actual film (like 3M protective film). Many Yota dealers have started putting this on their trucks as this is a huge help to the chipping issue.
1sttacoma - I haven't heard that white actually depreciates value. It is just one of the less marketable colors on resale. Doesn't change the actual value though I don't think. Colors like black, silver and believe it or not red are the more marketable colors.
Hope my 1 peso of knowledge helps!
I agree that the seats are very comfortable. Maybe too comfortable as I was getting tired! haha. The entire cab was a joy on my trip. Spacious, plenty of room for coffee and pop and cd and ac controls were easy to reach etc. Love it!
The total deal, parts and install cost me about $120. I got the exhaust and tip online from Full Line Exhaust. They have the cheapest tip prices out there IMO. I could have gotten the muffler a little cheaper on ebay but at full line if you order over $50 shipping is free so I just went ahead and ordered them both from there. Plus I have always gotten great service from them and very fast shipping (they will even send you a tracking number to track your package). I've used them several times before with absolutely no problems. The install only cost me $30. Just went to a local shop (not a name brand) and kept my stock piping as I have heard that this is the best way to go to keep your low end and since I tow a trailer I definitely wanted to keep my low end. They just cut the stock muffler out (whoa that thing is huge), welded in a piece of pipe to make up the difference in length, welded the Flowmaster in, cut the tailpipe off and welded the tip on. Did it while I watched..took a total of 30-40 minutes at best.
As for ground clearance, the Flowmaster appears to not hang as low as the stock one as it was mounted horizontally. The tip exits at the stock location so no difference there.
I'll try to get some pictures and maybe even a sound clip. Shoot me an email if you are interested in seeing them.
Go for it! You won't regret it. I know I don't!
Thanks,
Rob
For those who are experiencing the ticking noise, did it just come on over time, was it simply overlooked at the time you test drove your truck, or did you not pay close attention to the sound of the engine?
I will be test driving some soon and believe me, my ears will be listening for the ticking. What I want to know is if I purchase a truck with no ticking sound, will it stay that way!
Second question: Do the rear windows on the DC go all the way down? The Frontier salesman told me that their CC rear windows roll down 75% and not all the way. Just curious.
Thanks,
2) To be honest, I haven't even rolled down the back windows yet...It's been cold...
As for performance, the truck feels like it rides the same, although I haven't reset my computer yet. I hope to do that this weekend when I install my 12V bed outlet. I don't expect to see any increase in performance though as you usually won't see any with JUST an exhaust upgrade especially just a muffler upgrade. More than likely the only improvements I will see is a mile or two mpg increase due to the more free flowing muffler. If I had plans for other improvements such as an intake, chip, or something like that then I would expect the exhaust to enhance the improvements, but no plans for that.
As for the rear speakers in an access cab I am not sure as I have a doublecab. But I know many have changed thiers out over on customtaco, do a search over there I am quite sure you'll find what you need.
As for arbitration. The vehicle would have to be out of service for some time before most companies would even consider it (usually at least 30 days out of service). If the problem can't be duplicated it will make your arbitration difficult but not impossible.
For piece of mind I would have the dealer bleed the lines and replace the fluid and replace front and back brakes. Make sure they check the ABS system THOROUGHLY!
Sorry it took so long but here are some shots showing how the snugtop is attached to the bedrails. The clamps/clips make for a good solid connection but it limits movement of your railmounted d-clips.

Hope this helps,

Thanks in advance!
I'm not trying to be funny! This is very serious and they should know the consequences.
I'll be taking delivery on My Taco in a couple of weeks and hope that I don't have a problem like this. DBW is new to many manufacturers so they should be willing to give you the benefit of the doubt.
I ordered one from my Toyota dealer. $56.
You gotta get one.
Thanks for taking the time to take such detailed pics. I can now mount a ladder rack to MY truck.
Thanks again, and may your Taco give you hundreds of thousands of pleasureable miles!
Oh and this option only comes with the 6spd maunual transmission.
Thanks.
Another use is if your battery is dead, you may not need a jump start. Find a slight hill, get the truck rolling 15-20 mph, put it in a high gear (4th or 5th) and drop the clutch. This is essentially like kick starting a dirt bike or the pull-start on push lawnmowers. I have never used on any of my vehicles, but I helped someone push-start a dodge dakota 7 or 8 years ago.
Hope this helps!
