Saw a new-new Beetle today. The lavender color pretty much destroyed VWs stupid aims of pretending the car is somehow more masculine. And I noticed it has a face that reminds me of a dumb dog. Should continue to sell to the same demographic anyway.
Actually, I like those wheels and hubcaps too, odd retro touch for that car. Seemed familiar to me somehow, then I realized what it reminded me of - current Matchbox cars:
Hmm. Closest thing I see there is the "denim blue", but hard to match a configurator to real life. Either way, not a good color, but for the demographic, it will work fine.
The Impreza will carry Subaru this year, like the Outback did in 10 and the Forester in 09. Question is, will people get anywhere near those EPA ratings or not?
Someone in my building just bought a new 370Z, bright blue. Brand new, temporary permit issued today. It parks 3 spaces from me, I could even smell the newness form there.
Spotted (2) new CR-V's, one black and one silver. Went by the Honda dealer nearby to see them for myself and the place was certainly hopping as well. Didn't bother trying to find a sales rep (they were all busy) since I knew I wasn't going to buy and I had better things to do than spend 3 hours going thru the runaround.
Also spotted a new Camry at the Honda dealer. A V6 Sport model with 8500 miles on it. They wanted $24,500 which was tempting.
I may be the old dog who can't learn new tricks, but I can skate board, water ski, slalom water ski, stunt ski, ski jump, ice skate, and snow ski ... and I could not pick up snow boarding.
Kids whined about the ski boots even though they fell down a lot less on skis.
I switched from skiing to snowboarding when I was ~48. Still hoping to go soon; most of the hills are finally open around here. Hard to spot anything new with snow all over the rigs.
Sedan, black base model with hubbies, and a Hatchback Sport model with the bigger Premium wheels. THought I would like the sedan better but the hatch is growing on me. :shades:
Nothing exciting but a new hatch passed me as I was merging on the highway yesterday afternoon.
A neighbor of mine brought home a new Camry last night, Black SE V6. Had a current gen Impala before it. I think he must've gotten a healthy Christmas bonus or something because his wife has also been driving around in a brand new loaded Venza for the past month or so (used to drive a Saab 9-4x).
Going to try and check out the new Impreza this weekend. :shades:
Oh boo hoo, could the "stereotype" be from truth? Previous iterations of the Yaris rank pretty much in the penalty box category, especially the awkward trunkback versions.
Toyota has crafted its own image, can't cry about anyone passing judgment.
Meh, nothing to chill about, just don't get the commotion when anything critical is said about Toyolex. It's not an unfounded stereotype. 20 or so years of beige builds expectations.

Down there the Baja Bug was popular. Basically big tires and fender flares, raised clearance.
Couldn't do that today on a FWD platform, though. They could fake it, I suppose.
Also spotted a pair of new CR'V's, one red and one in a carbon gray. This one I think looks better than the outgoing one.
Lastly, a new Impreza hatch in Boston. Sport model.

Lavender color? No lavender on the configurator.
I saw my first CR-V in the flesh also. A bit extroverted for Honda.
Saw a black one, maybe Black Betty again?

The CVT uses very tall gearing cruising on the highway.
It worked on the Outback, too.
I'm looking forward to checking out the XV. :shades:
Kick Toyota out of SIA, and run the 2nd assembly line there.

Total loss... Shame it was a fantastic car, pretty much drove like brand new, even with 304,000 miles on the clock
PS Skiing > snow boarding, but the kids feel the opposite way
I agree with your kids. Riding is soooo fun.
Kids whined about the ski boots even though they fell down a lot less on skis.
Keep your knees bent and always lean downhill. And never ever look down. I always fall when I focus on where I am as opposed to where I want to be.
Falling on my tail bone hard once was enough for me.
OTOH, I had not gone skiing in a while and picked it right back up. Had a ball, actually. :shades:
I'm essential staff so I'm that one who makes it in to work.
Funny how I'm "essential" when it's time to work but not when it's time to hand out the big paychecks!
I see more new Camrys and that just came out recently.
I have seen a couple of Mini Countrymans lately.

Did a U-turn thru the median to get out of traffic, funny. Probably about as far off road as it will ever go.
I love the taillight detail.

So much for stereotypes.

Chill?
