2 new Lexus GS's, one black yesterday and a gun metal gray today. Gotta admit the nose looks better in person and the whole car looks pretty good overall. I'd rock one.
...a new GMC Yukon Denali at Magee and Oxford...SITTING ON FOUR CRUSHED SODA CRATES MINUS ITS WHEELS!!! This is happening FAR too often nowadays! This isn't far from the burned-out and stripped Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG I spotted about a month ago. This isn't a bad neighborhood, but it abuts some that are pretty much becoming ghettos. Sad thing is, these ghettos themselves were really nice not that long ago, like a mere 10-15 years ago.
This the same area that is on the news all the time now in Philly, where they alternate between slashing and stealing tires, with an occasional spray painting mixed in?
Surprised that street doesn't have a bunch of security cameras up on it by now.
Anyway, this really just means it is time to move to Jersey like the rest of the Philly MC did!
It seems to one street or small neighborhood (and not a "bad" one) up toward Lemko-ville. They had a rash of slashings (tires, not people, that is other parts of Philly!), and other vandalism. Last round though was actually steeling wheels right off a bunch of cars (how no one heard or saw that is a mystery).
One of the man reasons I would never live some place where I had to street park. I don't even like to leave my car in my driveway in a quiet suburban 'hood. And I am amazed at how many people with 2 gar garages can't even get 1 car in them!
And Fin, making cars disappear for insurance claims is a city pasttime. Make the right connection, and as good as done.
Ironically, the Yukon was parked in the driveway to the home as was the Mercedes. Too often, people have their garages filled with worthless hoarded junk leaving their vehicles outside and vulnerable. Dumb.
I'd feel bad if I sent my car off in an insurance scam - not about the scam. but about the car :shades:
I know what lemko means about the garages, some people hoard so much useless crap and either fill up garages with it or pay far more than it is worth to store it. And around here, one can easily find a 500K++ house with no garage at all. Low crime area, though.
For the last couple of days down here in Florida I've noticed quite a few cars that have a light lemon or pale green color. Lots of them look like Key lime pie. Often they are luxo barges - Caddy SUVs, etc. They look really nice in this climate.
Today I realized it was just my sunglasses and they are all shades of white.
As much as I'm not a fan of the Panamera's booty, it's remarkable what that sedan will do. The latest CandD's track test has it faster around a road couse than many outright sports cars, 911 included.
Saw two brand new Police spec Chargers today on the Delaware Mem Bridge. Still with window stickers and no markings. They looked pretty sinister in all black with the steel wheels. I guess Dodge is trying to grab some of that market now that the Panther is gone.
Actually they were going north. This was the first police version of the redesign I've seen. I passed a DE SP Charger on the way down, but it was the old style.
Saw a new Buick Lucerne with the fake convertible top treatment, the whole nine yards, including that metal strip around the base with the snaps for the fake tonneau they must have bought for the fake top...
What is even worse is the $2500 the dealer probably charged for it. I've seen a Lucerne with a top treatment like that. I've even seen late model Camrys and Altimas.
I see stuff like that in my area quite often. A certain demographic thinks it is cute. I see it as embarrassing a car, like putting goofy clothes on a pet.
saw one at my office that must have been on a test drive. Still had the window sticker, various decals, plastic on the seats, etc. Just like it came off the truck. No idea why someone had one like that at work.
Not sure which hot-rod 911 it was (GT2 or GT3), but a newish version of one of them.
interesting part, it was on a trailer with a tire rack, so looked to be some sort of race car (maybe auto-X?) Not full on race stuff, but must have been more than just a road car.
real interesting part? The tow vehicle was another Porsche, a Cayenne. Expensive tow truck there.
Saw the first Taurus cruiser today. Very interesting since the Boston Globe auto section today had a story about the new Explorers the State Police just put into service. They ordered 140 of them to go on-line in the next year.
In a row, new E-class coupe, 911 GT2, Range Rover Evoque, Porsche Panamera, Lamborghini Murcialago convertible (ragtop on = fugly). Also a slew of new CR-V's parked on Newbury along with a new 328i.
Just walking down Newbury, I was passed by an Audi RS4, new Cayenne Turbo and an incredible SLS convertible... 6.3 AMG and all :surprise:
Then there was a "tuned" Sti than took off like a bullet on Mass Ave. damn...
Wynton Marsalis at the BSH btw, if he comes to your area, definitely go see him. Phenominal performance.
I think that's the same one I have autocrossed with (was the 911 white?). I mean, really, how many Cayennes towing 911s can there be? It is a GT3, BTW. Very very fast car that gets beat to hell by the owner and his codriver, who also happens to be the organizer of the Northern NJ SCCA events. One of them is typically in the top 3 times of the day. Amazing to me that someone can afford to trash such an expensive car.

Must've been an embassy car, as I'm not far from there, but I saw a Corolla Verso tall wagon type of thing. At first I thought it was a Prius V, it's tall like that, taller even.
Seriously, even with a good product, are young GM buyers who want a sport sedan even choosing a Buick dealer? Sure some recall the GNX but that was in the 80s, over 25 years ago.
Look at the steep discounts they are offering. It's like Buick is competing with Chevrolet, just smaller and sportier, but no one knows it.
Comments
I like the Burgandy myself, and the Titanium is pretty sharp as well.
They are a very common sight now...
I guess you'd call it a wagon... If I were getting a Prius, it would be this one..

Though I do prefer the non-F Sport bumper.
I actually prefer the more garish bumper on that car, distracts from the grille and kind of livens things up.

Also saw a new Benz R-class, new nose.
New CR-V. More than one, actually.
Drove behind a Juke, too.
XC60 is popular around here, too, I saw 3 (!) of them all at once today.

Also another CR-V, very common around here.
Very yellow and strange looking.
After trying to look it up, maybe it was something else.

Only one I've ever seen in the flesh.
