you mentioned the salesguy was gone. So who knows. Dealers sometimes get greedy and don't really care about that.

that guy is good. Had numbers moving every which way. Made up half of them but still impressive! When they start doing that I usually just start subtracting to counter balance!

was probably doing fine on his trade though on the first pencil, but seemed to be getting hosed on the discount from new since they basically penciled at MSRP and "threw in" the bric a brac stuff.

To me, if you know that they were being realistic on the trade already, that has to mean they are making it up on the top line, so need to concentrate your effort there, since you know that they can easily show that they are already stepping up on the trade, taking your leverage away.

Agreed, but he bought 3 other cars from them in the last 14 months.
What have you done for me lately? I wonder if the management’s attitude is why his long term salesman left.

Yikes! With all the gibberish and fast talking I’d either be asleep or out the door in 5 minutes.

Great example of why the OTD price is the only figure.

Thankfully my purchase of the Passat was fairly easy. Thanks to QB providing a working value on the Accord I was able to determine the difference I would pay between the two cars. As the VW dealer was 45 miles north of me, I called to verify the car was available and that I would be there within an hour. They had it ready for me to drive and appraised the Accord while I was taking a test drive (alone). Their original offer was reasonable but I did counter anyway. The finance person said, 'Oh an extended warranty doesn't make sense' as you already are getting the long CPO warranty. She did try to sell me some other services which I politely declined. Admin, tax, tag, and the difference between the Accord and Passat and the deal was done.

My last deal was simple. I had Carvana offer for the trade, and dealer advertised they matched, so pretty well set. And had truecar quote from same dealer. So after a few electronic contacts, not much to discuss. Only wrinkle was finding some assumptions (incentives) built into the TC quote, which kept me from finalizing right at our visit.

Actually, I had 2 online purchase offers. I finally agreed to buy when dealer that would match Carvana agreed to also price match a competitor that quoted a lower purchase price (but much lower trade offer). All this though was done via text, so all I had to do was go in to do paperwork and take delivery.

Work day got away from me guys!

    TLDR - XC90

So @28firefighter - The MDX was the bargain of the group. If it was solely for me and I could have squeezed it to $500 from the $520 I got down to, it would have been tough to pass up. Wife wasn't in love with it and we all know it's getting replaced soon. The 2017 Enclave was the last of the run and now really feels outdated.

Caddy - Dealers really didn't care if I bought or not. Leases were atrocious, $678 36/10 for a 53K vehicle. Wife would have been happy and we would have saved the dispo, but not at those prices. It's also a touch smaller than the others

And the winner as most of you called is the XC90. Wife's favorite (mine too). She wanted white over blonde just like my car, which isn't easy to come by. I reached out to a broker on LH offering a "light/light" 2020 with 9% off MSRP plus the added Volvo rebates stacking loyalty. Yielded a 619 payment with $619 DAS. He lowered his fee to $349 which is much lower than any other brokers. Wife is thrilled and yes we are a little hokey with color coordinated Volvos.

I'll recap the transaction once we pick up on Saturday.

Here is the car again. I know you all think I'm crazy but remember the carpets are black and leather cleans easily.

Starting to kick around ideas for a replacement for the wife’s X1 if a year end deal can be had. Contenders so far:

    Q5 Premium Plus
    Nautilus Reserve
    XC60 Inscription
X3 but pricing on these with the right options is ridiculous and would have to go svc loaner
X4 same as above and loaners are thin on the ground right now

Not a lot in this sized SUV world leasing well right now and with the LC we really don’t need 2 3 row SUV.s. She’s set on an SUV though. Wants something that sits higher than the X1.

I pushed the MDX. It’s a little bigger but seems to lease well right now. She’s already had one so that was out. Liked it but just doesn’t want a repeat.

X3 or XC60 are your best bets for a decent lease in that crowd. Not a bad choice in the group at all. With BMW you'll have loyalty and save the dispo fee at least!

My wife is too funny with the dispo fee. She said I have to negotiate that out. I told her there is no way as it's set by the bank. I explained we avoided it three cars in a row, and to get over it.

Yes, there is a very nice Denim over blond XC60 locally. The X1 is my 6th BMW but I am having a very hard time justifying their pricing anymore. Upwards of $70k for new X4’s and X3’s is crazy when you compare option by option to others in the class. And they just don’t drive well enough to justify that premium anymore.

Yeah, I was stunned to recently see a commercial on one of the sports channels up here advertising a contest put on by one of the sponsors of a sweepstakes with the grand prize being one of those i-racing simulators. The ad said the price of the thing was $75K. I'm sure that the tech is amazing, but that really is a sign that you have too much money. I suppose the next big thing will be at-home flight simulators.
