We had the m340i in for its first service earlier this week. Shortly after I dropped my wife off for the pickup, I get a call from her proclaiming that she is in love with a white 4 series that was awaiting pickup. She’s been browsing MINI inventory, as she tends to do every Spring, so I suggest that a 4 series would combine what she loves about the M340i with a style that feels more personal to her.

So…she called our salesperson at the BMW dealer where we bought her M340i last October and my X5 in January and placed an order for an M440i xdrive. Should be a July build with delivery sometime in September. Mineral white over red leather and extended shadowline, and this time she got to check the boxes for all the options she wanted.

And yes…she’s okay with the schnoz.

I think those would look much better if they painted the giant nostrils the same color as the body

Please don’t say golf cart. Wife is hot on one for the shore. I’m trying to hold out this year. Of course the neighbor just got a beautiful new red on black six seat Icon…. Not helping the cause at all

    Six seat? Problem solved!

You should host a dinner party and get the details sorted out ASAP. :D

It takes about a month to get an actual paper title in NY regardless of if it is done by the dealer or yourself.

That's nuts. What is the rationale? I mean, it takes five minutes. I walk in with the paperwork and walk out with the title. Simple.

Filled up an Escalade at work earlier today and it cost $100 and change...I was shocked! Extremely nice driving vehicle for it's size and ergonomically, things were where they should be. Just not my cup of tea to be honest. Some of the controls were ridiculously hard to use which I don't understand. Give me simple buttons & knobs any day as so much simpler to use.
Finally got to drive the new Corolla Cross for more than a few minutes this morning & to be honest, can see me driving one in the near future without any issues. As long as it has the JBL audio system in the package, we're all in. Not as engaging as my Golf is but overall, think it'll be the perfect new vehicle for me going forward.

When I walk in to the county tax office to transfer a car title, I walk out with a completed "application for title". The actual title has to come from Austin (state capital), the DMV there are the only ones who can issue a car title.

Washington is generally the same. You fill out the title and registration applications, pay tax and registration fees, and leave with plates and registration. Title follows in 2-3 weeks from Olympia. There are a few select DOL locations that can do quick titles for a surcharge and give it to you same day - handy for when you’re selling a car and lose the title.

So I’ve always wanted a convertible. As you all know there are not many four seat options out there. I’ve always toyed with one of these. They are pretty reliable and will hold the four of us. I know it’s dog slow and a not a handler but would be perfect for the shore.

I’ve driven those and they are somewhat cramped. The sharp rake of the windshield makes for a tight entry/exit No barn burner with the 4cyl. but 200hp. will make it move ok. It’s reasonably comfortable to drive. More of a touring car rather than a sports car.

That said, I’d like to have one but not at a price that’s close to original sticker. You could buy 15 of my convertible for that.

Yeah it’s just a thought. Not sure why they didn’t put the 3.6 in there. At least it would have been quick in a straight line.

I’m all over the map with a replacement vehicle. My heart is always with a sedan, but a ‘vert would be nice to have and a small truck would be awesome for trips to the beach.

The Cascada didn’t sell well here and was a quickie Buick rebadge of an Opel. That seems like a lot of money to me.

I saw one of these yesterday in this color and thought it looked like the perfect choice for your use case:

I wonder how much a nice used New Beetle convertible goes for these days.

My sister in law had a Sebring convertible and it had a ton of cowl shake. Not sure if the later models were better.

Agree on the price. Very high but in today’s market for something with under 10K miles it’s not absolutely nuts.

Just stay away from any of those that had the 2.7L motor. They also came with a 2.4L 4 and a 3.5L 6. I deliberately went for an old version because it had the Mitsubishi engine.

As for the Beetle, that’s a whole different set of problems.

Yeah Mustang back seat is tough even for kids. Would certainly be plenty of power. The Cascada probably would be too slow at the end of the day. I mean our XC90 would beat it in a drag race.

Someone on here (either CCBA or C&C) had mentioned receiving mail about a VW water pump settlement. I just received one of those in the mail yesterday. While I have owned 3 VWs in recent memory, none had a water pump failure, so it doesn't apply in my case.

You know, of the 3 VWs, I remember the diesel the most clearly. Strange car, different from anything else I have ever owned so it tends to stick in my mind.

    I got the same notice.

But, since my 2018 already comes with 6yr/72K warranty, going to 8/80 on the water pump means very little.

I've read quite a bit about it; I think I'd prefer the F87; I don't care for the new digital IP and I think the styling of the M2C is simpler and more attractive- at least based on the looks of the new M240i.

We got the same notices about the water pump last week. Mine was replaced under warranty at 35,966 miles a few years back so I'll just have the extended warranty I guess. Now with the Audi, we had a coolant issue last year so I'll need to look at the paperwork to see what was done. Put that on my "honey do" list for later today.

We got our two of those on the counter. My water pump was replaced with 35,964 miles on the Golf so nothing I can do since it's not original. Still have to go through the paperwork on the A3 to see what work they did on the coolant issue we had awhile back. Off the top of my head, have no clue!
What exactly does it say? From what I got was if you had to replace the water pump, they'd pay you back for what you laid out to fix it. If nothing gone wrong yet, they'd extend the warranty on it for a bit longer. I really only gave it a quick look/see...am I correct here?

Looks like they are extending the warranty on your water pump (even your already replaced under warranty water pump) to 8 yrs/ 80k miles. Applies for both the Golf and Audi.
