\What if they are painted on? Either way, gray is not a great color for a Miata.

Miata looks nice other than the super skinny tires. And since I did not fit in the NB I had 20 years ago, I am unlikely to fit much better in that one. My BIL has one (but an automatic). I should test sit in his, and have the wife try it out to see if she can even get in and out of one! I think we will need to get something a little more upright for a fun car (a 2 series BMW or a Mini should be fine, so something like that).

they offered everything we wanted, including being very flexible on closing date, so would have been crazy to pass on it. with a bonus of not having people trooping through the house today at the open house (I really wasn't looking forward to that).

Hey, remember the saga from a member here who blowed up his Audi engine real good? Here’s another one. Apparently Audi corporate denied it was a warranty issue (the video is a bit fuzzy as to why) but you can see several points of failure on what is a low mileage engine although whether it was modded is unclear. The engineering and complexity is very Germanic.

I’ve never sold a house😩. I did come close around 2009 but the money wasn’t there.

I’ve never had a mortgage either. Can’t imagine how much money I saved there.

Stick, congratulations on selling your house. Just curious, how much was “the right offer” above asking?

I’m enjoying the satisfying clunk of the tailgate lock on the Maverick. I should note that the online parts store flagged both that order and the one for the Volt as having parts that don’t match the VIN. I understand on the Maverick, because those aren’t factory parts on an XL trim, but the Volt’s parts were the same specified in GM’s TSB.

Lariat, EcoBoost, Hot Pepper Red, FX4 pkg and moon roof. My guy is saying 4 months but he has seen as soon as 3. I’m getting it for invoice :) .

The value on these little trucks is just too good to pass up and as I have said before, really need a truck in the stable. This achieves that without having to get a behemoth full size or a waaay over priced mid size. I think I am going to be very happy.

    Sweet! What's that sticker for?

My spec would probably tickle $40k on the sticker. The one I tested was a Lariat, Ecoboost, moonroof, black appearance package and 4k tow that stickered for just over $40k.

XL’s and XLT’s are still nicely equipped and an incredible bargain.

So you think the mid-sizers are overpriced and got a $40k compact instead? That’s Trailboss territory.

Comparably equipped Taco would be well over $40k. I only looked briefly but I think the Trialboss is a package on the base model truck which I don’t think is comparable to the Lariat.

I like the midsizers but it doesn’t take much to get them to $50k.

Agreed. This was about bang for the buck. Jr is heading to college in the fall with a ride due to his academics but of course there is still a cost. We’re also going to do some updates to the house. The big stuff like kitchen and master bath. House was built in the early 2000’s and other than a little sprucing up with some new counter tops, tile etc, those rooms haven’t been touched.

Looking forward to it/not looking forward to it…

Small and midsize trucks are over the top expensive. That’s why I abandoned my search for an older one and got a newer full sized instead for less.

midsized anything is expensive. At least a $38k Maverick has lots of goodies. a base model Taco is $45k.

I got a nice rollup cover. More convenient to me than the tri folds. Not as sturdy though if you want to walk on it. I got a Truxedo Pro x15. well made and very low profile. not close to the cheapest, but I got a discount on mine and it was quite a bit cheaper than this. I am on my 2nd truck with it. very little water ever gets inside.

I have a vinyl tri-fold, but it shows dirt/pollen really badly. I may try some protectant to see whether it makes it look better.

When I bought this place, having a decent looking kitchen and bathroom was one of the main criteria. Those are both big ticket items to update. I later had new siding (HardiePlank) installed, which was also a big ticket item. I (and some other neighbors) got the short straw with the PVA reassessment this year--about a 43% increase, and I don't think I have good grounds to appeal because that's probably about what it would sell for.

Some of those guys are color blind. He could have thought it was red.

Don’t laugh. Back in the 60’s I knew a cop whose first love was working on electrical stuff but since he was color blind no one wanted to hire him, especially the phone company. So he had to find a profession that didn’t care. Guess who was willing to hire him and he told me there was an old timer on the force who had the same affliction.
