I knew that AEM made a CAI, but the seller on ebay was making the claim of the CAI being a MAZDASPEED product, which is covered by Mazda warranty for 12mths/12K.
That's about what I paid for my first car.

$600 for a pipe and filter, i don't get it.
I got that directly from the Mazdaspeed Performance Accessories 2006 booklet, and my parts dept. MSRP is around $600. I will double check on Monday if that is correct.
I'm looking to buy an MS6 Sport in the next few weeks in the New England area. If anyone has bought any MS6 in the past month please post where and how much over or under invoice.
Anyone hear anything about Manufacturers rebates? Or is that wishful thinking on this type of car?
Here in Dallas, there is a dealer that advertises $4k off sticker but includes the lease requirement, and another that advertises $3.5k off sticker for the Sport and $4k off sticker for the GT with no lease mentioned.
Fitzmall in Maryland is all over the place on MS6 pricing but the best they have listed is around $500 under invoice.
Hope this helps a little...and good luck!
$500 Customer Cash, $500 MAC Cash rebate (must finance through Mazda American Credit for $500 MAC Cash)
Maybe I'm just in the wrong ZIP code.
My heart is set on an '07 Mustang GT (dreamed of owning a Mustang V8 for a loooooong time) when my '04 Mazda6 S MTX lease expires in March 2007. However, we have two small boys, 2 and 5 months, and we are looking to buy a new house soon which may squash my plans for the Mustang again unfortunately.
Anyway, I told the wife I'd "settle" for a MAZDASPEED6 or MAZDASPEED3 if worse comes to worst because they are easily less money than the Mustang either by lease or purchase (can't lease a Mustang GT cheap at all these days). My question is, has anyone come out of a V6 Mazda6 and jumped into a MAZDASPEED6? Is it like night and day in a good way? Is the SPEED6 worth the extra cash? i.e. will I notice the difference?
Sounds like the SPEED3 will be faster, may handle better, cost less, and get better gas mileage. The AWD in the 6 is a definite plus here in the NE though.
I want everyone's thoughts on this please. The growl of the Mustang is too hard to pass up and I need some serious positive reinforcement if I have to change course if you know what I mean. The RX-8 is another option if the lease rates are right but that's another thread.
If you're still deciding, then there are some advantages with the Speed6. The AWD as you mentioned, plus four doors, which should be consideration if you're going to use the car to transport your children. When your lease is up, they will still be in infant car seats (which are bigger and bulkier) and will be more work to get in and out of the two-door Mustang. If you plan to play taxi on a regular basis, you will appreciate the easier access of four doors.
With the Speed3, you get the added bonus of the hatchback which will make it even easier to get strollers and other baby gear (man, there is a lot!) in and out of the vehicle. I would suggest that you bring your children's strollers with you for a test drive to see how they fit in the trunk, regardless of which car you choose.
If you don't plan to transport your kids, then by all means go for the Mustang and figure out a way to convince the missus! Since the Speed6 is relatively new and the Speed3 will be brand-spanking new, there may not be much room to negotiate the selling price (not sure how that works with a lease).
Just to cloud your decision further...if you're looking for a sporty four-door with a turbocharged engine and AWD, why not consider a Legacy GT? Its performance is very close to the Speed6 and you may be able to finagle a better deal.
Good luck!
Greg
Sidenotes: I have driven neither the 6 nor Speed6, so I can't really comment on the difference in performance. I'm very curious about how you have children aged two and five months. Did you mean years? If the kids are older, it would be easier for them to climb in-and-out of the back seat of the Mustang.
I did go from an '02 Altima SE (240hp V-6). After I drove it I swore I'd never go back to a 4-cyl. V-6 growl is very cool, power is great, etc., etc. Got the MS6 and now I will not go back to a N/A engine. I love it turbo acceleration. Sure, when you're not on boost, it's pretty humdrum (pretty much just at idle), at least w/stock exhaust. But on boost, it is such a rush. The MS6 is great and doesn't have the "starter car" image problem that some (like my wife) disdain so much. But, if that's not a problem, you don't mind FWD understeer, and you don't need AWD due to climate, I'd say wait for an MS3. Plenty of space for kids (one 2 yr. old and one 5 mos. old, right?), strollers, etc. Try getting strollers and something else large-ish in a midsize sedan's trunk. Not always possible and never easy. Hatch? Much easier. The only variable I see is if you were somehow able to get an MS6 Sport for LESS than an MS3 Sport. I'm assuming you're looking at the MS6 Sport since the MS6 GT is more than the Mustang GT per Edmunds.
Anyway, since you're not off your lease for awhile, wait for the MS3 and test drive it. If there are still any bargain '06 MS6's by then, test drive one of them. Like the previous poster suggested, definitely bring your strollers for a test fit. You can't go wrong, IMHO
If you are looking for speed and room for a family then the speed6 would be my choice and it was. I don't haeva family but I love the fact and have truck space and easy access to the back seats if I need to carry somethign there too. Has a nice ride and has the power and the fun to drive all in one. Plus you have AWD when you need it..this helps if you live in snow areas. I had to leave my stang on the side of the road when I was caught out when it snowed. The only drawback I think is the MPG and the fact you have to use 93 octane. Not a big deal but if you are worried about gas mileage then look elsewhere. I'm getting about 18-19 city and 25-26 highway. Not the worst but not the best either. the Reg. 6 is fun to drive but not close to the fun of the speed6. I think the reg 6 lacks in power in the low range but you get better gas milage.
My advice would be to do your research, test drive, compare and compare again. Weigh the factors and you can't go wrong when it comes time to buy.
Yes, one is 2 YEARS old and the other is 5 months old. They will be 3 years old and 13 months old when my lease is up on the 6. The 2 yr old already climbs in and out of his car seat in both our Explorer and Mazda6 so I am factoring that into the Mustang decision already.
No one out there who traded a V6 Mazda6 in for a MAZDASPEED6?
Whatever we replace the 6 with next March is by no means our primary vehicle as we have an '06 Explorer for that. I use the 6 to get to and from work, twisty back roads of course, and pick the kids up from daycare which is less than one mile from our house. We also use it occasionally on the weekends for short trips when we know no gear has to come along and we won't be bringing any back. To give you a gauge of how much this secondary vehicle is used, the 6 is now 28 months old and I just surpassed 13k miles. Although they were all really fun miles!
One question I have for GT owners: Does the enhanced start system have remote start (Mazda site says "Yes," but some posters imply "No"), and more importantly, also remote shutoff? I would like to use the remote shutoff as a poor-man's turbo timer, to let the turbo spool down just a little bit more before turning it off.
If manual is a must there is always Outback XT (please do not ask me what I think about Subaru's way of making options available
MazdaSpeed3, even hatchback, may not have enough space for 2 kids in the back and their stuff in the trunk.
It is very good idea to go shopping with kids' strollers.

For a 2006 Sport:
$28,555 MSRP
$26,393 Invoice
-$1,000 Incentive/Rebate
=$25,393 + tax, tags, etc.
Sweet!!
You can get a Mazda6 V6 wagon, or the Legacy GT, or Outback XT, maybe a Magnum Hemi? There are a lot of practical yet fun wagons on the market.

Now to find a $25.5K Sport deal.
I would recommend the following...
Test drive the Sport and the GT. Drive them on the Interstate or Highway and some busy streets and maybe go through a neighberhood. This way you get more driving time in to make sure thats what you want.
Don't buy on the first visit unless they sale it for what you want to give for it. They will call you if they can get a sale which means the price you want. Go towards the end of the month. They always want sales at the end of the month.
Check out your Credit Union or bank or even online for a good APR. They tried to offer 7.9 for 72 months. I got 6.25% at the CU. I had a cheat sheet with me when I went with what payments will be after taxes and tags etc... They always give you the price in the form of the monthly payment. This is where your cheat sheet comes in. Always look at all the numbers before you sign. I have been told sometimes they put some added costs in and hope you don't catch it..
Well anyway you probably know all of that.. Just sharing info. on my experience. Good luck, let us know how you do...
One pricing option is to take the incentive lease, and buyout at lease end. The total comes to $26,5K, assuming $300 acquisition fee and no other fees and no other options. Pretty good without any dickering at all.
When I first test drove the MS6. I wanted it!!!! I was close to getting it until I found out the APR they was going to give me and the amount on my trade-in. I did my research so I knew they could do better. They tried to keep me there trying to get me to buy today. They came at me at different angles trying and trying but it all came down to the same price at the end. They even was going to let me take the car home for the night and see if they could get more for my trade-in. I don't think they would like it if I put 100-200 miles on the car. I wouldn't buy a spanken new car with more than 50 miles on it. Oh and make sure you get the color you want. They should be able to ship one in from another dealership at no cost. I got the Grey..love it...
After the first test drive I offered them 26k for the car off the bat and they said OK, but they wasn't going to give me a good trade-in value for my car and a good APR like I said before. So I don't see why you can't get one for 26-26.5k with any problems.
After a few days the saleman called and offered me 2k more on my trade and I was happy. I went back to the dealership and test drove again. But a GT this time to see the diffence.. to me the sport was more comfortable and had more headroom and there is no difference in the performance than the GT. just the leather and sunroof and the advance keyless which you can see when you check the cars out.
But be honest with the salesman first time you go and say your looking to buy a MS6 but not today..hey you are being honest but you know he is going to try and sale you one today, and when he does then you can say I said I wasn't buying today. One other thing also... when he keeps going back and forth from the manager and he takes way more than a few minutes..get up and walk around.. They are most likely trying to get you impatient and tied of waiting to get you to give in and buy the car... You will see what I mean when you go.... I can go on and on... The main thing research, research, research......Hopefully more MS6 owners will share there experiences on here with you.
$23k is truly an incredible price for a Japanese high performance AWD sports sedan w/ 4-yr, 50k mile warranty!!
Cheers!
I have gotten lazy and am going for an automatic myself, so not looking at speed6.
Take advantage, folks, those prices sound incredible.
