Must have been pre-production because they started production today, in fact the first model will come off the assembly line in about 3 hours.

I saw that combo at the Philly car show, and really liked it. I like the dark gray interior a lot, and especially with that Seacrest Green exterior.
Bob
I will admit the gray interior would wear better, show dirt a lot less.

Will I get them in trouble if I say ?
It was in Connecticut. Went there yesterday. The Gmgr lives a few blocks over and made a 3 pm appt. They close at 4 so with really awful weather here there was little traffic. Definitely did NOT expect to take it out but had to ask.
The sls mgr was able to take it home during the week but believe the car is gone today. This dealership had if for a week, but another only 1 day. Seems like this car is making the rounds in New England.
Having test drove a Honda Pilot a few weeks ago can say that you will be amazed (positively) at the difference. The downside of course is that it is addictive, you will not be happy until you own it.
Went there worried about the front end, interior, handling etc. Front end
was fine (wife hoped they might have improved the logo), but was nowhere near the ugly description others have used. Actually really liked it and later went out to dinner parking between a lexus and pilot. Liked the Tribeca a LOT more than the Lexus, more room, better styling. Have not driven one but did check out the pricing and it seems higher.
They had nice paint chips to look at. The Red was also nice but think we might prefer a lighter color.
Love the beige leather but wife is looking for a change (and dark colors hide spills by little kids)
Steve.

Nice to hear the positive driving impression.
We might be reading that wrong, I think they said the LTD package adds leather to the first two rows on the 5 seat model. Did they mention the 3rd row at all?
Vinyl is fine with me anyway, for the 3rd row. I'd have booster seats there if I were using them and vinyl cleans easily.

dont know what i can compare it to really. what does the extra 4k or so in a sienna get ya over a trifecta?
Nicholas
I think we're jumping the gun here, where did it say the 3rd row was not leather? Even if it was not it would be vinyl, not cloth.
-juice
You would be surprised to learn how much of your "leather" seats are vinyl anyway.
Joe
Subaru needs to do a good job of marketing the Tribeca as upscale at a discount price compared to the competition. The pricing looks good, they just need to make sure they use it to their advantage by comparing it to their more expensive competitors.
Good jab with the "Leatherette". I think the advertising guys need to come up with a new upscale Subaru term for vinyl. It has definitely worked with Leatherette for BMW.
It's not as if the word "leatherette" is a trademark any more. It's in the dictionary and means imitation leather. Anyone, including Subaru, can use it to describe the material covering the seats. If it works for BMW and Porsche, it'll work OK for Subaru, too.
Has anybody compared the interior with the FX35? Unfortunately the Tribeca at the autoshow was sectioned off and it was impossible to get a close look. From what I could see at the show and pictures the interior quality appears to be in the discussion. I have been shopping for the FX35 but its pricing like the RX330 gets frightening when options are included. For less than 38 grand fully optioned, and I assume it will have limited production numbers so there will not be 20 in every parking lot (RX330, Pilot), the Tribeca has moved up on my short list.
or "cuir faux" just to sound sophisticated :P
-Dave
I do see the FX35 as a potential competitor for the 5 seat Limited models, sure. Both tend be be on the sporty side. The catch with the Infiniti is it has very, very little cargo space with the seats in place. It's shaped more like a hatchback than wagon.
Not that I care much, cloth is fine to me. Or that Alcantara stuff. Wifey prefers leather, though, if it's heated.

The car is really attractive out on the road. The high beltline and tall fenders/hood are suggestive of a cross between a Murano and a new 300 sedan. The rest of that route, after you come down the mountain, is long rolling hills, and the B9 clearly has enough oooomph to pass tractor trailers in an efficient manner at speeds in excess of 75 mph. I already have a source for my occasional need for a stick-to-your seat torque fix , an 04 FXT.
We are giving a lot of thought to a Tribeca. to replace our '94 Explorer with an after-market removable third seat. The thought of a 5/7 passenger with AWD/VDC that can take all of us and our junk to the beach and get up to 28 mpg is VERY enticing, plus the adjustable upright seating and DVD make long trips so much easier for everybody. I dont need NAV but I might consider it if the after-market tinkerers figure out how to by-pass the transmission interlock that allows you to watch DVD's on the NAV screen until you shift into gear....front seat passengers like movies, too!
I got my 04 FXT with VIP invoice pricing in June 04. I am likely to wait until July or August, when all the other makers are dropping prices and offering financing incentives and rebates to move their 05 inventory, to start serious shopping, although it is re-assuring to know that the B9 will be in dealers soon, just in case my Explorer dies of natural causes before August.

No - now that naugas are extinct, you can no longer get naugahyde. The 60's and 70's were a deadly time for the poor, defenseless nauga.
Hi Sweet_subie,
How did you figure this ? Am trying to decide whether to spend the extra on the NAV which we would use as a toy most of the time and think it is a 2k option.
Steve.
I saw the Tribeca at the Dayton Auto Show this past weekend and it is a sharp vechicle. They had it roped off so you could not sit in it but from what I saw very nice!!!
I realize that's better than the Outback VDC but I predict the OB's numbers will improve also.
saustin: nav also gives the front passengers a movie screen when the vehicle is in park. So you should ask yourself if you'd ever use that. If not, I'd pass on the feature because you could buy a Garmin or other aftermarket system later if you change your mind.
The DVD is, IMO, a better value. It's $200 less, you get a huge 9" screen plus 2 wireless headphone, and you get the aux input for the stereo. If you pre-order the Tribeca and choose that portable XM or get an iPod, voila, plenty of stereo options for you.

BTW, Naugas are not extinct!

LOL!! It's good to see that some companies can have a sense of humor!!
Actually, it would have to be "faux cuir" in order to sound "sophisticated".
Have you compared the room in the B9 directy with a Volvo XC90 (second and third row width and leg room)? I'm 5'9" like you and will probaby never sit in the second or third row, but would like friends and family to be somewhat comfortable. My wife had an '03 Pilot which was pretty roomy but has traded it in for a smaller car. I really liked the versitility of the Pilot but want something with more power and better handling. I drive an '04 V8 Touareg now. Thanks, Jim
Bob
I live in Lafayette, btw
I have seen the silver with gray interior and that looked quite sharp

It's a shame, GM will destroy the SAAB name. (sob :cry ) no pun intended.
Charlie
And they'd to the same to Subaru given the chance. They're in business to make money, not to make cars (although they're not doing a very good job of either right now).
Was wondering if there were opinions out there on whether the Slate Gray interior might be too hot in the Summer. Love the look, with the Blue it was perfect, think it would be great with Green, and a nice change from the beige leather BUT..... someone mentioned to my wife that the interior would be too hot and that has her (us) concerned.
Any ideas ? How about the existing LLB outback owners, don't they also come with a gray leather option ?
Thanks, Steve.
