Yep, generator. I think this has been an issue throughout the car's life. I think it was the first owner who installed a Stewart-Warner ammeter in the dash (cut into the dash, irreversible mod, but it is a nice period correct item with a bezel that doesn't stand out) - it works, and I notice the car is discharging at slow idle. At low rpm the charging light also comes on, but turns off in normal driving. Can't be easy on the battery, I think I will try to string it along to at least get to 9 years (a few months away).
And yeah, I think the color does a lot, that with how most of the chrome has aged well, and that the car is kept clean.
Fin, the next time you're working with it, take a multimeter with you to check voltages when it is off, at idle, and under higher RPM. There are a few things that are possible here, but I think the two most likely are:
1. Failing alternator (brushes). 2. Failing starter (solenoid under too high of resistance when the engine is warm). Extra amperage can overcome this (e.g., jumping) early on, but it will just get worse with time.
Edit: Oh, didn't realize it was a generator. I think those just give out fixed voltage based on the speed it's turning, correct? That could complicate things. Probably good to have a deep cycle battery on it.

Yep, generator. I had it rebuilt maybe 7 years ago now. The low rpm = charging light has been a thing during the entire time I have owned the car, no matter age of alternator or battery.
The battery in it is a MegaTron something, and it is big, to fit in the large battery holder of the car. Being from 2014, it doesn't owe me anything, but I will do what I can to keep it going. Just keep the jump pack on me and be prepared to get another battery, a job I can actually do.

I have to laugh, when I saw GTA listed I thought of the Renault Alliance GTA. To my defense or shame I did own an 85 Alliance DL convertible, fully loaded 5sp 1.7L.

$40k for a chopped up Charger pushing 200k miles? Dream on buddy.
I like that Eclipse but it’s the 4cyl. model. I had a 2008 GT with the 6 cyl. which was a lot more fun. They stopped making them in 2012.
When I was convertible shopping I considered a Solara but they held their value so well that I went with a Chrysler for less than a third of what they’re asking.

That W220 S-class, too much bleeding edge (for the day) tech beta tested by people who laid down 90K for such a car. Many looked like that 10 years ago.

I have fb, grudgingly. Many hobby and car groups that used to be on board type sites moved there and have stayed. I've also bought and sold on marketplace, so it is needed. Profile is just a name though, no personal pics or 25x a day updates of my life.
As long as an ad isn't in a specific group, I don't think it should be hidden from non-members.
Unibody T-Bird, so it might be possible to stretch it back into shape. Rear bumper might need to be replaced it there are no longer any shops that can straighten and rechrome it.
It may not look too bad, but apparently one of the rear quarters is bent, and I'd fear frame damage, so the old car might be on thin ice.
The offending car had it worse, airbag deployment too:
Wow, I can’t imagine how much it will cost to put that back together. Are there parts available for those like with Mustangs and Camaros? Tell me the guy who hit him had insurance.
2019 Kia Soul+, 2015 Mustang GT, 2004 Chevy Van, 2000 Chrysler Sebring convertible
Yep, insured. I think there are a handful of Bird specialists out there, but these cars seem to have high survival rates - lots of them still out there although maybe not in the most roadworthy condition. Scouting some old time junkyards might do it. The car was/is a daily driver, btw. Owner reports it drives a little weird now, so the alignment is off if not the frame tweaked a little.
The ‘70 Monte Carlo is bizarre. The description sounds like is for a different car than what’s pictured. It is pretty crusty looking down low, and those dents! Is that masking tape holding down the trunklid?
On the 55 Nash, the ‘Weathereye’ shows Airconditoning as a selection from the lower control lever. If this is factory air, that has to be rare. The Sunbird convertible looks nice and would be a cheap and fun top down cruiser.

I don't see anything resembling a compressor in the engine bay. In old car and real estate ads, I often see "air conditioning" used when I suspect there's no actual refrigeration unit. I think it is an old timey term used for an air circulation system in a house (like central heating with a ventilation fan) or a car with flow through ventilation.

Surprising lack of info and pics. I’m not familiar with their auctions. If this was BaT, I’d say $25k is possible. Realistically, this should be a $20k car, max, IMHO. Put another $7k (and lots of personal hours) into it and I think it could be a $35k car.

Baby almost the price of the adult
Upholstery appears to wear like iron
I think I have seen this in person a couple times (at a golf course no less), it really does look pristine
Change out those wheels stat!
Unique
Probably over original MSRP
You can't get there from here
The only way to travel
Every accessory and then some
Not sure what is better, the mileage or the color
Coolest car ever made
I swear this was for sale a year or two ago, but I think this might be a near identical but different car. Seems fair for a good driver, just deduct for a new set of wide whites
And the CRX really needs to be an Si.

The Fiero would be very nice if those wheels were ditched.
For me the only thing I’d want would be the 84 Caddy. Good colors and condition.
The 85 Coupe is in very nice shape, but to me those cars have no presence at all. It’s no wonder Lincoln really took off in the mid 80s.

The ‘62 Ford is unfortunate. Too much junk tacked on to what would otherwise be a nice car.

Oh shoot … I retract my statement. I was thinking that 84 had the Olds 307 or one of the larger Caddy V8s.

Haven't looked in a while. Found some interesting listings
21 yo Focus ST that actually looks really well preserved
87 GTA Price of these are up so this may be a fair deal
Chargero? Chargcamino? Even is decent build, not what the seller thinks it is.
Never see these RX-8s anymore Wing is a mistake. Car looks very messed with
Never see these Eclipses anymore either These used to be very popular around here
S class looks really used up Brooklun living is hard on a car
55 BelAir looks like a nice build Seller is probably still optimistic
Most loved Solara you'll find I bet
First car vibed on this Accord but with these needs, he should be willing to negotiate
Prelude looks OK except the hood and the AT Maybe find a hood and do a vinyl wrap on it for a first car

I agree with AB on the Monte. Must have had a hard first ten years before parking it.
Town Car rare without digital dash. No 6th digit and those clusters are known for bad odometer gears. I’d treat that one as TMU
Super coupe. Never seen one with red interior.
Sunbird. Interesting to see one in that condition. Not the most manly car ever made.
7.3 OBS…. Must have a million miles as the price honestly doesn’t seem all that bad for that rig. The ground effects are “special”.
