I have a dealer telling me on a 2018 E400 Sport wagon the residual is 57% and the money factor is .00230, is this correct?
Also do you know the dealer holdback? I have seen 1% and 3%.

He also questioned the invoice numbers (Edmunds) I gave him even though I have other websites that confirm your numbers, any thoughts?

57% is the correct 36/15 residual.

The MF for the 2018 E400 wagon is listed as 'standard'. We don't know the exact rate, but always believed it to be around .00200-.00220. So, .00230 is not out of the realm of possibility.

No information on holdback, but this article may help (note that it's 4 years old);

the dealer "invoice" thing is a bunch of BS. typical BMWs and Mercs sell close to or sometimes under invoice prices. the E400 coupe my brother is picking is being sold at "invoice" while the custom BMW 540xi build i ordered 2 weeks ago was sold to me for 2K under "invoice". they'd all go out of business if they actually paid the alleged invoice prices. a dealer typically pays between 20% and 25% less than what's on the sticker, depending on make and model. if the dealer says that the invoice price on a 70K E400 is 64k, than they probably paid around 50k for it. but don't forget that dealerships have huge overhead. rent, insurance, salaries, gas for all the window shopper test drives, refreshments, etc. all that money comes from somewhere.

We don't have incentive information for Mercedes. You might be able to do better than that on a 2017 model, this time of year.

Many thanks. Absent a pull ahead, I would order late March, and then hopefully I can track the daylights out of the beast like I've done with my 5's (including production, and shipping!) - it seems to me to be a hot car, so I'm thinking there won't be that many incentives (if at all) versus BMW. BMW has already started hitting me with the pull ahead and other things, i just find the benz far more compelling (for the first time!)
i'll keep checking and likely ask for updated info as we approach spring. i'm hoping with MSDs i can get the payments down, though my experience has been it's only good for roughly $50/month or so anyway. Thanks again!!!!!

With your MSRP and selling price, I get $623/mo for 36/10, $639/mo for 36/12. Both before taxes, and assumes that all fees are paid up front.

Ask the dealer for the adjusted cap cost, and a breakdown of the delta between the selling price and that number.
