Poor Continental tires on 2016 MDX?

Hi there
I got my wife a MDX nine months ago. 16K miles and two tire rotations later, the front tires are completely shot (less than 2/32 tread). Took it to the dealership and they said they needed to be replaced. Looked up the Continental tire warranty and spoke to the lady there who 'advised' me that the warranty only covers factory faults, not wearing down the tread and that they would only give me a discount of 50% on two new tires rather than a free replacement. Of course, I am rather unhappy with having to spend _any_ money on new tires at all after 9 months/16k, especially since my wife just uses her car for driving the kids to school etc... Anybody else has had the same experience with these Conti LX Sports Contact tires?

See TIRERACK REVIEWS
I'm not sure what recourse you have, since the tire warranty is separate from the car warranty, but perhaps if you printed out some of those reviews and voiced a spirited complaint to Continental, you might get a better deal...and maybe a better deal on a better tire.
These tires are rather pricey. You'd think you'd get at least 2X the miles you did.
So, you have a choice to make. Take their offer of half price for two more crappy tires (which might still be expensive), or cut your losses and buy a good set of four, and be done with those.
I usually vote for the latter choice.
